    New to FI? Start here!
Discovering the Catching Up to FI podcast at the very beginning of my journey to financial independence, at 38, has been a total game changer. I expected it would be a great resource to introduce me to terminologies and concepts of the personal finance world but was pleasantly surprised by the compassion, support and non-judgement of the hosts and the community that they have created. I have listened to every single one of their episodes all the while taking lots of notes and forwarding along countless episodes to family and friends. If you’re like me and just found out what FI means, this podcast is a great place to start and guide you through your journey. I’ll forever be grateful to Bill, Jackie, Becky and all the incredible guest speakers.

    A life-changing show!
Love this incredible show and the hosts. Catching Up to FI is such an essential guide for anyone on the financial independence journey. Bill and Jackie speak to not only the math, but the emotional and psychological side of this journey. For my wife and I, this show has truly been life-changing. The content and guests have shaped how we think about money and why we do what we do. It’s helped us find the drive when we needed it and a helpful path for stepping away once we hit CoastFI. A big thank you to Bill and Jackie for all that you do. Keep it up!

Excellent Podcast for the FI community!
Bill and Jackie really have something wonderful here. Catching up to FI is informative, entertaining and encouraging. I especially loved Jackie’s episode about HSA’s. Providing applicable resources and tools for people learning and working towards Financial Independence, the hosts do a great job teaching and guiding through story telling. They have a great variety of guests on the show, so I’m always learning about the FIRE paths from fresh perspectives as well! Highly recommend!

    My favorite Finance podcast!!
I have listened to a dozen financial podcasts over the past nine years, religiously. They’re all great in their own way, I have learned so much through all of them combined. Would differentiate this podcast from all the others is the culmination of learning of every aspect of financial and personal health and wealth. I appreciate their willingness to go more in depth, or into the weeds, as they say. There are so many podcasts for beginners people just coming into fly and learning. There are so few podcasts that are willing to talk about the advanced practices. This podcast does and that has been a game changer for me! Great show, late in the game or not! Most comprehensive coverage of all topics due to focusing on catching up. When I get to FI, I will donate boatloads, it is making a huge difference!

Every show is a home run!
I really appreciate the topics you cover and the style in which you two speak to your audience. The questions are perfect for everyone to follow along with and the content is rich with helpful nuggets. I look forward to my commute to work and even cleaning while listening to your podcasts. :) Thank you for your dedication. As a medical professional and single mother, the path I have learned now to put myself on really does lead me to believe I can catch up to FI.

    Perfect for 50+
Doesn’t make me feel less than and nice simple strategies

    Excellent
This podcast is a wonderful source of education. Most people are supposed to be working toward FI whether we realize it or not. In my thirties, I knew nothing about what people meant by “retirement” accounts or how people supported themselves after retiring. I wish someone had explained this to me sooner, but better late than never!

Great for late starters, late comers to the FI movement
If you’re 45+ and need to get your butt in gear toward retirement, then you need to tune in to this podcast.

Enjoying the show but not a fan of the ads
I’m a fan of the hosts, both old and new, and know they need to make a living by having ads. It would be nice if you could clearly delineate what’s an ad. I think you've blurred the line between content and ads.

    Graceful investing!
This podcast is so great! I was ready to start my own as I couldn’t find a podcast that spoke to the late starters, such as myself. Then I stumbled across this amazing podcast, where I see that I’m not alone. There’s a way to financial freedom. Even if we didn’t start at 25! Thank you for providing great content, and reminding us late starters to give ourselves grace in our journey. Keep up the great work!!

    My People!!!
I have finally found my people!!! This podcast is amazing, been listening to it for a year now. The information and encouragement is amazing for people like me who are a late starter to the FI movement. Thanks so much Bill Jackie and Becky for all you have done and continue to do for this community. Can’t wait to meet you all one day!!

    Great hosts!
Love this podcast. Have been a big fan of Jackie’s for a long time, and Bill is pretty great, too.

    Personable & trustworthy
Although in my 30’s still, I find this information quite valuable. Bill, Becky & Jackie are honest, relatable, & thoughtful about their content. Additionally, the guests they bring on are exceptional at explaining concepts, or more often than not, the important mindset shifts that need to happen once the financial mechanics are solid. I also get to hear them explain things they wish they would have done differently earlier in life, which I can take advantage of now. Overall, great people that broadcast an enjoyable, informative show!

Great Guests and Information; Fun and Engaging
Catching up to FI is a really great podcast for a really important niche audience. So many people feel like they’re “behind,” but they present stories and information to help people get started wherever they’re at. But they’re realistic about what it takes to build your retirement. I’ve really enjoyed the guests they’ve had on the show. Thanks!

    Was a favorite.
This was one of my favorite retirement podcasts but I really miss Becky. I don’t typically write reviews but unless something changes soon this podcast may not survive. I don’t find Jackie to be knowledgeable at all and two recent episodes emphasize that. In one, she took the podcast way off topic by asking how the guest had become pregnant….totally inappropriate and unnecessary. In the other episode, Jackie was put on the spot by both the guest and Bill for her position on something and she couldn’t come up with an appropriate response. I don’t know that I’ll continue to listen as I find it hard to listen to Jackie’s narrow and self centered opinion’s.

