This podcast is one of the best among others. As an international listener, I found this podcast very easy and enjoyable to listen to. It is clear that Jason put a lot of effort, energy, and thought into all the details. The content (UX knowledge and all the time giving confidence to his users), the quality of his voice, and the speed at which he speak all make his podcast very unique.

This is honestly the best UX podcast I’ve come across. Every episode is so enlightening and RELATABLE. Somehow Jason knows exactly what to ask the participants, and The participants provide honest answers. I like how people with all sorts of experience levels are a part of this so it really caters to absolutely anyone. It’s also quite conversational and laid back which makes it less intimidating and more inviting .I’ve learnt so much in such a short space of time. Thank you Jason and everyone who’s interviewed. This has been incredibly helpful.

Jason has an infectiously uplifting attitude towards everyone he encounters. His overt respect and subtle kindness seeps through every episode. This podcast provides valuable guidance for anyone from newbies to vets from the perspective of someone who’s been in it for over 25 years.

The conversations are honest, and Jason has GREAT guests. I loved the one with Seth Godin, he is such a humble human being. The episode with Jared Spool remains my absolute favorite. It's refreshing to come across UX content that's not fluffy and dives into the heart of what it means to be a UX practitioner. Great job, Jason! Thank you!!

Hands down one of the best ux/ design podcasts there is. Ive learned something from every episode and always leave with some valuable insight or takeaway that I can apply to my own process and ux journey. Jason is super inspiring and an excellent interviewer. Ive honestly learned more in 6 months listening than I have in the previous 2 years figuring it out on my own as a self-taught designer. So glad I found the show. Keep up the great work!

Whether you’re looking for a new position in the UX world, want to improve your skills, or hear from talented UXers, there’s few UX podcasts that are better than User Defenders. Jason’s interview style, guests, detailed show notes, and solo episodes are a wealth of information. He’s also not simply churning out episodes weekly to meet some metric. For example episode 80 on landing a job, literally years in the making.

I finished an immersive course in UX right before the pandemic (around the time you left your job). I have struggled to secure a role and gave up at some point. This podcast was a huge motivation to try again! Thank you!

I’ve been listening for a few years now and really get a lot out of this podcast. I would definitely say my career has improved and progressed with this added ammunition. Jason is an incredible host who is open, honest and authentic. He is someone most people can relate to. Check out episode 80, one of my favorites.

I've been so encouraged by this podcast. Jason and his guests are part of what helped me decide to pursue a career change. They've been so encouraging and it's been so exciting to find a whole group of people who care about the same stuff I do.

Aggravatingly awful mic quality + poor audio production/mixing, annoying sound effects, and the host brings minimal insight to the table (just a lot of “yeah,” “wow,” and fake laughing).

I just listened to the latest podcast about Landing the first UX job, and I gotta tell you how inspiring it was and how much I connected with Jordan's story. I myself have made the transition from graphic designer to UX. Also, that idea of just being genuine to land a job is very liberating. Looking forward to the next episode!

I first discovered User Defenders when I was researching UX-related communities and resources about a year ago. This podcast was truly heaven-sent because it got me through some of my darkest days during the first chapter of my UX journey. There is always something inspirational and relatable from the guests. In addition, Jason truly knows how to create a safe environment in which listeners can be motivated and encouraged to keep fighting on.

The guests are full of valuable information and the host asks insightful questions. Worth the listen, and I’ve found it often has nuggets that apply to other roles outside of just UX like Product Management and development.

I have been listening to this podcast as I transitioned careers fully into UX. (I actually think Jason and I applied to the same job, in which Jason landed the job and not me 😀 but the team there really made an impression on me, as did this show.) I have been listening religiously for some time now and this show has really helped me understand what I do, advocate for UX, and feel inspired that I picked a great path. I would even say I learned more here than my boot camp, but the boot camp was truly great. This show just adds on more layers to my understanding of UX. Keep it up. EZ 5 stars. A complete inspiration for anyone looking for a great listen. I stumbled across the User Defenders podcast in the start of my own UX journey, just recently during a house move. I was hooked from the first episode I listened to. As someone who does not have a design background but looking to break into the industry, it was refreshing and inspiring to hear from the superheroes that are fighting for the users. Their stories show that no matter who you are, being empathetic to the users and being the voice in the darkness for them is one of the many ways to succeed in the growing field. Jason does an amazing job, making each conversation he has with a super guest engaging and worth every minute played. Highly recommend to anyone, at any level.

When I started studying UX and web development in college a few years ago, I set out on the search for some good podcasts on those subjects. I came across the User Defenders Podcast and from the first episode I listened to I was hooked! I love the genuineness that the host Jason brings to the conversation - he is actually really interested in listening to his guests’ answers! The conversations (because that’s what they are, and not interviews) a lot of the time end up being about caring for the needs of our users and our own personal development as people, which are just as important as learning the newest JavaScript or developer tool features! Thank you, Jason, for such a well-executed podcast and I look forward to listening to future episodes! Fight on, my friend!

