I have mixed feelings about this podcast . More commercial breaks than podcast substance . Guests are good but host is annoying … repeats herself and appears to be pretty negative in a “ mean girl “ way. I’m a progressive but this feels like alot of whining.

I love Jos reporting and she’s got great takes, but the episode on Facebook talking about about youth safety is complete propaganda… and the fact that she can’t see this seriously makes me question her journalistic abilities. Meta is not gonna let someone come and talk openly, and the things they are doing to “protect kids” is not different from the way. The Wright is trying to “protect the children “from drag queens . and while I applaud Joe’s discussion of the minor harms of social media in this particular political climate when they are banning social media apps and taking away true free speech harping on the harms social media may cause kids is a moot point because a life without free speech and basic human rights is far worse than any other social harms.

I would give 5 stars if there weren’t so many ads.

I have been loving this podcast. Reading some of the other reviews, I am laughing at the calls of “judgemental” and “opinions nothing else”. I find Jo Piazza and her guests to be very open and compassionate and there are facts, and yes, opinions, but since a lot of the opinions expressed are in concordance with mine, it doesn’t rub me the wrong way. I sometimes listen to podcasts or read content that I do not agree with, so I get that irritation, but UTI offers information and often just lets it fall as the listener will take it. So I am going with 5 stars*****!

I’ve been listening to podcasts for many years and have never felt compelled to leave a review until today. So many of these episodes are the host and her guests whining about how other women make them feel bad about themselves. They then proceed to point the finger at others for their own feelings. You have control over what you consume, a privelaged woman such as the host has control over her day-to-day choices. If you feel bad tune it out or do something about it. The victim mentality is gross. There are real victims out there girl…

1st season was good. Jo is just another privileged woman who thinks shes smarter than you and needs to save you. This podcast and everything “Jo” is just an echo chamber with less and less research and increasing opinions. Just an overall hypocrite. You’ll see it if you’ve stuck around enough. Also, please stop calling yourself a witch. Mind your own family and stop trying to cope so hard about people doing or thinking differently from you. You are not right about everything

New rating. Journalist Jo.. Novelist Jo.. Breadwinner Jo.. Feminist Jo.. All the Jo’s add up to self promotion and a coven of women who self promote while squashing other women out. She acts as if she’s discovered new things when women older than her have already lived them. I forgot—ageist Jo who excludes older women and blocks them when she does not like their commentary. This podcast is good to listen to when you want background noise or leave the room frequently. What a shame and what potential. Just another brick in the wall.

Where’s the actual discussion on influencing and creators and not just personal judgement? Not interested in listening to Jo and her friend go off on people they don’t like and have different views.

I am really enjoying this podcast. As a researcher and someone who consumes and teaches a lot about social media, Jo is giving me lots of great discussion topics for the classroom.

I have been following along now for almost as long as this pod has been out, mainly because this content is so fascinating and lots of great guests have been featured. This latest episode with Jo and her husband was my favorite by far as the conversation flowed so much more naturally and both temper each other so well. I think this is the first time I ever heard the host joke around and laugh without making the punchline “ because we’re all hot mess moms”. Again, I feel like the topics are smartly selected and look forward to more episodes, hopefully with the two of you hosting.

Jo is the podcast host you’d love to continue the conversation with over coffee (or wine) and hear about all the tidbits that didn’t make the final edit.

Most recent episode of the reality of #FarmLife has me screaming “YES! Yes! Yes!” And punching the rafters. As a #WomanWinemaker who lives in wine country, but not the #winecountrylife, I feel this SO hard. I own and farm my own vineyard. While I am definitely a privileged, white, cis-gender woman with some financial support, I am not rich and farming isn’t even my primary source of income right now! I work two other jobs to pay the bills so I can farm. And it’s dirty, sweaty, smelly, and uncomfortable, but I love it with my whole soul and I will keep working my other jobs for those sacred moments on the tractor seat when I feel alive.

I’ve given Jo Pizza a few chances on several occasions over the past 6 or so years. The content is always interesting, but the verbal repetition is so grating and always causes me to dip out. Examples: “I will go to the grocery store this weekend. I WILLLL…” “My kids are my life. They are. They’re my life. My LIIIFE.”

I have learned so much about different issues on this show. Fascinating show and always interesting. Jo seems to try to give both sides of a story. She has had a trad wife speak along with those who have a differing point of view. My only issue is when her guest on the Katy Sorinson episode used the name Karen in a derogatory way. As a Karen I am so tired of this. Please encourage your guests to use real names and not use the name Karen in a derogatory way. Thanks!! Love the podcast!!

