I love Jenny and Joanna!! They both have amazing ways to talk about interesting topics, stories, and intricacies of what it means to be hyphenated. I’m a Colombian American 25yr old woman who lives in south Florida so I relate so much to their stories and I feel like they’re my friends when I listen to the podcast. I’ve listened to all the episodes probably 3 times each because I miss them so much. I know they said they were taking a break but I NEED JENNY AND JOANNA BACK!! They were with me on my commute to my very toxic job at the time and they were the comic relief I needed to take on my day. I hope they can make their return soon so I can hear more of their stories

Every week I look forward to the hilarious episode from this podcast. Jenny and Joanna make their topics so relatable! They are both down to earth, open, and honest. As a Venezuelan American I love listening to them speak in Spanglish (*normalizing hearing Spanglish is another topic I could go on about for forever) and talk about Latin culture. :)

I’ve been looking for ways to practice my Spanish skills and this podcast is awesome because of the Spanglish. I love learning about different aspects of Hispanic culture from a hyphenated perspective. These ladies never fail to make me laugh!

Having lived in the hyphen for all of my life, this podcast is so refreshing. Love listening to both of the host speak on topics that are unique to niche hyphens in society. Hello, I love hearing about you and your experiences. It may me laugh and think. And I’m loving the Princess of South Beach too. On Episode 46, love what Johanna said about the nostalgia la diáspora feels and how we miss a geographical place and a moment in time. I’m from Puerto Rico so I have had the privilege to visit several times since I left. Even after a few years is different. Sometimes it’s hard to understand that, that la patria que dejaste es viva, las cosas siguen cambiando. Así que cuando pensamos en la patria y hasta cuando pensamos en cómo apoyarla tenemos que pensar en cómo es la patria hoy y no como la dejamos. Ojalá ambas algún día puedan visitar Venezuela y Cuba sin miedo a repercusiones.

living in the hyphen means you drive the bilingual struggle bus (guagua, bus, o el omni 🤣). I remember realizing Farm Store was named as such when I learned to read and said out loud “Mami! Esto no se llama La Vaquita, esto es el Farm Store” her response “ay Tata, es que decirle La Vaquita es más fácil” 🤣🤣🤣

Ana said it best in another review. I loved this podcast at the start it was so excited to see where it would go. It quickly became clear that rather than expanding the exploration of the hyphen to people who are actually marginalized by living at the intersection different identities, we are just listening to the “struggle” of white privileged latinas who refuse to accept that “taking up space” also applies to them. This would be a great show if they made an effort to get non white straight privileged ppl on to talk about their own experiences rather than just giving their hot white liberal take on other peoples experiences. Being white Latina comedians who think they're always right about everything without needing to hear and learn from other people isn’t actually a great look.

I love both of these women separately. And to have them TOGETHER in a podcast and listen to them speak is a joy that I didn’t even know I needed. As a Mexican-American I’m sorry but everything has to be spicy o no tiene sabor and it is so fun to hear other hyphenated Latinas talk about their own struggles and frustrations that we all experience. New favorite podcast! My little chicana soul is so happy. Update 27 episodes later You really shouldn’t meet your idols. Lol I was really excited about this podcast after episode 1. But listening to it after all this time it’s really hard not to see them as problematic, highly, HIGHLY privileged, thin, white, latinas (in that order). And that wouldn’t even be my main issue with them if they owned it, acknowledged it AND made space for those Latinx women of color who are not heard. But they don’t and they try really hard to equate their struggles to that of people who actually are suffering and don’t fully recognize their privilege in every sense of the world. At the end of the day they’re both white women who have had to market their appearances as their brand to be successful. Yes they have their issues like the rest of us but they speak on topics that they literally have benefited from their entire lives - racism/colorism, body type, etc and don’t use their platform for anything beneficial. It just really, REALLY opened my eyes to how skewed the US millennial/gen z representation is to White latinxs from mitu/buzzfeed Latino etc. With the exception of the literal 2 Dominicans they share. Tldr; if you like them as comedians and who they are from their previous work, don’t listen to this podcast.

These two women are intelligent, funny, & completely entertaining. As a Colombian-American, I relate to their feelings of wavering in the middle of two worlds/cultures. I also appreciate how they share their vulnerabilities with a refreshing amount of honesty. This podcast is truly a gem.

I am a Nicaraguan/American/english girl that has been the gringa when I visited and lived in Nicaragua just because my dad is white as bread but then my mom is morenita/native to Nicaragua, but then my last name is Jackman.. basically I’m not nica enough or American enough. and i constantly feel so lost with identity especially now since I moved from Miami(where i was born and raised) to Raleigh, North Carolina 🤠 this podcast brings me a sense of relief that I am not the only one out there feeling this way! I love listening to this show. It reminds me of growing up in Orlando Florida & going to escuela with muy Puerto Rican (and many more nationalities) friends. Listening to these 2 is hilarious & also hearing Spanglish reminds me of my middle & high school days.

These ladies know their stuff and did not come to play. They are authentic, fair and well-informed in their views and reports. I feel like I’m checking in on my sisters every week. Coming from a cuban-american-venezolana-sifrina-patasucia.. i just have to say that I feel seen and so will you!

This is, hands down, my favorite podcast right now! I just discovered it yesterday and have already listened to 10 episodes. Jenny and Joanna touch on aspects of my own story and identity that I have often felt out of touch with. I feel more connected to my culture and sense so belonging the more I listen to these episodes. Listening has not only been cathartic and even healing but also has been super entertaining. Their humor, sincerity, vulnerability and authenticity makes this podcast the best!

Hyphen-ated has become one of my favorite podcasts. Both anchors are amazing, the topics they choose are interesting and most important are well documented. Their comments are smart but funny. Great content and great work!

I feel so connected to this podcast because you talk about identity the way that I have been experiencing it too. I was born in New York to Honduran parents, then raised in honduras since the age of 1 and then loved to Miami at age 12. So I’m a mezcla de todo. And now to top it off I’m in France living an adventure with my kids and my Cuban husband learning French and trying to incorporate myself in this tough culture. So now I really don’t know who I am and my lenguas are all intermingled - Español, English and Français. Thank you for creating this space.

I’ve followed both Joanna and Jenny for a while and I’m so thrilled they decided to join forces and launch this podcast. Every topic is so relatable. Like Joanna, my family immigrated from Europe to South America and I have lived everything she has mentioned in the podcast. Jenny is from Miami, where I spent most of my adulthood life. Her stories are so real and funny. I cried in the episode when you talked about the Abuelitos. I love, love, love your podcast!!

This is such a funny and relatable podcast! I love listening to Joanna and Jenny talk about the funny or serious topics in Latino culture in America. I look forward to this every week! They both share such unique experiences and perspectives that are specific to them yet super relatable and it’s so nice to hear their stories and feel represented and see that there are others who feel this way as mixed or hyphenated Latin American people. Talking about identity isn’t so easy but the fact that they stay true to themselves is what matters because even if it’s not how everyone lives out their identity there are many things in common that can make us feel united as a community.

The conversation on identity policing was so good. As someone who was never Cuban enough for people, I can really relate to how we see ourselves.

I’ve been watching you two for years on YouTube and I’ve been secretly hoping you two would do a video together. When I saw one day that one of you liked the other’s video, I was like omg it’s happening! And now here you are with this podcast. I freaking love it!!!
