Not just the greatest Zelda podcast, but one of the greatest podcasts in general!
Thank you Lyndon and Matt for creating such a great show. Your knowledge and insight is balanced well by your humor and banter. I’ve been a long time gamer but somehow didn’t get into Zelda until this past year and your show has made it easy to get through the entire series. I am excited that you’re now covering Majora’s Mask because it’s easily my favorite in the series. Also I got your back Lyndon, I personally prefer the 3DS versions of OOT and Majoras Mask. I have recently played both N64 and 3DS versions and I don’t have any nostalgia for either. So take that with a grain of salt. I think the graphical enhancements and the quality of life improvements make it a no brainer. Thank you both again for bringing a couple hours of joy to people every week and… “May the way of the hero lead you to the triforce.” - Andrew B

    Such a great podcast
I love this podcast so much! I am currently listening to link to the past episode 11 because I discovered this podcast two years late. Thank you for such a great podcast .

    Perfect in Every Way
Lyndon and Matt do a fantastic job breaking down the Zelda series into manageable sections that are easy to follow and enjoy. I have recently been attempting to 100% each Zelda game, and this is an ideal format for summing up each section of game. The relationship between the two main hosts (as well as Jackson sometimes) reminds me a lot of the relationship among myself and my two brothers. I find myself feeling appreciative of the effort put into production of the podcast as well as respectful jealousy that Lyndon and Matt get to sit down together, have an adult beverage, and chat about Zelda. I love the contrasting opinions on games based on nostalgia and pure enjoyment. Although I tend to agree with Lyndon more when it comes to rankings (which might be due to the fact we are more close to the same age), the opinions of everyone involved are valid and heard throughout the seasons. The recurring guests are another major high point for me, as their insight gives even more context to the section that was played. Overall, I would and DO highly recommend this podcast to anyone who loves Zelda or wants to get into the series. It’s fun to have someone to play along with, and I can’t wait to continue going through the catalog of work with each new game I play! Keep up the great work! P.S. Wind Waker>Skyward Sword …and from a former professional baseball player, the baseball game in A Link Between Worlds is miserable! -Franz

    Made My Week!
I came for the nostalgia and stayed because this podcast is an absolute gem. I love the banter - especially between the twin brothers who were separated at sea. Lots of love from Michigan!

Amazing podcast, with tons of fun chats
Listening to the both of you is great to pass time while at work, 10 hour days have made it possible to catch up and I can’t wait for more! Can’t wait to listen to the rest!

    Great podcast
I was able to listen to all episodes in less than a month and it was amazing listening to your experiences with some of my favorite Zelda games. Also in breath of the wild in the Subdued Ceremony memory Zelda in the back round references the other two timelines or at least the adult timeline. Here is the full thing. “Hero of Hyrule… Chosen by the sword that seals the darkness. You have shown unflinching bravery and skill in the face of darkness and adversity. And have proven yourself worthy of the Blessings of the Goddess Hylia. Whether Skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight, the sacred blade is forever bound to the soul of the hero. We pray for your protection, and we hope that… we hope that the two of you will grow stronger together as one.” “Forged in the long distant past, The Sword that seals the darkness. Guardian of Hyrule, ancient steel, forever bound to the hero. In the name of the Goddess Hylia, I bless you, and your chosen hero. Over the seas of time and distance, when we need the golden power of the goddess, our hope rests in you, to be forever by the hero’s side. Again, we pray, that the two of you will be stronger ,together, as one.” Also in twilight Princess when you are fighting ganondorf you aim where the light arrows go with the right stick (or left can’t remember rn)

    The podcast rocks
Gents! What an awesome podcast about makes a good Zelda game, and what makes a good game in general! I started the podcast in October of 2023 and have finally caught up. Keep up the good work!

    Amazing
For someone who grew up on the legend of Zelda. I find this show with so many nostalgic moments from the games. The detail that this show puts in each episode makes me love the legend of Zelda even more, thank you guys.

    Passionate. Smart. Funny.
I love this podcast so much! The hosts and guests are well informed, have really interesting and well-thought out takes on various topics, and are true fans of the series. They are also pretty funny. I’m listening through the TotK episodes right now and there have been many times where they absolutely NAIL IT as to why this game is so amazing. I share the same enthusiasm towards the LoZ series and am so happy to have found this podcast!!

    Awesome
I find the show very entertaining and funny And always insightful and I agree with a lot of what they say on the show. This is one of my favorite podcasts

    Multiple thumbs up
One of the finest examples of the “two white dudes talking about a niche topic” genre. This isn’t meant to be sarcastic, I legitimately love this show.

