mwaldemarGREAT SHOW!Love that this show spans beyond topics on gentrification, etc. Show does a really great job of intersexting various other topics and how they relate to our cities and towns we live in. Listen to this while doing homework. Always leaves me thinking about the world & my neighborhood in a different way.

YourOnlyJasonGreat for urban studies buffsThis podcast series is well produced. The stories are interesting, human and honest. If you like stories about urban spaces and urban planning, I haven't found a better podcast. If you like good story telling period, this is for you. My only complaint? I've listened to all of them and don't know when they'll be adding more!

GrahamProjectsGreat stories about people improving placesPlacemakers presents an enagaing array of stories about the many challenges facing cities, and how regular people are improving the places they love. From explaining old school, urban design strategies to investigating urgent issues around urban equity and justice, this podcast helps us better understand the power of place.

SnoozkiSolid armchair urbanismAs a urbanism fan that doesn't work in the industry, this is brain candy. Extremely accessible- in fact, one of my only wishes is that they would tackle subjects with a little more depth. Good stuff nonetheless.

md sssgerKeep at it!I really appreciate the story telling and the variety of people and places. Creating thriving, vibrant neighborhoods and communities is hard work, requires policy change, and the vision to move beyond the status quo. Placemakers is really helpful for many of us in this field. Keep it up!

DanielTanaPeople Making a DifferenceThis is a really great podcast. Hosted by public radio legend Rebecca Sheir (Metro Connection forever!), this show tells great stories about people who have helped better their communities, sometimes in very unique and unorthodox ways. The stories and people are inspiring and in some cases give excellent case studies for potential solutions to problems that communities all across the country are facing.

MadelineHTXGreat Motivation! As a local visionary for my community (Dalton, GA) , it can often become overwhelming and discouraging while trying to make an impact in my area. Placemakers really helps me stay encouraged and focused on my community endeavors giving me hope and insight on positive transformation. Thanks, Slate and Panoply Network, for a wonderful addition to my podcast subscription!

Amester1959Fascinating stories about places and how we live our livesI kinda stumbled on Placemakers by accident. Happy, happy accident. I've now listened to three episodes and I am definitely hooked. Fascinating stories about places and the lives lived in them. I especially loved Ep 3 about Tieton, WA, where a new migrant story is being created: the migration of artists. Underscores my belief that some of the most interesting creative work in our country is being done in small towns in New England, the Hudson and well beyond NYC and San Francisco. Great listening!

earthco77Terrific show!I was a huge fan of Rebecca Sheir's previous show, WAMU's Metro Connection, and have been anticipating her new venture with Slate for many months. Placemakers was well worth the wait. Whether it's in a tiny town or the biggest city, the real sense of community the show presents is like a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to many years of riveting stories from a great team of reporters and producers!

fat serpicoA Refreshing Perspective On CitiesThis Podcast has a lot of potential. A lot of podcasts about cities tend to focus on trends and business. I'm happy to see one taking a more personal approach. Cheers!

Uhleasequinn510Geographer's delightHaving only listened to the first and only available episode, I can already tell that this podcast will prove to be so refreshing and profoundly meaningful- at least it will be to me. A notion for the sense of a place is truly a universal phenomenon and it's articulated for everyone differently, and I just love that this podcast is committed to telling those stories. This girl from Oakland thanks the team that made this happen.

Swartz7172Great First EpisodeI loved the annalysis of how differently Jane and Robert viewed New York. The episode was incredibly incitful and intriguing.

shermanBNuanced meets Clear meets Entertaining meets Timely - this is masterful podcasting. Hear it!An introduction to Jane Jacobs and her critics that is nuanced yet easy to follow, succint yet richly human, up-to-date and intensely relevant yet timeless - all that and downright entertaining as well. Hardly anyone could combine all those qualities; Sheir makes it feel easy as only a master of the medium could. And she uses the debates to frame this new series, the rest of which I await eagerly! Highly recommended.
