YonlocAnnoyingSonny loves Sucker Punch

joepioneerNever miss an episodeI really enjoy this podcast. It’s the only movie review podcast I listen to regularly. The structure of having three film lovers with very different personal viewpoints, but common love of movies makes the discussions interesting and fun. Sonny, Alyssa, and Peter always bring thoughtful insights to the show. It’s a good time.

bluecinemaLet Alyssa speakThe amount of interrupting of and condescending towards Alyssa prevents me from keeping this in regular rotation. I usually get frustrated halfway through and turn it off.
-
Joe E GMegalopolisThanks for the in-depth review, I just saw the film myself & agree w/ Sonny although the other guests made good arguments. I’ll be listening to more of your works from now on.
-
Mr. YaleI love the showI very much appreciate that they maintain a regular schedule (not true of some of my other favorite podcasts). I do wish they’d spend less time on the “controversy or ‘nontroversy’” segment, particularly when the topic barely relates to film or TV. Also, it strikes me as odd that a show about movies calls the review portion the “main event” and not the “feature presentation.”

NotTheDroidsYou'reLookingForExcellent movie reviews! My favorite movie podcast. Even if I don’t always agree with their takes, I find all three of them to be very insightful and fun to listen to.

THF SeattleThe RazziesShowgirls was very bad but it was funny if you turned off your brain. No way should the Blair Witch project got a Razzie.
-
Harryschill25Excellent Oppenheimer reviewSonny is very accurate in his take downs of movies and Alyssa is incredibly smart and articulate. I liked the Oppenheimer review a lot, as Peter articulated what is great about the craft of the movie and Alyssa spoke about its’ emptiness. I would recommend to anyone who wants sharp opinions on the most recent releases.

I love CopenhagenTalk about what you know aboutWhen podcasters start flapping their tongues regarding subject matter they have no real knowledge about; it amounts to worthless hot air. The particular Across the Aisle podcast regarding the movie ‘The Menu’, is cringeworthy. When the woman (yes, the one who starts talking on all the podcasts in her incessant nasal grind and cannot stop—Elisa? Elizabeth?) starts weighing in on NOMA based on some claim of extensive knowledge on food —because she went to De Kas? Who cares. No. Just no. She has no real expertise or experience beyond a NYT article. What she fails to understand, likely because she has never been to Copenhagen and lacks any knowledge about Danish foraging culinary culture, is how truly incredible an experience is NOMA. By the way, NOMA has a greenhouse. You start your experience in said greenhouse. So salivating over Kas greenhouse experience sounds sort of stupid. NOMA uses rotating seasonal menus. Summer menu features only vegetarian and produce grown by chef. So her comment about making the staff make the same “beetle” over and over is just plain ignorant. And yes, NOMA is closing but it hasn’t closed yet. To avoid appearing vapid and ignorant , stick to what you know. And do your homework. Or just shut up.

Fr35797SonnyYou’re not owed a good movie (neither am I or anyone else). If you don’t like something about it you don’t have to pay. “The complaints don’t matter because the movie is good” isn’t a reason

H EccentrifugeSmart and funny movie reviews!Love this podcast (that I listen to on Bulwark+, lol)! All three hosts do a great job reviewing movies and shows, and so far, the movies they’ve strongly recommended, I also loved. Dunno about Tar, though, we’ll see if I see that one. I look forward to this podcast every week, and am very grateful to have a movie/show review podcast that I know I can trust!
-
wheedooMade it through three eps, woof.Condescending and smug, this podcast is hamstrung by one very entitled male host. Alyssa is great, deserving of her own podcast, just criminally overshadowed by the blowhard.
-
ThePorkchopExpress13My Favorite Movie Review PodcastI love the different perspectives expressed through friendship on this show. Rare and awesome.
-
NJ PeteBest move review podcast3 reviewers, 30 min. No pseudo-intellectual nonsense. Plus Sonny never had a bad tweet.
-
Harambe4PresidentI’m not even into movies, but I like this showNormally very entertaining and interesting, even if I haven’t seen the media they are talking about. Also, I love the Sonny’s voice. Very soothing.
-
AbsurdAlbertThoughtful & entertainingI enjoy the conversations about films, TV, and culture very much. Each of the three lends different perspectives and listening to them has enhanced my enjoyment of watching movies and TV. Peter and Sonny talk over each other and Alyssa a little too much, but the three have great chemistry, overall. Their most recent subscribers only pod about Netflix was great, as I think about which streaming service to add or cut on the regular.
-
PhaedrusOutThereI like it! Minor nitpick……is Alyssa constantly saying UMMM really loudly between thoughts. Other than that, enjoying it!
-
jp131313131313Has quickly become my favorite podcast on filmThere’s something about the clashing personalty types that makes the great chemistry between the three hosts really stand out. No matter what they say about the movies they watch, I’m always more interested in the movie than I was before I listened to the episode. Great podcast.