A Podcast Wields No Strength Unless the Hosts Have Courage
As a long time fan of the Zelda series from the days of A Link to the Past, I am thrilled to find a podcast which shows both boundless love for the series which results in a love that critiques. The rapport between the Brothers Willoughby makes for great podcasting. Well-structured, well-edited, and with a healthy level of humor, it’s probably my favorite podcast dedicated to a single series of games. An easy recommendation to make, and I’ll squeeze in a random question prompt: if you were to touch the Triforce and your heart were unbalanced, which of the three pieces do you think would stay with you? Power, Wisdom, or Courage. Thanks for copious amounts of great content, keep up the good work.

    This is just to say
Here’s part one of the sacred realms review: Overall, this show is a great listen for Zelda fans - with that being said, let me get into the details. Lyndon and Matt play through every game and break it down as they go - with that being said, it’s never too dull thank to the consistent structure and thoughtful production. The two hosts almost never miss an episode - with that being said, they bring in a rotating cast of guests to add a dash of flavor. They’re all great podcasters to listen to - with that being said, Matt still can’t pronounce half the character’s names and Lyndon desperately needs to find another segue phrase. With all that being said - love the show! All hail the tree pope, never forget your boomerang, and may Igor the Block have mercy on us all.

I don’t even really like Zelda that much
I got into Sacred Realms as I was getting into botw a few months ago. But something weird happened when I finished the botw season—I just kept listening! I’ve never played another Zelda game or even had any interest in Zelda before, but for some reason listening to Matt and Lyndon has become such a comfort to me. I’m across the country from home right now, and when I started not feeling good I found myself immediately reaching for this podcast. I don’t know how it happened, but Sacred Realms is a safe space for me :)

Started off great then went downhill
Really enjoyed this pod until they involved politics. No need for any sort of politics on a Zelda retrospective pod. Also no one wants to listen to a rerelease of an episode that is still open to listen to.

Amazing podcast for zelda lovers like me!
Out of all the podcasts about Zelda, this is truly the best one. I love the dynamic brother duo! They really get into the depths of the Zelda series. Always keep me entertained with their humor and little nit picking at each others, I mean what are siblings for? I also love the amazing guests there bring on the show and how they’re always interact with their listeners!! They really dive deep from the dungeons, music, gameplay, etc etc! Thank you both for making this AMAZING Zelda podcast and so happy I came across it last year!!

    Top-tier Zelda podcast
Hearing Matt and Lyndon talk about the current Zelda game they’re playing is one of the highlights of my week. Their thoughtful commentary on everything Zelda is a delight to listen to - highly recommend
  • Cat Lockwood
My favorite Zelda podcast hands down!
As the title says, my favorite Zelda podcast. Lyndon and Matt do a great job discussing (with great brotherly banter) the section they played that week, and often bring knowledgeable guests to pontificate said sections. Great ZELDA podcast!
  • THESCOTTPRUITT
    The show.
I just started playing Zelda early in 2023 and am hooked. Love your show. It’s constructive. You are both well read. Thanks for a great podcast.

Great Pod — Less Politics Please
I love this podcast. The brotherly dynamic is fantastic; they have great guests, interesting takes, and great banter. But every now and again they feel the need to get political regarding certain issues. I came here to get away from The Zelda Cast, where their host put out a message post-Dobbs that pro-lifers weren’t welcome in their community. Im not sure why Zelda podcasters feel the need to pontificate on the happenings of the day, but that’s not what we’re here for. I’m here to escape from all that stuff, and if they would stick to Zelda this would be a 5/5 for me. Edit: I want so badly to give this podcast 5 stars. Of the Zelda podcasts I’ve listened to, this is probably objectively the best. But hearing them give cringey, underdeveloped political takes completely defeats the purpose of what I’m here for. You guys are really good at what you do — banter about Zelda and interview great guests. So stick with that. I love talking politics, and I’d love to chat with either of you ab politics over a bottle of basil hayden. But that’s not what we’re here for. Please make it so I can give a 5 star review. I so badly want to because of how much I love this pod. For now I’m dropping it from 2 stars to 1.

    A light from the forest!
I’ve never been into podcasts but I recently stumbled upon yours and I’m hooked. I grew up playing Zelda games and have beaten nearly every single one of them. I have been in a very dark place this year following a divorce, and your pod has helped me keep my head up and remember there are people just like me out there! Your podcast has been a light from the forest clad in green :) keep it up!

    Great Zelda pod
I listen to a lot of Zelda podcasts and the content these Texas gentlemen bring is top tier. They have a really great structure for their episodes and interesting guests. The show is very balanced with lore, analysis, incite and everything anyone could want from a Zelda pod. I can’t say enough good things about this pod.

