    Reading the Wikipedia
Most rewatch shows count on the audience to have watched the show also. They literally go scene by scene & try to explain a movie that they didn’t understand. They actually made Paul F Tompkins less funny, which is nearly impossible.

My baby and I love them
I love every season of this show. Nicole Byer should absolutely be a super star by now. Lauren is equally as funny and an excellent foil to Nicole. I have laughed hysterically my whole maternity leave. And my baby has smiled (maybe had gas) while listening to these episodes with me. Stop listening to Joe Rogan and listen to them.

Turns out, tv personalities have none IRL.
They watch the movies they don’t care about at all. And Read them back to you like you're the dumb one. There is no joy. No one is interested and it shows. What is the point? I find it super weird. Idk about you but having to have a guest explain a movie to me would be super embarrassing. Skip this one.

Bend It Like Beckham horrible guests
I’m sort of surprised at the lack of attention any cultural aspect of the movie got with minimal understanding. I honestly really enjoyed this podcast but I was very turned off of a few of the guests this episode. It was quite frankly very disappointing and I think the first episode I couldn’t finish in full.

    Love the new genres
I rediscovered this podcast the other day— glad to see y’all are still going strong. The Scorsese season was a fun surprise. I could see y’all getting into David Lynch and/or Stanley Kubrick movies. Also, I was convinced you had already done the Twilight movies but that must have been a fever dream, lol.

So fun exploring new movie franchises with these hilarious hosts

It only took me five minutes of listening to realize this is the worst podcast ever made
I would rather punch myself in the face as hard as I could for an hour straight than listen to this podcast. The hosts are intolerable and insanely obnoxious.

Lauren and Nicole are a delight!
This is a show where I listen to the same episodes over and over again. Thanks so much for all the laughs!

I want to like this show.
I love both of these women in so many ways and in so many other performances and capacities, but this podcast gives me agita. When they’re recapping movies they ask questions about the movies because they don’t understand some portion which is fine. If you don’t understand you should ask. Except 3/4 of the time the movies literally spell out for you the answer to their questions and somehow they miss it. I thought I would get used to it but I just can’t. I love podcasts about movies, and I love how funny these two are in general but it’s like they aren’t paying attention to the movie. I mean, maybe I’m just old…maybe I’m just too familiar with the movies. It could be me. Honestly, this podcast is maddening for me. 2 stars

Begging you for a second marvel season!!!
Every time I get the urge to rewatch one of the marvel movies I just turn on an episode of this pod! I’ve listened to all the episodes multiple times, imagine how long that would have taken if I had watched the movies instead, yikes!! PLEASE do another season filling in the Marvel gaps and watching new ones. I knowww that you guys don’t like these movies but do it for us, your fans. I love your takes and I love you hating on the films. I don’t want you to suffer but I neeeeed to know your opinions on all of these marvel movies!

    So little effort
Truly just a waste of time, both of them have better podcasts to listen to where they at least bring some energy. Newcomers just feels like they’re joylessly cranking episodes out.

    Do they like movies
Would be chill if they liked any movie at all

    Disappointed by 8/20 episode
I have loved this podcast from the beginning, but I was truly so upset by how the episode on Bend it Like Beckham was handled. It was pretty shocking to me that they wouldn’t have a South Asian guest to talk about what this movie meant not just for queer sports loving women & femmes, but for children of immigrants who saw themselves in this struggle to be true to themselves within family/cultural expectations. I tried to listen even though the tone was so dismissive of things that spoke directly to being an immigrant kid among non-immigrant kids (the locker room change scene was less about queer anxiety and more the anxiety of coming from a very conservative culture and suddenly being surrounded by women who had no qualms about showing their bodies) but it got to be too much, there seemed to be no knowledge or awareness from the hosts or guests about immigrant attitudes, anxieties, and dynamics. They were laughing at “why would this aunty know her horoscope” but didn’t know that in South Asian culture, astrology is very prevalent and its extremely common for children’s natal charts to be recorded and used in the family. There also was so discussion of the fact that this movie came out in the 2000s, when attitudes toward queerness were extremely different and taboo, and there was so situating of the character’s queer codedness in the context of immigration and cultural difference. I love this podcast but this was such a missed opportunity and such a letdown that came off as seriously culturally insensitive.

    Put in time out
My wife and I listen every week after work. We watch the upcoming movies over the weekend in preparation for our Tuesday evening listen party. As a lifelong fan of of the sports movie genre, I have been just giddy with excitement. However, the people responsible for choosing these movies need to go sit in a corner and reflect on their choices. So far, the only solid picks have been Rocky and White Men Can’t Jump. I really wished I could’ve been there for Rocky. It is more than an underdog story. It is about overcoming abuse and the different coping mechanisms of those survivors. I could write so much about this beautiful movie. I hope you give it another watch someday. Love you both, Jason.

Have yet to correctly predict whether they will like or dislike a movie LOL but a very enjoyable listen, makes me laugh a lot!

Will make a podcast listener of me yet…
So first off I don’t generally love podcasts. But I love Nicole so much and love movies so much and finally had to start listening during the Marvel season since I love Marvel. I listened to my first one on a walk and cackled out loud multiple times - I’m sure my neighbors were concerned. And then I started listening more regularly and laugh so much all the time. And it makes me watch movies I’ve not seen and was avoiding because meh feelings but then watched and was brought around! But knowing what worked and what didn’t sincerely helped me enjoy them more. And sometimes I’m inspired to rewatch things I’ve not rewatched in a while. So I might just have to admit I’m a podcast listener now.

