Essential Listening: 5 Ways to be a Better Cyclist
I’m a long time listener and just finished this episode with Fascat coach Justin Bowes. What I loved is Justin’s emphasis on the “soft skills” needed to get the most from the hard physical work we do on the bike. It’s not just about watts; it’s really about building a complete athlete with things like focus, preparedness and positive thinking. I was left with the impression that these lessons are not just for cyclists, they are universal. Thanks Fascat and Coach Justin!

    Just listening makes you….
Feel Faster! This is a great pod for learning about training and getting faster. Coach Frank- and all the coaches- are the real deal and cut through the noise to give you realistic, actionable coaching advice. You’ll love this pod and may even love more their optimize app, training plans, and unbelievable support! I started with one of their base plans in December and I’m riding much faster now that we are in season. Moving from base to race to dial things up a bit more. It works. Not too hot… not too cold…. Just right.

    Love this pod
Frank and the FasCat coaches know their stuff! I always learn something every time I tune in!

    Great Training Podcast
I've been listening to Frank and team for about a year now. His training tips and philosophy behind training have been incredibly helpful, FTFP, winning in the kitchen, etc. I finally pulled the plug on my old training software and moved over to FasCats new platform, Optimize. I've just started the 30 week off season plan, but am very happy so far. The support I've received from Frank and the coaches is unparalleled. The tips in this podcast are directly reflected in the plans and software. Keep up the great work!

    Podcast Volume
Great show great content but the volume on the show is messed up. One dude is talking like he is calling a golf match so you have to turn it up the others are fine but when you turn it up they are too loud. Increase his volume or have him lay off his “radio voice”.

    Finally Submitting a Review
Self coached cyclist with 10 years structured training finally submitting a review. By far my favorite training podcast, Frank’s straightforward techniques work if you FTFP. Really happy with Ben Delaney’s addition to the team, been a fan for years and he seems like a perfect fit for the podcast! Keep the episodes coming, much appreciated.

Excited to find another good cycling podcast!
There are few podcasts as good as trainerroad. This is one of them. I’m thankful I found this training-focused series.

    TOP Cycling Podcast 👌🏻
The last three episodes of the podcast with interviews of the three new FasCat Coaches were TOP!! These podcasts give you a nice, entertaining, and a glimpse of the people behind the photo haha My suggestion is to do the same with ALL FasCat Coaches, including the Big Cat. I’ve followed the podcast for a long time now and the new intro, sound, and music is great!! Yet, the new interview format for new coaches is as great and should be applied to the rest of the crew for new listeners and get to know them better!! Keep up the great work!! Kudos!!

    The best out there!
A teammate turned me on to the podcast and I’ve listened to every episode. Tons of great info and if you are looking for a great plan the Fascat team has the best! The MTB interval plan had me stronger than ever last season. With only a few months of Fascat programming I saw huge improvements. I have the full 30wk offseason plan loaded. Can’t wait to see the improvements!! Thank you to the Big Cat and all the Fascat team!

    Great Podcast, Great People
I have been listening to this podcast for a little over a year now and as an intermediate cyclist, I can’t recommend it enough. The information Frank, Jackson, Lacey, and the rest of the FasCat crew share is informative, digestible, and suitable for cyclists of all levels. You don’t have to be following their plans for the info to be relevant, though with the results I have seen I can say you should probably go ahead and get on one (plus their customer service is amazing- seriously, get on a plan).

    Incredible
I love hearing all the incredible podcasts by Frank. Check it out, you will learn something.

    Great Podcast! Here’s Why…
I recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to ride faster or just better. Frank shares his knowledge based on decades of experience coaching world-class and masters level athletes. This experience, combined with his impressive science education and background, makes him one of the top coaches in the nation. Frank and co-host Jackson Long are fun to listen to and offer practical ways to improve performance that consider the total person encompassing diet, family, work/life balance, and the psychological aspects in reaching one's potential as a cyclist.

    Something for everyone!
I’m a big fan of FasCat podcasts because each one offers something I can use in my training or racing right away, and then something to think about for later. I’ve appreciated the little tips along with the broader explanations on a wide range of subjects. I’ve gone back and listened to several of them a second time as my cycling skills or interests change and some of the past information is suddenly very relevant to what I am doing. The podcasts are entertaining and inspiring, and Frank and his FasCat coaches are so knowledgeable, but also responsible about staying within their areas of expertise. Five big stars! A subject I’d like to hear more about is how to deliberately develop the mental side of training and racing. I’m pretty good at FTFP, but my plan is pretty thin on the mental side, and that has not served me very well for the most part. How do you get to a race feeling nervous and excited, but confident, and on occasion, confident you can win? What do you think about (or what should you think about) on the start line? How do youplan to win the mental game and what are the skills to get you there?

