terruhExcellent interviews and insightsI have listened to Blair Hodges’ podcast interviews since I discovered him on the Maxwell Institute and then followed him to Fireside, Family Proclamations and now, Relationscapes. The topics and focus of Blair’s interviews have evolved over time. Blair’s approach to every interview is rooted in compassion, curiosity and respect for the person he’s interviewing and the topic being discussed. He has sparked my own interest in topics I was unfamiliar with and I’ve purchased several books by authors he’s interviewed. I have recommended Blair’s podcasts to friends and think anyone interested in understanding more about our common humanity will enjoy and learn from this podcast.

The 1st OG1st Timer who has been aware of Blair for a long timeToday was my first time listening to Relationscapes. Blair interviewed Karl Dunn and it was a wonderful conversation. The questions asked, they way it expanded as a conversation and the fact that it developed both Karl and Blair’s following. It was fantastic to listen to. I’m certain I’ll be listening to more. Thanks for all you do, Blair.

I can always count on Blair to conduct thoughtful interviews with his guests. It’s so obvious that he is driven to learn and grow, and as listeners can do the same. Ginger_HansonGreat interviewsI’m not typically a fan of the interview format, but I have really enjoyed this podcast. It is clear that the host has read the books. I have several times listened to an author who has been interviewed on several podcasts and the interviews on this podcast are typically more thoughtful and glean more meaningful insights that are missing in other podcasts.

DaSUPERmanExcellent host and compelling interviewsI’ve been listening to Blair and this podcast for a while. Blair is hands down one of the best interviewers I have heard on any podcast. He is well prepared and actually reads the books of the authors he interviews, and you can tell with the questions he asks. I feel like Blair could interview the most boring person on the planet and it would be interesting. Luckily he interviews interesting people and it makes me want to read their books.

AvidReader883ExcellentThought provoking and so meaningful. You can tell Blair really does his research on each guest and topic. The discussions are wide-ranging, in-depth, and full of compassion for the wide range of the human experience.

Picky-podcast-listenerFantastic podcastI was skeptical when I first heard about this podcast because I only like a select few, very professionally-produced podcasts. I don’t generally like listening to two people sitting and talking. However, Blair’s is a fantastic host and guides the conversations in a way that the guests can tell their stories without constantly being interrupted by the host or feeling like they’re talking aimlessly just to fill time. I highly recommend this podcast, whether you think you’ll resonate with the guests or assume you’ll completely disagree with them. My mind has been expanded and my perspective changed by the episodes I’ve listened to.

andrewheissFascinating perspectives with a superb interviewerThe guests on this podcast bring important insights to moving beyond the stereotypical view of the idealized 1950s family and provide a much richer and deeper understanding of how families actually work and how social, cultural, political, and religious structures influence thos dynamics. Blair's interviews are always thoughtful, with piercing and surprising questions. I'm excited every time a new episode is released!

Rachel_AnnMind-ExpandingThis podcast is outstanding — I find myself thinking and telling friends about ideas and research and experiences discussed in these episodes months after listening to them. It is reshaping my understanding and also making me feel seen in the ways that I, like most of us, don’t fit the traditional family mold. Blair Hodges knows how to pick great books/authors, and he’s a truly gifted host.

ckim2620Like magic.I love Blair’s work and I’d probably sign up for anything he does. One of the best interviewers around. But this Family Proclamations series is like magic. I didn’t know where it would go when Blair started, but now it seems like books coming out of the ether, every one fascinating in its own right, and all together making a powerful argument about the diversity and strength and challenges of family.

DarenHawsSmart, yet accessibleBlair’s tremendous preparation and sincere curiosity bring out the best of his guests. This podcast is a fun and masterful blend of cultural relevance and academic rigor, but in a language and tone that is accessible to those of us without the formal training. Thank you, Blair, for another great podcast to broaden our minds and expand our compassion.

BenjaminEParkPodcasting at Its FinestBlair Hodges has been among the best podcasters on religious topics for nearly a decade. This new series matches his typical brilliance, only now heightened with the important topic. If you like engaging conversations with smart people on pressing issues, this is your show.

ElsaBelsaPhenomenalI came away with so much insight when listening to Cat Bohannon discuss her book Eve. I love that it centers the woman in evolutionary discussions. I am looking forward to listening to more episodes!

josiahgibbsAnother winning podcast from Blair HodgesBlair Hodges is still the best podcaster in the Mormon sphere — knowledgable, prepared ( which means he has thoroughly read and thought about a guest book or other reason for an interview. He listens to his guests, allows them to actually speak (something numerous podcasters fail to do) and he reacts to their remarks rather than merely going on to his next prepared question. This time, he turns to discussions around the family, exploring the very many forms the family can take. He interviews respectfully, and doesn’t limit the family to his single preferred form. He explored the internal meaning of “family” as well as its exterior firm. Give it a listen. You just may find your own family is OK after all, even when you don’t think you quite fit the mold.
-
Ryan G MullenGreat first episodeWow. Just listened to the episode with Cat Bohannon, author of Eve. I initially thought, “This will be good to listen to so I won’t have to read the book” but Hodges and Bohannon gave such a lively interview that I changed my mind. I especially want to see the illustrations they briefly described. Bohannon presents wide-ranging research showing how defaulting to cis/male-centric reasoning in evolutionary biology is short-sighted. As someone who desperately needs to encounter more LGBTQ perspectives, in the sciences and in social settings, I look forward to more episodes.

smartremarkerSo good! Can’t wait for more.I can only speak to the first episode so far, but it was amazing and fascinating. Blair is a superb interviewer.