    Their ignorance is frustrating
I’d like to give 5 stars. I find the hosts entertaining and the format is fun. What I find infuriating is Lauren and Nicole interpret these films with virtually no knowledge of any historic events that proceeded their coming of age. ‘What is a Cold War?’ Are you kidding me? They should sue their high schools for gross negligence. They repeatedly show disdain, amazement and ignorance for and of numerous historical and cultural milestones that proceeded them. Grow up. Learn a little history as every generation who proceeded you managed to do.

    The Best Pod
Do I love movies? Eh. Do I love podcasts? Sure. Do I love comedy? Usually. Do I love Nicole and Lauren? ABSOLUTELY.
  • SmartOvercoat
    JUSTIFIED
At the beginning, Nicole and Lauren covered franchises I’ve been familiar with, so it’s been wonderful to have them bring their incisive perspective to films I’ve also been actively avoiding! Now I truly understand how joyous and supportive it feels to have them say, “Yeah, this film — that people have been saying FOR YEARS is the best, I just have to see it — is boring and doesn’t make any sense and why oh why does anyone like it?!?” What a healing balm.

Been ride or die since season one
“I guess I love black people more than I love t*tties” is one of the realest and funniest things I’ve ever heard. Have been laughing with (and sometimes at, tbh) Lauren & Nicole & their hot takes on classics since Newcomers: Star Wars. Five stars only. Keep going!

Killer Moon Review - Thank you
I’ve avoided watching the movie because I felt it would break my heart. I appreciate the all of the history / knowledge / info that Ryan shared with us. I’ll be sure to watch the movie now. Thank you!!!

This podcast feels like hanging out with friends, but whenever I approach Nicole or Lauren, they act like they don’t know me.

    Melanie Field
Thanks to Melanie Field for destroying the magic of the “A League of Their Own”tv series within the first 5 minutes of the show. Let people enjoy the fun baseball show without your lame peek behind the curtain that blows up all the wonder

    My favorite podcast
Had to come here to write a review after Lauren’s “four balls” joke on the League of their Own episode. I nearly fell over from laughing so hard.

Newcomers are in a league of their own!
It took me until Nicole’s impression of Jon lovitz to realize it WASNT Jon lithgowe and I’m an idiot. 5 stars!

Consistently Hilarious, Often Insightful, Always Worthwhile
To quote Nicole, this podcast always makes me “tee hee hee.” Wasn’t sure if I was on board for the sports movie season but I have loved every episode so far, especially hearing everyone absolutely eviscerate Rudy.

    Skipping
The Martin Scorsese season was brutal to get through. Maybe this podcast has run out of fun movies to cover? Most of the guests on that season were annoying white men who over talked the girls. Skipping the sports season as well. No interest in that.

    Theme Song is a banger
I love this show and the music! This seasons theme music slaps as the kids would say.
  • EEKOnFilm
Love the chemistry, love the critiques, love the jokes.
Nicole and Lauren are very funny! Their unique perspectives on these Marvel blockbusters, Scorsese classics, and Sports flicks (to name a few) are greatly appreciated! I just have one question: is Lauren from Chicago/Evanston? ;p Look, I get it: I’m a Chicagoan myself. We have a lot of pride, lol Keep up the great work, everyone!

    Getcha head in the game!!
Loved you guys since day one. I listen to reruns on my harder days. Does highschool musical count a sports movie, because yes plz. Thanks for keeping us laughing. (Season suggestion- newcomers recap? Where you go back and fill in with new content from old subjects)
  • NessySpooky
    Wow!wowwowwwow!
Updating my review for the newest season! I feel like we ripped right through the last season, and the Batman season was so fun! It made me want to go back and watch the movies. Now we’re into sports… and this might be a season where I juuuust listen lol 🌈🤣 I am not a sport gay

    Lapkus + Byer + films + confusion = gold
Why listen? Two of the funniest women on the planet have clearly not dated enough nerdy men in their life, since they've barely seen Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Batman, etc. Each season focuses on a different franchise, and in each episode they give a detailed recap and share reactions—frequently bewilderment—with each other. They invite a guest who is usually a fanboy/fangirl of the franchise, and who usually tries to get the girls to love the film. This usually doesn't work, but Nicole and Lauren's continuing bafflement is endearing and hilarious. And once in a while they'll actually love one of the movies! The Scorsese season was probably the best yet, since they were actually really into the films and offered some pretty insightful analysis alongside their typical humorous banter. My suggestion: Do more arty directors in the future! I'd *LOVE* to listen to the David Lynch or Wes Anderson or PT Anderson seasons!

    Best Podcast Hands Down!
Found this podcast after listening to HDTGM, and fell in love! Started with the Fast Franchise, had me laughing so hard every episode. From there followed you both through the MCU timeline and Batman Movies! I’ve never listened to a podcast that made me cry from laughter. Definitely going back to the start to listen. Please don’t ever stop this!! I love you both! Glad to have you back! Tee Hee

    Such joy!
Y’all, Nicole Beyer is seriously so charismatic that I laugh out loud along with her when I’m listening alone! I would love to hear their takes on Werner Herzog films 🤓
  • RonniLC
    All the giggles!
Lauren and Nicole, I watch almost none of the movies you cover! But I love listening to you talk about them and giggle, all of the giggles! I feel like I don’t have to watch them after listening to the episodes- from the plot summaries you read and the commentary you give, everything is covered! And in a way funnier way than I would experience watching the movie myself!
  • AnandGaitonde
From Lord of the Rings to Scorsese
Newcomers is the ideal way to experience Martin Scorsese’s work for the first time (as he intended).

    So much fun!
I would listen to Nicole read the phone book. She’s so f&@ing funny! I love her and Lauren together. This show makes me laugh and I look forward to it every week! I love Sonic & Knuckles now! Thanks, Nicole💜💜