    Fantastic Podcast!
I recently spent some time looking for a Legend of Zelda themed podcast to get me through my work days and was pleasantly surprised when I came across this one. Every episode I’ve listened to thus far has kept me throughly engaged and entertained. Lyndon and Matt both seem like great guys and I love the brother dynamic. It’s evident that they are true fans of the Zelda series and I’ve enjoyed hearing their analyses on various games that I grew up playing and fell in love with at an early age. The guest stars have been great as well and always bring great new perspectives and personality to this already phenomenal podcast! I look forward to listening to more episodes. Keep doing what you’re doing guys!🙌🏻 PS: My top 5 favorite Zelda games are 1. Tears of the Kingdom 2. Ocarina of Time 3. The Wind Waker 4. Breath of the Wild 5. Majora’s Mask Honorable Mentions: A Link to the Past, The Minish Cap, Link’s Awakening and Twilight Princess

    Great Zelda Podcast
I really enjoy this show and it is essential for Zelda fans. They hosts go through walk-throughs of each Zelda adventure and you get to relive adventures through Hyrule through the lens of someone else. Highly recommend!
  • Jhammerick
    Perfect structure
I got into a big Zelda mood recently and decided I wanted to playthrough the whole series, having only beaten 3 myself. And as usual, when I get into a mood for something I seek out podcasts on it. I found a handful that were enjoyable, but ultimately, this is the only Zelda podcast I stuck with. The hosts are fun, and I say that as someone who’s favorite is Twilight Princess, and I love the systemic way each game is tackled, going dungeon by dungeon. It’s made for great conversation and easy listening!
  • Teeheehahahahs
    Fantastic!! Highly recommend!
Fantastic podcast, love the people, love the podcast, love everything you guys talk about. I really appreciate the work you guys put into this for a new episode every week. Im still currently a new listener and patreon supporter. I have never thought about nor considered supporting a podcast before, so I don't know what song you played on the ocarina that inspired me to support, but it definitely worked! hands down, very happy to support you guys and so excited to keep listening! keep up the great work! p.s. im not sure why it says my name is teeheehahas, haha! im david, or daxel on patreon!

    Excellent-can’t get enough!
This podcast has prompted me to write my very first review-I can’t get enough of it! I’m a huge Zelda fan and play and replay many of the games often. These two have the conversations I’ve always wanted to have with someone! I started a little late and binged all episodes, and when I caught up I finally bit the bullet and bought skyward sword on the switch for my very first play through. I also restarted the podcast season on skyward sword so I could finally visualize all the things they talked about as I played. Re-listen value is great. Thank you for the many many hours of amazing and knowledgeable content, for giving opinions and being honest about what you don’t know, and for finally getting me to play a delightful game in the Zelda saga that I had previously avoided. Can’t wait to get more involved as a fan! Keep it up guys! Huge fan, Tiffany

    Great Pod!
Even if you’ve never played a single Zelda game give this podcast a try, the hosts may just convince you to play 1 or 2! It’s a blast listening to the hosts break down such iconic games that have had a huge impact in my life! Keep it up guys!

    Best Zelda Pod Ever!!! :)
I’ve been trying find another video game podcast for a quite a while and this one is the best one I’ve found so far! Love the dynamic and love the analytical view one Zelda. Keep up the AWESOME work :)

    Perfect Zelda content
I live where the Nintendo nerds are sparse and talk of Zelda is strange and sometimes I wish I had SOMEONE to talk with about nerd stuff. This podcast feels very much like that place for me to do so. This is one of few podcasts where the hosts do an amazing job of both structuring content, and developing a connection with their viewers. I finished ocarina of time for the FIRST time by playing along with you guys (I know I know took me long enough) and I’m currently playing along in my first master mode run of breath of the wild. I’ve shouted “yes,” “no,” “That’s what I thought,” and more at my phone while listening, and though it makes you feel pretty dumb afterwards, it’s really fun to have something to look forward to no matter what every week. Keep on keeping on guys!

    Favorite Zelda podcast!
As someone else who grew up playing Zelda with my brother and then found their way into game dev through non traditional means, this podcast really resonates with me on so many levels!!!

    Fun and Engaging
I just finished a play through of Ocarina of Time on my 3DS and Link’s Awakening. I concurrently listened to the Sacred Realms podcast and thoroughly enjoyed their perspectives and guests on the games. The sound quality and production is one of the best of the abundant Zelda podcasts out there. Many of their guests provide great insight as well. They also have solid “side quest” episodes relating to Zelda or other Nintendo games. Keep it up guys. I’ll be playing along with some of your other seasons too.

