Left of the Projector

On Left of the Projector we discuss from film from a leftist perspective. Episodes will feature guests who will offer their thoughts on films from a shared interest in class consciousness and personal experience. While everyone can take something different from a movie, LotP will provide discussion and analysis from an anti-capitalist and Marxist point of view. A new way to think about movies
This great podcast features host Evan and guests discussing a film in the context of its political environment at the time and how that might translate to the contemporary. Often unknown backstory of how and why the film might have been created is revealed as well as direct or indirect influence of or reaction to government institutions is provided.

    Left of my heart
I love love love this podcast. Evan is so chill and insightful and he brings in great guests. Picks a nice blend of movies too and doesn’t speak over the audience

    Amazing podcast!
Left of the projector is one of my favorite podcasts. Being a sucker for both film and politics it kinda feels tailor made for my interests. On more than one occasion my jaw has been dropped by the political analysis, putting new spins and perspectives on some of my favorite movies. Evan picks great films, great guests, that mesh well together to produce original insight. Editing is good too, sound quality is high and he uses fun sound effects and ambient BG music when appropriate to enhance the entertainment value. Super enjoyable listen for anyone who enjoys films!

Great show, but the background music needs to go
I love the movies they pick and enjoy the discussions, but they play this ambient background music during their discussions that’s annoying and distracting

    Great leftist movie analysis
Some thinkers say that all movies are inherently reactionary, but this podcast rewatches our favorite movies and analyzes them through a Marxist lens. Great guests and great commentary set this show apart.
