KateJessieSuch a tributeThis is an excellent podcast. The way Phoebe tells us about Suzie and explores aspects of this mystery is nothing but respectful, informed and professional. I don’t understand the criticism of Phoebe’s voice. She’s a wonderful host for podcast. Maybe some of you should take a page from Suzie’s book and not criticize others. Suzie’s family is so beautiful and I so hope they have resolution some day.

nsdko2Narrator voice is awful!I liked the story, but the narrator’s voice makes it very hard to get lost in the story. If it’s an AI voice as same listeners are theorizing, change it. If it is a real person’s voice get them speech lessons or replace them and re-record all episodes. For me, I’m out… life is too short to spend my time concentrating on a distracting voice rather then on the story.

Diplomat5AI?Is the narrator an AI voice? Her cadence is halted like AI. (genuine question- the host is listed as Jeff something, so I’m thinking yes?)

24lernin71Respectfully doneI love how this isn’t one of those sensationalist podcasts where no real thought is given to the deceased nor the people who love them. Instead, their stories are told by an even-toned narrator who clearly cares about getting the whole story and getting it right. She also includes conversations with family members, police, and other professionals involved. It’s very interesting but not just for interests sake. I feel more like part of an investigative team and less like a voyeur

jesse0818Very interesting case, but music so loud over narrator I'm unable to listen!! Deleting it.Stop the LOUD MUSIC
-
hazelbnrConstructive inquiryI appreciate the respectful and deep research and reporting that has gone into the story of Suzy Lyle. This presentation proves that True Crime can be done without overt snark, and rely on the irony within the “stories” and people involved. Thank you.

Kevin12801More pleasePhoebe LaFave, let’s go! There’s so many more cases in this area that need light shed upon. Jaliek Rainwalker is a good one to start. I love your podcast and I hope you continue with more.

Ka27272Season one yes season 2...Season one was fantastic and I couldn’t put it down. Season two has me like drunk Joe Namath, struggling
-
CrysLeahSuch a great podcast but narrator sounds robotic!!I can’t get past the narrator talking like Siri. The coverage of the case is great, for a good cause, and very interesting but I wish she would talk like a normal human being... it would make this podcast a lot better

Bkat12345293Slow and repetitiveHeard about this from another podcast so I thought I would give it a go. That other podcast covered the story in two episodes, so I figured I would try out a deep dive. Ugh, So sloooooow and repetitive. Season 1 easily had 2 or 3 episodes that could have been condensed into one episode. I really had to power through season 1 hoping it was new podcast growing pains, but season 2 actually starts off worse. 1/2 way through the first episode I had no idea what I was even listening to. So much time spent about how great true crime podcasts are and not actually talking about the case. What’s really baffling to me is how they mention other great true crime shows but take nothing from the formula. Witty, thought provoking,Cliff hangers. None of that here. Time is spent saying the same things over and over. And again it’s weird how much time is spent talking about the usefulness of crime podcasts in general. Weird. Host said it would be impossible to cover the story in just one episode, well thats how I ended up giving this a shot; from a mention from another show that covered it all in 2 episodes. I don’t mind a slow burn, but like the host said true crime podcasts are so useful so I’m going to have to look somewhere else for that.

