The Knew Guys

The Knew Guys is a podcast about masculinity by trans-guy comedians River Butcher and Gabe Dunn! Each episode, Gabe (he/they) and River (he/him) interview a guest about their relationship to gender, and explore relevant topics and events in the LGBTQ (usually the trans and/or transmasc) community. River’s your big brother, Gabe’s your little brother! Welcome to the fam! Episodes drop every other Thursday.

    Best guys
I love these guys to the ends of the earth. This podcast is an immediate listen for me every time.

This would be such an insightful podcast
…if River was the only host or had a different cohost. Gabe is fine on his other pods but man oh man does he not have anything even slightly compelling to say about being trans. His awkward interjections make it really difficult to keep listening, despite being your target demo.

    Audio
I like the podcast, audio has been weird lately though

    Awesome pod!
I am a huge fan of River’s in any circumstance and this pod is no different! So funny and also heartfelt, smart and inspiring.

    Really enjoying this show!
Well done show with great hosts! River and Gabe have good chemistry and the structure flows really nicely. I’m a cis queer woman but a lot of what they say really resonates with me. Yay for the all of the different podcasts we’ve been getting from great diverse hosts!

Used to be a big fan
I really loved this podcast and have followed Gabe and River respectively for a few years now. A really refreshing podcast with really interesting guests and a really rich breadth of perspectives. Unfortunately, Gabe is a Zionist and has directly propagated harmful misinformation about Palestine. While it’s been nice to see River come out in support of the Palestinian cause, I can’t continue to support this show knowing that one of the creators is, despite the nature of this very podcast, fundamentally opposed to the global struggle for liberation of the oppressed.

    transcendent non-geographical space
Listening to Gabe and River interview Tuck Woodstock made me feel so giddy and nervous it could only be compared to the feeling you get the first time your polycule meets for ice cream and you are basking in the attention and love of your three favorite hot masc trans people simultaneously, while wearing your gayest short shorts, and enjoying some very not sexy flavor that you deeply enjoy such as maple walnut! Not saying that happened…but hearing these three voices all in the same transcendent non-geographical space was wild in a way I could have never imagined! Thank you Gabe and River for being hilarious and kind and grandpa Tuck for consistently dropping new gems to ponder.

    My People
I’ve been transitioning for a year and a half and don’t know any other trans people (I’m trying). It’s been the best year of my life but has also been lonely and isolating when you’ve got no trans community. I needed this podcast, I’ve been a fan of River for years and am new to Gabe, he’s great too. Thanks guys.

    Worthy of Your Time~!
River and Gabe are wonderful human beings promoting other articulate human beings living unique lives, being queer in every sense of word. This podcast has enriched my life; it is a little hourlong pocket of sunshine in my ears every week.

    Really loving this podcast!
I’m really loving the perspectives that are being shared and the organic storytelling about each of the hosts lives and experience within the queer community of Los Angeles, as well as their personal experience with their own gender spectrum evolution. The discussion is always respectful, reflective and so very interesting. I’ve followed to get regular updates of new episodes and have recommended it to more than one client (from both of my career paths!) and also personally to loved ones. Learning so much and grateful for it always! xo, Sparrow

    My knew fav podcast
Personal experiences and opinions from two wholesome trans guys and guests. Gabe’s high energy personality is a great match for River’s relaxed wisdom, love listening in on these convos, they’re both just fun entertaining knowledgeable people. Not surprising to hear they both have Taurus placements in big 3, why is every trans masc I know a Taurus lol. And these convos really come from a place of groundedness. I really just enjoy hearing the direct experiences of people whose gender experience reflects part of my own. They are speaking to trans people directly, not wasting time explaining like what hrt stands for for example, going into much deeper nuance, but there’s a ton in here for cis people to learn too. Esp if you have a trans masc (non-binary inclusive) in your life make sure to check this out. Thanks for making this happen y'all, it’s healing, so many great insights already keep up the good work!

    Great show with multiple perspectives
I look forward to the Knew Guys because they are honest about their thoughts and experiences while also being open to hearing different perspectives. Their “trans actions of the week” are inspiring me to get out and try new things myself.

    Excited about the potential!
I like the energy, chemistry, humor, and heart! I’m excited to watch this project come into its own rhythm, especially on the theme of exploring masculinity in a cultural framework. This is good, and might become a really great collection of podcasts. Great Job!

    A Tonic
As a trans guy who’s a decade in, this podcast is a welcome change from other similar shows I’ve spent some time with. Complex conversations being handled with care and nuance are a much needed break from the infighting and knee jerk opinions that the community is sadly rife with. Hoping this helps to readdress this.

    Safe Haven!
I was so excited to hear that River and Gabe were teaming up for a podcast. I have loved River’s comedy for almost a decade and listen to Gabe’s other podcast(s) every week! Thank you for creating a little place on the internet to talk about queerness and sharing your stories and existence being trans men unapologetically. You are both fantastic and thanks for making my commutes to have from work better. <3

    “Knew Guys” Rocks
The bold bare truth of your discussions and interviews are refreshing and enlightening. Keep being you. Listening to learn helps us all grow.

    Knew these guys would rock
The Knew Guys is off to a fantastic and informative start. I’m thankful to have this show run by two swell guys sharing their unique experiences as trans men in our increasingly fascist world. Strongly recommend this pod! Also strongly recommend stretching before strenuous activity. Love y’all.

    Let these guys have fun
Not really sure why everyone has to add to the discourse, people can just make a pod for fun, I'm leaving this review in Good Faith, having been a fan of both of them for the better part of a decade, I trust they will be inclusive and have intersectional guests based off of who they are as people, bottom line another cool trans pod to add to the rotation :)

    Looking forward to this
I’ve been a fan of River’s movie, comedy, and baseball podcasts. Really looking forward to this one too.
