Nft249Good but,The narrator has a weird speech pattern where he ends a lot of words with a sound similar to “uh” and it throws me off. Otherwise it’s a good podcast.

Uncle_CoCo_Yes, but…I enjoy this podcast and appreciate your content! I would highly recommend looking up large words before reading the final script. Each ep has quite a few odd usages of larger words. It’s as if the reader is trying to sound more intelligent, however it takes me out of the episode when it occurs. An example would be “domineering stature”. Like, I kind of get what you’re trying to say but it’s an awkward and incorrect use of domineering. Just say “large stature”. Just my 2 cents! Otherwise, great pod and keep it up!

cecegrrlEpi 243Excellent! Riveting! Tragic story, beautifully renditioned; Mike’s a pro in the TC genre, hands down. How laughable the Montana law enforcement was on this and other First Nation cases- the routine murder of NA’s (hit & run) as pedestrians. Revealing and sickening. Alas, a satisfying ending with some justice meted out. 👍

BluntinVBTransitions to/from adsDo better with the transitions to and from ads. I end up fast forwarding to far and then give up on trying to find where I left off. Shouldn’t have to work this hard to listen to your podcast.

Goldie StardustIncreasingly convolutedUsed to be absolutely mesmerizing storytelling…. Now has become an exceptional exercise is long-winded, eye-rolling inducing overly repetitive regurgitation. Tighten it up, dude. Seriously. Used to rock.

cmdmexcellent podcast…exactly what i like in a true crime podcast…clear and well researched with a great voice…

OceanBrz1976ExcellentThis is my fav true crime podcast. I love the deep dives, long form and incredible storytelling. I had to subscribe so I could listen to them all and am not mad about it!

Michelle L. M.Ghettocreek alumniThis week’s episode was tough! As a Norcross based, Meadowcreek alumni, this literally hit too close to home (and yes, people have never been shy about calling it Ghetto creek). Mi corazon esta con su familia para siempre ❤️💔

StaReBlueLosing appealHave listened to Invisible Choir for years and really enjoy it. But lately the storytelling is getting too drawn out, too wordy about things that really don’t matter to the overall story, like an effort to just make the episodes longer. Would be more engaging to cut out 25-30% and focus on the interesting parts of the story.

nanciemar84So goodOne of the best true crime podcasts out!

Lyle48True Crime Done RightSome true crime podcasts are heavily sensationalized. Some have so-so audio quality, or a bland, lackluster style of storytelling. Some are burdened by the host's and / or producer's political beliefs, which are permitted to infect the material to a degree that they start to contradict facts and become divorced from reality and objectivity. This is NOT that kind of pocast. Invisible Choir is a true crime podcast that focuses on telling the story of a crime using witness testimonies, source audio (911 calls, court proceedings, police interrogations), and actual evidence collected during the course of the ensuing investigation. Unlike others in its genre, Invisible Choir is concerned with telling the stories of the *victims* in these cases: who they were as people, who they loved and impacted, and the resulting ripple effect of the severe loss that was suffered from their deaths. Rather than spending its runtime meditating on the harsh brutality of a murder, going into unnecessarily gruesome details which do not ultimately add to the story, or harping on for minutes about a subjective (and usually widly incorrect or disengenuous) opinion based on the story being told, Invisible Choir uses every one of its minutes to deliver precisely-written and factually-based true crime stories that are recounted empathetically, humanely, and respectfully. This is what a true crime podcast *should* sound like. If you believe this kind of material should be handled with the tact, the decency, and the seriousness that it deserves, this podcast is for you. And thanks to the care and creativity that goes into these episodes, they always remain intriguing and entertaining until the very end. Leave all the true crime "trashcasts" behind - you'll be happy you did. (Note: Not sure what the couple of one-star reviews are on about; this is one of the only true crime podcasts that I've listened to where any mental illness involved in a case is discussed *without* judgment or politicization. In addition, there has yet to be a moment where the host has blamed a crime on any single particular thing, much less on something as nebulous and imprecise as "evil" - he simply does not do that. He gives you the facts and evidence, and tells the victim's story. If you're upset that the host doesn't cast blame on an individual problem or person in society / culture / the justice system, then there are plenty of other podcasts that will reaffirm your pre-existing beliefs regardless of their merit and will feed you the endless ragebait you crave. I'd quit whining and simply go elsewhere.)
-
internetbridgetTyler DaisyHow you could cover this case and not discuss mental health at more length is nothing short of ignorant and irresponsible. Reducing people to evil monsters is just laziness. WOMP WOMP

Hippie76FantasticWell produced podcast!

tcm7236DisappointedI’ve been listening for years. Now all the episodes are subscriber only? Like I understand every other one to make money but some of us are very poor and can’t afford 10 a month. Im just sad I miss my fave podcast.