I am a current student of Apparel Technical Design with a recent realization and fervent desire to get into and end up working in the field of UX design and I happened to stumble upon this wonderful podcast. It provided me with a wealth of information because I was able to get internal insights from industry professionals and experts which is first hand experience that helps understand the field in a whole new way! I love this show! I'm 41, husband and father of 3. Got as far as a HS diploma and pretty much have just worked in any job to pay the bills. Most recently doing facilities services and shipping & receiving chemicals. Early this summer I was told that my position would be eliminated and started to think to myself now that my kids are a little older now would be the best time to pursue a career in something I enjoy. My true vocational desire: to make or improve things for the benefit of humankind. A while back I tried to get into coding on my own but I never took off with it. I just never felt the spark. I came across an instagram ad for a ux design course and they had a short 7 day intro course and said to my self this sounds interesting! coincidently my wife came across the same ad and she sent it my way. With a 45min to an hour commute I listen to podcasts on the drive and came across user defenders and thought hey this would be a good way to get a better idea about what UX Designers do. I was wrong it was that and so much more. I started from episode 1 and so far have gone through episode 50. This podcast has been so insightful and has solidified my decision to pursue a career in UX Design. Thank you Jason for making this show and fight on!

I’ve heard about the User Defenders podcast for a long time now and I’m only mad that I waited so long to listen. If every episode is even half as good as the “Empathy as a Design Super Power,” I’m in for a real treat. Empathy is talked about a lot in UX Design but Jason really brings it home in this episode. Awesome stuff!

When I see a new episode of User Defenders has been posted, I suddenly find myself needing to get things done which, amazingly, afford me the opportunity to listen all the way through the show. And I’ve listened a second time to multiple episodes. The interviews are excellent, and the conversation is packed with new information and approaches framed in fresh ways. Jason Ogle is an outstanding host, and I consider this show a vital part of how I keep my UX knowledge bank up to date!

Jason takes a very fun and interesting approach to interviews. As someone who has never taken a design course or even considered a career in the design field, I owe a great deal to Jason and his podcast for helping me on my journey to become a great UX designer. At first I thought the super hero take on the podcast was a little gimmicky. But as I progressed through each episode, it made a lot of sense and now it would be weird if the podcast did not have a superhero theme. As designers, we truly are the unsung heroes and Jason uses his platform as a great way to help designers to help the users. All of the guests and topics are all super relevant to the times and all very insightful. I listen to this podcast on my commute, when I’m doing house chores, or even designing. This podcast gets me to challenge myself and think about the users which at the end of the day, is what we as designers should be doing. As I am writing this, I’ve received my first offer to be a UX designer and I truly couldn’t have done it without all the tips and advice I’ve gotten from Jason and his podcast. Thank you Jason.

Its a great show to listen to, its not too heavy with tech jargon but still coveres topics well enough that you can understand all the parts being discussed. The host and guest are great at covering topics in a way that is entertaining and fun. A great resource to work on starting or building a UX career! Keep up the great work!

On my second pass through the episodes, I was catching things I had forgotten about and missed and forgot about the quality of this podcast. Inspiring is only one of many adjectives I would use to describe what Jason has going on. This podcast should have total support from the UX community from rookies to veterans alike! Fantastic guests, host and the format of the podcast is awesome.

I learned useful information about the history of web design by listening to the episode with Zeldman. I really enjoy getting a better grasp on the present by hearing from those who are seasoned veterans in this industry.

I’ve listened to many episodes of User Defenders, and it has hands-down become my #1 UX/design podcast. I used to listen to it on my commute to work, now that I live right beside my job, I listen to it while I’m working. It keeps me thinking, and keeps me inspired as well. Jason has done a great job with this podcast and with the User Defenders community. Highly recommend :)

I recently decided to start looking for a new career and that what led me to stumble upon a UX design job posting, I had no idea what that was so I researched it and fell in love with what those designers do. Part of learning a little bit more about UX design was to find a good podcast related to it so I found a link to users defenders through an article I read online and I'm so happy I did. I like Jason's questions and his conversations with amazing guests. There's a lot to learn and lots of value. Keep up the good work.

I’ve recently transitioned into UX design, and I’d been looking for something to listen to while driving to work or even at work. This podcast is great and so inspiring! I’ve been challenged and learned a lot and it’s influenced me as a designer!

I recently started listening to this podcast. Not only do I like the fact that it has a nice theme to it but I enjoy listening to all of Jason’s guest speakers. I like the authenticity of the content and how relatable and usable the information is to what I am trying to work toward. I’m still working my way through all of the episodes to be caught up. Definitely recommend this show!

I started listening to this podcast from a year ago, and have listened to each and every episode since then. It is a great show and I gained so many insights from the speakers and the host.
