Has consistency been one of the most thoughtful, interesting and hilariously entertaining podcasts going - it’s interesting how they often get at some big truths by tackling obscure stories - great show

Smart and hilarious, if you’re the kind of person who finds it acceptable to make fun of a church service (and the small child who sings badly in it). Katie and Jesse vacillate between items of true current importance and inane happenings on the internet. It’s the only podcast I pay for and I listen to every episode. Thank you Katie and Jesse!

Jessie and Katie have great chemistry and cover interesting stories that are (usually) ignored by the mainstream press. I laugh every time and sometimes cringe. Recommend paying for the promo subscription.

I used to subscribe and enjoy but the pod had gone downhill and I just started to find Jesse really annoying

The podcast is really gone downhill over the years I'm not sure if it's because they were one trick pony that only really focused on a certain genre or if it's because the hosts are getting lazy. But the content has really been suffering and then they have added in this very convoluted premium episode system that is completely frustrating I honestly have just unsubscribed because of the stupid premium episode cutoffs

I used to enjoy this podcast, but even with Katie as the voice of reason and reining in Jesse to some degree, it’s kind of jumped the shark. Plus, most episodes are behind a paywall anymore. And every time I go on Twitter, I’m an annoyed Jesse, but lately also by Katie. I also dislike the pronoun game with trans people “to be nice”. I guess my tastes have changed. I still think some of the early episodes are pretty fun.

Love you guys. I’m impressed with your culture. And love your interactions. Very old world and Jewish.

The latest episode about the gang rapes in England, while informative and fair, there were just too many jokes. Sorry Katie I know you weren’t there for it.

Katie has a moose named Dog. Jesse can’t pronounce his glottal stops correctly and could use some meat in his diet.

I feel bad one starring this due to a single episode that doesn’t even include Katie… but this last one made me angry. Making light of the UK topic and referring to it as “well covered” is just bad.

I keep coming back to listen about things I don’t think I care about, but do. The Sam and Diane between Katie and Jessie is always one episode away from consummating a beautiful relationship.

Like I said in the title. This is just one in a long list of pods that are just paywalled to death.

This podcast is routinely hilarious and much needed centrist sanity in a polarized world. Episodes are never better than when Helen Lewis joins, though.

I used to enjoy the pod, and found Katie and Jesse to be interesting and insightful. Unfortunately, lately their research has been lazy, and the frequently default to opinions or ideas unrelated to the topic being discussed. The last few episodes have been filled with reluctant acknowledgments that they haven’t actually personally looked into something they are discussing, or Jesse saying something like “the research didn’t directly say this…but..” if you haven’t been a regular listener it’s probably not worth starting now.

Been listening since the beginning and they helped me realize that there are sane people out there who share my same values. I felt lost, swimming in a sea of friends who were stuck inside their bubble. Katie and Jesse are voices of reason, who are both old school journalists that provide balanced and well researched stories. Love them and highly recommend this podcast.

Great show for those who like a heterodox viewpoint on issues of the day. Karie and Jesse take fact finding seriously and are not swayed by group-think or agenda-driven journalism. They also bring just the right amount of petty bickering to their discussions for some comic relief.

Most fun and informative podcast out there—have been listening since COVID. Energy of the banter has gotten better and better over the years.

I used to love this podcast, so much that I subscribed to it. Unfortunately, the extra episodes that I got with the subscription turned out to be subpar and so I cancelled and went back to listening to the weekly. Now they are hiding part of that - not the mindless majority but once it finally gets interesting - behind a paywall. Did they announce they were changing to this format? Too bad instead of making the subscription worth it instead they chose this. That’s an unfollow for me.

At its best, BAR pod is a funny, irrelevant, and nuanced. It approaches hot topics with rational skepticism, curiosity, and a willingness to go where others will not. Jessie and Katie catalog pathological institutions and ideologies. Some of my favorites include the American Bully XL, Keffles Saga, Jacob Lake reporting, Facilitating Communication, and Jessie’s rigorous reporting on transgender care. I sometimes think this podcast focuses on the “twitter dumbs” to the exclusion of stories of true institutional capture or areas where these pathologies effect the broader society. I would suggest you expand the number of topics you apply this formula to: what are the possibility regressive effects of ban the box inituitives? What do we actually know about diversity trainings and their effects? What is the actual science of supporting/refuting fat activism / polyamory etc.

Two highly intelligent and professional journalists dig far and deep into places I wouldn’t want to and make it fun for all of us the dumpster fire that our society is right now. Despite their haters best attempts, these two preserver and keep going. Support them with your reviews and subscriptions. They will not be silenced!

The Jerry Springer of internet drama! Two twitted addicted and cringeworthy rascals express their own sense of self importance by producing the best - and only - podcast. They are at once too woke (Katie), too racist (somehow also Katie), and altogether so unfathomably based that 5 stars isn’t enough for this highly regarded fan. Katie seems to intentionally provoke people in a way that rebounds on her for no good reason. Instead of deleting comment using n word she justifies it. As if to sabotage the podcast. I’m done.

My favorite podcast. I literally never miss an episode. Such a refreshing point of view! I admire Jesse and Katie for going against the grain, pursuing hard truths, and for being charming and funny while doing it. Keep up the good work, because in todays media environment we need pragmatic perspectives like this

I’m a born-again Christian Libertarian who can keep a personal separation of faith and politics. I don’t joke like Katie and Jesse but this podcast is righteous at heart. These are voices that I’m glad to see thrive as court jesters of our broken world.

Going after victims of sexual assault, and spreading misinformation about trans individuals? No thank you. Blocking and reporting.

Please for the love of god stop the 10-15 minute filler in the beginning of every single episode. I think this podcast is extremely important and want to support it but I cannot when I feel like my time is being wasted with meaningless small talk about unrelated things and also talking about how substack works and merch or lack thereof. Please.

Oak Parker here. Cool Oak Parkers love this show. I love how the Muslim and the Jew get along so well. Some tension, sure, but they can agreeably disagree. So rare!

Pound for pound the most entertaining podcast I listen to. When I see it in my feed among other podcasts, I’ll listen first. Still, their political views are slightly too right-wing for my liking (especially Katie), and sometimes I think they go a bit too far with the jokes. Also, Jesse has a tendency to overreact to criticism and people he doesn’t like.

Jessie and Katie feel like those very smart, funny, and, most importantly, fearless friends who breathe sanity into whatever debate they enter. One of the most entertaining, engaging, and enlightening podcasts out there.

As a Gen X right leaning individual I am sometimes embarrassed by how much I enjoy this podcast and that I pay to subscribe. Even when I don’t agree at all in their assessment I appreciate hearing their viewpoints and enjoy their banter and guest hosts.

I live in Oak Park and someone suggested the recent episode so I listened. I’ve now lost respect for that someone. If you dig people who think they AREN’T racist and think they ARE funny but are wrong about both, this is the podcast for you. I wish cancel culture existed so someone could put these two out of their self-absorbed misery.
