    Disappointing
These guys don’t really do much work on their subjects on the episodes I’ve listened to. I was young also once and I have sympathy for their predicament however I don’t recommend this podcast.

    Political
Guy trying to put 2020’s woke morals on people who lived centuries ago. Has limited knowledge of historical context.

    Painful
He keeps laughing at the “stupidity” of 18th century people around women issues. Does he not realize how vaginas work? Every month, blood comes out of them. And when they have a baby, it needs to eat. Before tampons/pads, pumping/refrigeration, baby formula, most woman would be leaking fluids occasionally. Unless they paid someone to address these issues, they needed to take time off from work/education to keep their baby alive and to address the leaking. THATS WHY IT WAS UNCOMMON FOR WOMEN TO SUCCEED IN PROFESSIONAL FIELDS! This podcast is an an intelligence test. (Being less intelligent does NOT mean you are bad, inferior or unsuccessful.)

    Amateur...
Even for a podcast that is self-admittedly amateur, the word “amateur” is a huge understatement. They regularly misrepresent simple historical facts and misuse simple English words (“rationed” in place of “reasoned”, “heretical” in place of “hierarchical” for example.) And as the chemistry...let’s say the host isn’t half as funny as the lackeys pretend, and the lackeys aren’t half as good at pretending as the host seems to think.

    Don’t listen to the negativity!
This is an amazing podcast!! It makes me laugh, and you actually learn stuff! Words don’t describe how fun this podcast is.

    Annoying
Pointless conversations. Better ways to spend your podcast time.

    Do not wast your time......
    Poorly done.

    Irritating.
Last episode, all they did was complain about Trump. Grow up.

    Unique and Engaging
I have never listened to podcast that is anything like this. The host makes history jump off the page with his patented storytelling abilities and subjects that you won’t hear other historians talking about. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good story.

Fun conversation, but some bite sized episodes would be nice
There is good chemistry between the main host and his recurring series of co-hosts. It’s a fun conversation and they do a good job digging for details. The only thing I would want is for them to release the occasional shorter single part episodes - say 30-40 min inline with the Genghis Khan/Prester John episode at 44 minutes, for easier use during shorter commutes or jogs. The 3-7 part series are great, I love the depth and detail, but perfection would be a mix of the two.

Great concept, poor execution - a sad, silly waste
The host(s) typically manifest just enough information to be dangerous. Sloppy with facts, reckless with metaphors and terrifyingly free with unfounded supposition, suspicions and guesses. Sophomoric wisecracks and tiresome cynicism are what pass for wit. Downright icky at times. Bad history and worse entertainment. :(

    Love this pod
I love this quirky history podcast. Well researched and I enjoy the host too. I just found it and I’m looking forward to going through the archive!

    Interesting, in-depth, skeptical & funny
This is perfect - they take an interesting topic and dig deep into the actual historical facts behind it, but with the dorky, nerdy, sci-fi / RPG fan mindset that I can totally relate to. Entertaining in the way only truly educational discussions can be, for big history nerds.

    Great Show!
This podcast presents history in a way that most people do not think about. I’ve learned a lot from listening to it, and I’m sure you will too!!!!

    The unknown unknowns
Is "weird history" a genre? It should be! This is the podcast that tells you about things you didn't know you didn't know... and does so in a fascinating and funny way. Be prepared to have your mind blown!

    Wonderful
This is my absolute favorite podcast, makes my day go so much better and faster. Funny, insightful and educational. Great team and awesome topics. Highly recommended.

    intriguing topic
It's always interesting to think about ideas and customs that used to seem perfectly normal to thousands of people but seem totally bizarre to us. This is a great podcast for thinking about why we do things the way we do them and how that's changed over time.

    Sophomoric
Excellent concept. Unfortunately a bunch of college kids with no particular charisma or substantive knowledge laughing at each other's banter doesn't make for an entertaining or informative podcast.

    Funny and Informative
The first two episodes on an extinct Indian religion that believed in re-animating corpses was funny, and taught me a lot about something that I hadn't heard of before.

    bless a nerd
I love these glorious nerds, they talk about things that I can't talk about with other people because nobody has any idea what I'm talking about. THANK YOU FOR EXISTING AND CASTING PODS

Bringing the dead back to life
Deep within the closet old ideas are examined in the light of our 21st century's politically correct world. This lighthearted yet informative podcast is at its best when BT is alone or joined by one guest. Always interesting and entertaining, I'm looking forward to more episodes. Thanks guys!

    Good stuff.
This is an awesome look into old science. If you are interested in germ theory and other weird historical stuff give it a listen. And Pete, thanks for the shout out on the Halloween episode.

    Great so far
I love the concept behind this. I haven't heard anything like it before and I'm excited to see where it goes. Hoping to see lots of cool ancient history episodes since that's my favorite! Love it. Very glad to have found it.

    Witty weird history
This fresh podcast not only offers a laugh and a head scratch or two, but a fun way to explore cultures and history from a different perspective!

    Weird stuff
A room full of weirdos talking about strange stuff. It's like being in your own living room with your friends. Highly intellectual and intelligent viewpoints on strange topics. I highly recommend Dead Ideas.

Like the early days of lesser Bonapartes
Has the feel of a conversation about history among knowledgeable friends. Informal, funny, diverse, lots of outside references for context.

    Off to a great start!
Knowledgeable folks with an enjoyable approach to historical subjects. Definitely has that "New Podcast Sound Quality" but the potential is exciting. Asking the important questions, like... can you urinate while inhabiting a dead body?! Makes me wish I could join in on the fun, but a great listen.

    Great fun
This podcast is in the style of host talking about a subject over the episode. It works here because the great rapport the host have. The subjects are also unique and the show makes them interesting. Overall this show is a great time.

You had me at "Bird Fetus"
Excellent discussions on mankind's weird and quirky past; the hosts are clearly well chosen for their respective topics. Very informative and very funny.

    Healthy look at the past
Sound quality and consistency could be better, but topics and delivery are pretty good.

    Great Idea!
This is a fantastic idea for a podcast: look into ideas that are out of fashion/disproved and try to unpack *why* people believed them at one point. It's a great bit of history, psychology, and anthropology rolled into one. And pretty amusing. One warning, however: I tend to prefer scripted podcasts with a single speaker rather than groups discussing the topic more or less off the cuff. This is the latter type. Still, in spite of that I'm still listening and enjoying it so far. Give it a try!

    A Great Concept!
I really enjoyed the podcast! I listened to the first episode; I like the concept and I really like where it's going. The hosts have a good rapport with each other and it's quite funny. I look forward to listening to more of this.

    Good fun!
I think the idea to explore dead ideas is really great and leads to very creative, hilarious discussions on the origins and practicalities of them.

    Great Start
I like where this is going and look forward to which dead ideas are still to come.

    History made fun
Host BT Newberg and a rotating variety of guest-hosts bring the weirdest, least believable parts of history to life. The topic of every episode is an idea that people used to think was true/a good idea, but has now fallen out of favor. The hosts' passion for the ideas shows through, as the guest host is often the one who suggested and researched a topic, and the show always maintains a humorist but informative tone. Solid research, good storytelling, and slightly inebriated hosts.... What more could you ask for?
