The teachings of Jesus lead us to a better, fuller life. This was true in the ancient world where Jesus first taught, and it’s still true today. But what does it mean to actually practice the way of Jesus in today’s complex, secular world? In this podcast by Practicing the Way, John Mark Comer responds to that important question through his teachings at Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon. Join us as John Mark provides practical insight on how you can be with Jesus, become like Him and do what He did wherever you are today.

My Go-To Podcast for Spiritual Formation
I love this podcast! I’ve shared it with so many friends and family members. John Mark’s teachings break down complex topics and Scripture passages in a way that is both easy to understand and transformative in my relationship with God.

    Spirit stirring and eye opening
John Mark and the teaching team provide such great knowledge and thoughtfulness around the topics taught about in the Bible. Each podcast seems to find me right where I am and the sermon is so relevant. Great podcast for those seeking to learn about God, and learn practical ways to translate the Bible into modern life lessons.

    John Mark - Wise words
John Mark is a revolutionary Pastor. He unleashes our desire to get closer to Jesus and gives us a map to living as his disciple.

    Too hip for Jesus
I find no value in three – named young effeminate pastors spending so much time trying to sound cool and hip, and with it, and not enough time truly opening the word of God. In the spirit of trying to make Jesus relevant, you castrate Jesus into a Eunuch. No thank you

    This is it
If you are like me and have felt stuck & disillusioned by church. And the God you met as a young disciple leaves you questioning existence. These talks will invite you into practices that will deepen your understanding. These lessons teach me to to walk in rhythm and silence before a loving God. As older followers of Jesus we must reject the pull of the world and live daily in an act of resistance and adopt our own rule of life that reflects Jesus.

    Life Changing
I was baptized at Iron City Church at the age of 15. My life has changed so much since that. My young life leader sent this to me. The more I listen to it the more powerful his words are. I think I will start listening to all of his podcasts now. He is amazing speaker. I am now a member of Fullness Christian Fellowship Church. It is has been a great church. If you haven’t found a church where you feel comfortable the two churches I suggest is Iron City Church( in south side) and Fullness Christian Fellowship Church( down the road from Shades Mountain Baptist Church). These are both amazing churches and have very welcoming to new people. The pastors are amazing. Iron City Church pastors: Isaac Adams, Kam Pugh, and Dustin Ratliff). Fullness Christian Fellowship pastors: Bart Brookins, Scott Shoop, and Gabriel Hughes).

    God Send
These teachings are wrecking my inner world. I’ve never felt so challenged but in the most loving way from Jesus. I have been a Christian for many years but just about a year ago finally found a church community I really fit with and can feel myself growing there. My pastor recommended John Mark teachings as an extension of the spring and fall practice we do as a church. Thankful for finding these podcasts. What a beautiful gift!

    Disciple of Christ
I never knew how much I wanted and needed to be a disciple of Christ. Not just a “Christian” but someone that is abiding and resting in Christ. John Mark Comer has opened my eyes and heart to this. throughout my day, I constantly ask myself. How would Christ act in this situation, what would one of his disciples do?

    Best Gift
Wow! I needed the Dec. 15, 2023 “Joy - Advent E1” podcast. It will be one of the best gifts I receive this Christmastime. I want to be a sabbath/advent person but can’t seem to be wholehearted in pursuing it. My heart was grieved about that very thing this morning this morning, then the Holy Spirit brought me to this. Many thanks to the Lord! And thanking you!

    I would have walked away…
Truly if it wasn’t for JMCs intentional way of engaging scripture I don’t think I’d have a faith anymore…I was so burnt out on midwestern religion /church… he brings fresh perspective and practical wisdom on how to be a follower of Jesus in the modern world- I am eternally grateful!

Jesus’s invitation to discipleship explained in a way that I have never heard before…
God’s spirit is moving and calling His church to a deeper level of devotion and holiness through these teachings – – I am growing like I never have before in my faith listening to JMC’s teachings and have recently started a core group to do the practices of Jesus John Mark talks about. Definitely start at the very first podcast posted and listen to them in order. JMC & Practicing the Way— thank you for your obedience to God – – keep the faith!

    Thank you Jesus
I was just thanking Jesus for how he is using John Mark in my life. In his last few messages in the Matthew series his authenticity in facing his weariness have made me feel like I am not the only one. He shows how to face the trials of day to day life while doing what you’re called to faithfully. When we are weak, he is strong. Thanks, Noah

    Simplicity Series Changed My Life
I have been reading & listening to the teachings of JMC for years but something about the simplicity series changed my heart posture around things, lifestyle, career, and relationships in such a new & profound way. Thankful for his faithfulness to speak God’s truth into this area of our lives! Could not recommend more ✨

    Easy to Absorb
John Mark has a way of teaching that pulls you because he keeps it simple even though it’s packed with so much wisdom. I’ve learn that many things I face and react too can have better ways to help me cope. Just knowing and remembering, Jesus is with me! I’m NOT alone and He’s there to help me in all things! Thank you John Mark!

    I could listen all day
John Mark is the most intelligent pastor I’ve ever listened to. He is so humble and well read and has an incredible way of incorporating his astounding knowledge into his teaching and a special gift of stimulating my spirit. His voice is gentle as is his sense of humor.

    Exquisite
There’s no quick fix in addressing the river and undercurrent of anxiety in ourselves and out society, and John Mark’s writings and teachings are a pathway to resolving your own. I know, because I’ve begun to practice them avidly, and these things take practice, some of these incredibly important findings are changing my life (along with more deeply and intentionally leaning into the Master). Look, people of have celebrated and honored the sabbath for thousands of years. It is a commandment after all and a foundation for creating “margin” in your life for others and yourself. Lean into this. You’ll see what I mean. It’s not the sole premise of his teaching, but a cornerstone one.
  • Hamrin423
    Not just chaff
I appreciate the honesty that these teachings have. His teaching on “the critical journey” and dark night of the soul help in times of darkness. The Bible is filled with lament and wrestling with God, but most people think admitting this is a sign of weakness or lack of faith. Just so you know not all of his teachings are of lament, but he does not shy away.

    False teacher
Preaching progressive theology and mysticism, unbiblical social justice gospel, creational monotheism (which is basically unbiblical polytheism), false teachings on Sabbath. Praying for his repentance. But MARK AND AVOID!

Oh my word! (Or Gods Word)
Can’t say enough how glad I am to have stumbled on this podcast. I grew up southern Baptist and that is not altogether a bad thing. I wish every child in America could have half tge doctrine and Word I have been taught! Thank you Jon Mark for preaching in a way to help us live out our Christian journey successfully and with so much more than just being saved. From sabbath to practicing the way through living more meaningful by getting “stuff” out of our houses and heads! God bless!
  • Jtpane

    Truth Be Told
Excellent teaching of Gods Word. Clear challenging guidance from the Word coupled with seriously good sideline comments and no I am not from Forest Grove. I encourage any who are looking for knowledge that can be applied to daily life to start from the beginning of the podcasts and daily work forward. If you are a note taker you will be in note taking heaven!

    Voice for today
JMC is as good as anyone right now at being able to speak to folks today in their cultural language, making the truth of scripture known and understood by this generation. So much of this material is so helpful for formulating non-churchy mental maps for life. I find myself using content from here in day to day relationships.
