Tools for living life more abundantly
After listening to the episode on The Bear I decided to watch the show with my husband. He is the CEO of a large company. He remarked how he saw himself in Carmy. I shared this podcast with him along with the things I’ve been learning about anxiety through listening to the show. It has been life changing for us, both at work and at home as we’ve become cognizant of what’s going on inside of ourselves, and using the things we are learning to pause and take stock of what causes us to be triggered, and what kind of atmosphere we generate. We’ve been sharing the things we are learning with our family and friends. Thank you!

    Healing podcast
This podcast helped me so much after I read the book, Managing Leadership Anxiety. My friend told me to read that book when he realized how anxious I was as a pastor. He said that his friend had read it and said that it saved him from leaving ministry. The podcast goes even deeper than the book and I listen to it as soon as it pops up on my podcast app.

    Always on time
I learned about Steve by my son in law who gave me his book Managing Leadership Anxiety. It challenged me! I immediately started to listen to the podcast and it encourages me to stay on a path of learning more about my walk with Jesus every day. Ty

Being Human, a place to learn and grow
In Being Human, Steve Cuss takes us below the surface of reactivity to help understand the whys and then provides tools to grow, as humans, in the places we are. Thanks Steve

The Most Powerful/Helpful Podcast I Know Of
For me, Steve and the"Being Human" podcasts, have been life-changing. I discovered the podcast during a time of deep, personal anxiety. The podcasts have served as a blessing of encouragement, wisdom, and pastoral care that have helped me to realize I am not alone in my struggles and feelings of isolation. I have heard every broadcast and have replayed a few episodes. I always look forward to hearing what Steve has to share. Thank you, Steve.

    One of my favorite podcasts!!
This is by far one of my favorite and most helpful podcasts! Diving into sources of anxiety for leaders and relating to other leaders is so helpful. I’m constantly sending episodes to others, “you have to listen to this one!” Steve is one of the best interviewers!

Everything I want in a podcast
This podcast is one of my favorites. Every time I listen I feel like I’ve learned something, been challenged, or inspired all in the most gentle way. This podcast makes me feel peaceful and draws me closer to God. So thankful for the work of Steve and Lisa.

    So glad
Steve Cuss is full of wisdom. I heard him first on an Enneagram podcast as a guest. The responses to the questions were intriguing enough for me to Google his name, and that’s how I discovered him here. It’s been really helpful in helping manage my anxiety.

Love your show but one small suggestion
I love your show and learn so much from it! Lately, though, the first entire half seems to be taken up with pitching your class and books. Please consider moving that info to the second half of the show and getting right to the “meat” of the show, at least for most of your episodes. I know you need to share about your course and offerings sometimes. Thanks!!

    Best rabbit hole ever
I found this podcast while listening to Steve being interviewed on another podcast (Carey Nieuwhof) and man what a fabulously rewarding rabbit hole the past year++ has been. The podcast, the book, the Capable Life content - it’s all exactly what I needed and has been transformational for me as a leader. Thank you Steve and everyone at Capable Life for bringing such great content week after week, season after season. 🙏🏻

    Insightful
A lot of what Steve shares and opens up about proves to be very encouraging and specifically helpful to a lot of struggles I face in leadership. I often can’t find this kind of Christian-saturated, yet self-aware information anywhere else. This is a must listen for Christian leaders today.

    Helpful and encouraging.
One of the first podcast I listen to every week.

    My favorite leadership podcast
Seriously, this is my favorite podcast in the leadership space. Steve keeps it real and instead of acting like a guru who has it all figured out, he is willing to share his own struggles with anxiety. I find this show to be a source of encouragement and an antidote the “quick fix” mentality in myself and in our culture.

    I love this podcast

    Tired of all the drama?
I have loved the thoughtful discussion of this podcast and the deep insights into group and team dynamics. I have seen and experienced plenty of toxic and unnecessary drama in team settings and find myself longing more and more for better, healthier ways to engage with others. I particularly appreciate how this show discusses anxiety both in self and others, then gives tips and encouragement on how to engage in a healthier way. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves up and help steer the ship away from drama and dysfunction, I recommend adding this podcast as a tool in your tool belt. Thank you to Steve and your team. Keep up the good work.

    Ted Lasso Episode
Someone that knew I was a big Ted Lasso (from a leadership standpoint) sent me that episode, and it’s probably one of the single best podcast episodes on leadership that I’ve listened to.

    Incredibly helpful insightful
I’ve been listening to the podcast ever since I read Steve Cuss’s book “Managing Leadership Anxiety,” and I’m not overstating it when I say that Cuss’s work has been one of the most transformative resources I’ve ever encountered.

    Desperately Needed
So many leaders are chronically anxious but completely unaware of its impact. This podcast (and the book by the same name) offer desperately needed insight that will serve any leader extraordinary well. Such great honest questions and honest answers by respected leaders. I find myself calmer and more self-aware just by listening to these. It is really helpful if you read the MLA Book.

