Cleaning, driving, living, and every night before bed
These two are like family they are in my ears so much. I am a “Lady Pates at the $5” and proud. I love interacting with them on the Facebook page (Patrick has answered me 3 times so we’re basically best friends) and during thejr drag bingo! Their episodes make me cry laughing. If Patrick’s laugh doesn’t make you smile, take the stick out yo butt!

    Love you both!!
I enjoy your pod cast very much. I recently found you guys and have already listened to all episodes.

    Moving to four stars
Okay SO long time listener. I feel like G and P have hit a “growth year”… kind of reminds me of that one year where My Favorite Murder was seriously going downhill. You guys need to listen to the BALANCED reviews (2-4 stars) which seem to all be saying same thing. Patrick is walking on eggshells with G and afraid to offend her. She’s pretty dismissive and condescending of everything and everyone. If she wants to continue making money on this, she needs to lean more on her hilarioussss comedic side. She can still get her message about things she cares for across without turning people off before they even stepped in the door. It’s an uncomfortable vibe for sure the last year or so.

    Intrigued
I’m slightly disturbed by a previous comment regarding not laughing. I love the hosts and their commentary on these documentaries, but I think continuously looking to true crime for the laughs is not normal or good no matter how desensitized we’ve become as a society. I appreciate the approach on how to make these horrific events more understandable and relatable by these hosts sharing their thoughts and experiences.

Why am I paying for Patreon
I love this podcast so much and wait for it every week. Super disappointing to have recycled content from Patreon- which I pay for. This week is the third time in the last month that I’m seeing a Patreon episode on the regular feed.

    Wow
    These hosts are so annoying

    Long time listener
I’ve been listening for years and on the Patreon. It might sound odd since this is a true crime podcast but this show helped when I had severe anxiety. Now, if I am feeling anxious I turn on TCO and pick a sports or scam themed episode like McMillions or All the Queens Horses. Gillian and Patrick really help with their jokes and Patrick’s laugh! Gillian and Patrick, you’re the best! Thank you!

Being billed and not getting Patreon episodes… so frustrating

    So fake
Used to like them, but they showed their true personalities at the obsessed fest and won’t ever listen or give them money ever again

    So PC
These 2 work so hard to follow the liberal guidelines. Yet they throw shade on everyone and everything conservative. The latest episode where they refuse to use certain words or names is so over the top.

Love it, but not as funny anymore
I really enjoy this podcast. I’ve been a listener for years! The topics are really interesting, but I haven’t laughed at an episode in a really long time. I think they’ve definitely lost their comedic edge. I wish they would bring some more comedy back to their episodes. Their earlier episodes were so funny!

    Hillarious, wonderful hosts
I listen to what seems like a million podcasts, but this is my favorite. I've listened to every episode multiple times and shared it with friends and family. If you like true crime and comedy but are not a monster or misogynist, then this podcast is for you.

I love these two. I love this pod.

    Just started
These 2 make me laugh so hard. I am only on Jesus Camp but every episode, im dead, especially with the ghost in Patrick’s house and his shrill scream 😂 They are the perfect compliment to each other and can’t wait to get to the new seasons.

    My Internet best friends
Gillian girl, love you, please keep shrieking. Honestly shocked that review wasn’t aimed at Patrick. And miss Patrick girl, shriek it out. Love you both. Love your defense of victims. Y’all filled a gap in my life and this podcast slaps. Lady Pates at the $5 but looking at doing more because y’all deserve it.

    Delightful
Absolutely love this Podcast. I’m a retired Law Enforcement Officer that has been obsessed with true crime my entire life. Long before the internet I had the Time Life True Crime books you ordered from TV or magazines, lol. Love your unique and refreshing style of covering true crime. You guys are awesome and make my day all the time. Keep up the incredible work.

I’ve been listening since almost the beginning. This is still my favorite podcast of all.

    Perfect distraction!
I’m a big true crime doc watcher and I started listening (well bingeing) to this podcast in November of 2024 after hearing Patrick talk about Gillian on his Golden Girls podcast….I instantly fell in love. The humor, Gillian’s impressions, Patrick’s laugh and the insight on docs I’ve seen already are the perfect distraction for life. I can honestly say I haven’t listened to much of anything else since November (my other podcasts are stacking up because of it 🙃)!!!
  • jjr19722
    Hilarious
I just discovered this podcast. They are both hilarious!! Love it!
  • Chellebelle!!
    Love!!
If I could have a ringtone of Gillian saying” just I can’t “ And Patrick saying “aaand it’s not going so great” would be perfect. I’m a podcast snob I hardly ever stick with one but I’m bingeing this!!! I’m already to 2019. Love you guys love your personalities always do you cause it works!!

