    Psychiatrist here
I cannot say enough thanks to Dr. Puder for sharing his incredible knowledge and expertise with us. I may not be practicing as a psychotherapist, but I feel that you’re helping me be much more therapeutic in giving medication if needed. I also know that I have been able to get my patients more engaged and with the correct therapist lately. Best regards.

    The Andrew Huberman of psychiatry!
I so greatly appreciate this podcast! Dr. Puder has helped clinicians and lay people alike understand the tenets of psychiatric care and nuances of difficult diagnoses. I love the incorporation of new research and guests who have extensive experience and expertise in psychiatry.

    Good information, needs an editor
The information in this podcast is great and informative. I appreciate their willingness to investigate research on a variety of topics. That being said, the episodes are very long tend to meander. You can tell they don’t have an editor who knows what they’re doing otherwise they would be likely half the length. I know that they are offering CEs as part of the podcast, but the overall length ruins what could be otherwise excellent podcast.

With much love and respect ☺️
Hi Dr Puder, I’m Dr Htike from Myanmar. Thank you for being the teacher I didn’t know I needed. Your podcasts have been a beacon of wisdom and kindness, guiding me through the complexities of psychiatry and life itself. For three years, I’ve felt like your student, learning not only the art of healing but also the importance of compassion and humanity. Your words have touched my life profoundly, shaping the care I give to my patients and inspiring me to be better every day. I carry your teachings in my heart, always. Thank you, from the depths of my soul, for everything.

    Very limited & privileged view.
There are layers upon layers in which this podcast doesn’t even consider on each topic. Specific drugs and psychedelics for each diagnosis, and their ability or inability to/unwillingness to discuss their issues & symptoms in therapy. Why not discuss methods on how to get a patient to discuss difficult issues. His holier than thou parenting tactics are so pompous. This f*ing guy is such a professional that he doesn’t even admit to his blinders. So full of himself.

    Fulfilling!
So grateful to have found this podcast! As a psych undergrad, I am always looking for as much knowledge as I can get. David and his guests bring us important insights to real world issues and I always feel more empowered and motivated after an episode.

    Lay person
I love these conversations, I’m not a dr, and I’ve been afraid of getting therapy even though I want to. I’ve had lousy therapist in the past, as well as one really good one when I was in college. I live in a rural area, so in person is limited. But these talks have helped me trust therapists and understand that they are on my side in general. I will try again. These conversations are in just enough depth for me to stretch to understand and appreciate the complexity from the other side. I’m going to contact the show about online therapists or a local referral. Thanks for caring about the human beings you serve. Your and your guests conscientiousness gives me hope!

Best Mental Health Podcast by far
The broad touches of sectors of behavioral health balanced with the labor focus on psychotherapy and psychiatry is extremely helpful and often timing is on point.

    The main guy
The main guy on the sauna episode kept disputing the other guys great points like the healthy bias. Came across as bossy making the conversation uneasy. Great information though.

    This information is free?
I can’t believe such incredible information is free! How I wish all therapists were this well informed and capable. Thank you for providing this invaluable service.

    An invaluable resource
Whether you are a consumer or a provider, this podcast is invaluable for growing your knowledge and understanding of psychiatry and psychotherapy. Dr. Puder brings the top experts in the field together with cutting edge research to inform us about the world of psychiatry and psychotherapy. Listen and share this with your colleagues and friends to help them better understand and find compassion for individuals living with mental health conditions.

    Incredible resource
I highly appreciate the valuable information through these interviews
  • Silverpsyche
    Balanced, well researched, and applicable
As a professor for MSW students, this has been an incredible resource to give helpful information in both realms of psychiatry and psychotherapy. It really helps students be more well rounded and informed when it comes to the world of mental health. This is especially helpful in the field of social work where there is often a lack in sufficient education around the deeper aspects of psychiatric illness. I especially love when Dr. Puder has Dr. Cummings on the show, that man is the Temperance Brennan of Psychiatry (Bones reference).
  • PBinMN
    Balanced and thoughtful
I’m a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and this podcast does an excellent job of integrating psychotherapy concepts into the practice of general psychiatry. The review of research evidence for various topics is also very helpful. Thank you for this interesting podcast!