I’ve listened since the podcast launched, and I think it had/has a lot going for it, but a lot of times I feel like the tone is off. I think it often has a very privileged air that is personally not relatable. I also just can’t take the CONSTANT Sicilian Inheritance pushing. It’s like every guest is pressured into promoting it too? If anything has ever convinced me to not buy a book, it is this campaign. Sadly I think I’ll unsubscribe.

Love listening but, given the content of the show, it’s surprising to me that Jo so often refers to herself as an old lady. I’m in my mid thirties, and just don’t think it’s necessary or helpful. Like in the latest episode — 30 year old butt vs 40 year old old lady butt? We don’t need this. You can be sexy and attractive at any age. Thanks for considering, and hope you can be kinder to yourself!

I started this podcast in season 2 and have been put off at how the host and her guests put down women who choose to live their lives and raise their kids differently than themselves. They mention “my body, my choice”, then try to shame and judge those who choose to do life differently. (And also seem to have a lot of opinions without a lot of facts). Disappointing.

I very much enjoy listening to Jo’s Podcast, it’s given me a lot to think about regarding social media and what I consume. This show is so entertaining to me and I can’t stop talking about it to friends! She says a lot of what I’m thinking when I see some of the pages I see on instagram and I feel validated.

I love all of Jo Piazza’s podcasts! I love her honest and authentic take on topics. I really appreciate that she is open to talking and learning from people who have different perspectives. It’s done in a refreshing and sincere way where the audience learns along too.

Very thought provoking

I just discovered this podcast and I’m obsessed with it! Love love love it! Also starting to listen to Too much money and love it to. It makes you want to hang out with you Jo with a big cheese plate (and as a French woman I know my cheeses trust me🤪).

I enjoyed this podcast. And I really appreciated the recent sobriety episode - until you guys started talking about “sugar addiction”. Which shows how poorly researched this show is. It is a common and dangerous myth that there is such thing as sugar addiction, which perpetuates diet culture. And anyone who’s done any meaningful research into the subject will know that. A recent guest on this exact show Virginia Sole-Smith has spoken quite a lot on the subject.

I personally got bored with a lot of the episodes this season. Trad wife, cancer influencers, and finance eps were really good! Most of the eps feel like a lot of the same. Not content related but the theme/intro music is SO grating.

I really enjoy the topics on this podcast and it has given my husband and I a lot of great things to talk about! Some of the episodes have come across as incredibly well-researched and informative, but many of the episodes in season 2 deal with tradwives and SAHM content, and despite the fact that Jo swears up and down she has no judgment for women who stay at home or fill more traditional gender roles, her content comes across as very judgmental. I think there’s a certain amount of self-awareness that is lacking in many of these episodes of how her own insecurities and biases (which is totally normal and happens for all of us!) affect the way she delivers some of her content and opinions. I think she tries really hard to come across as unbiased and non-judgmental about choices that differ from hers, but honestly I would respect her takes a lot more if she could just own that her opinions are in fact judgments of how some women do things differently than she does.

Season 1 was better and seemed more researched and thought out. Season 2 seemed like it had more promise with being able to branch out without a studio behind it, but it really fell flat. Most episodes in season 2 felt like a great draft or the start of a great idea but lacked follow through or a conclusion. I didn't mind that season 2 was slightly more snarky or judgmental and felt like it was appropriate for some of the episodes.

I listened to a few episodes here and there. I started because I was sick of being influenced on social media all the time but have hard time quitting. I can relate to a lot of things that was discussed. More recently I took a break from true crime podcasts and came back to this podcast, and found the parenting/mom shaming episodes. I enjoyed listening to the conversation between Jo and her guests. I think it helped me with my mental health especially I am on a brink of losing it. Now that I realized I’m comparing myself to those “perfect moms” on social media, and having the unrealistic expectation for myself is not healthy at all. I’m working on letting it go and reminding myself that I’m doing my best. So thank you Jo and keep doing the great work! I appreciate you.

This season is so hard to listen to. Jo states an opinion or a description of what she’s going to talk about and then repeats it in slightly different ways for an excruciatingly long time. It also feels like there’s very little research and almost no perspective to offer this season. It’s lukewarm and even when it’s judgmental it still feels somehow middle of the road without landing on either a data point or a strong, informed opinion. I was disappointed because the episode topics are things I’m interested in and then there is just zero substance. Jo mentions being “like Maintenance Phase” at one point. I wish she would research, present, and edit anywhere close to the level of that podcast.

