Hasile65DisappointingWhat happened to Ellie It’s like he caught the MAGA virus Why so much negativity towards Jack Smith ?? Seems like he would understand the very difficult job Smith stepped into. and could manage a better attitude about him instead of the seething one he currently shows. is Ellie looking for a spot in the Trump administration ? Sadly I can no longer listen I work hard to be sure I hear all sides of various political happenings Elli used to be a go to for me but now I must move on Please go back and listen to yourself see what you think do better or you could…Be Best 😂🤣

Mofo41Latest episodeThank you Barb for your well described outcomes if we skirt the rule of law.

JackieLadybugLeaving because of Elie HoenigHoenig gave fascist Trump legal cover. He will be well paid in order to maintain his plastic surgery costs. We are losing our democracy because Elie needs to pay for Botox and fillers. Or, because there is kompromat on him.

WWWalshElie HonigI rate the podcast 5 stars, but I will no longer listen to Elie Honig.

SFProducerThe next Jonathan Turley - I’m done with this guyI’ve listened from the first episode - and something’s happened to Elie’s analysis. When he gets a prediction wrong, he tends to double down in his misdirection. A continuing focus of his finger-wagging is Jack Smith. I don’t know whether it’s professional jealousy or just muddled thinking, but Elie’s analysis (?) of Smith’s filing released by Judge Chutkan conveniently skitters around the facts and circumstances surrounding the case. Honig minces about accusing Jack Smith of not following “ordinary case procedure — yet he completely ignores how we got here — with Trump rope-a-doping any standard procedure and the Supreme Court further dragging out the case and issuing a ruling that completely obliterates Honig’s “ordinary case procedure.” This case is anything but ordinary! Gaming the timeline is all Trump - and he shouldn’t be given a pass just because he’s running for office. Essentially Elie Honig answers the question posed by the title of his most recent book: “Untouchable: How Powerful People Get Away With It” - it’s because of guys like Elie … over and out on this podcast.

sfncarElie is the cheap shotThis is … fill in you foul word of choice. First you foist him on longtime paid subscribers and then you let him deliver more of his trash. Well this is it. I’m done with Cafe. I can find Joyce other places — she’s why I’m here in the first place. Sorry you had to make such a mess of what was once a good place. Bye.

tmccaffr10/3Elie, I think you missed the mark this time. You’re comparing apples and bananas. There was no ongoing prosecution of Hillary but Smith’s case is ongoing. The delays which put this case to this time were caused by the defendant’s team. Calling Jack Smith unprincipled is highly offensive. I hope you will rethink that statement and make a correction or, at least, modify your statement.

Fan of Common SenseTerribleThis latest installment is in a word-pathetic. Honag, miffed by the verdict in a case he called a loser, criticizes the DA and jury incessantly. Not everybody takes just the easy cases Ellie! A prosecutor should not run from the tough ones, but many do. Kudos to Bragg and Steinglass for taking this on and vindicating Rule of Law. The very least Honag should have done is fall on his sword and give credit where due. I gave this a 1 because I couldn’t give it a zero.

Sean Patrick McCluskeyExcellent PodcastI was very impressed by Mr. Honig when he was an AUSA in the SD/NY, and I’m very impressed by his work here. His podcast is informative, entertaining, and a great way to gain an understanding of complex legal issues.

reviewer2800He’s a pigI need to quit listening to this guy, he’s such an awful smug pig.

Listener No. 1Elie Works Hard To Be WrongElie works so hard to constantly criticize the Justice Department that he finds it too hard to believe that the recent Supreme Court decision to hear and decide the Jan 6 Immunity case was a calculated decision by the Conservative members of the Court to prevent a trial before the 2024 election. Guess he hasn’t learned much from dealing with crooked people during his career.

Number 1bookworm!Come on EliBiden had his own notes-yes he kept his own notebooks willfully. Just like every other ex vp or potus.

JasonNewYorkEli’s commentary is poorly researchedEli is not a reliable commentator. It’s all opinions based on very little research.

The Real Zen BoyTrump ApologistDon’t know what happened to this podcast. He started out great, covering a broad range of legal topics in the news and gave some great insight from a prosecutor’s perspective. But a few months ago, he seemed to become fixated on the Trump trials, and his commentary kept getting more and more political instead of legal analysis. The politics he was drifting to sounds an awful lot like what you hear MAGA commentators say, complete with ad hominem attacks on Jack Smith, Merrick Garland, and the judges on the case. Actually, it’s just certain judges. Judges holding the line or even ones bending over backwards to accommodate Trump get constant criticism, while he gives full-on MAGA judges like Aileen Cannon a complete pass. Don’t know what his motive is, whether it’s graft now or the promise of a future position in a potential Trump administration, or maybe to save himself from reprisals. Whatever it is, it has the stench of corruption all over it. He seems to be following the playbook of the person he wrote a book about, Bill Barr.