mackie!Love it- Can’t get enoughLove the artistry and the style of these podcasts! So intriguing and never want to put it down! I’m from Clifton Park, NY (Capital Region - between Albany, Troy, and Saratoga) if you ever have an questions! I was born and raised in the same house my whole like in this capital region life.
-
EvaB4PotentialGood podcast with a lot of potential but a little repetitive and the narrator goes on talking about about the emotional/sensitive things too much I think, like not every episode needs to have these emotional pleas, it gets a little redudent.
-
gf414Good podcast with growing painsI like this podcast a lot and the stories are interesting. I have no issue with the host and her voice or her delivery. Unfortunately I do think the podcast is a teeny bit disorganized though. The episodes sometimes just stops. For example, there is no see you next week, no episode summary, or next episode preview. No bye or anything. So it’s complete silence after a sentence and I’m expecting more but then I look and the episode is over. There are also some long wait times between a few episodes and no knowledge if a new one is coming or not. Not much future episode information is available on social media either so I’m left in the dark sometimes. I just noticed today the season 2 finale is out but the last episode of season 2 was about a month ago so I completely forgot about the details of the case and I’m not sure if I want to go back and re-listen. Again, no indication that they were going to release a finale episode in what is now, the penultimate episode. I also remember there being background music over the narration and really hating that because it was so distracting and unnecessary. I don’t remember if this happened in both seasons or only in season 1. These are just minor annoyances but the true crime genre is so saturated that many listeners aren’t willing to stick around and wait for things to be fixed.
-
haylee ✨Keep it up Phoebe!I love the calm in Phoebe’s voice. The cases you have covered are interesting and I’m exciting to keep listening! Love ya girl.
-
momlovescrimeGreat job!I love this podcast! Im all caught up and can’t wait for more! Thank you!!
-
Gem531iniCan’t listenThe content is interesting, especially for someone from the capital region, but the cadence and inflection of the speakers voice is almost unbearable. This isn’t the channel 9 news. Is it too much to ask for a speaker who is less stiff and less like speed reading through a script?!?
-
HarNess81Needs a personal touchI am so interested in true crime But I watch the news to get a news anchor approach or listen to NPR. This isn’t meant to sound like hate. Just want some emotion tied to this. You are the voice of the victim and their families to incite emotion from your listeners. You sound more personable with the families. That same empathy is not conveyed through your narration. I want this to succeed. But would implore you to give your own opinions, and how you feel. It sounds very cold. But I wish you so much success!
-
weinmanshahaters...Phoebe love this podcast. And I listen to many podcasts. Many ppl make the mistake to just tell a story without any tone I can’t even get through 5 mins. You’re doing great and keep up the good work.
-
QHShowomanCould’ve been interesting...but...This would’ve been an interesting podcast were it not for the narrator’s dull delivery. Was she reading a script that someone else wrote from cue cards the entire time? Or was she trying to sound “journalistic”? Whatever it was, the end result was boring.
-
Bms-12A for effortI just can’t follow or stay interested in this podcast. I think it’s the delivery of information.
-
BschoraSeason 1 episode 1 I already HATE the super yappy ads.Maybe people that watch television like loud, hyped-up ads, but I listen to podcasts as I wind down at night before sleep. And yappy produced advertisements will lead me to Unsubscribe. I know you guys have to make money, but other casters do this quietly... podcast listeners are not like the radio, or television crowd.
-
tankbottoms_ethKeep rocking PhoebeIgnore the rude and odd comments. Great work! This was awesome! I loved your intonations! Super detailed! I heard of your podcast from True Crime Bullsh**t! Had heard this story several times in 20 minutes to 60 minute episodes, but loved this deep dive! Entertaining and ambitious!