SaintteaThink Sword and Scale But Without The Jerk FoolishnessIf you like Sword and Scale’s concept of good true crime storytelling mixed in with cinematic elements and compelling audio, BUT do not like whiny and gratuitously offensive commentary that screams contrived, then Invisible Choir is for you. IC’s Mike is a gifted storyteller that knows when to stay in his lane. I am glad I found this podcast.

blahblahrating3472HookedI used to be a dedicated s&s listener who tolerated the host’s misogynistic quips for “interesting cases”. YALLLL THIS IS THE ALTERNATIVE AND ITS SO MUCH BETTER.
-
praxis78Prior S&S listenerSwitched to this podcast on the recommendation there was good story telling and zero smug right-wing commentary

milok9starrA Breath of the Freshest Air and Drink of the Coolest WaterI was recently recommended this podcast and am so ecstatic about it that I HAD to leave a glowing review. Between 6-8 years ago I was a long time listener of Sword and Scale, and then was put off in a way I can only describe as a total record scratch by how its host went off the rails bonkers with insulting viewers and subscribers, harassing women and other podcast hosts, and to this day inserting the most vile remarks into his commentary that have frankly made the entire podcast unethical and a disgrace to True Crime content. I can tell how many others in the reviews have also come from the cesspool that is Mike Boudet searching for respite while we work from home or go to the gym or walk the dog. But I digress. I adore this podcast. Michael’s commentary is thoughtful and thought-provoking without being judgmental or making any inappropriate quips or remarks about anyone involved despite what he might personally think about the cases and those involved. I think everyone on the team does a great job at providing well-researched information in an empathetic and respectful way while still sticking to the facts of the cases. I also accept that personal biases are going to be present everywhere because these are real people’s stories and real people telling these stories, so no presentation is going to be perfect especially over ~300 episodes. But I believe the team does the best they can to remain objective, but kind. Empathetic, but firmly moral. And I think one-star reviews over that are just conservative trolls. I’m so happy to have found a refreshing and ethical place to jump back into this content, and wish the writers and production team the best with future episodes!

jacqsunExcellentOne of my favorite true crime podcasts. No political commentaries, no irritating or offensive remarks. Just the facts, told by a calm, and well informed professional.
-
Frick-frackThe best!Michael’s deeply researched, respectful and empathetic approach to every story he presents is unmatched. His honesty & willingness to share his own story is not only brave, but also connects him on a deeper level with the victims and families of other violent crimes. He also has a great voice for story telling. It’s very relaxing & captivating… in a true crime kind of way.
-
AnnieT541Loving this! The host is engaging and detailed - the stories appear to be well researched & the writing/delivery are spot on!

MeewhomDisappointed in Bias and InconsistencyI have been a listener of Invisible Choir for some time and have appreciated the podcast’s ability to shine a light on dark and complicated stories. However, I was deeply disappointed by what I perceive as a troubling inconsistency in the presenter’s approach to discussing crimes across different racial groups. In one episode, the presenter appeared to condemn members of one race for their actions while, in another, seemed to excuse or rationalize equally heinous crimes committed by individuals of a different race. This double standard is deeply unsettling, as it undermines the podcast’s credibility and fairness. Crime is crime, and justice should be applied equally, regardless of the perpetrator’s background. I listen to true crime podcasts for insightful, unbiased storytelling—not to hear selective moralizing that seems to shift based on race. I hope the creators reflect on this issue and strive for more balanced narratives in the future. You pandering coward

IzzyandtheJetsPoeticI really like this podcast. It covers interesting and lesser known cases. I can also appreciate the host’s sense of humor taking jabs at the killers. The host also excellent at examining human nature and life. The commentary he provides on some of the cases truly makes you consider the nature of people.
-
BagLadyPAOne of the best and no it’s not “woke”In a crowded field of mostly mediocre true crime podcasts, this one stands out for lesser-known stories told with sensitivity and well researched. I don’t see the left wing bias some people mention, and I am quite conservative. I’d say there is little to no political commentary, which is why I enjoy it.