    Wow! Cyber and FBi
Listened to this episode twice and going through the steps! Worth your time! Really informative shows with actionable items along with behavioral tips and tips. Both hosts are really humble and hang all their past missteps out there so others can learn. Listen every week now anxiously awaiting next episode!

    Top Notch Personal Finance Podcast
I really love this podcast! The personal finance topics are always interesting and the guests are great. I love the chemistry between the hosts, their individual personalities and their stories of how they found the financial independence movement. I always look forward to a new episode coming out!

    Much needed topic!
Thank you for providing this much needed information for late starters! Your podcast is so informative and offers great advice and hope to those that think they are too late to get in the game.

    Great content but…
Since Jackie has come on as a “co-host” it has become the Jackie Show. Bill barely gets a word in and there is no longer the great back-and-forth interaction he had with Becky. We want to hear both co-hosts, not just one.

Finally a space for late starters!
I’ve followed the FI community for 4 years and was always put off at the “20 year old” approach to gaining financial freedom. What about those of us who arrived late to the party? What about the ways it affects us different at this stage of life? When this first episode came out I was beyond elated. Real people, real struggles and real wins. Thank you! 🙏💪🏻🙌🏻 2024 Update: it’s gotten away from a late start focus and has jumped the shark, good content, just it’s more of the same now. Very disappointed

A personal finance show for most of us
There are a lot of personal finance shows. So many of them have a vibe for young professionals saving since their first paycheck, or real estate investors, or people with high-earning careers, or other niches. But this one really appeals to those of us who are late to FI (financial independence) or are the “neighbor next door”. Bill and Becky (and now Jackie) make these topics easy and attainable for everyone, especially those who are “Catching Up”. It’s worth a listen.

The perfect podcast for those that feel behind!
I have been listening to FI podcasts and reading about it but always felt like I was so late and the information didn’t quite fit. I didn’t make good decisions with money until my forties. Then this podcast was recommended to me. The hosts are so relatable and have material that makes sense for my situation. If you feel late to the FI party or just want to retire at some point listen to this podcast!

    The best of the best!
Hundreds and hundreds of hours of down-to-earth financial advice from the people who have done it. So much love for Dr. Bill, Beckie and Jackie❤️!

    Love this podcast
This podcast has helped me not feel so alone in this journey. I found the FIRE movement in 2017 and became FI in 2023 at 52 and my husband was 64. Thank you for normalizing that FI can help you even if you are older.
  • Neek of the North
    So concretely helpful!
This show has been full of actionable information, which is why I prefer it to all the other FI & planning podcasts that I’ve tried. I love the inspirational & storytelling aspects of it, but hearing concrete info is why I like it so much. Bill & Becky are very welcoming & make it feel like a community, even just as a listener to the podcast. Thank you Becky for the last year- we will all miss you! Looking forward to the next iteration of the podcast.

    Motivating for all
I love the concept of this podcast to identify, focus, and help those re-grouping with their finances later-or any time-in life. The hosts share the embodiment of "you can make your money situation better." That's the goal for anyone planning ahead. Anyone planning for a stronger future and the ability to handle so many situations. I do wonder about those $lacker friends sometimes. 😎

Sweet Treat - Even if you are already FI!
This podcast is such a sweet treat! Even though I have already reached FI, this has become one of my FAVs! Becky and Bill do such a welcoming job, giving a valuable perspective from their own journeys, which is so relatable! Becky, as you pull back, you will be deeply missed, as your chemistry with Bill was pure magic! Enjoy the next phase, and Bill, keep it going and welcome Jackie!

OMG! I sat right next to Jackie at an FI Dayton meeting last week. It great to hear she will be a part of the podcast.

    Great podcast
I am sorry to write a review this late. I have known Bill and Becky before they started the podcast. This podcast filled a gap in FI world for late starters. While I am sad that Becky is leaving, I am excited for her GO GO years. Bill is a great guy and with Jackie, this podcast can only go up and up from here. Wishing you all the best. RK

Lots of motivation for late starters
While we started early, we made some mistakes and made a few decisions that were right for our family but slowed us down financially. In our 50s we’ve realized we need to start paying closer attention again to catch up. Love how Bill and Becky make the late starter path real, don’t shy away from the challenges, and keep their motivation up. Wish Becky all the best as she follows her next path, good for you for doing what was right for you and your family, enjoy having more time for your new hobbies. (I just started learning to paint with watercolor too!) And welcome Jackie! I’ve heard you on several other podcasts and am so happy to have a podcast host who reached FI without a “big shovel” and is actively trying to expand the audience beyond those who already know what FI is. Looking forward to more Interesting shows in year two!

