Horror has never been afraid to take on topical issues. Matty and Andrew do an excellent job of talking real life horror and the movies we love so much.

To start, I’m embarrassed it took me this long to write a review, as I’ve been a fan since the pandemic. Now that that is out of the way. Matty and Andrew never disappoint with the thought-provoking, humorous and always entertaining takes on world events, pop culture, and entertainment. The format of this pod is quite fun, well organized, and the guys always have their fingers on the pulse of what’s topical in this crazy world we live in. Keep on thrilling, amusing and educating us; we are better people because of it.

I don’t watch a lot of horror movies, but I listen to every episode of this show. I love the dives into the hx of each topic. Love the cold opening, always so entertaining. I also love to hear about a movie a may decide to watch (or not watch!). Love the rants. Love that their friendship shines through. And I love most that they make an effort to include all the alphabet in their discussions. So easily the other letters are left off discussions or observations and I love that they champion all of us. Here’s to 130 more eps!

Been listening since the pandemic. Fun and insightful. Watched many good movies because of these two. I don’t always agree with their opinions, but always appreciate a different perspective.

These gents are clever, queer, and always up for a good scare. And I don’t just say that because I have the pleasure of knowing them IRL. ;) I’m not a big horror movie fan, so I slept on this podcast waaaay too long. The ‘Horror in Real Life’ segments hit on many issues that matter to me, and the ‘Horror in Media’ has me thinking I might try some of these scarier films… who needs sleep, anyway?

Just wanted to say thanks for the Pride 2023 episode, and for talking about how you both evolved on bi issues. I’ve really appreciated you two openly supporting trans and bi+ folks recently and self-reflecting. Of course, the movie recommendations and reviews are also fabulous but feeling more supported as a QT listened took me from a 4 to a 5. Happy Pride, friends!

FriGay is my absolute favorite podcast! As a horror fan, and a queer person, Matty and Andrew are incredibly relatable and their casual but researched conversations feel like you’re just gabbing with some of your friends. That said, you absolutely don’t need to be queer to love this pod. There are a LOT of horror podcasts out there but what makes FriGay so unique is how they relate the themes of the films with real life issues. Give it a listen. You won’t be disappointed!

This is probably the best horror podcast I’ve stumbled on in quite some time!

Hosts who are knowledgeable AND funny AND sound great? Almost impossible to find in horror podcasting. This show is a delight and will cause your watchlist to explode. I mean, they paired The Neon Demon with The Eyes of Laura Mars. Genius!

I am *not* a horror fan, but my boyfriend is, and i am queer. Ive been bingeing for a few weeks from episode one. These two care a lot about their podcast and really try to give something special with the time you share with them. It’s been a great way to explore movies my partners talked about before without having to watch them.

Matty and Andrew like horror movies and connecting the dots between what scares us on film and what scares us in real life. You may not always agree with their assessments on this or that horror movie, or with their politics. That's acceptable in a liberal democracy; despite the current political energy. It's nice when we agree. When we don't agree, that's an invitation for discussion. At the end of the day, we all love the horror genre, and in real life most of us believe that differences in real life are not necessarily cause for repression. We find our common ground and why that ground is worth our universal defense, as a people and a society. Great job, Matty and Andrew.

I just was told about this podcast yesterday and am already loving it. I can’t wait to go back and listen to some of the older episodes and laugh like I did with the recent ‘sex’ episode!

I love how Matty and Andrew talk about the real-life counterparts to the genre topics they’re discussing. They do so much research for each episode and do really interesting deep dives, you owe it to yourself to listen if you’re a horror fan.

I found this podcast a few weeks ago and now I can’t get enough. After listening to a couple of episodes, I am now starting from episode one. I find myself wanting to watch the movies before the episode so I can fully get what they are saying and it makes it so much fun! If you’re a horror queer, I totally suggest this podcast. You won’t regret it!

This podcast is one of my favorites. I’ve listened to every episode, some multiple times. The hosts have the chemistry of long time friends, and both bring their own unique perspectives to the conversation.