JbaxteracmeMy NameGood grief, Cafe owners. Keep Elie for as long as you possibly can. In this day of seeking safe privacy from reader and listener threats, it’s so rejuvenating to hear something so personal from a commentator. (The details of a person’s life are most captivating—just ask Joan Didion, or Ernest Hemingway.) With his “My Name,” my respect for his outlook—and storytelling abilities—doubled.

barb230Your nameAs a 5th generation ‘Barbara’ (whose name has never felt right), I truly appreciate and enjoyed this particular episode…so beautifully written. Brought me a smile and touched my heart. Thank you for sharing

Learner Ann5 starsConcise use of language with great experience and insight!
-
HonestAbe2020!1 star for being brief and making succinct pointsBut minus 5 stars for always being a painfully arrogant contrarian. Unsubscribing from any project he darkens the door of. Is he being paid for by MAGA, cus his words sound like a good attorney but his message seems designed to deflate and demoralize his audience. I could never sound so confident if I was consistently proven wrong (his legal predictions) and so clearly not a person with real star power. Ignore the politics and just compare him to a seriously brilliant and entertaining lawyer like Andrew Torres on Opening Arguments and you will see that one can give good legal perspectives and find a way to te the audience bad or upsetting news without being self righteous and depressing.

MIHtedbroLove Intro & Conclusion Music! Can you provide the artists’ names? PS your legal analysis ain’t too shabby either! Really enjoy your show…

RdswinfordSorry we all have political viewsDon’t agree with the premise for your argument re: recusal today. We all have opinions and judges are expected to set them aside regardless of +T/-T. So after the first 35$ for act blue I lost you.

CleminoleTrashI looked all over for your podcast on the “thud” sound from the failures of the Mueller investigation. I was shocked and overwhelmed when I couldn’t find it. You’re just another partisan clown. You’ve got nothing to say about lying to FISA courts? Nothing to say about the concerning nature of the Russia scam? That’s it. The thing that stands out to you is that the Durham investigation has been a failure. Really? I must have missed the part where he concluded the investigation. Come to think of it, I didn’t miss that. He just issued new subpoenas and the investigation is very much ongoing. Unlike you had other partisan clowns that rush to judgement and look for every opportunity to spin and mislead….I just want the truth out. Whatever that truth is. EVERY SINGLE American should have been outraged by the FBI’s conduct. It’s frightening. We’re Americans. We are better than this. Try being honest. Just once. Investigate, get all the facts, and report on them. Americans will fairly criticize the investigation if they know the truth. That’s not this Podcast. This podcast isn’t interested in the truth. Because……Trump bad, mean tweets, blah blah blah.

U. RuddRock starEli’s is a rock star! I love listening to him and Preet, of course. Feel smarter thanks to both of them. ❤️😊

ReedUSAWhy no on charging sedition...?I’m a former (and much to my dear Jewish mother's chagrin at the time!) USMC Infantry/Special Operations Officer. Thirty plus years intervening have me not remembering where in the Uniform Code of Military Justice (which I half joked was based on the highly efficient principle of "guilty until proven innocent"), or perhaps more likely as per the Non-Judicial Punishment alternative, it was allowed (perhaps only when on ship?) to sentence a Marine to bread and water. My wise commanding officer warned us not to do that because of the bragging rights cool factor. If obstructing an official act has the same punishment, I think this may be the same good reason not to charge the Jan 6th seditionists with sedition. And remember that the Nazi's comfortable time in Spandau prison after the abortive Munich beer hall putsch was part and parcel of the lore that brought them to power.

Starksfor3A must listenOne of my favorite people in the legal space right now. Love what Elie does to break down the particulars around a case for the listener who may or may not be familiar with the state law or federal law. Keep up the great work my friend!
-
pennshCan’t wait for each episode !!I subscribed to hear Elie’s pod after hearing him on The Daily Beans. Now twice a week I wake up to hear Third Degree before anything else, it’s so interesting. I miss free access to Fridays’ law student interviews.
-
LoganfoolGreatGuests need to be able to speak more.
-
calnelsonJuror reviewYour law student guess suggested that one means to evaluate jurors is to obscure their picture, gender and voice in a video format, and this could be a means to anonymously evaluate them without prejudice regarding these factors. I agree with it all except the voice part as a determination regarding race. I’ll say that determination of a persons race based on their voice is racist itself. Just my personal experience is that it should not be used bc too often we can be wrong with that measure to determine someone’s race. I wish Elie would have pushed back on that. That said, I LOVE the podcast and find it insightful and in layman’s terms for those of us non lawyer types.
-
Ba miiCy VanceYou neglected to mention that Mr. Vance had to return a political donation from the Trumps when he declined to prosecute Don Jr. and Ivanka. Why would he be motivated to do his job now?
-
lepsteinGross guestSickening to listen to a Trump loyalist Stephen Miller wanna be wax on about Barr’s “triumphs”. And you’re asking people to pay for this extra content?! Blech.