    Perfect Distraction
I have been a true crime listener for several years, but just recently found this podcast. Generally I listen to more in depth podcasts but have really actually enjoyed the shorter versions Gillian and Patrick make. For the last few weeks I have been struggling with my mental health, obsessing over my past failures, and comparing myself relentlessly to others. This podcast was my light! As sad as it sounds, I actually enjoyed listening to G and P genuinely laugh with each other. They have been a great distraction from my own mind, and I can’t thank them enough! They definitely know how to lift a girl up!
  • This Tired Gal
    I love this podcast but…
Gillian I love you girl, but please stop shrieking.

    Impressed
I’m impressed with the changes made to this podcast after receiving a lot of criticism. They could’ve doubled down, but they added more meaningful content. Appreciate the pivot.
  • Eatyourokra
    What happened to this podcast?
I enjoy the humor but Gillian is just too angry and judgmental. Girl, isn’t it exhausting to be so angry all the time? Because it’s exhausting to listen to. And the things they get offended over is to the point of ridiculous…offended over the use of the word wedlock, offended by the phrase ‘product of a broken home’. These two can find a way to be offended over breathing air. The constant white hate while claiming to be inclusive. I’m reminded of the time Patrick said, “remember when we use to have a First Lady that looked like Nancy Reagan and now we have one that looks like Michelle Obama?” You may disagree on a person’s politics but to comment negatively on how a woman looks or the color of their skin? A person cannot change the color of their skin or how they look but these podcasters find it their place to say one First Lady is better than the other over LOOKS and skin color. And then there’s the whole OF scenario and how it was handled and not addressed in addition to the stories coming out of how people involved with Patrick were mistreated. Garbage bell 🗑️🛎️

very shrill with poor research.. terrible

    Too much off-topic talking
I have loved this podcast for years, and I’ve been a patreon member off and on. The off topic rambling in episodes as of late feels like padding for time in the podcast.

Used to be great, now unsafe
I was a Patreon subscriber, but had to stop when the ads for the live shows got so overwhelming. If someone is on the Patreon, they’re hearing the same info multiple times a week. They’re already interested, and they’re already paying you. But now Patrick and Gillian are being unsafe about it. They used to encourage people who wanted to come but had no one to come with to come anyway. Now they’re not only saying, “come alone!” They’re also saying, “advertise yourself as being alone!” It’s so unsafe. It’s like they have forgotten that they’re a true crime podcast and why true crime exists. True crime is largely consumed by women and female presenting people, and queer folk, who all consume it to learn what not to do to stay safe. Encouraging people to advertise themselves as being alone, possibly in a location they’re unfamiliar with, is so dangerous. They’ve become so out of touch, it’s frustrating to think of how fun and interesting they used to be compared to how corporate they are now. Their scripted content sounds scripted now, and they don’t seem to care about what they’re discussing anymore. It’s become a cash grab and a way to “one-up” other podcasters by discussing the same content weeks after the other shows release an episode about it. They are trying to prove they’re still relevant, but they just sound like they’re tired of the job. It’s okay to stop when you don’t like doing something anymore. It’s also okay to take a break and regroup, instead of over-saturating your content by increasing your output to overcompensate for the loss of listeners. My advice to new listeners is to go back to the beginning. They were way more fun back then.

    Used to love this podcast
I used to really enjoy listening to this podcast. I can’t stand the constant screeching. It’s just obnoxious now.

    My 2 besties
Patrick and Gillian have been my greatest support the last 5 years. I discovered their podcast shortly after I lost my husband in 2019. In the discomfort of learning how to do all the things myself, I put TCO on to be my entertainment as I do all the hard things like being drug around by my snowblower as I figure out how to use it or mowing the lawn, or do challenging home repairs. You have no idea how fun you make the not so much fun things go by. I’ve listened to every single episode both the podcast and on patreon. You two are the best. I lost my husband due to mental health struggles and I love so much how you both make this platform a safe supportive space for those who are really going through it. I love how you honor all people no matter who they are or what they are going though, well except the murderers. I love that. Keep doing what you’re doing. Thanks for being positive distractions and just being you for those of us who are really going through it. Hugs to you and your fam.❤️

    Disappointed
This used to be my go to podcast. I loved the combo of true crime and humor. I can’t count the number of times i busted out laughing in inappropriate situations because i was listening. Now it’s just an hour of Gillian preach-screaming at us about literally everything and Patrick just saying Tooootally over and over. I keep trying to listen in hopes they will return to the good old days but, sadly, this podcast is just not for me anymore. So, will i listen anymore? I Think Not.
  • Jesitiz
Maybe check back in a few months.
I loooved this show for so long even was a patron subscriber for years, since their beginning. Lately I am fighting the urge to unsubscribe. I get about 5- 10 minutes in and then realize the humor is gone. I just fast forward through the eps now. Gillian use to be hilarious, I feel like Patrick is still really trying but he seems afraid to. You honestly get so little of the actual story now.