Andrew and Matty have been with me on many a commute home from work, and I’ve enjoyed every single second of it. My favorite moment? Me being terrified to listen to HIGHWAYS ARE TERRIFYING bc driving, but having them comfort me with safe travels whilst listening to the episode. They care about what’s going on whilst giving great recs through “Whatcha been watching, bit*h?” while following it up with great views on the chosen horror films of the week. Love them! Love the podcast!

When the hosts cover horror movies the podcast is interesting. Unfortunately 2/3s of the podcast is just them ranting about their alt left politics on issues they seem to have little to no understanding of past whatever the socialist bullet points of the day on Twitter are.

Okay these guys are on to something. I just reviewed FriGay the 13th on my podcast “Just One Listen” and these guys are outstanding. So niche they make every other niche jealous you can’t help but have fun listening to their bits and funny commentary. You guys are great! Keep it up!

Love this podcast! Andrew and Matty’s dynamic reminds me so much of my relationship with my best friend - they’re so fun to listen to! I’ve gotten several great movie recommendations while listening, which is an added bonus considering I’ve been watching a lot of trash TV during the pandemic, so thank you guys for that! I don't watch scary movies, but this podcast is fun, entertaining, exciting, and just all around amazing. And the best part? They won't scare you off. Also, you should leave a review, too! More details: the hosts are so funny and I have spent the past few months with Matty and Andrew helping me with all the house projects. Building furniture? Putting together a snow blower? They’re there all the way.

Matty & Andrew are quite the entertaining pair; able to hold court commenting on current events, personal stories and then segueing into some hilarious takes on Horror films that are sure to please the masses, from the hardcore fans to the casual sampler. Don’t miss them- this show is quality. Nice work gentlemen.

Highly recommend this podcast if you like some political talk, great “to-watch” recommendations and really good movie analyzing! I’m not a horror movie person, per se, but I love movies in general. And I love IMDb-ing all the movies while i listen to look up the actors in the movies and for the older ones, to look at the pictures of the incredible outfits! It doesn’t hurt that my political views line up with theirs pretttty much spot on. Keep up the great work! 💚

Andrew and Matty both rule, and this podcast is no exception. Frigay brings important queer voices to the genre, dissecting and discussing our favorite films thru a lens so often disregarded in horror critique. If you are looking for a new horror podcast, this is it.

If you’re looking for a queer positive, informative and fun take on genre films and more then you’re definitely in the right spot. This is a great listen. If you’re not looking for those things, why would you click on a show with this title? Are you some kind of demented weirdo?

I just recently started listening from episode 1 and I’m already starting episode 21 right now. I’m obsessed with this funny and informative podcast and I listen to it everyday while I work. I love listening to Andrew and Matty talk- as a fellow queer born-and-raised Hoosier, I really relate to Matty when he talks about political topics and whatnot. Also the humor is so uplifting and entertaining, this is great to listen to when getting ready for my day or driving home after work. As a queer horror podcaster, this makes me proud of the community of LGBTQA+ horror podcasters!

Andrew and Matty are awesome and have great co-host chemistry as they hit on so many intriguing topics. I came just expecting a horror movie podcast but was blown away by their interesting take on real life horrors. Worth the listen!

I really, really enjoy this podcast! It has great structure, fantastic audio quality, and the hosts really command the topics. Great voices for podcast and you can tell the hosts have such great chemistry. Definitely recommend if you want a hilarious, chill, and spooky pod!

Working thru the catalog from the beginning. Matty and Andrew are a true delight to listen to. They seem like the type of people that you could really enjoy hanging out with and discussing all manner of topics with and would respect your opinion whether they agree with it or not. They are simply who they are and want everyone to be able to do the same!

Started listening on the Camping episode, but have been meaning to listen for quite some time (avid retweeter, though). Really love the humor and banter. Great mix of personal stories and fact-driven content. There are few voices in Podcasting that are as quickly paced and witty without talking over each other. As a trans lady who loves horror movies, this show is a wonderful find. Please, just keep doing what you're doing! There are so few shows that feel this genuine in their conversations. Subscriber for life!
