    Can’t even put into words
Three years ago I found the song East and slowly over time I found more songs. Each song has such an amazing sound- so many I feel like I’m walking in a galaxy or something. This music has gotten me back into my space phase. I love each new release and songs that go together- like the astronomy album and all the enneagrams. Can’t wait to see what the future brings!

    Perfect
This music is amazing and nostalgic, it makes me so happy honestly. My view in life was changed as soon as I heard this music . I’m a enneagram two and three AND eight. And when I heard these songs I cried. Thank you SAL

    Enneagram 7
Just listened to the enneagram 7 episode and, as a 7, I don’t know if I’ve ever felt more understood. You mentioned how you believe we might be one of the most misunderstood types and because of that I feel like we often get boxed in, in peoples minds on a way that doesn’t truly understand the depth and complexity to us. Listening to this podcast is one of the most known I’ve ever felt

    Wonderful!
I love your songs and the effort you put into making and explaining them. I’m a therapist and I like talking to folks about the Enneagram and when they learn their number, I issue them homework to listen to your song that goes along with their type. All my best! Kirsten

    LOVE YOUR MUSIC
Love your music. Your way of formulating different sounds and instruments to form a story with every song is truly incredible. I would love to hear a podcast on your song “Earth” Such a powerful song. Wish there was a good piano arrangement out there so I could play it myself. If you have one that you made and want to release it that would be a dream come true 😂. Keep being amazing Ryan!

    Incredible
Seriously, Ryan is amazingly talented. I have always been enamored by his beautifully haunting harmonies and seemingly endless works of lyrical prowess. Yet, these incredible pieces of art take on an entirely new life as he explains the various elements of his diverse song writing and composing process. Only after listening to his podcast do I appreciate the true intentionality behind the beautiful and powerful works I’ve sung along with over the past 12 years of being a fan of Sleeping at Last. Incredible. Beautiful. Inspiring. Thank you! Hannah

    AMAZING!!!
Ryan is an incredible musician. His music is so inspiring. This podcast has helped me learn so much about myself through his enneagram episodes. I love hearing new songs as they come out, Sleeping At Last is some of my favorite music. Keep up the good work, Ryan!

    Incredible
Ryan’s music and podcasts on the enneagram have changed my life forever. Thank you so much to Ryan and Chris for this journey that I never imagined I would be going through. I discovered Ryan’s music shortly after I found out I was a 6; and I’ve never felt more seen, more heard, more broken and more understood. I feel like I’ve been torn open for the world to see but I’m so thankful that I’ve had this opportunity to really learn more about myself and the ones I love. If music is your religion as it is mine, you won’t regret these podcasts. ♥️

    Heaven
You make music both be a feeling and an understanding of the feeling behind the music. I’m telling you:::: at 70 yrs old, I would have thought I’d have experienced all feelings. But no, your music and the enneagram explanations ( I’m a 5) make a presence of heart and mind that I love. It’s heaven. It’s rare for me but you’re making it so comfortable and I’ve bought 3 of your CDs and it’s interesting because I bought both Cover and Atlas and the genre is STILL HEAVEN💥❤️💥❤️

    Your work is amazing
For the last few years, I have listened to your music. I found the music so amazingly calming and personal. I then found the podcast, and I saw a whole new perspective on the music. As an enneagram two, I thought the song for two was so personal and special. I also got to learn a TON about my sister who is an eight; we are complete opposites. We have a better relationship because of your songs, and I want to thank you for all that you do.

    Thank you so much!
Ryan, your work is astonishing. This podcast has touched my heart in more ways then I thought possible. I identify as an enneagram type Seven, and hearing what you had to say about us blew me away. Your song perfectly captures the essence of a Seven. One thing I would like to point out though, is that to me personally, rather than running away from pain, the seven really just wants to find all the joy that we can. We DO want to go deep, and we DO feel our emotions deeply. Don’t be afraid to ask a seven if they are ok, because they will want to open up to you. I can’t thank you enough for your music- it has made my life better. Don’t stop doing what you are doing. This podcast has helped me understand others more deeply as well, and truly speaks to all the wonderful people in the world. Also I apologize for the review- that was a total accident! 10 out of 5 stars!!

    Amazing, peaceful art
Ryan O’Neal and sleeping at last never fails to make an incredible piece of music. I haven’t found a single one I don’t love, and that doesn’t speak to my heart in some profound way. The podcast is so interesting and really dives into the complex process of creating these wonderful pieces. Might be weird to say but Ryan’s voice is relaxing to listen to... nice also to listen to an artist with such a kind and humble attitude who genuinely appreciates his listeners. :)

    Wow
I just stumbled upon this by happy accident and began with the episode and song for Two. Every word rang so true and the elements and sounds and everything for the song hit me at my core. I’m so amazed and impressed and I cannot wait to dig into every other piece of your work!

    Enneagram 7
I haven’t had no one describe me so well like your song has and all the explanation behind. But not all 7s have the pain you talk. I don’t. And I am blessed upon that I don’t. But oh wow. Thank you for this. It’s truly wonderful to share this and have people understand me more and me towards others also.