Doc I.C.Stumbled upon this podcast last spring- so glad I did*Invisible Choir* is an incredible podcast that I can’t recommend enough. Michael’s voice is soothing yet powerful, and his insights into the cases he covers are both thoughtful and eye-opening. As someone who practices psychiatry at a county jail, I’ve come across a few cases Michael has discussed involving my own patients/inmates. It’s always fascinating to hear an outsider’s perspective on cases I know firsthand, and Michael handles each story with care and integrity. I especially appreciated his honesty about BetterHelp—his transparency was refreshing and rare in today’s podcast landscape. Michael, keep doing what you’re doing! Your work makes my long drives so much more engaging, and I look forward to every new episode.

CorwianNew to this podcastI just started podcasts this summer and only listen to true crime. I subscribed to this one because I enjoy listening to the host. Many of the episodes have touched me deeply and I appreciate the respect shown to the victims and the truth. A couple of my favorites are the episodes about Ryan Waller, Emily Noble and Sgt. Matt Ratana. Keep up the great investigating and storytelling.

NicoooooooooolioPerfect Storm FeedbackI absolutely love this podcast (thus my 5-star review). I was incredibly disappointed by the way Carly’s clear mental health issues were seemingly dismissed by the courts. For 1) a diagnosis of bipolar does not always strictly follow what is outlined in the DSM-5, there is a concept of mixed episodes where a bipolar person can rapidly cycle through mania and depression and 2) the prosecution all but admitted that Carly was more likely to have a diagnosis of borderline based on her description of disassociation (which please tell me you can hold a child accountable for “accurately” describing your interpretation of disassociation), rapid mood swings, and self harm behavior. I am glad you shared this story bc it sheds light on how overlooked mental health is in this country. I just wish there had been more thought into the commentary around the prosecutions testimony on Carly’s mental health.
-
Juliagulia1981Invisible ChoirGreat storytelling! I also LOVE how open the host is about his struggles. It’s not easy to talk about mental health struggles and I really respect his candor. It makes it easier for the rest of us to be open. Thank you ♥️

Maybe_aleaCaptivating!Amazing research and story telling!

Jimmy NeutronicWhat happened?Bailing on this one. The first seasons were amazing. And then it was good. Then it was okay. Now the highlight of the last year or so is a better help as thrashing them. I didn’t mind supporting the show but even the subscription content is lagging. Best of luck kids

Joshua1:5Fire!Wow! Amazing! I love this podcast. This podcast is detailed...very detailed. New stories that no other podcast are doing...not the same stories everyone else (seemingly within the same month of the other) is doing. THIS IS THE SHOW! Get hooked now! The BetterHelp ad is honest and I loved it. It is a sentiment to the integrity of the podcast.
-
SmallMomoftwoAmazing and HONEST!I love your show! It’s be of the very best. Your detail to the stories is really good. You have great voice for the podcast and you truly have a talent. Also, your honesty is so inspiring. Thank you so much for being so honest about the situation you have with the online counseling’s situation. I feel that you probably helped a lot of people by sharing your experience. I know I am one who has done online counseling and I hate being rescheduled, over charged, and ending up not getting the help I was looking for. So, thank you for all you do.
-

-
WS – true crime fanSubscribers onlyI love Invisible Choir and have for years, and after not listening for months, due to no regular episodes available I was sad to see that it was for paying subscribers only now, I went through many many many titles to find subscribers episodes were available… Very sad about this.

macbabe16Well Produced, Could you Lose the AI voices?AI voices are distracting and there are points in which they go on for long passages. Please consider ditching the AI in favor of real voice actors. AI takes work from creators and real people. It’s not ethical; even if you hire college students, prioritize real people please.
-
ConniecoExcellent! Those who complain about this podcast are right wing whiny brats. This is an excellent true crime podcast.