AlexaShruggedSurprising appreciation for AlyssaGreat combination of political perspectives. As a conservative woman, I appreciate Alyssa’s contribution more than I thought I would. She brings good, thoughtful nuance when I was expecting her to be more rote and pedantic. I think the perspective of a woman for many of the issues and movies they talk about is key and far too many podcasts involve only one sex. Even better, she’s not there as a “token” or to “represent” women, but holds her own seamlessly as an equal among the three. Also, Sonny is great as the host and provocateur and while Suderman is also a wonderful movie critic, he could afford lean into the libertarianism more in controversies and nontroversies.
-
IKnowATonTotally optionalI have listened to a few eppies, and it’s a bunch of fat dorks talking over each other. The first half (discussing the movie industry news) is better than the second half (movie reviewers reviewing movies). Sonny Bunch has the least range and drives his shtick into the ground, Peter Suderman makes the best jokes by not taking the podcast as seriously but isn’t as fun as he thinks he is, and Alyssa Rosenberg is angling for some sort of Pulitzer nod.
-
CMC reviewerA highlight of the weekUnique and interesting perspectives form a podcast that I eagerly anticipate.
-
D, in OaklandGot me excited about movies again!I stopped being a self-described cinephile years ago; the friends with whom I saw and discussed movies moved away, and my life got too busy to just see whatever. Then I found this podcast... It achieves exactly what I want from movie shows/‘casts: it brings me into their conversations and explores not only why good movies are good, but also why bad movies are bad and how they could be better. Love it!
-
tylrkdLove the conversations and the insight!Great topics! Love casual talk and the discussions on movies from each differing political perspective. Each person makes agreeable, well thought out points that I, even if I disagree with, can respect. Also, it’s just fun listening to people talk about stuff they’re passionate for!
-
Old Guy CrossfitLove the podcast but hate the....I guess this is me being a old grumpy Gus but her vocal fry drives me nuts! Great commentary though
-
pjprengerGreat listenLove the show
-
EBB007No Cancel Culture HereIn a hyper-polarized world in which everything is politicized, it’s such a treat to listen to a show that brings three people together, from different perspectives, to talk about culture in a smart way.
-
Robert Henry HoltzVery good more than fineBecome a catholic Sonny!!! Catholic!!!! Is Sonny a Catholic yet? Is Sonny a Catholic yet? Welcome back Sonny!
-
JakeVanksBetter Than Many, Many OthersThere are a lot of movie podcasts...too many. The three hosts on this show know what they are talking about so you should listen to them.
-
Rerun JamesYeeeessssssss! So glad this is back. I missed you folks.
-
DanC6891Pick up this show pleaseGreat show- more please.
-
JBR78Plosives!Great podcast but dear Lord please get some windscreens for the mics. The plosives are punching me in the face. Love the show though.
-
Benjammmin2Love itThis podcast is well organized and all hosts articulate their opinions well. The hosts review one new movie and one older “assigned viewing.” Couldn’t ask for a better movie podcast. I’ve found many hidden gems on the assigned viewing segment. Only thing I could ask for is theater releases to come out for them to review! Hang in there guys until theaters open up again, and there’s more to review.
-
midroaderWonderful, informative reviewersEach of the hosts draw from their differing viewpoints to give their earnest and honest perspectives on recent and older films. During times like these, it’s great to hear sensible, respectful discourse.
-
Luigi the reviewerTwo out three ain’t badGreat podcast, overall. Sonny Bunch and Peter Suderman are excellent - smart, articulate and knowledgeable about cinema history and the movie industry. Especially Bunch. The shows deal with the economics of moviemaking and a weekly review of a new (or old) movie. Alyssa Rosenberg is a far distant third. She doesn’t know the business. Her takes are exclusively about how a movie “feels” to her. No context, no perspective, just naval gazing. For example, regarding Extraction, an action shoot-‘em-up purposely filmed in an exotic, sweaty and smelly India and Bangladesh, her complaint is that it ”didn’t show us anything about a setting”. Worse, the movie doesn’t explain what products the rival drug lords sell. Rosenberg is the weak link.
-
Adam GoslinSupreme ConsistencySonny is always right. That’s the review
-
GrantggI give it 5 “fines”Finally, a podcast I can enjoy with my lib brother
-
Dylan Paul T.A loving criticismUnfortunately the trio doesn’t allow their respective ideologies to interfere with their appreciation of each film, so that’s lame. I want all the hot takes of Sonny the (correct) reactionary, Suderman the libertarian crank, and Alyssa the bleeding heart lib. Stop the moderation and dispassion! Thank you.
-
RenegadeMentat2/3 of a great podcastMy title says it all. I could listen to two of the people on this podcast all day. The third...well, I'm curious how someone gets to be a film critic when they know nothing about movies and haven't seen anything.
-
Sartorial SmittyExcellentAlways great to hear multiple intelligent and reasoned perspectives. That said...Sonny is always right.
-
@TracelatorAcross the aisle and across my heartI’m only sorry that once per week means movies will be sadly left out of their collective piercing gaze. Suderman has all the politesse that Sonny gleefully lacks and What to say about Alyssa? She’s my new favorite lib! The device of reviewing a related movie a week in advance is great. It’s all great.
-
jmaybeIt's time for someone else to be right for a change.Still waiting for it to happen... (and join rebellermedia.com)