    Thank you
Thank you for this song and series. Being new to the enneagram world, I am beginning to understand that type 6’s are immensely complex and it was SO amazing to hear some explanation. The song is perfect and had me in tears. The idea that type 6’s are the sanctuary and when things fall apart it feels personal because we aspire to be the sanctuary for the ones we love isn’t something I’d ever considered, but rather the constant searching for one. So thank you.

    Phenomenal enneagram podcast!
Wow. This show is the most creative of any enneagram podcast I’ve ever heard. The enneagram songs are brilliant. Not only in lyrics but in the creation of them. I’m forwarding to all my friends into the enneagram.

    Beautiful
My appreciation and love of these songs has grown SO much - what a difference hearing about the inspiration and "fingerprints" makes

Grateful to This Contribution and Collaboration
I’m new to Enneagram use, and was recommended this podcast through a workshop leader. I’m fascinated by this take, as that is all it is... a tribute to a system from a talented person who wants to contribute to the collaboration of good energy that beneficiaries of the tool, experience. I’m aware that Heuertz (sp?) has has some controversy; that said, three episodes in, the Sleeping At Last podcast has served up smart, musical interpretations of Big Ideas, and for that, I am grateful.

    Enneagram Series
I will preface this review by introducing myself as a wholly dominant enneagram type 5. My wife, a Two, listened to each respective episodes together. I was suggested this podcast by an acquaintance whom I had discussed the enneagram with and who I quickly realized was gathering her knowledge of the enneagram via bullet points and subsurface reading on the Internet. After listening to the “Five” and “Two” episodes in succession, I understand why she had felt the urge to share. The songs were just that - bullet points produced by someone who is talented and can certainly sing, yet lacks a deeper understanding of the Enneagram. It was to my surprise that, while writing this review, my wife learned and shared with me that Chris Heuertz studied under many prominent enneagram educators. In contrast, the guest speaker introduced at the beginning of each episode is clearly an articulate, wise practitioner of the Enneageam and offered sound insight. So much so that I will seek out his works to continue my enneagram journey. I would have appreciated less discussion on instrumentation and more on the artist’s process in researching each number. I can only surmise that the artist took HIS idea of a Five and extrapolated from start to final product without ever revisiting the source material until it ended with something wholly unrelatable to me. Perhaps seeking out more fives, getting to know them, diving deeper into the enneagram for further understanding could have remedied this. During the Five episode he had mentioned inspiration of a large part of the song coming from a friend’s description of their brain as myriad television screens and extrapolated this into dozens of synthesized instruments. Perhaps this rings true to some fives? Though it is in stark contrast to the utilitarian simplicity so indicative to Fives earlier described by the expert. There is certainly something intriguing and unique here, if a bit off the mark. Thanks I thank the artist for his contribution to the enneageam omnibus, and would be interested in a “enneagram songs vol. 2”, in which the artist revisits each number further along in his enneagram journey.

    Extraordinary
The design of these podcasts, the commentary on the lyrical “whys”, and the creation of enneagram songs is crafted with extraordinary intelligence, intentional-organization, methodical detail, whimsical play, and full-hearted creativity that awakens the heart and delights the mind into curious discovery of one’s essence. Thank you! How lovely! Thank you. Science and soul merge in an extraordinary set of symphonies.

This type 3 sends a heartfelt THANK YOU
Listened to my first episode and I’ll be back. I heard your music via Jen Hatmaker and am so grateful to have been connected. You provide an amazing gift to this world. Thank you
  • Maria1227
    THANK YOU. 🥺
As soon as I listened to the very first verse of “Two” on my way home in the car, I just wept. I cried and cried. It just felt like every feeling of shame and being misunderstood and feeling like everything and everyone else’s needs are more important than my own was just released as I cried like a little baby, haha. Ryan, the work you are doing and have been doing is just incredible. The way you care about every little detail of a song you put together doesn’t go unnoticed. Not only the Enneagram songs, but everything else has blown me away! Thank you for what you are bringing to this world by using the gifts God has blessed you with. I truly believe it’s changing people’s lives! Keep it up!!!

    A Masterpiece
If everyone listened to the podcasts and songs that were so tastefully and thoughtfully created, the world would be a kinder, gentler and more tolerant place. My soul felt much empathy for those who are different than me after I internalized this program. Thank you for making me a better person. This should be taught in all middle schools.

    Enneagram + music
I speak music. I feel music more than I do myself...due to my type. Thia enneagram series is amazing. Your voice is pure and dope man! You have a new fan. I binged 12 episodes of the pod today

    6!
I’ve only recently discovered enneagram and have been listening to all I can about 6’s. This episode really hit home for me. It made me feel understood and helped me to understand myself better. I am a counterphobic 6 and most of my life if I feel fear I get angry. I have a strong negative reaction of feeling afraid and avoid it as much as possible. Very insightful! Thank you!

