Aw...Crap, a Hellboy Podcast

28

In 1991, comic book writer-artist Mike Mignola simply wanted to draw a monster for a comic convention program. Yet by adding the name HELLBOY to the creature's belt, Mignola set in motion the creation of one of the most iconic superhero comics to ever be printed. Since Hellboy's first appearance in 1993, the artistic style and storytelling of Mignola has influenced fan and artist alike. These include your hosts Mark David Christenson and Kait Thompson, who have chosen to dedicate an entire show to the half-demon hero.

    Great podcast with great hosts!
I’m a huge Hellboy fan, and this pod gives me greater appreciation for the comics. More importantly, the hosts are SO much fun.

    BOOM!
BOOM! Hey, it's uh... me, Kait. I know, writing a five star review for your own podcast is like voting for yourself for Student Council President, but just chill out. I don't come to your podcast and knock the macbook out of your hands. Only Ogdru Jahad can judge me.

    BOOM!!
Kait and Mark share their new, and renewed, appreciation to the mystic and atmospheric Mignolaverse. Their podcast is insightful, exuberant and modest as they share recent and former stories, news and updates of everyones favorite paranormal detective.

BOoM! Awwwwwww CraaaaaaaaaaAAAP A HELLBOY POOOOOODCAAAAAST
*Hellboy 2004 Broom Voice* What is it that makes a good podcast a good podcast? Is it their content — the way things start? Or is it something else, something harder to describe? I didn’t find “‘Aw... Crap’, a Hellboy Podcast”, they found me. Being an amateur artist on Instagram means I use a hell of a lot of hashtags to get noticed and I got a like and a follow after a quick doodle in excitement for the 2019 movie. I then looked them up on Spotify and quickly fell in love. From MDC stumbling over words honestly to Kait giving amazing insights to the artist vision of Mignola. Listening to these episodes is more than finally having friends who care about Hellboy as much as I do, these are beautiful sincere people who I know Hellboy him self would love to sit down and have some drinks with them. This is the best Hellboy podcast out there, because more than any other podcast, these guys care about their listeners as much as they care about their podcast. Thank you for all of the hard work guys, I love you!

    Boom! What a podcast!
Having just recently gotten into Hellboy myself, I was so eager to find a podcast or a YouTube series that would discuss the series as I was moving through it. And at first, I was disheartened at the lack of Hellboy discussion content that existed out there in the world. And then I stumbled upon Aw Crap, A Hellboy Podcast. Our favorite Crappers have filled that void so completely and perfectly for me, and I’m sure for everyone else that has been listening along. I’m always a little awkward when it comes to leaving reviews, because I normally don’t leave reviews for things unless I really enjoy them, so I kind of stumble along until I reach a good stopping point. The good stopping point here? Thanking Mark and Kait for bringing so much joy and depth to my Hellboy reading, and for making me laugh and appreciate this glorious four-color world more than I ever thought I could.

    Boom Crappers!!
Boooooooooooom! You guys have a great podcast. I recently found you and started from episode one. I am almost caught up (2 episodes from being current). When I first listened I was hoping for something that would elivate my Mignolaverse knowledge and intel on Mike himself. As soon as I heard you guys miss-pronounce Mike Mignola's last name I cursed you guys so hard. As I continued listening to episodes and allowed you guys to mature and become true Hellboy and Mike Mignola officianados I have become a fan. I started reading Hellboy around 2002 and have never taken a break from Mignola and have listened or read anything he has produced or interviewed on including attending as many in person interviews as I could find and afford. I will send an email too but I won't do that until I'm 100% caught up with you guys. Boom!! Can't wait for Hellboy 2019!! -Wes @wesmattice (insta) (Proud member of the Aww Crappers! I think you guys should be proud to be Crappers )

    Great!
Fun little show that gets into the details of this excellent series as well as some of the expanded universe. The hosts are very chatty and really seem to enjoy the material.

A wonderful dive into the best comic series
Aw...Crap is a timeless take on the comic book review format: two hosts, one with background and experience, the other coming in fresh, go issue by issue and talk about what they like. Aw...Crap mostly focuses on the art and style of the series, but also talk about upcoming projects, related materials, and a few unrelated ones. It's a very lively, fun, positive show that resonates with fans and newcomers alike. The audio quality is top knotch, the hosts have great chemistry, and the pacing (length, release schedule, format, style) is spot on. A must of fans of Hellboy, or even just comics.