    Fantastic!
I discovered this podcast when Steve’s Ted Lasso episode was shared with my husband. We loved that episode and the insight Steve brought combining faith, psychology and leadership. As a result, I’ve fallen in love with the whole podcast show, and I find myself recommending it as often as I can.

    Anxiety Managed
Seriously though, Steve is a wonderful man and his content is very helpful. He has really helped me learn to not be overly responsible for people and situations that are out of my control. This has lowered my anxiety. Highly recommend and thanks for your work Steve

When you feel the need to cuss, just listen to Cuss!
That title is lame but in all seriousness, I read through Steve’s book and now listen to his podcast because of the way he, using the gospel and systems theory, could help me see what I do often feel, name the moments of tension and anxiety, and offer a way forward from a posture of both vulnerability and authority. This theory and Steve’s ability to see it applied has begun to serve me in my home, as a father and husband, in my work in a small organization, and even in my friendships as we seek to be known and loved urging each other towards growth and Christ-likeness. Steve’s work is a gift to those who wish to be well.

    Fantastic
Steve’s podcast is one of the very few that I listen to consistently. His manner, material, and guests all combine to make this one of the most helpful and enriching series of conversations I get to listen in on. Thank you, Steve!

    Awesomeness
It is so encouraging to hear that as a leader we do not have to be controlled by anxiety (and we all lied and some sphere of our life). This podcast really helps being able to see clearly what is stress and how it affects the choices and decisions I have to make. It seems seeing my emotions for what they are is half the battle. Go Steve go!

    Eye-opening
I discovered this podcast in the fall, read and listened to the Managing Leadership Anxiety book Jan-Feb, and joined Capable Life online community in April. The principles stated in this podcast/book have been life changing for me. I do not use that term lightly. Beginning to understand sources of anxiety within myself has been eye opening. I’m 48 and I feel as if I am at the beginning of a journey, to understand/see myself differently than ever before. Highly recommend this podcast and the other resources available.

    Tangible Steps Toward Real Life-Change
I have been following Steve’s podcast and his associated website Capable Life for about 3 months now. Already in that time I’ve seen God use the tools and concepts discussed on this show to bring about real change in my life. Steve is quickly becoming the go-to voice for anxiety among leaders, and what we can do to lead calmer lives. Thanks so much Steve, keep up the amazing work!

#1 podcast for leaders’ interior life
This podcast is hands-down my most recommended podcast for leaders, and especially Christian leaders/pastors, during this time. The pandemic has unveiled the unprecedented amount of anxiety in our country, spheres of influence, families, and in ourselves, and Steve does an incredible job of helping provide a framework for understanding anxiety. His interviews are full of stories of vulnerability and anxiety in other leaders, and how to lead through it.

    Great stuff!
Turns American productivity’s influence over church life and leaders on its head. Love it!

    Podcast Therapy
2020 was hard on all people in ministry. Especially Pastors. This podcast got me through the healing of leading a church at the beginning of the pandemic to that same church traumatically pushing me out 5 months later. As I am still healing from these wounds, God had used this podcast to prep me for the Kingdom work ahead whatever and where that may be. Thank you Steve!

    Phenomenal Podcast On Managing Anxiety
I have been following Steve’s work for almost a full year starting with his book “Managing Leadership Anxiety.” It has been a game changing for my leadership at my Church and my home. I highly recommend this podcast for anyone who wants help learning how to manage their anxiety and taking back the control instead of letting your anxiety manage you.

    Very Helpful
The basic premise of this podcast - knowing how to recognize anxiety when it shows up allows you to manage it, instead of it managing you - is so helpful. Regardless of leadership context none of us are immune to anxious thoughts, imposter syndrome thinking and classic double binds. The language you gain here is a powerful tool to naming and managing anxiety.
  • angelicamariacerda
    Gold mine
The matieral Steve and his guests dig into is very helpful, relevant, and deep. There is so much gold to mine out of it. There's always more to learn, remember, or rethink. This podcaset and it's material is wonderful if you desire to better know yourself and work well and effectively with others.

    Insightful and Impactful
I am so thankful for this incredibly rich resource. As the lead pastor of a small community church, I can attest to the very real and very powerful reality of leadership anxiety. Not only does this podcast provide listeners with insight into the reality of leadership anxiety, but it also equips listeners with the tools needed to navigate through those moments when the mind begins to spin, the heart begins to race, and the gut begins to tighten!

    Great Series
This series has been very beneficial for me in helping to overcome various issues I have with anxiety. It's also good to know the kinds of anxiety that these types of high-level leaders experience, as often it is easy to see these people as superhumans who have all their stuff together. This podcast helps me to view those people in a more human light and realize that everybody has the same types of issues, regardless of how far along in life or how successful they are.
