The 7th Rule -- A Star Trek Podcast with DS9's Cirroc Lofton

145

The 7th Rule began when Aron Eisenberg & Cirroc Lofton (Nog & Jake Sisko from Star Trek Deep Space Nine) reunited and teamed up with host Ryan T. Husk in January of 2019 to rewatch and discuss the show we all know and love.

Years later, and after the tragic passing of our brother, Aron Eisenberg, we have continued on, in his name, with in-depth discussions, joined by creators, directors, writers, actors, and Aron's widow, Malissa Longo.

    Trash
I happen to listen to the episode about Ensign Ro on the day that Hamas returned 2 Jewish babies strangled to death. Cirroc compares Israel to the Cardassians occupying Bajor. Just another uneducated Hollywood mouth piece looking for a kind of forum to spread misinformation about Jewish people.

    A great crew!
I’ve been listening since The 7th Rule was reviewing Deep Space Nine. Ryan, Malissa, Cirroc, and Denise have such great chemistry reviewing The Next Generation now. Now that Seasons 1 and 2 are over (LOL), I look forward to the new TNG episode drop every Sunday. It’s a great time!

Nojay consortium is an AAA business!
I love hearing Cirroc Aron and Malissa and It’s great to have this small capsule of Aron and his feelings about the show and getting to see him as a real person behind the makeup. Unfortunately they have a rude amateur host that speaks over guests just to tell a dumb joke. This podcast would be 5 stars if the amateur “host” would return to commercials and soap operas; the limit of their talent. Ryan Huss please stop talking over everyone, this podcast is not about you.

    My favorite Star Trek podcast
Cirroc ,Ryan and also when Denise Cosby is on are my favorite to listen to. I love when u guys break down each put in the episodes. A lot of times I agree with u guys. Cirroc and Ryan make me laugh.I love when you get guess who was put of the show and go behind the scenes. Ur podcast is the only Star Trek podcast that has a free for all and they can give their opinions that never worked on the show. Keep up the great work guys 👍👍👍. I look forward to Mondays to listen. Can’t wait for u to go into other shows like TOS or Voyager. Melissa

    I LOVE The 7th Rule!!
This is a refreshing show with so much HEART!!! I love hearing the differing perspectives from ALL of the hosts (main, as well as co-hosts). It's wonderful that it is a bit of a time capsule for Aron. The FFAs add something unique to podcasting too! Keep up the amazing work and I will keep my ears OPEN!

    Volume too low
I listen on my iPod at work and can barely hear the audio feed . Increase the volume of it . It's easy to increase the input but the output ... you can't increase what you don"t have .

    The BEST Star Trek Podcast
I've been a loyal T7R listener for a quite a while, but after Aron's passing jumped into the live chats and never looked back. It's been an emotional necessity just before and during the pandemic. Aron, Cirroc and Ryan have been shining examples of how to bring Trek community together with love and appreciation for what it is. It's more than looking at DS9 on the surface - it's the shared experiences, emotions, friendship, production background, and insights gleaned from each episode and what the characters and overall message means to fans. I can't recommend The 7th Rule enough! ❤️💛💙🤓🖖🏾

I love this podcast so much- the hosts are incredibly insightful and kind. Greatly increases my enjoyment and appreciation of the show by watching an episode and then listening to the corresponding discussion. Highly recommend. Also encourage everyone to participate in their live YouTube premiers to engage with other fans.

Good content, but lacks any amount of enthusiasm
I’ve been listening on/off since the first episodes, and this will be the first time that I have ever re-written a review (original at the bottom). When Aron Eisenberg was still with us, he provided so much enthusiasm to this podcast! So when Cirroc and Ryan seemed very down after Aron’s passing, I let it go. But two years later, their complete lack of enthusiasm is simply dreadful for a podcast! While I enjoy the content and discussion, I can’t count the number of times that I have heard one of them say with a dead-pan voice “what a great moment, great acting, absolutely phenomenal” yet with less emotion than a Vulcan Borg drone, with the other to then reply in an equally dry and emotionless tone “I agree. Totally. <long pause>”. Their lack of enthusiasm makes it almost unlistenable, and I can barely make it through a single episode unless they have an enthusiastic guest on with them. Otherwise it’s just depressing, and that’s not what I want when I think about Star Trek. (Not to mention how often Cirroc’s connection is lost, or his audio gets garbled.) Guys: If doing the show has become a chore for you, then please just stop. But if you really want to continue, then I beg you both to step up your game! As I said, I enjoy the content, but your delivery and production quality is unbearable. It sounds like you’d have more excitability in your voices if you were going in for a root-canal right after recording. — Original review below — Truly amazing series, with a terribly sad event! I will cherish the episodes with Aron's humor, wit, and hoo-manity forever! I am also very happy that in spite of the universe taking Aron too soon, that Cirroc and party have decided to continue on with the show! To them and other fans I will say this: May this series continue on, and help bring you some peace, laughs, and healing! It has definitely helped me!

    My favorite podcast
I could write pages here; firstly, this show is great if you have any nostalgia for DS9 or 90s Trek because Cirroc, Jarrod and Ryan book amazing guests, particularly the writers of my favorite eps. If you miss Aron as much as any DS9 fan, this is a great way to keep his spirit and memory alive. He and Rene passing so recently, the cast members always have great stories about their craft and it makes it less painful to know they’re remembered so strongly by their friends. Hearing about Cirroc’s process working with Avery and all the others is so fresh too, this is the first time I’ve heard any DS9 cast members allowed more than only a few minutes of sound bites on talk shows about their craft; it’s like Trek Actor Studio! They’re also super engaged with the fan base, the second half of most shows has all their patreon supporters join in. Highly, highly recommend this excellent Trek podcast. I just think it’s crummy of Michael Chiklis to refuse to come on, he owes it to Aron...

    Awesome Show
Loving the show and all of the contributors. There is a ton of awesome content and the YouTube channel is excellent as well. RIP Aron. You are missed.

    Thank you!!
DS9 has and will always be my favorite trek series since the first time I saw an episode. Thank you for continuing this podcast, and an even bigger thank you for keeping our present day politics out of it. I come to listen to Star Trek-based discussions, not politics, and that’s becoming increasingly difficult no matter where you go. I miss Aron’s voice but you guys are doing great by his memory, please keep it up!

Good content, but not good enough to overcome bad production
In the podcasting world, if your production sounds bad, your content has to has to has to has to be great. This podcast has good content, especially with the pull of a former cast member, but it’s just too hard to listen to with bad mics, bad sound, and whatever else. I truly hope they get this figured out, because if they simply made this pod listenable, it’d be on my rotation every week.

    Long Live T7R!
I’ve been listening to this podcast for the past few weeks as I love DS9 and all things Star Trek, and wowee is it great! I was trying to catch up as to be up-to-date when I just heard about the untimely death of Aron, I want to express my deepest sympathies to you all and to his family and other friends. It is awful to lose a shining beacon of humanity like Aron was to us, he showed that overcoming adversity was possible in all of us. We didn’t need to be some “strapping” lad to be able to show courage and sacrifice in the face of death, that ability is in all of us. I hope you all do decide to carry forth with this podcast in Aron’s memory, but if you don’t then I totally understand. Either way, you guys have had a great run and I’m just glad I could be a part of the ride. RIP Aron “Nog” Eisenberg

    Fun and silly
As a lifelong fan of Trek, DS9 was a wonderful addition to the franchise, and these guys are so awesome to give us fans this extra insight many years later! Keep it up!!