    Thank you for "Eight"
This is specifically about the "Eight" song. My wife is an eight, and she has said that it captures her perfectly, from the lyrics to the bombastic score, every part of it. On her behalf, well done Ryan!

    Calming
This is the only podcast that makes me calm and helps me sleep I don’t mean to make that sound bad but it helps me stop thinking about the bad things and get sleep

    So Awesome!!!
Ryan introduced me to the enneagram and I’ve loved it ever since. I’m a total 7, and I guess I’ve never felt super alone, but learning from Ryan and Chris about my type made me feel known in a completely new way. Also, learning about the other types has seriously amplified my ability to have empathy for my friends and loved ones. The enneagram is really a tool for love, for yourself and for others. I absolutely love learning about the behind the scenes for these songs. I am a songwriter myself and Ryan is definitely my biggest inspiration. This podcast pretty much wraps up my two favorite things about life right now, the enneagram and songwriting. Such an awesome artist, such an awesome podcast! (I totally recommend The Sacred Enneagram it actually is totally a good book)

    Amazing!
I’ve been a big fan of Ryan’s music ever since I discovered him, and it’s been fascinating having a look inside his head and seeing how much thought and love goes into each one of his songs. I’m a Type Four myself. Listening to his “Four” podcast gave me a deeper look at myself—and through further research of the Enneagram, I’ve received more understanding than ever about myself. Thank you, Ryan, for allowing us a glimpse into your process.

Discovering the enneagram and your collection of songs has changed my life.
Strong identifier with the type 9 here, I would like to thank Ryan for making these songs and in particular for making these podcasts (as well as Chris Heuertz, who provided phenomenal explanations that came straight from the heart) that break down his creative reasoning for the decisions he made. I’ve spent so much time trying to understand what makes me, me; using personality traits or maybe even disorders to try and paint a concise outline of who I really am, why I do what I do, or to try and explain why my shortcomings far outnumber my achievements. It might sound kind of silly, but I cried three times during this podcast and they were truly the healthiest cries of my life. This podcast in particular especially has helped me to truly understand who I am as an individual, and that it’s okay to love myself, and the amount of spiritual and mental healing that has come from that is astounding. I am currently going through all eight of the other enneagram podcasts in order to better understand the people around me as well as certain aspects of myself. This is seriously some lifechanging stuff that I hope will stick with me forever. TL:DR The Enneagram as well as this podcast are some frickin great tools to help you better understand yourself as well as others. 10/10

    I feel...seen.
I’m 9w1. It’s hard to put into words, but I kind of always felt alone. Like, never understood and I live in my own mind. I’m always exhausted, always observing, highly empathetic, and always truly want to help when I can. Yet, at the same time, I feel I help people grow and they move on, and I remain where I was. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your podcast! For the first time I don’t feel alone, I feel understood and I’m not the only one out there. You broke me, but if the best, most beautifully perfect way that I needed. You have a true gift. Thank you so much for sharing it. Also, you helped me understand my 5 husband a little more. ❤️

    😭
I’m also a type 9 and this is one of the best things I’ve listened to. (And I’ve listened to a LOT of enneagram podcasts) Your Nine song was beautiful and so very moving- brought on all the feels. I couldn’t help but tear up. Multiple times.
  • hatless1
    Thank you!
Loved this! I accidentally found your podcast about the enneagram Nine. I cried and cried because I have listened to multiple podcasts but did not feel understood until I heard yours. As a creative, I enjoyed hearing your process. Keep going.

    6-enneagram song
Wow, when I stumbled onto the enneagram about a month ago I learned I am not alone. I am undoubtably a 6. Other people see things the way I do! When I saw you wrote a song I had to hear it and wow! Tears were instant, the bags do get heavy. Great job, love love love!! Thank you!!

Like staring Ins fire at night
As a 1 I find this episode as very accurate in showing the type. For example, the Westwing theme song has always mesmerized me. But more important than mere accuracy, portraying of the type with the music, discussion of lyrics, contribution of other 1’s and even percussion via cleaning supplies is a truly devoted and effective method of communicating this important topic. Because it communicates at so many levels it truly conveys knowledge and deep felt understanding to the listener. I look forward to exploring the other types. Bravo.

    Nothing like this
I have studied the Enneagram for years now, read many books, listened to hundreds of podcasts, but nothing has opened my eyes like these songs/podcasts. The vulnerability and rawness of these songs is so beautiful. They truly respect the Enneagram as a soulful experience rather than just another test. Thank you Ryan for all that you have done!

    Eight
I don’t even have the words to properly describe how much I love what you’ve done with the enneagram types. I am an eight and I have listened to this song probably 30 times today. Thank you for the research, time, and effort you put into it. I truly felt heard and understood. It feels so good. Amazing talent!

    So Grateful!!!!!
As a 4, my search for identity and my sense of loneliness and abandonment and being misunderstood has been profound. I can’t say enough how deeply honoring this podcast is and how much it has been a part of my life changing and a catalyst to my self-love and understanding myself—and a huge connection point in all my relationships. Thank you a thousand times. This series is nothing short of miraculous.💚
