Yawbus61I GIVE UP!!I’m done listening. I can’t take it any longer. It pains me to say that because Commentary was my favorite podcast. But the addition of Matt Continetti has ruined it completely. He simply cannot shut up. He constantly interrupts, he clicks his tongue in an annoying manner and he laughs as his own inane comments. His non-stop bloviating has basically sidelined Abe and Christine and his know-it-all pontificating has eliminated any genuine give and take. Think I’m exaggerating? On the April 7 episode, Christine spoke for approximately 3 minutes. Abe spoke for approximately 3 minutes. Continetti spoke for over 18 minutes. I’m cancelling my subscription and won’t listen any more until John Podhoretz wakes up and sees how much Continetti has hurt this once great podcast.

UpstateNY14428John Podhoretz drones on and onHe rambles on far too much. Please collect your thoughts , learn to get to the point, and then speak. Let your co-hosts talk for once, and try being more measured in your delivery. We don't need a thousand examples when you're trying to make a point, we get it, move on tothe issue and yield the floor. Here's another tip: let your guests speak. We already know what you think, we want to hear from them. You're tiresome to listen to and just because daddy left you in charge doesn't mean you're cut out for podcasting.

Joe-in--San-DiegoGet a cough buttonDo you like coughing, clearing of throats, chewing, slurping, heavy breathing, and other sounds no one wants to hear? This is the podcast for you!

GeoplanterWell, he did itAbe’s comment on Trump today was the sharpest and most revealing fact that a Commentary member ever uttered! To paraphrase Abe: “His actions on tariffs reveal that he actually believed that he won the 2020 election, and shows how impervious he is to facts and evidence.” Well, all I can say is that with all of trump’s character defects, this is his greatest one. In addition, it was entirely predictable. Commentary editors & writers — can you honestly say that Harris could have done this much damage and chaos?? Shame on you all.

JCesq2012Pandering shell of its former selfUPDATE - All you need to know about this podcast is that the day before Trump’s tariffs crashed our economy, they devoted a whole show to looking back on Kamala Harris 5 months after her defeat. Heckuva job, Commentary!!!! I used to love this podcast, but I guess the economics of podcasting necessitate chasing the MAGA audience at the expense of what I understood the hosts to actually believe. They now bend over backwards to find a shred of sense in whatever Trump says no matter how nonsensical, and if they can’t do that they pivot back to “remember when Joe Biden did..” I agree Continetti is the worst offender but Christine and Abe do it too. Seth is the exception and his commentary is always fair. John is more nuanced still but it sometimes seems the trauma of October 7 has led him and perhaps some of the other hosts to bet on a MAGA alliance for Israel’s survival. I understand, but it has left a podcast that was once fearlessly truth telling and principled sounding as fearful of speaking freely as the voices on the left they criticize for being silent on anti-Semitism and Wokeism. I still listen but more in sorrow than anger because these are intelligent people who know better.

Mouths full of laughterCar talkWow. The first time I have heard you speak so compellingly… your knowledge of literature, the theater, and the arts in stage and film is impressive and interesting. Truly.

Bones TGreat butI enjoy this podcast because of the content. But the production should be better: please fix what sounds like heavy breathing.

!--cogs--!Show lacks effort since Noah leftupdating my review from 2023. I’m happy to see improvements on the issues I mentioned back then about John’s talking time. I really want to like this show, and think it would benefit from First Principles Thinking and demonstrate more re-underwriting of your thinking. It’s perfectly fine to say, “Now that X,Y and Z new facts have come to light…” It would be better for everyone. This is not to diminish the intellect or intent, but in my honest opinion, the show has been sagging since Noah departed. While Matt brings a powerful résumé, he misspeaks often and his reference points are from 20-years ago. Whereas John and Abe bring a stronger historical continuity that I enjoy. Christine shines and I would like to hear her, as well as Abe, have more uninterrupted speaking time. I think John needs to lay back and stop talking over people, or avoid the habit of allowing someone to speak and then ignore it by replacing his opinion with a qualifier such as “What I’m interested in is…” or “Here’s the point…”. Overall it’s a good show, but it gets tiresome because John won’t shut up or just meanders verbally. He also lacks the ability to listen to his cohosts and respond to what they are bringing to the show 50-75% of the time. At the same time, it always feels like Abe and Christine don’t get their airspace, so they sound rushed by the bland Matt and overbearing John.

