While I find Sam to be a thoughtful and intelligent connoisseur of film, he has two major flaws that keep me from loving this podcast. The first is the number of times he casually dismisses a film or a performance that is outside his area of knowledge. When doing a podcast about film, research is very important and during the prep for an episode, it would be wise to take a page from other podcasts where the hosts have clearly done their homework and are able to speak again at informed matter about all topics relevant to their broadcast. The second issue, and the one that makes it almost impossible to listen to this podcast, is that Sam’s audio is so faint in comparison to his guests that the volume differential it’s very hard to equalize.
