Bloxk5min ideas embellished to make 45min podcastsThis podcast has been a good source of information and ideas concerning irregular warfare, but the last several guests have offered very little concrete practical recommendations and instead fall back on purely academic or theoretical scripts. It’s frustrating because you get 3/4 through a podcast and realize you could have gotten the same points from skimming an article in 5min versus wasting 45min. This is especially evident in the latest episode “plausible deniability and proxies”. Disappointing and a waste of valuable time.

AmdyfynCare change?!!!Overall sed yo love this podcast but after this climate change episode I’m done!
-
GfccjciclclclcGreat and InformativeAnd most importantly, accurate! Speculation is a huge aspect of irregular warfare but from everything I’ve seen with my own 2 eyes, these talks are the highest quality of information you will come across. Find any subject in here and have a listen. You won’t be disappointed

hundreds of listensSeventh. Great work.To answer your question, yes. There is a “Division” of digital Aaron Keeners and Tobin Frosts ready to play Theo Parnell for the cause looking forward to a target rich environment.
-
SocialScientistofWarEssential listeningLOVE this podcast! I walk away from each episode with several new research ideas and more insight into how practitioners think about irregular warfare. I’ve assigned episodes on my course syllabi and they’re always a big hit with the students.

spintrongalaxyOne of the BestThis podcast is straightforward. The guests are knowledgeable and thoughtful. The presentation is without extraneous nonsense. And the topics are important to understand the world we live in now, and what are the various scenarios for the future. Should be required listening by every government official as well as in schools.
-
bay650Informative but political leanings are becoming more apparentVery informative but over the last 6 months or so the guests have exhibited very left leaning political bias and narratives that detract from their the objective nature of the topics.
-
Scotty Baby 929Honest Informed DiscussionThis is a great place for learning about stuff that you thought you might have known about. The content focus is on what can we learn now that we should know, but might not, or have previously considered but misunderstood. This show is an excellent vehicle for anyone interested in the future world that will inevitably involve international conflict that is, despite our best intentions, be filled with surprises that are by definition, outside of our current imagination.

dennis.karpfDennis KarpfUnusual and refreshing combination of analysis and conversations. Somber and judicious, yet incisive and nuanced. Seeking truth in domestic and international war strategy without fear of following ideological narratives is commended.

Jackson ThorntonBroaden the ApertureBeen listening since the beginning of the podcast and as much as I love the show, I had to bring up the myopic focus in the security cooperation. In an almost hour long show about the security cooperation enterprise the role of the State Department was a only mentioned twice, once about Secretary Blinken and the other about Defense Attachés. Maybe have a companion episode with experts from State’s PM Bureau or even DSCA about the foreign policy work that goes into the Title 22 security cooperation programs you referenced in the latest episode. Again, love the show, but irregular (political) warfare doesn’t just live in the Pentagon.

Chris KevorkianAfghanistanVery disappointed that there was NOT one mention of Doha Agreement. Afghanistan could never have been won. Corruption. Tribal politics. Try to be objective when discussing the fall of the country last year. Carter’s thoughts were interesting. It’s amazing to me how many military history books our officers read at Leavenworth and Carlyle and Newport. They could just have read Bright Shining Lie by Sheehan; we forgot all the lessons from Vietnam in Afghanistan. Waste of lives and trillions of dollars. We never learn our lessons.

mike_tangoOutstanding. Free grad school/professional military education.I can’t say enough about how valuable this podcast is. I would call it a free, ongoing graduate-level course (or professional military education course), featuring the leading minds and practitioners in the field. Modern War Institute is achieving its mission of bringing academia and the practicing national security community together for everyone’s shared education and benefit.
-
Matt H94Great great great relevanceTopics are very relevant to national security. I would like to hear about technologies around the world. Love the series.

Poseidon0311Trash: Pushing a liberal agendaI could barely get through one episode before they started pushing the “far-right” extremism narrative without ever mentioning the destruction and chaos that was caused by FAR-LEFT extremism resulting in millions of dollars worth of damage and dozens of lives in recent years. Don’t waste your precious time listening to these idiots.

LCMM2007Fantastic podcast—topics, hosts, guests.Currently my favorite podcast. Always learn something new. They have a great variety of topics and guests and the hosts do a fantastic job of asking the right (but tough!) questions. With so many podcasts out there and limited time, the IW podcast is my favorite because the guests are top-notch and I like the way they usually pair a senior practitioner with an academic, which provides different perspectives and nuance to the discussion.

50H40Why should we listen to you?Why should we listen to you when you have been wrong about everything for the past 30 years? All these types of podcasts say the same thing about building alliances, deploy all over the world etc. but we have been doing that for decades and we are worse off today than we were in the 90’s. This is the same old song but you people never get anything right. Why don’t you try something different bc what you have been doing is not working.

levysaGreat podcastTop notch analysis, personable hosts, the best podcast to listen to for serious, accessible discussion of irregular warfare—proxy wars, counterinsurgency, influence operations etc. Highly recommended for anyone interested in foreign policy, the US military, or how competition with China is likely to unfold

NmnmnmnmnmmnmnmnmnmnGreat show. What about cyber? This is a fantastic podcast and really shows how effective non-conventional efforts can be. One thing that has not been talked about, or at least I can’t find it, is about nation states or APTs using malware to achieve desired outcomes without any kinetic attacks. Malware is definitely an irregular warfare tactic that is being used every day by nation states.
-
Big Homie HeraldFantastic!Amazing analysis.
-

MarekNATop-notch!Phenomenal review and insight into the IW community. The topics and real-world applications make this an invaluable pro-dev tool for, both, operators and enablers within the community.
-
Nuclear FirecrackerGreat Guest Speakers & HostingOutstanding IW analysis and insights. Only critique would be longer shows. However, I understand the need to balance time and the level detail.

Fun game gfdghjAccessible and InformativeThe Irregular Warfare Podcast does a great job introducing and explaining tactical, operational, and strategic security concepts. As a SOF professional, I found the material relevant, interesting, and accessible. I look forward to the next episode, perhaps we could see a debate-model...
-
MichaelP776Great broad topic explanationI found it to be very intriguing especially with how strategy and policy was linked together and how non DoD assets were linked in with irregular warfare. It was also interesting in how the discussion of shortcomings on the political level were started in 2007 instead of addressing the issues from 2002-2006, however those issues may have been much too great to discuss in the first episode. Overall I am looking forwards to the next episode of the series.
-
alynn36Irregular Warfare PodcastAs an Active Duty service member, this podcast will be invaluable. It’s an excellent venue to intellectually inform and communicate irregular warfare concepts to service members and policymakers.
-
Andyandy1233Great podcast! As someone who is not too familiar in the military world, but is very interested, this podcast was great in explaining issues in digestible terms. I will definitely be looking out for future podcasts and listen in. Loved it!
-
armyloves2readGreat project, will subscribeGreat concept. I am active duty SOF and this is a great tool to keep me up on writing and research about irregular warfare.
-
JayhawkPilotGreat analysis of irregular warfarePhenomenal inaugural episode. Quickly dives into the nuanced issues of small wars both in history and current conflicts, and systematically examines both the theoretical analysis as well as the importance of both tactical and strategic policy choices.
