Her stories are not only poorly written, with half-butted research, and useless personal insights, but boring. The host inserting het hateful insights makes it not worth listening to.

    Thank you💛
Thank you Lanie for your support and advocacy for Oakley Carlson. We know that this was not an easy case for you to cover. Thank you for speaking up for the little girl who’s voice was striped away by the people deemed with protecting her but failed her so tragically. You are an Oakley’s Angel. -Light The Way

    Always worth listening to
The host is straightforward without being boring, empathetic without being preachy, pleasant without being jokey

    Lanie 💜
I’m a huge fan of Lanie. She’s really truly an amazing person. She advocates HEAVY and will straight up call nasty people out on their behaviors. Behind the bricks is a softie and I’m just glad to call her a friend.

    Great Podcast!
I really love Lanie and how she talks about these cases with sensitivity. She is a great supporter of Survivors!

    Monotoned hard to listen
Kind of reminds me of the teacher in ferris bueller's day off.

    Another great podcast from Lanie
Lanie has the best voice ever! I have been a fan of her Crimes of Passion podcast and just discovered this one. Great content on both and extra 5 start for the narration.

Not fan of the sound quality
Is a bit jacking. Unsubbing after 11/19/19 ep

    Unnecessary details
Can we cut down on the born dates graduation dates schools and town they’ve lived in or attending, the 5 marriages everyone seems to have. I completely get lost and don’t even understand the story after all that.

Lake Worth Murders - Larry Keith Robison Ep
How will I sleep tonight? Thinking how you forgot to mention that Scott Reed (who was only 11 when Larry murdered him trying to defend his mother’s murder) left behind a younger brother and father who’s worlds were completely plunged into unimaginable pain. Scott’s murder took place at the end of Summer but his younger brother (my friend) didn’t return to school that next year. I can only imagine his father tried to make changes to help his son, but what could be done. Larry took their lives as they knew them, completely away. You left all that out - but I guess mentioning the child’s reading disability was important somehow.

    So great
Great Insite and so great at explaining things and different perspectives

    Don’t like the new format
New format is hard to follow, unorganized and unprepared.

    A favorite
I’ve loved this show and am trying to figure out what changed recently. All told she had a great voice and covers the story with good pace and well researched and I’m very grateful.

The worst interviewer I’ve ever heard
If she’s trying to have a normal and interactive conversation with the people she interviews then she’s doing a god awful job. The most recent episode where she interviews the survivors of the children of god cult is a perfect example of that. She only ever focuses on one of the survivors and when one of them tells something personal she barely gives any feedback on it. It’s mainly just a one sided conversation, which is such a bummer since she had such a fantastic opportunity to interview and interact with people who went through so much. Besides that this podcast is painfully boring, I only went back to it since I had nothing else to listen too and I instantly regretted it lol. You can find better content elsewhere.

    A god podcast but
Don’t you find it ironic that you give a warning for explicit content but then you say your child is in the background and “it can’t be helped”? I find that funny. It’s explicit but not overly so for your child to be writing recording earshot. Anyway, good podcast. Great voice. Perfect delivery

    Robotic
I gave it a try, she sounds very robotic in delivery. Couldn’t do it

    Great Podcast
Good podcast, but not sure what she means by “how will you sleep tonight?” At the end.

    Love! But...
I LOVE this podcast, but I wonder if she listens to the podcast before posting. I’m listening to the Santa Killings about the Persian family, and there are numerous times where she re-reads a line and forgets to delete the first read. Also, the most recent Brandon episode also has numerous sound problems. If you’re getting sponsored and making money, please care about your work. Other than editing issues, I love the podcast!

    Must listen
This is an excellent podcast and all crime junkies should give it a listen! Excellent narrations great on facts without going too deep or too shallow. Love it that they cover cases that are not the same old rehash. Looking forward to more episodes!

    Boring Voice
I do not recommend this podcast for listeners who are wanting to be entertained. Her voice should really rather be for audiobooks. I just find the lack of personality in her voice quickly puts me to sleep and makes me lose interest fast in whatever case she is talking about.