    Faster than (almost) ever...
Ok, I never write reviews. Ever. Except when something stands out above all the rest. I was a full time cyclist a long time ago, in a galaxy far away from the one I abide in now. As a dad, business owner, husband, etc, things just sort of slipped away from consistent training and fitness across the years. Finding and following both the FasCat plans AND importantly, the Podcast for almost 3 years now, I've been happily surprised at how much stronger and faster I've become. Consistent training, excellent advice and support from the podcast, which provides a great balance between research and tried-and-true coaching are to be found here. I recommend this podcast to all my friends and riding partners. But not my competitors. JK, this Pod is good for everyone who wants to get faster and fitter on the bike! Thanks Frank, and all the FC coaches! Your kowledge and encouragement are amazing. Hey, here's a question for a future cast: In 2021, athletes of all ages have had more time than ever to build a HUUUGE base with Sweet Spot plans. When and/or how often should masters athletes fit in a cycle of high intensity intervals to keep things sharp?

    This Sh*# Works
I’ve been working with coach Isaiah for about a year and a half. In that time I’ve learned how to train with power, increased my FTP by 15% (and still rising!), and most importantly have made consistent training and healthy eating part of my everyday lifestyle. The eating part has taken the longest…but suddenly I looked in the mirror and barely recognized the new me - 7 pounds lighter and happy to report a leaner and stronger physique. The holistic approach FasCat takes - while still pushing athletes and holding them accountable - is refreshing. And clearly, it works! A future topic I’d be interested in hearing about on the pod: Road racing tactics 101. I’m about to take the plunge into some one-day races, and coming from a triathlon background I could use some tips. - Christine from Albany NY

    Love this podcast
This is a great podcast and is on my must listen to list every week. Very informative, great content and hosts and the training information and suggested plans are awesome.

Recent subscriber, and here’s why I’m here to stay…
Frank has such an unassuming humility about him, yet the guy’s breadth of scientific knowledge and real life coaching (and racing) experience all coalesce into a beautifully balanced podcast. No agendas. No pitches. Just straight, raw, hit-you-in-your-face knowledge. And the guy does it with some style, which I love. Frank, per your request for a podcast topic, I would love to hear about your approach to “sharpening“ after the build phase and specializing for the race season.
  • Pcote86
    #ftfp
I’ve been listening to the podcast for a while now and shows I missed in the past, I’ve gone back and listened to. So much good content on all aspects of getting fitter and faster. From on the bike, off the bike and in the kitchen, they offer so much good content you can put into practice to make yourself a better athlete. With their common mantras of “FTFP”, “winning in the kitchen (and grocery store)”, “TSTWKT”, “cry in the dojo” and more, they are able to illustrate that it’s not one aspect of your life that will impact your performance, but all the pieces together, that when manage correctly will get you the performance you want. Trust the process and the results will follow. Everything they preach is in their plans. Just feel yourself getting faster.

Can't believe they don't charge for this
Best cycling training podcast out there. Unbelieveable how much good, actionable information each episode contains. Thanks for putting this out there guys! #ftfp

    Very informative
This podcast is full of practical training, nutrition and general cycling information. I enjoy Frank’s communication style. It’s science backed but not actually science heavy.

    Listen while you FtFP
Great podcast for motivation and education while on the trainer in the winter! This year I am crying in the dojo to LOL on the battlefield.
  • DadWatts1234
    Great podcast!
I really enjoy the podcasts and how Frank and Jackson breakdown the scientific training process into achievable training goals for real world people that is easy to understand/implement. As a masters racer with kids and a fulltime job, I really like how they approach training, nutrition, and recovery. Their perspective for those of us with a limited amount time is super helpful for achieving good work-life-training balance.
  • Nicky135Bones
Some useful episodes if you can cope with the ongoing sales pitch
This is mostly just them trying to sell you coaching or nutritional plans. It gets old quick. Amongst that are some helpful tips but far too much “buy our plans” for me.

    Best of the Best!
Coach Frank and Jackson and Laycee and Isaiah, man sorry if I butchered the names, are the best. Love listening to their podcast. Recently signed up for the beginner winning in the kitchen program. After my current plan expires I plan to get set up with these guys since they balance complex concepts and topics with relatability. They always relate goals to why we cycle with an air of gratitude and humility. Love listening to these guys, love learning with these guys, looking forward to working with them in the future. All the best!!!

Great podcast and motivation to get fast!
With so many podcasts out there these days and only so much time in a day to listen it’s hard to listen to all of them. The fascat podcast is always at the top of my list. Great information for all cyclists to better your career. Don’t need to be a fascat athlete to get something out of this podcast. They do a great job of catering to all ability’s on this show and even master riders. You don't need to be a pro to understand what’s being discussed. Anyone wanting to perform better on the bike will benefit from this podcast. I can’t get enough of Frank and the team. If your looking for some training plans to help you improve on the bike. Look no further. Pick a plan and follow the plan! FTFP. If your unsure what plan to get send them an email and they WILL respond. I have sent emails on Sunday morning at 8 am and gotten a response right away. Top notch group of cyclists, podcast, and training plans. The total package. Stay safe and happy pedaling. Oh yeah FTFP!!!!