Psych NP student and psych RN
Very appreciative of this podcast! I save them and the resources he compiles for further reading. The guest speakers help add a lot of knowledge to the discussions, and this grad student appreciates the insight they bring. Thank you so much! - signed a subscriber Came back bc I had to write a review for episode 211- as a PMHNP student THANK YOU!!! I’m particularly interested in the psychotic disorders and since I’m already working in the field imagine my shock to hear about the HeadsUp program! I wish it was more widely available in my area, I WISH I could refer my patients to it! This podcast is EVERYTHING!! THANK YOU!

    Standing Ovation !

    My favorite podcast!
I’m a new psychiatric nurse and this podcast has taught me SO much! I’m so grateful for it and I recommend it to people all the time. It’s absolutely made me a better caregiver and improved my nursing practice a hundred times over. I feel like I have much more intelligent and informed conversations with my patients and providers as a direct result of learning from this podcast. Thank you, Dr. Puder!

Very helpful for mental health providers
I’m currently in school for PMHNP. This podcast has been incredibly helpful in supplementing the material and providing both a real-world perspective and supportive EBP studies. Dr Puder has a refreshing bent towards providing compassionate and respectful care for all people, his patients, guests, and listeners included.

    Entertaining and informative
I started listening to Psychiatry and Psychotherapy while I was getting my DNP and would have to drive 3 hours each way to clinicals at the closest state psychiatric hospital. Now I’ve been a practicing PMHNP for about a year and a half and whenever I encounter a clinical situation I’m not extremely comfortable with I look for the topic on this podcast and it’s extremely helpful. This podcast provides great evidence-based, new and “old,” clinical guidance on so many important topics but at the same time is something I can listen to on my days off. It’s the one psychiatry podcast I can listen to for fun and to make me a better clinician.
  • brendahappy
Very informative, this RN approves !
I stumbled upon Dr. Puder’s show in 2019 and listening to his shows have improved my life. The Variety of topics help share his knowledge and his wisdom in a low stress manner. He always remembers and gives credit to his mentors. The bogus reviews are from people who are envious of him. I’ve come to learn that covert and envious people are sometimes you’re own family and friends. God Bless you, your wife and children. Press on and thank you

    Terribly boring
How o they guess and know what’s going n n the heads of others. This talk is definitely unreal bull.

    Useless
I’ve not seen a more useless podcast for prescribers. Who are all his listeners? Are they therapist. Yawn. Prisons in Mesopotamia? Yikes.

    Love this Podcast!
I am a Family Medicine and Psychiatric NP, practicing in an outpatient setting. For those looking to find a podcast on best practices to manage psychiatric patients, I have listened to most of these, and they have been so helpful! Truly amazing that Dr Puder provides all of this FREE information to better educate all of us working in the mental health space. His residents and students comb through the research to answer best practice questions and Dr Puder provides summaries and resources as well. He has guest experts speak about the various topics. I especially enjoyed the insomnia, OCD, and serotonin syndrome episodes. It’s really fabulous, and I look forward to listening to all of them. THANK YOU Dr Puder!!!! :)

    Hard Pass
Within five minutes of Host David Puder interviewing Annabel Kuhn, he not only corrected her but also talked over her, carried on with making key points by himself (monologue), and demonstrated how content he was with letting her recede into the backdrop. He is the worst kind of smug.

    One of the best
    Awesome show! Absolutely love it.

    The best!
This podcast is the best for anyone in the mental health world! Dr. Puder is a wonderful host with amazing clinical knowledge and always has on amazing guests. I particularly love the emphasis on lifestyle interventions and the therapeutic relationship but his pharmacology episodes are helpful and practical as well. I love that there are no ads on this podcast as well which adds to the credibility. The older episodes on personality traits have given me practical, non-pathological ways to talk with my patients about some of their struggles. Give the podcast a listen!

Fantastic! Love these and the CME
This really is the podcast your psychiatrist listens to. I always learn something to bring to my practice and for that I am very grateful.

    Dr. Cummings!!

    Social Justice Dr?
He had on a “professional” that’s head of a social justice department = everything she hast to say is about feelings and not facts.

Ep. 191 - understating the risks of SSRIs
Your guest presenting on BDD was fabulous, except when she cavalierly understated the risk of SSRIs and their side effects. As a therapist in practice for decades, I have seen lots of SSRI side effects, including those that persisted after stopping. As a balancing POV, wondering if you would consider interviewing Dr. Joanna Moncrieff. Thanks for the podcast and keep up the great work.