If Zelda Discussions Were a Classy Daytime TV Show…
I found the podcast in a roundabout way that stemmed from discovering Lyndon’s Zelda-inspired illustrations. Ever since, I have thoroughly enjoyed each episode. It’s incredibly refreshing to hear an actual discussion on the lore, technical craft, and personal experiences of playing a Zelda game — not just another theory or “leak” ramble. Each guest Matt and Lyndon invite bring something fun to the table and it’s the kind of banter I wish I could have with my friends if they were invested into the franchise as much as we are. Thank you both for creating a space to hang out, listen, and share the insights of why we love this franchise. Cheers 🥃

My new favorite podcast, by far.
The Willoughbys never fail to entertain! Two weeks ago I Googled "Zelda podcast" out of sheer curiosity. *Cue Secret Sound effect* As of today, I am caught up and have subscribed to the Patreon for the bonus content. Revisiting Zelda games chapter-by-chapter with an objective viewpoint is a great idea, and it has been a blast listening to different opinions and views on my favorite game series of all time. The guests are always super knowledgeable and bring fresh takes to the table. I'm always learning new things, from the guests and hosts alike. I look forward to the next season and fully expect it to be excellent in every way.. Whether you are a long-time Zelda fan, a newcomer to the series, or just looking for an interesting take on a classic video game franchise, give these guys a listen!
  • vaca pequena
Great banter and insight on the Zelda series
These guys are always so enjoyable to listen to, as well all the different types of guest they consistently have on the show. I just finished listening to all the episodes so far at work and now the once a week episode release is one of my highlights of the week and always helps get me through the workday. As a fellow north Texan who also enjoys the occasional cigar and glass of whiskey, for me it often feels like I’m just hanging with some friends talking about my favorite games. Can’t wait for y’all to play Twilight Princess, as it’s my favorite of the series and I think y’all will definitely give it a bit more credit once y’all replay it from an objective standpoint ;) Favorite BDubs flavor is definitely just the classic Buffalo. It’s popular for a reason!!! Oh and boneless beats bone in any day, I’m not afraid to admit it

Was Zelda created for siblings to bond?
I recently reached out to my brother to tell him that I was replaying Ocarina of Time (which we played and bonded over as little kids just like the hosts!) and he told me about this wonderful podcast! Great perspectives and conversations about the game. Of course I started with Chapter 1 of Ocarina and it has been a blast playing along with you guys! I’ve never been more excited to play, other than when I was a little kid!

A loving look back at a great franchise
There’s a lot of podcasts out there that cover Zelda and a lot bookclub style podcasts. Sacred Realms might be my favorite in both categories. It’s a great look back at the franchise, and includes awesome guests, silly goofs, and poetically written recaps that manage to make the stories and settings even more engaging than the games already do.
  • shxbfkvobobxosjsmfndicj
    Zelda is 35 and I’m 27.
Up front you understand that this is a retrospective podcast with a lot of honest love and respect for these games. The OOT season was great. I love that game and it almost felt like I was playing along . It made me want to break out the N64. I think the best part is that you don’t have to even have played the games to appreciate this podcast and that was really surprising and relieving to me as a listener. I wasn’t sure if I was going to connect with the other seasons as much but I did. If you’re like me, you don’t have time to put into ( or maybe you don’t have a way to play ) a Zelda game that you haven’t had a chance to experience. But, you still enjoy learning about the lore of the series. This is where you can still experience that. I bet playing along makes this podcast even better. Great hosts, great guests, great show.

    The Beauty of Diversion
I stumbled upon Sacred Realms by accident about three weeks ago while looking for a podcast that reviewed Skyward Sword HD. I decided to give it a try starting with season 1. I spent the next three weeks voraciously consuming the podcast during every commute. My life is crazy, right now Zelda is the only diversion that allows me to not stress and take a break from a chaotic world. Matt and Lyndon are really engaging hosts who bring on really insightful guests that always bring a mixture of nostalgia and brand new insight that make me excited for each and every new episode. Awesome show, great formula and rundown, every episode is a beautiful diversion!

    Great show love the energy
This show is everything I was looking for in a podcast. I played Ocarina of Time alongside Matt and Lyndon. Every week it was awesome seeing their takes and being able to compare it to mine. Sometimes I would even say things like “that’s what I was thinking!” To my phone or “I hadn’t thought about that before.” By listening to this podcast I have been able to greatly expand what I see in the Zelda franchise and I look forward to what they will do next.

    Great Pacing and upbeat
So happy to have a Zelda podcast to listen to, you definitely know your stuff and like the concept of having guests and having an ongoing review of a certain game. That being said as there is a concern about pronouncing, with Skyward Sword coming out I wanted to be prepared on how you pronounce Fi just so my ears are ready 😜 but in reality I love this podcast so much! Gotta get into those trading cards too!

    So good!
Lyndon and Matt are awesome. My wife loves to watch me play Zelda games and she loves the story. I recommended that she try and do Link’s Awakening along with the brothers and it’s been a blast…albeit difficult for me not to backseat drive! It’s a fun thing to do together and listening to Matt and Lyndon after finishing this week’s level is super fun. Love the podcast and thanks for doing it!