    LOVE ❤️ LANIE
Excellent podcast...and I like Lanie’s ending, “How will YOU 😴 💤 sleep tonight”? Keep up the great work 😃

I wish you and baby a healthy, happy and blessed journey! Awwwww Ohh yeah you just said it’s a girl! I bet she’ll be beautiful! I will most definitely be missing your voice! It’s one of the best I’ve herd in the business. Best of luck!!!!

    Congratulations, you will be missed

    One of my faves!
Lanie is one of the best podcasters. Well written, intelligent scripts made with compassion. Her episodes fly by making me want more. Luckily, she is going strong.
  • imabuki
    Very good and unpretentious
Lanie is a good host. She doesn’t try use the pod to test her comedic skills. She does a great job.

    Who? What? Where?
Story Too fast. Too many characters. Cannot keep track of them. Hyper loud ads — in SPANISH. Whew. Ex: Larry K. Robison. Will try a couple more before throwing in towel.

    Love
Laney has a great voice and I like the letters Great podcast. Has no off subject chatter. Love it!!!
  • flap1980
Pretty good but lose The Letters
Decent content but the latest addition of The Letters (letters from inmates) is dull and pointless. Doesn’t fit with this podcast. Maybe start a separate pod committed to that project.
  • Howdthathappen
    Love this podcast but...
The same credit union commercial plays about 3-4 times in a row each time! It’s OVERKILL! Pun intended...
  • Alien cat
    Ugh! Those annoying ads!
Decent content and the host’s voice is soothing and pleasant to listen to. But then your ears are assaulted by loud, obnoxious repetitive ads.
  • twistedbyj
Love Laneys voice and too the point
This is a great true Crime Podcast. Her voice is soothing and she gets to the point and is well rehearsed. I highly recommend this.
  • Foggy Star
    I love Laney
Laney please put out more content. This is the best podcast, period
  • European jet setter
Totally pointless podcasts, no original reporting
It’s very hard to understand the rationale for this podcast. The narrator has a pleasant voice, but it’s basically like listening to someone reading a Wikipedia entry. Zero stars.
  • Bistrobartender
    I can’t be alone
I love Lanie’s voice, and I love her calm and even way of storyteling. It’s relaxing and interesting, short and sweet! And I don’t mind ads usually, but INDIANA LOTTO AND SOME CAR DEALERSHIP HAS DEALS DEALS DEALS AND EVERY OTHER AD IS ACT NOW AND IT is painfully jarring. If she was reading them, or they were normal ads instead of people screaming at me, I could stay in this lovely, calm, and peaceful state Lanie lulls me into at the end of my day. I really hope ad selection is addressed in the future, it could be the death of an otherwise great podcast.
  • Bighert05
Too many adverts but still a solid podcast
This podcast is still a good one as far as content goes, but the amount of advertisements you have to listen to if you aren’t part of the patreon is ridiculous. 3x as many vs the likes of Crime Junkie, etc.
  • Okmaestra
    Really love this podcast!
I love listening to the host. She doesn’t try to be cutesy and I have yet to hear her giggle. She doesn’t crack open a beer or talk about her favorite cocktail. She doesn’t use a sidekick to be her Ed McMahon. What she *does* do is give us a well thought out, respectful, and complete, crime story. Would they were all as pleasurable.
  • MattK lol
    Fantastic
    Love it
  • slim_kt
    Could Use Some Tweaks
The host’s delivery is a little stilted and sounds a bit like someone doing an impression of Microsoft Sam or a stereotypical ‘radio voice.’ Also, the content is swamped with ads. I get that sponsorships are important to keeping a steady flow of content, but one episode took four full minutes of shilling products or other podcasts before even mentioning what the episode would be about. It felt like I was being sold stuff 2/3rds of the episode.

    Say no to parcast
The one thousand parcast pods are all exactly the same and all terrible.

    Reading
I’ve only listened to one so far and couldn’t get all the way through it. The host is just reading from a pc of paper about the case. It’s not enjoyable to me and I usually love true crime podcasts. This one is too boring.