Acolyte CHGroup ParticipationHi Everyone, My name is Steven, I'm an American expat living in Zurich since 2008. 70 year old semi-retired English Teacher here, 20 years in corp America before that. I'm an Evangelical, Charismatic Christian Minister Ordained over 40 years, worked and co-pastored a Messianic Congregation in WA state. I love your program, listen everyday. Also enjoy GLoP and Remnant. To echo what others have shared, It would greatly improve the quality of your shows if John would reduce his input and allow cohosts to speak more freely. You have a great team so let everyone take their shots, so to speak. 😎

NKinNJYour obsession with Ukraine is tedious. Was Commentary also funded by USAID to advocate for Ukraine?

SPQR 2.0Remember John telling everyone to “Get the G** D*** vaccine”?I haven’t forgotten. He’s a liberal simp who likes to cosplay as a conservative elite. Rambling idiot.

Mike!504This word Singularity is not what you think it means, JohnIt refers to the potential time at which “technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable consequences for human civilization.” It has little or nothing to do with tech adjuncts to human bodies.

zzzzk%#$&+;€€Trump Zelenskyy Vance emergency podcastI agree that someone like Zelenskyy, a non-native English speaker, would be smart to have a translator for a formal negotiation. However, is that what Zelenskyy thought this was? Or was it a press conference where the two parties shake hands, take a few questions, and then retreat to a Private room for formal negotiation? I think the latter. Which only adds to the suspicion that it was a set-up.

10:738(920Where”s Matt?John when discussing US politics this show needs another voice. Where has Mart been lately? He brings the focus that this show lacks on many occasions. He’s willing to punch through your endless monologues and provide insight that is missing on many occasions. I think Abe could play a similar role, but has a hard time breaking in. I am a long time listener and supporter of both the podcast and magazine. So it not that I don’t like listening to you, it’s just that you need to give others a chance to provide needed insight.
-
ListeninginLondon09UkraineTotally disagree. Ukraine had a chance for peace in Istanbul three years ago but wanted to reach for NATO. Russia would never allow it. Zelensky let American Gonzalo Lira die in ukraine, remember this. He could’ve saved Lira. No excuse. Oh don’t forget the Italian mansions.

ICX No BacksFavorite PodcastThanks for the timely, witty commentary. Really enjoy the conversation.

Colline townContinettiListening to the 2/26/25 podcast. Can Matt Continetti not EVER be quiet? This is the Continetti Show now, and I don’t like him so much. It’s style, not substance, that’s gotten old. I haven’t heard anything from Abe and very little from Seth. Good moderators keep things changing. Please, John, rein him in! Just listening to the 12/4 podcast. Trump’s “drill, baby, drill” policy will, I think affect that war (and Iran’s against all and sundry) as much as does military action. I listen to this podcast regularly. It continues to be excellent, informative, and entertaining, and I appreciate it very much. But it seems that Matt Continetti is becoming the co-host, or even the lead host. He directs the conversation, his tone is that of the one who is the answerer for all questions, the teacher, and he usually talks too long, organizing the discussion and making interminable points. Is this just his style, or has John Podhoretz decided to share his position?

ThisIsNotANamePoor Christine indeedY’all need to learn basic table manners. John with the rambling “anyway” completely ignoring others. Often too incensing to be able to finish.
-
KAHBVdfjkqwhGVDFJlwehvgdPoor ChristineChristine has taken to calling herself unhinged when she gets a word in. She definitely talks a mile a minute but it’s only because she has to in order to get her thoughts in before John or especially Matt begin talking over her. Matt talks over everyone. I’ve heard her on other platforms and podcasts and she’s always much more relaxed. John and Matt need to stop talking over her!
-
Jim from Silicon ValleyUp and downI am constantly amazed out how ignorant and self-righteous the panelists are. These clowns who have never negotiated anything, act as if they know how to deal with a floundering NATO or bring Russia into a deal with Ukraine. The rank hubris and stupidity is hard to stomach. On the other hand, the discussions regarding the war in Gaza and other issues tend to be very good.

Quotidian1Tired of Continetti monopolizingWhen did this become the Continetti podcast? Tired of him interrupting and talking over everyone.

JPfäffliBecoming UnbearableAs a long time listener, I’m done. I agree with the other reviews recently about Continetti’s ridiculously condescending attitude and Trump apologetics. He’d be unbearable even if I agreed with everything he said, just because he’s so freaking condescending. I’m also sad that they have become so delighted by liberal tears that they have abandoned almost every conservative policy except supporting Israel while the Republican Party rips apart everything else they used to pretend to support. Enjoy the liberal tears while we lose liberal democracy, Commentary.

