    Awesome!
This podcast has made my practices much more effective and fun for myself and my players. My favorite drills are the Fungo drill and the High Tempo Scrimmage. It’s kind of sad to see the kids on the other teams at the facility watching our high tempo practice longingly while they spend most of their time standing lines. Thanks Coach Dave!

    Almost perfect
The philosophy of this podcast is pretty solid. My only issue is with the idea from the Matheny Manifesto that parents and players to be “silent” on the sidelines. In my opinion it’s old school mentality like this that is keeping the game of baseball from progressing to new heights. As long as the people on the sidelines encourage with positivity, I don’t care how loud they get. It makes it more fun for everyone. Also don’t really understand how a lefty thrower at an infield position is “dangerous” to them at the lower levels… because it’s not

    Thanks!
Coach Dave, I’m a former college basketball player and varsity football coach that finds myself coaching my son's 10u team. I've coached these kids (all classmates at the Christian school I work at) since they were 4 in every sport, but after coach pitch, I've tried to find other, more knowledgeable baseball coaches for them. Well, all the dads who have time and competency to coach have moved their kids to travel teams for the coming year, leaving me with 11 rec level kids and a couple of part time assistants. After listening to the first 16 episodes of your podcast and finding other online resources, I'm feeling more equipped to coach baseball than ever before. Since you gave out this email address in episode 16, I thought I should reach out and thank you for creating this resource. I fully intend to have every episode listened to before the season starts March 2nd. I do media production on the side and know the time it can take to do this kind of thing. So, thanks again!

    The real deal
I’ve listened to each episode twice and can’t wait for more. Dave Holt cuts through all of the overwhelming info out there and has helped me run fun, organized and productive practices. Thank you so much for providing a clear concise message for all the dad coaches out there trying to teach the fundamentals and keep kids interested in rec league baseball.

    Holt hates leftys
Something happened to you to make you hate left handed ball players. Was it something Jimmy Watkins did? Did he show you up or something? Because the things you say about left-handed ball players are ridiculous at the youth level. Business about lefty shortstop being dangerous to their arms is absurd. It’s no more dangerous than a righty second baseman going to third-base. No doubt the extra fraction of a second it takes lefty short stop to make an extra degree of turn to through to first won’t work in high levels of baseball, but for 10-year-olds it’s a different story. You sound like a typical example of arrogance in coaching. Look in the mirror and examine your own biases. A 10-year-old lefty has a ton to learn and benefit by playing the middle infield. Except to you it shouldn’t be done because it is “dangerous“.

    Great Info
I have coached for 52 year at the youth level, high school level as well as legion ball. The podcast is very accurate in its assessment of the issues related to travel ball. I resent the fact I must obtain various certifications including background checks to coach high school baseball within the state. A travel ball coach can organize and coach a team without out having met any type of state standard of certification.

MUST listen for youth baseball coaches and parents
As a youth baseball coach, I count this as one of the top 3 youth coaching podcasts out there. This is chock full of baseball wisdom from someone who’s been involved as a player and coach from youth to the professional level. He knows what he’s talking about from years of studying the game and experience as a coach. More importantly, he preaches the correct priorities, i.e. player development over winning at all costs. Thanks for the timely, quality baseball coaching podcast!