    Best Cycling Podcast
This has quickly become my favorite cycling podcast. For anyone interested in methodical data-backed cycling knowledge and everything that goes along with training successfully. This includes diet (#Winninginthekitchen), yoga, recovery techniques, and how to prepare for the biggest races like Dirty Kanza. I’ve learned so much in the last year from this podcast and finally pulled the trigger on the 18 weeks of Sweet Spot training. It’s been an amazing journey so far! Keep up the great work! Steve

    A+ Training Program
A complete training program without all the fancy and over complicated interval design. The best out there for those looking for results without the additional cognitive load.

    The whole package
This is one of the most complete libraries of training information out there. They give great advice every episode and also make sure to refer you to an older podcasts if you want a bigger dive into a subject they mention but aren't covering in that episode. Pairing the podcast with the training plans it really creates the whole package and understanding of what you should be doing to prepare for your next race, event, or just dropping a buddy on a group ride. Love the podcast and look forward to hearing from them every week.

    4 Words of Gravel Advice
Pacing, fueling, hydration, equipment. Great podcast. Great advice. Great concepts to think about as you work your way through 18 weeks of Sweet Spot training for the 2020 Gravel season. Frank & Jackson nailed this topic & they’re easy to listen to. Must listen material if you’re considering doing your first gravel event or if you have done a few & want to have a faster or more fun day of riding 100-200+ miles of gravel. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

    Worth the listen
Great podcast. Perfect compliment to the training program I purchased from FasCat. Great motivation while I listen during my Weight lifting, off-season workouts.

    Wife Likes My Thighs Now
I was putting my bike away yesterday and my wife goes, "Your thighs are huge, what have you been doing?" **Blank stare** "FTFP babe." No joke, these guys are a wealth of knowledge. Coupling their expertise on all things cycling with their training plans has not only bumped my FTP 30 watts in just a few months but reignited my motivation for training. I wrapped up Phil's KOM - Advanced plan at the end of this past season and am half way through the winter resistance program. Wake up every day looking forward to my workout! Can't wait to see this work pay dividends in the spring. Big love to Frank, Jackson and the entire Fascat staff.
  • Elle3323
    Great cycling podcast
As someone who enjoys knowing the why behind what I'm doing, this podcast is perfect to go with the fascat training plans they provide! I've recommended many friends to these plans and everyone loves them! They're such a great value! I also enjoy Jackson and Frank and the way they discuss everything in this podcast. They aren't trying to one-up each other like I've seen some macho hosts annoyingly do in some other training podcasts! I think this podcast could be better if episodes were kept under 45 minutes length and there were more guests interviewed!

    1 year anniversary
Great Podcast. I have been listening to these guys for the last year. The first podcast was about SBT GRVL a year ago and now we have come full circle w the most recent podcast. Always informative, leads you in the right direction and is great for the masters cyclist.

Vegan after watching a Netflix episode?
I’ve listened to every episode and usually find some applicable information for my future training. Unfortunately, I’m a bit disappointed when I heard Frank switching to vegan, because he watched a Netflix show. I’m not opposed to the idea of “winning in the kitchen” with plants, but based off a movie is a bit of a weak argument. Definitely listening with more skepticism moving forward.
  • SimonBailey73
    Not so “N”Iceman!
Frank, Wanted to write a review and let you know how amazing your training has been. After you coached me last year I repeated the majority of the programs to try and peak for Iceman and peak is what I did. With two weeks to go I hit my all time 1 min, 5 min and 20min power and then with 1 week to go rode a local gravel race (the Lowell 33) and won overall. And whilst my actual result at Iceman wasn’t what I really wanted, that was primarily due to the conditions and my bike handling, and not my fitness. Thanks for all you have taught me, I will always be a fascat! Simon Bailey
  • RobRawks
    Good training podcast, preachy vegans
I’ve listened to majority of these episodes and while I do enjoy the training tips, I’m disappointed about their stance on diets. In the earlier episodes they mentioned they enjoy plant based diets. I was fine with that, they didn’t preach about it. However, their most recent episode they acted like stereotypical vegans. 20 minutes on why plant based diets are superior because of a documentary they watched on Netflix. They came up with their conclusion after “googling” a couple of “scientific” papers that supported their beliefs. I can now expect their upcoming cookbook “Winning in the kitchen” to be plant based. Disappointed they decided to go down this path.

    Best Training Pod
Excellent pod for dialing in your training, particularly for self coached athletes. The topics are on point, often covering a topic at exactly the point in the season or off season when you need the answers most. Thanks Frank and Jackson!
  • Conga10
    Very Informative
Frank and crew do a very good job of clearly laying out everything needed to become a faster, more successful cyclist. It’s not about selling anything, it’s about conveying important information dedicated to making a faster cyclist.