kmlkml28Love that it’s local, not a great hostI love that this is a local story and to be honest that’s the only reason I continued to listen, if it wasn’t for that I would never have continued. The way Phoebe delivers the story is very hard to follow. She speaks like she’s an inexperienced newscaster reading directly from a piece of paper and emphasizes words in the most incredibly odd places and takes pauses at all the wrong moments, I really don’t think this is for her. I wish she spoke a little more conversationally or loosely and not so scripted. I really get distracted by the terrible delivery of the story. I do hope they continue making the podcast with local stories but I hope she either improves the way she tells a story or they find a better host.
-
Honzy65Ugh.Potential for such a great podcast, but Phoebe, you emphasize certain words so oddly. It’s a huge distraction. I’d love to listen to more stories from you guys in the future, but this one was so hard to get through because of the way you speak.
-
Dream2429Great PodcastI listened to this podcast in one (1) day! The podcast is well written and informative.
-
Jude the noobNews anchorHard to stay on track with the way the host tells the story. Sounds like a news anchor and not a story teller.
-
FitzconsinRiveting Podcast. You gotta check it out!!I’m giving this podcast five stars mainly because I hope it accomplishes it’s goal to encourage anyone with knowledge of this case or the people involved to come forward. But, despite the silly criticisms raised in other reviews, this was a fascinating, riveting series. Extremely well done in almost every area. Listen to the first couple episodes-you will be hooked. Congratulations to all involved in producing this piece, you did a wonderful job.
-
fdgfhfgwsh54wyhExpected betterWas hopeful this would be a great series, but after listening to the first half I had to stop. I'd recommend speaking like you are in normal dialogue and not like a newscaster, emphasizing the wrong words in a sentence and speaking with so many pauses. There was no hook, nothing to keep the podcast engaging.
-
00jendoll00Very interestingI loved the podcast and can’t wait to hear more local stories. I am hoping for one on jalek skywalker!
-
gg88888ssssDocumentaryYou have to be able to pronounce documentary correctly. This is a common word and can easily be looked up to make sure you’re pronouncing it correctly. Please go back and edit at least the first episode where you keep saying documentary incorrectly.
-
XenaBluGood podcast I remember this ...I remembered when this happened. I can’t even imagine the pain her family and friends are going through. The idea of not knowing what happened has to be the worst thing, always having questions that can’t or won’t be answered but after listening to this I really believe that the Condon family had something to do with her disappearance. I only hope that someone gets a conscience and does the right thing and tells what they know. Suzy’s family deserves that!
-
koli12198Speaking SpeedI’m genuinely confused by people who say that phoebe needs to slow down while she speaks. If anything she could take it up a speed notch. It would sound more conversational and less newscaster that way...at least for me. I’m honestly stymied by that particular critique. How slow do you want her to go?
-
KatySpencerFantastic!I truly enjoy this podcast. Phoebe’s voice is so soothing and the hard work put in is evident on every episode.
-
Salacious SlotLoving this!!!Fantastic pod cast!! I can’t wait for all the rest to come out. Your voice is actually really soothing to me. Most female voices on pod cast I can’t stand. To the person that said you need to slow down while speaking...maybe that person needs to adjust the speed of their pod cast. I’m ADHD and I listen this on the fastest speed. If I don’t no pod cast will hold my attention. I’m obsessed with true crime as many Americans are. The difference is I’ve been obsessed since I was a little girl. I’m currently kicking myself for not going to criminal justice school and instead going to nursing school. So many people go missing in Upstate NY. My hair roots got tingly when they started talking about Israel Keyes. I knew that he was up in the ADK, I had no idea he had come to our area. Every year when the spring thaw hits they find bodies along the Hudson, but still no Suzy and still no Jaliek Rainwalker. I think you guys should totally do a series on him. Anyway great work keep it coming!!
-
VictJustGreat IdeaGreat Idea and really good Podcast. I keep going over the case and I keep coming up the Boy friend and his mommy knows.
-
ohgdaetiohfzerbjiGood topic, but the reporter’s credibility is questionableI’m glad Suzy’s case is getting more attention, but when the reporter can’t even get her hometown right, it calls the accuracy of the whole project into question. Suzy lived in Milton, not Ballston Spa. And when this was pointed out to WGY, they insisted that they were right, even though any map will tell you they’re wrong. Good journalists would issue a correction. Instead, the reporter doubled down on the error in a later episode, insisting that while other missing people were from Milton, Suzy was from “10 minutes away.” That’s completely false: Even if she WAS from Ballston Spa (she wasn’t), the village borders the town; it’s not “10 minutes away.” It might seem fairly trivial, but if they don’t care about getting the basic facts correct, what else have they gotten wrong?
-
joscelybLove it!Great start to a new podcast! I’m addicted. I only wish there were more episodes available per week.
-
LuckystaradI like it!Referred by Unfound podcast and I’m enjoying this.
-
ScrabbleBabe6669Voice Critics Kindly F-OffThe narrator has one of the only female voices I can stand in podcast hosting. “Robotic” is an ignorant claim, it’s called pronunciation which this generation isn’t used to because most spout their thoughts without any consideration for correct grammar or even completing a whole word (it’s perfECT, not perf). Love the pacing, the music and the tone overall. I truly enjoy this podcast and am always eager for the next weeks episode. Keep up the good work!
-
CmdnjdVery interesting!Well done! The episodes are short but impactful, which I really appreciate. I can listen to a full episode on my way to work. I wish more people who knew Suzy would speak with you about her. Fascinating! I pray this family someday gets real answers.
-
HodgelovesTCClose to homeThis is so close to my house, only a few blocks away. Fascinating case!
-
mydearmandaGreat Podcast!I’m really enjoying this podcast and I like how they’ll be focusing on Upstate NY cases. I like that they’re literally walking the listeners through the case step by step and visiting the locations where certain events occur. I’m from the area, so I can visualize where they are. It might be helpful for people unfamiliar with the area if the podcaster described or gave a short history of certain areas, like how Troy, Schenectady, and Albany are considered the tri-cities because they’re all roughly 15-20 minutes from each other. Maybe a description of key areas, like the Stewart Shop and how it’s relatively close to the College of Saint Rose and it’s also on the edge of a rougher neighborhood downtown. Also, I kind of agree with previous reviews in how the background noise is distracting, especially when recording on location, they should probably reserve the music for transitions.
-
kk1417Love it!I love this podcast, and I’m so interested to hear more of her story. I’m hooked.
-
mtnsandmerlotCaptivating new crime podcastUpstate Unsolved is a well-thought out presentation of a thorough look into a locally unsolved case. Not only is it extremely interesting, but you can quickly tell that it means business and that those behind the podcast are working diligently to find answers to the unsolved mystery. Love it; can’t wait for next Thursday!
-
PodcastAddict719I’m enjoying it but....I’m enjoying this podcast. The only critiques I have are the background music is distracting at time and the narrator is kind of robotic. She’s speaking as if she is delivering the 5 o’clock news, but with even less emotion. However, I’ll continue listening because I want to learn about this case.
-
Chuckie richTop notch!Heart breaking, especially as an alumni if SUNY Albany. Well done podcast about a girl who’s family never gave up on her.
-
ThrasherYLots of problemsI know none of the details about this case, so I was very interested in listening to this podcast. I was disappointed. The background music is annoying. The first episode gave no information about the case. They jump around on different topics and lost me about half way through. I thought the second episode would, but they jumped into a trip to the mall and interviewed random people. Again, since I have no idea about the case, this was just annoying and confusing. Finally, the narrator speaks very quickly and is difficult to follow. This is hardly ever an issue for me, so it’s really bad.
-
jordan.1014Love it2 episodes in and it’s great so far! The story is really interesting and it’s nice to see this case get more attention. The host has a good voice for radio, not sure what that one reviewer was listening to.
-
NateSJUVery interestingGreat job by the host. Will continue to listen
-
ACE 518#AddictedFirst episode has me hooked. Love the way the way the story has started to roll out. Can’t wait for the rest.