    Love this show.
Being a therapist is complicated. Talking to people about their mental health is not something to be taken lightly. This podcast doesn't take it lightly. You get to hear serious experts talk about how to walk into the darkest places in peoples minds, with them, collaboratively. It's a real gem and a public service. Give it a listen.
  • Halyran
    Incredibly useful podcasts!
From the perspective of someone who is engaged in therapy for past trauma (the perspective of a patient), I find these sessions to be incredibly informative and useful in shaping the outcome of my therapy sessions. Listening to them jams helped me tie sessions together with ways to implement changes in my life, by providing a better understanding of how and why the mind and body work the way they do. I have utilized strategies or techniques from several podcasts (such as those on sensorium and strength exercise) and reflected on how specific processes discussed can better help create an effective path to recovery. I’m very grateful for the information, and appreciate having access to them as a patient! Thanks!

    I love this podcast!
The host puts soo much effort in and you can tell he really cares about the show and that each episode is chosen with care. I'm getting my MSW and this pod is very informative. One request that there are more episodes about child/adolescent mental health!

Fantastic review of nutrition and depression
Ep 187 really got my attention as a highly practical, yet thoughtful review and analysis of the latest research regarding nutrition and depression. I highly recommend this to any family docs, mental health providers, and dieticians. Patients and students can also benefit from the points highlighted here.

    Thank you
This is uniquely useful podcast, particularly episodes with Dr. Shedler and Dr. McWilliams. Wise, engaging, relevant, necessary. Highly recommend.

Thank you thank you thank you
Amongst all my true crime & political podcasts I needed this As a physician, I have been tried supposedly medical podcasts that end up being a vanity project or revenue stream by promoting supplements & advocacy of decidedly unscientific products like Dutch testing, restrictive diets and scamfluencers. This is a podcast I can share with pts. Stay golden ☀️
  • Bunny Cub
    Jonathan Shedler is a narc
One would think Jonathan Shedler would have many chances to talk about his work and interests in his life but the way he monologues long form leaves one feeling he has no one to talk to in his life. Did his analysis not cover how to have a respectful conversation where we take turns, listen and respond?

    Go-To Psychology Podcast
Whether you’re a practitioner/provider or just someone with a special interest in all things Psychology, this podcast is phenomenal! Dr. Puder does an amazing job of communicating complex topics and concepts and providing excellent commentary. And truly props to the editing and sound on this show! I forget the name of the guy that does it but I genuinely appreciate being able to hear everything so clearly. You can’t really appreciate the sound editing until you’ve come across some absolutely terrible podcasts. Dr Puder always has amazing guests on the show and I especially have to shout out to Dr. Cummings; I’m not a professional but I love hearing him talk about dosages of different pharmaceuticals, and just his huge range of knowledge on psychology. Thank you David and everyone involved! I look forward to this show every week.

Helpful for all Helping Professions (I’m in Social Work)
This podcast is as intriguing as it is helpful. I love that it covers a wide range of topics that relate to all forms of mental healthcare. Right now I only have the training of a Bachelor’s degree in social work and know very little about the medical field; However, this podcast has helped me in my academic journey to expand my knowledge base. I feel like it has provided me with useful information that will allow me to better assist my clients. Also, I am currently a Guardian Advocate for an involuntary patient at an inpatient psychiatric facility. Some of the episodes about psych medications, (I especially appreciated the podcast discussing long acting injectable forms of antipsychotics and the one on the opioid crisis!) I’m a relatively new listener, but I plan on continuing to tune in!

I learn something every episode that helps me be better
I have enjoyed this podcast for quite a few years now. It helped me while in school and I frequent it for updates and to review past episodes. I am constantly telling fellow providers how informative it is. Keep up the solid work. - Caz Wester PMHNP

    Thoughtful and data-driven
I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve stopped what I’ve been doing while listening to this podcast in order to jot down a gem or a citation. This podcast is not just informative but thought-provoking, and I genuinely appreciate both the empathy and the scientific rigor that are modeled in each episode.

    Informative and educational

    Stumbled into Excellence
I stumbled across this podcast as a plebeian (non-doctor) looking to understand my mental health from an expert’s perspective, and I got hooked. My favorite episodes have been the episode on consent and competence (with a medical ethicist), the eclectic episode with Nancy McWilliams, the episode on personality disorders featuring Jonathan Shedler, and the two episodes with Joseph Goldberg. The thing I love most about this podcast is that I can listen to an episode more than once, and always come away with new information or insights. Definitely worth a listen!