    Informative, well balanced show!
I’m a self proclaimed podcast aficionado and have followed this show from the start. It is encouraging to those of us who will not be FIREing by age 35- to know FI is for everyone. It’s a show who’s new weekly episodes I look for among my “listen now” list :)

    Love it
Love the podcast as I am attempting to start this journey in my mid 40s and striving. Thank you

There’s Hope For a Late Starter!
I was so excited to stumble across the episode Bill and Becky did on Bigger Pockets Money, I then hopped over to Catching Up to FI and binge listened most all the episodes. I really appreciate this community and the approach that is so informative, comforting and non-judgmental for those of us who are “late to the party”. Keep up the great work!

    So much valuable info!
I appreciate the time spent putting out this information for us late starters.

    Generosity
The first episode I stumbled onto was the one discussing generosity/charitable giving. I’m a kindred spirit. Already have a DAF and look forward later this year to start QCD’s. And we use our DAF as a teaching tool for our kids to choose charities to support. I’ve now started binge listening to the series. Wonderful stuff!

    Very helpful
Very helpful podcast. A lot of food for thought with The Financial Imagineer and really helpful info with the Social Security Made Easy Episode. Thanks

A must listen to if you think “It’s too late”
The FI community portrayed by the media is a bunch of folks in their 30’s or 40’s who are financially independent and retired. Or you hear how only $200 a month starting when you are 18 years old will make you a millionaire at 65. Hear that all the time it is easy to feel like you have missed the boat. This podcast shows that it isn’t too late and provides insight and actionable advice to help you catch up and still achieve financial independence. Bill and Becky make this topic easy to understand and fun. A great resource for the rest of us who let life happen.

    One of my favorites!
One of my favorite weekly Podcasts. I’ve been here since the beginning (don’t think I’ve ever been privileged to say that about a podcast before! ) and Becky and Bill are a true delight to listen to. Love both of the communities (choosefi and catching up to Fi) and having a place for people specifically focused on late starters is a huge deal. It doesn’t feel like quite a lonely road with them or that I’m as lost or missing out on anything. It’s comforting knowing that I’ll get there because there are others out there like us who have :)

45 year old catching up. This is awesome!
I listen to a lot of podcasts and am not a total late starter, but am finally really getting fired up and to a point where I am feeling in better control of my financial future. I come from a family similar to the hosts where I didn’t learn anything about investing or money growing up. This show is awesome for those of us that are past the catching fire population that are in their 20s. Love it!!!

You’re not alone and it’s not too late!
Helpful for everyone. Particularly those who feel like it’s too late to get their finances in order after a lifetime of “just living.”

Excellent information you can use now
Whether you’re new to personal finance or an expert on the topic, this podcast is jam-packed with helpful information from talented hosts and guests. It’s great to have such an amazing resource for those of us who discover the idea of financial independence later in life. Every episode is enjoyable and teaches something useful!

    Podcast
First thank you both for the much needed podcast and all the work you both do … I do look forward to Sunday’s now to listen , but will say find some episodes confusing. I’m going with the basic simple path to wealth , set it and forget it , this last episode actually rather caused confusion and made me think I should be doing more. Just my opinion , would love to hear some episodes on planning for Social Security and when to look at taking , mid 50’s trying to think ahead for social security and Medicare , another subject I find confusing Thanks again for creating this podcast and all you do

Not bad until the annuity episodes.

I look forward to it every Sunday
Bill’s and Becky’s podcast caters to a much underserved portion of the FI crowd: those of us who have discovered the FI much closer to traditional retirement age. The show is equal parts of education, hope and storytelling. Even with guests that have appeared on other FI podcasts, hearing each conversation through the lens of “late starters” provides insights you won’t find anywhere else in the FI movement.
  • It’s never too late to start!
    Awesome podcast!
I’m a 65 year old late starter, and I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what Becky and Bill are doing! I started listening to the podcast and following CatchinguptoFI on Facebook a couple of months ago, and it’s been a game changer for me. I ordered a T-shirt and I’m hoping that when I wear it in public it gets noticed, because now I’m on a mission to find other late starters in the New Orleans area.

Great podcast for those closer to FRA
This podcast really hits a spot for those further along in their careers. I refer this podcast to friends that are getting closer to the customary retirement age. It is very welcoming to the age group and provides encouragement to getting further along their way.

    Great info for late starters
Recently started on working towards FI and thinking about even the possiedo retiring someday. Bill and Becky provide some great info and resources and are so encouraging that Catching Up to FI is even possible. Thank you so much for doing this.

    Thrust into FI
I was thrust into FI at age 53 after the death of my husband. We were always good planners, but we planned out together. I’m trying to navigate this on my own and find this podcast invaluable.

Think it’s too late? Check this one out!
If you’re in your 40s or 50s or even your 60s and get depressed listening to all those 50-something’s on Jill on Money who have $3 million or more and you feel like all those FIRE podcasts by 30-somethings isn’t talking to you, this is YOUR podcast. Lots of good content for late starters created by two late starters who have managed to get back on track to on-time retirement.