Humor and Crime, A Killer Combo!
I absolutely adore Gillian and Patrick. They bring exposure and a voice to difficult topics while making you pee your pants from laughter! Five stars all the way! And don’t get me started on Patrick’s laugh! The best! Thank you both for all you do!

    Wanted to leave this
Calm down, stop yelling, slow down. Why do some podcasters try to be so over the top? This show has intriguing subjects but it’s like a performance for them. Just calmly present these fascinating stories. And p. s. the word is discomfort, not uncomfortability.
  • Deebles111
I have to change the rating.
It is so hard to listen to them anymore.
  • Hypnooooo
    Why?
I enjoy the show to an extent. What I’m confused about is Patrick’s constant need to bring his child into every conversation. He always seems to have to make it about his kid. Even in contexts that don’t call for it. Im tired of having to hear a 5 minute tangent about how great his kid is while trying to relate it to the situation they’re talking about. I get loving your child, some cases as an example it’s okay to but oh my god it’s constant. Like clock work. I’ve seen so many other podcasters who talk about true crime who have kids that don’t constantly bring them up regardless of the context. We get it, Daisy is great but dude please.
  • Grace is always right.
    Never Change⭐️
OMG ILYYYYYSM PATRICK! I started listening with my mom on the way to school and immediately fell in love. You guys always make me laugh! Recently when Patrick said “I ship” it made me die laughing! It’s always so nice to hear abt your life outside of work. Gillian your snarky (not in a bad way ofc) comments always are so relatable you guys are the absolute best podcasters out there. No matter how rude people get you stay the same! And if they don’t like what they listen to why are the commenting? Like frfr. Keep doing whatcha do!♥️♥️♥️

All this time yall are still great❤️Grizzly man remains on my pick-me-up when I’m down list. Thank you.

    Know what I meeeeean?
These people are insufferable. They didn’t pronounce the subject’s name in Sweet Bobby correctly, (Karit, Kare-it not Ka-reet) even though it’s pronounced over and over in clips the play! Gillian says she won’t comment on their culture and then continuously comments on their culture ignorantly bashing it. Barely veiled racism from people puffing themselves up as allies. They are performative idiots. Patrick needs public speaking lessons as he says “know what I mean” no less than 20 times an episode.
  • Slowly letting go
They are losing me…well HE is.
I have been a LONG TIME fan of this show. From day 1. Seen several live shows in various cities. But gotta say the show is losing me. And i gotta be honest its Patrick. Not bc the annoying laugh like so many. But he contradicts himself more and more. The most recent example was saying that we dont do the thing where we comment on how people sound in 911 calls. Yet he did. Literally in the next sentence he did. Ive been hearing a lot of this flip flopping lately and its frustrating especially when the crux of this show is so victim focused. Love G but why isnt she calling him out on this type of stuff. I dont know…but feels like the show needs some evolvement. Starting to feel a lot of the same over the years. Its a shame. I’ll miss Gillian…but there’s always Hamilcast! Sorry fam!

This is the first podcast I followed. Still the BEST.

    All-time favorite
I have listened to podcasts for yeeeears and this is the only one I’ve never un-followed. I cycle through and revisit pods all the time. TCO is an automatic listen WHENEVER theres a new episode. I thoroughly enjoy the banter between Gillian and Patrick. They respect the victims and are overall very intentional with their depictions. I love TCO. ❤️

    Not a paid bot
I love this show. It’s the first podcast that I have found that doesn’t make me crazy annoyed. Thank you and keep up the great work!
  • Lovesshoes29
    My favorite podcast!
Love Gillian & Patrick! I try to get outside to walk on my breaks at work and pretty sure the neighboring businesses think I’m a crazy person, always walking down the sidewalk laughing out loud at Gillian’s rage and Patrick’s scream-laugh! I rarely have time to watch all the true crime docs that interest me so I count on TCO’s recaps to keep me in the loop!
  • goldengirl555
    I know what you mean
They switch editors often- please edit out Patrick saying “you know what I mean” he sounds insufferable. Any 5 star rave review about this podcast is a paid bot. I’m also sorry to know there are people with nothing better to do with their time than attend one of his con shows to hear a “story” about someone who hated him. Book tour 2.0

    Loved it from the start
I have been following this show since the beginning and as a fellow podcaster am saddened by reviews where people attack us bc they think they have some right to talk about you as a person bc they listen to a podcast . Keep up the great work and never ever let the haters get you down . And definitely keep screaming !

    Don’t Meet Your Heroes
I’ve been a listener for several years now and, while Patrick can get annoying, I’ve recently gone down the rabbit hole of Patrick’s behind the scenes behavior of creating a toxic work environment and generally being an unkind human. While I enjoyed the content, a true crime podcast is a dime a dozen and it just doesn’t feel right so I’m no longer interested in giving them my support or money (via listens/follows or patreon).