I’m reviewing solely on season 1. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of things I didn’t know and reaffirmed some things I did. I’m taking away a star though because the show very responsibly addressed the issues of putting children on the internet, consent, commodifying your family etc. even Jo had to take a break. But then in the episode where she got all fired up after talking about unionizing it’s like Jo completely forgot about the ethical issues surrounding how these influencers use their kids. I was waiting for her to include that in the reasons she chose not to become a mom influencer but she only mentioned wanting to separate work and family. So disappointing. I’m personally very concerned about how much kids are put out for public consumption and how their lives are impacted. These kids are free labor and they are too young to give meaningful consent. I also felt like Jo too quickly rationalized problematic guests and gave them passes. As if she was afraid to upset them or risk people not wanting to come on her show. Especially the one who essentially said don’t look at the bashing if you can’t handle it and these women are fair game. So glad her friend at least called it out. All in all I enjoyed it but I can’t get behind completely sweeping the ethical issues around kids under the rug.

I am a thirty-somethin’ mother of two children under 5. I am also an avid podcast listener, mostly true crime 🫠. After finding the first season and binging it, I never miss an episode of this fantastic podcast. Jo feels like a friend. Her guests are insightful and empowering to me as a mother and woman. This podcast is the one I recommend to all my mom friends.

Loved season 1 but I can’t stick with this anymore. The episodes are so judgmental and full of commentary that seems to help the host feel better about her own parenting choices. I’ve had to turn several episodes off in a row because of how cringey it was. I might come back later and check in to see how things are going but I’ll be taking this off my weekly listen list.

Jo is smart, fun and entertaining. I love listening and she has enlightened me about many dark corners of the internet, for better or worse! It’s a treat to listen.

I got hooked on the first season about mommy blogging, and this podcast continues to be both informative and pop culture fun!

Jo is great and this is so well researched, insightful, thought provoking, and often funny amidst occasional horror stories. I’ve learned so much and yet not in an overwhelming or depressing way. I feel like I’m in the room with her, maybe over a cup of coffee or glass of wine while the kids are playing elsewhere or we’re on a break from work. This is a must listen for me every week!

Love the women she has on her podcast, and love the lens used to look at the issues. It always starts with differences and then layers in similarities. I am grateful for this type of writing and the bigger themes it shows.

Loved your first season Jo! But this new season is lacking in substance. After listening to the Soft Girl and Trad Wife episodes, the talk feels very judgmental and generalized. It lacks research and is filled with personal opinions, which gives a hint of narcissism. You’re talented just prepare better :) The soft girl Ep: a lot of the issues discussed stem from the US society and norms.. it’s still very hard to make money here to allow support of children. It’s not just women don’t want to work or only look at a man for financial help. It’s hard out there!

Consider putting a lid on the condescending tone and the political generalizations. So funny listening to you and guest trying to weave in the anti-Trump stuff into the trad wives episodes……it’s actually laughable. Then again, you could make it fair game since we are still waiting for the leftist, vegan, organic, everything is a toxic chemical, anti-vax, mom influencer episode 😂 There also seems to be much more narcissism…..is that a function of age, political affiliation or being influenced? Dunno, but that’s grating on the nerves. So two stars for a sometimes tolerable, yet mostly annoyingly predictable pod experience.

Always such interesting guests and i love how Jo breaks it all down. On my regular rotation.

Jo feels like friend. Diving into this has been fascinating. Truly great work and at times uncomfortable to unwrap certain topics, but overall one i recommend to all fellow fems.

I loved this podcast. I put the day of women off the internet on my calendar. I gobbled up every episode. And then… what happened? It became the Jo show and the rallying cry to galvanize women was forgotten. And now with the latest season it’s dreadful. No editing, terrible audio, heading doors open and husbands pop in and long pregnant pauses and just opinion without the old season of research. A decent mic, Garage Band, and reining in the snark and filling with facts will bring this podcast back to its former glory.

More influencer deep dives please!

The first season is both fun and thought-provoking. We all know influencers aren't as they appear but the first season really exposes all of the insane hypocrisy. The second season is a little redundant and condescending. And the third season is the same so far.

I stumbled upon this podcast, but it could not have come across my radar at a more perfect time. I love Jo’s whip-smart reporting, and way of connecting so many dots. I arrived at this series well after it had first been posted, but it still feels important and groundbreaking. Brilliant and accessible, relevant and compelling.