Conserve What?Feb 19 EpisodeIs Abe Greenwald drunk?
-
C. R. ImesThanks for your honestyEven though it makes me seethe inside to hear this administration’s views of Ukraine, your opinions on Trump’s comments about Ukraine were appreciated. I can barely listen to discussions about Trump’s stance on Russia it’s so bad. Thank you for saying Trump’s lies about the Ukraine war were despicable, because they definitely were!
-
wswsbwHonestlyWhy not just rename the Podcast “The Podhoretz Show?”

DexemberContineti Sniffs Trumps Chair DailyWe really are at the point where Contineti has gone full MAGA, defined as excusing Trump as long as Trump angers people Matt hates.

usalove🇺🇸JPodThank you again John for telling us how much you loathe the President. After years of listening this podcast has become unbearable if not for Matt Seth and Abe

L. Green in TXYou’ve Changed, and It’s Hard to Listen NowI have so loved this podcast since its beginning. Now I am finding it difficult to listen to an entire episode. Things have changed with both the topics and the conversation on the podcast over the last year. There is so much more derision and smirking about Democrats and the mainstream media and so much less introspection about the jaw-droppingly aggressive actions of the second Trump administration and the extremely unqualified, unconservative cabinet nominees, department heads, and others who are now running the federal government. Some of Trump’s actions are conservative, but most are not and are actually quite authoritarian. You’re bending over backwards to take the stink out of actions of this putrid fellow. Here’s hoping for a more thorough analysis of Trump and his administration from your wonderful group of commentators whom I greatly admire.

jewls317Show PicksI can’t believe you didn’t pick up on the snitchinnrttenyaho wasdoing while Trum was talking to reporters!!!!smirkingi just know you will have something really fun to share!

JT77JTMissing the pointListening to today’s Pod, I feel you missed the point of the Dems outrage over the happenings at USAID. It’s not just that they went in to investigate. It’s about who, it’s about how. It’s about how there has been no transparency, no consideration to citizens PPI, or corporations info. It’s that we have no idea what they are deleting, changing, copying. These people do not have clearances, they are not forensic accountants, they do not know or understand the running of governments, or why certain payments they consider questionable might be quite valid, and Musk himself has HUGH conflicts of interest. I know why maga doesn’t care, but I can’t understand why you don’t.
-
Center Right GuyChecking out for 4 yearsThe TDS has gone off the rails with this crew. I can’t listen to Jon whine about Trump for four years. I get it, he killed your Republican Party. Let me know when you’ve moved to the acceptance stage of grief.

johnapl512PodcastBesides being an excellent update on the news, have to comment on the theme music, it adds character to the podcast.

Leland BurrillHonestly shut upThe content is fine and thoughtful as far as it goes, but I cannot stand listening to them constantly interrupt and talk over each other. It's unprofessional and painful to listen to.

In the tank for RepublicansCommentary is now the D.C. Style SectionNo one listens to this show for fashion advice or whose who in DC social circles. I haven’t heard such deflection and evasive babble since Rush Limbaugh’s show which was only good when Democrats were in power. The team, EVEN Abe, has no shame. You’ve clearly sold out all intellectual ties and moral commitments to your partisanship. How can it be that no one on the right is genuinely afraid for our country after what we saw on Monday ?!?
-
JCalvinJrOne of the best Political Pods out thereEnjoy this substantive, thought provoking, and funny(!) ensemble cast of commentators discussing the news of the day. It never disappoints.

-
beachredheadA never miss…but needs tweaks. This is by far the best political discussion from a conservative point of view out there (and it may well be the best political podcast, period). Abe Greenberg's encyclopedic knowledge of domestic affairs, Christine Rosen’s insights into media, education and real life family issues and John Podhoretz' exceptional wit combine for the best five-times-a-week dose of crushing morosity ever. My only gripe is that since adding Matt Continetti to the cast, it’s more the Matt Continetti show than a group discussion because he tends to interrupt and drown out the others. When he’s talking, it’s possible that you won’t hear from anyone else on the panel (save Podhoretz) at all, or, at most. They are allowed a sentence or two. Overall, the panelists aren't flamethrowers, so if you're looking for an anti-Trump screed, you're in the wrong place--and the same is true if you're looking for an uncritical endorsement of the GOP. They call it like they see it.

CBYirHuman nature?Listening to the episode on fire and progressivism. So disappointing to see the false claim that human nature is ‘tribal’ from folks who had just acknowledged the diversity of different kinds of peoples, all with different values and behaviors. Maybe a refresher course on basic logic is on order?
