    Fresh perspectives
Anna and Caroline offer whip smart and fresh analysis (with a British twist for us American listeners) on new and old pop culture

    Excellent listen
Very smart and fun reviews of important and interesting entertainment. I really like when they take suggestions from listeners and it's cool to hear them review such a wide range of entertainment/pop culture (phone games, short stories, podcasts, as well as music, TV, and movies).

    Refreshing
Long time listener first time reviewing. I love listening to this podcast every week for pop culture suggestions and discussions. Anna and Caroline are great hosts! I feel like they treat everything very fairly and I really respect their opinions. Even when they don't like something it doesn't feel judgy or anything. They cover a really great range of topics too (movies, tv, books, music, even phone games!) it's also great to hear about pop culture in the U.K. that I probably wouldn't get otherwise. I never would have heard about detectorists if it wasn't for them and so I'm obviously forever indebted. đź’•

one of my must listens each week

Pop Culture with a Youthful, Feminist Flair
This podcast features two young woman columnists from the New Statesman, which is a British left-leaning current affairs magazine. The big name pop culture podcasts (e.g., Slate Culture Gabfest and NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour) I find to be a bit staid and conservative. The two hosts of SRSLY bring a more youthful and outspokenly feminist perspective to their discussion. They also critique more "of the moment" culture, such as comic books, graphic novels, genre like sci fi and fantasy, and young adult novels and shows. They assume you know how to *find* stuff online so they are not limited to what's making the rounds on the major networks and streaming services. And they have lovely English accents.

    One of my weekly standards
I've been listening for over a year and a half: SRSLY is one of my weekly standards that I always look forward to and listen to right when it's available. Anna and Caroline have a knack for picking the pop culture topics that I have just started hearing/wondering about... it's amazing!

    Smart and Fun!

    Thoughtful, Friendly Discussion
I don't quite remember how I discovered this podcast, but it is wonderful. Anna and Caroline always have very insightful conversations and always seem excited to talk about pop culture. Perhaps the best thing about this podcast is what they choose to cover. Whereas other podcasts mostly focus on new movies and television, Srsly does a nice job of blending discussions about popular media with lesser known books, movies, etc. At the end of the show, the girls always recommend something for each other to watch/read, and these recommendations are often things that were released years ago. Because not EVERYTHING they discuss is brand new, their older episodes still very relevant, and I love catching up on episodes released before I started listening! Definitely recommend this podcast to anyone who loves pop culture.

Love SRSLY all the way in the USA
Caroline and Anna put so much thought and care into this podcast. I enjoy the mix of television, literature, and movies that they cover - some weeks they discuss current things, sometimes they get into nostalgic topics or older TV/movies they are just now discovering. So great!

    Great discussion from great ladies
I’m across the pond and don’t always get references to the most obscure British pop culture like Christmas British TV, but I enjoy this podcast immensely. The ladies approach topics with wonderful wit and a critical eye that has me second-guessing my thoughts in the best way.

    Cannot get enough
These girls are brilliant, funny, and well versed in all things pop culture. It feels like chatting with your best and coolest girlfriends! I love it and count on it for quality reviews and recommendations for TV, movies, books, and music.

    Highly entertaining
These women are so smart, witty and entertaining. They had me at Harry Potter! I'm going to be binge listening to their fabulous podcast. Also, thank you to Call Your Girlfriend for mentioning Srsly, seriously.

    SRSLY Brilliant
The hosts of SRSLY, Caroline and Anna, are extremely thoughtful in their analysis of pop culture. It’s like listening to your two best friends chat about things you all enjoy…but in an elevated way. The Harry Potter special is absolutely perfect. I hope it makes its way to J.K. Rowling’s attention so she may answer some of these major questions! My favorite aspect of the show is their recommendations to each other, and the subsequent discussion of whatever was recommended in the next episode. I long for the day when I find a crew of ladies I can enjoy similar conversation with in my own life, but until then, I can’t speak highly enough of this podcast. Well done to Caroline and Anna, as well as to your occasional guests.

    Unapologetically smart
I love the wide variety of topics that Anna and Caroline tackle on this show and how they are unapologetic about giving the same analytical weight to a children’s cartoon and a weighty piece of art film and fan fiction and all kind of other popular and serious culture. They also have such a nice conversational style and clear respect for each other’s ideas—the part where they trade recommendations is such a lovely expression of this. The special episodes they run with other critics from the New Statesman staff are also a HUGE treat. For real, the Harry Potter episode was some of the most intriguing criticism I’ve ever encountered of that series—SO thought-provoking and SO smart. This podcast has very quickly become one of my favorites and I’m so pleased that they update every week! More brilliant ladies making thoughtful podcasts, plz! (Bonus points if they are also delightfully British…)

    Pop culture feminists
I love how these women talk about pop culture through the lens of real life and feminism. They are smart and witty and sometimes self-deprecating in the best way. The Harry Potter and Love Actually specials are my favorite podcast episodes ever. Brilliant.

    Smart yet Accessible
I'm an American, living in Taipei, and I'm hooked on these 2 British women talk about pop culture. Oh what a time to be alive. This show is like having 2 best mates -- both phenomenally smart -- chat with you about the things you care about. And even though they are so incisive on topics ranging from The Economy of the Harry Potter World to Adventure Time, I never feel like it's too dense. They are the mulled wine of podcasts: refined yet cozy.
  • Me altany
    Super fun
How can you not love a podcast where cool informed ladies recommend and review pop culture? Also any show that discusses As Time Goes By has me at hello.

    SRSLY amazing
Met this podcast through Call Your Girlfriend and am SO happy I started listening. Caroline & Anna are smart, funny and easy to listen to. They have great segments on fandom, current movies/tv/writing, but my favorite is the segment where they suggest different things for the other one to read/watch/listen to. Just like if you were hanging with your best friends!

    Srsly Great
I love this show! Srsly is a fantastic pop culture podcast. Hosts Anna and Caroline are funny and delightful to listen to, but they're also very smart and knowledgable. Their discussions veer slightly to the nerdy side, so even if the topic of conversation is One Direction, you still feel like you're learning something. The podcast covers of-the-moment pop culture, as well as things you may have missed in a great pop culture homework segment. They discuss the standard fare of movies and television as well as comics, plays and novels. It's also worth noting that their conversations cover both American and British culture, so wherever you're from, you're bound to come across a show or a book you've never heard of before that you'll want to track down immediately. Just a great show all around and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

    There's a reason...
...I listened to it all in one weekend, and that's because it's excellent! Thoughtful discussions and critiques of pop culture, both things I know and love (Broad City, yass) and lots I've been introduced to (and also subsequently love). Hat tip to Call Your Girlfriend for setting us up.

    Delightful!
Probably shouldn't have binge listened to this in a week. But it warmed my pop culture heart!
  • LSeattle
    Loving Srsly!
Young feminists talking about the golden age of teen movies, Harry Styles, and spades of excellent pop culture from both sides of the Atlantic (with bonus English accents...because they are English.)

    Great listen
I love listening to Srsly. I have a hella boring job and listening to this podcast really makes me feel like I'm learning something, which I need to get me through the day. These women are so bright and they make the most interesting and contemplative remarks about pop culture. It makes me think differently, more deeply, about the kinds of media and entertainment I consume. Plus, it's really funny and very British, which is great and refreshing.