JaredP32The Only Movie Podcast We NeedWhen Siskel and Ebert and the At the Movies TV show went away, they left a gaping hole in film criticism. For years, there was no place to hear intelligent, thoughtful, yet accessible conversations about movies. Across the Movie Aisle finally picks up where they left off. Quality conversations about movies, balanced, smart, and entertaining. May this podcast go on for decades!
-
mz792It's FineOne of these podcasters is always right ;)

letstrHate your Chav King Arthur take from last week’s reviewWould have taken off a star from this review but everyone is allowed to be wrong once. CKA is such a guilty pleasure
-
BriefingBookAcross the Aisle and Rebeller Media—Perfect TogetherI love the “Controversies or Nontroversies” segment of Across the Aisle. Always smart and thought provoking film industry commentary. And Rebeller Media is a deal! The Greg Ferrara segment on Pale Rider got me to re-watch my Blu-ray edition of Pale Rider and the movie is indeed an under-rated classic. See you at the movies!!
-
DavikMolsIt’s a controversy this podcast doesn’t have more reviews!Quickly has become one of my favorite pop culture podcasts. The hosts (including the libertarian) each have interesting view points on film and society, causing each episode to breeze by quickly. I cannot wait for when Sonny gives out Sucker Punch as assigned viewing—the only opinion on which Mr. Bunch is wrong.
-
A.J. AlbrightSonny Is Always Right...But I still side with Alyssa and Peter because I prefer to be wrong. This is a great podcast that engages with film from multiple perspectives and makes for an enlightening discussion. The true testament to greatness is that not even terrible opinions that Zach Synder or The Watchmen movie are actually good turns me off from this fine podcast. Give it a listen folks!
-
gideonluckInteresting and thoughtful movie reviewsAnd a lots more Sonny Bunch to keep me entertained on my longer commute
-
WSnotwasSonny ... meh. Peter and Alyssa ... Yay!To be honest, there’s enough Sonny in the podcast world, but this podcast brings us Peter Suderman and Alyssa Rosenberg! The three have a great dynamic, interesting and different perspectives, and are enjoyable to listen to. Highly recommend!

ZigZach331Brief but importantThis is a review purely to reach 100 reviews. Also, this podcast is good. Listen to it!
