Automotive PodcastsStop contemplating and just give it a listenOne of my absolute favorite podcasts. It tickles the car and racing obsessed portions of your brain all while also giving perspective to the psychology behind our passion.
-
Rock Show ExpertBut it might be, but it’s notIf you’re into cars, racing, track driving, etc this is what you’re looking for. Superb content from some of the best experts in the game. So happy this show exists. Look forward to each new episode.

Pat JSAlways interestingI continue to enjoy listening to this show and always take something away from each episode. The coaching episode with Ross had a number of good insights in coaching and leading people. I always gain some nugget from Jeff or Ross on the engineering principles or driving techniques that come from those same principles that increases my understanding. Thank you for making such an informative and fun show!

997guyIt’s not the car is great storytelling3 very experienced, passionate, motorsport guys telling stories you’ve likely never heard. Never disappoints, the guys have a very self depreciating “aw shucks” vibe. When I take my car out for a “therapy drive” this pod is playing.

DisgruntledinNCStill great!Having been a fan through No Dumb Questions (lots of good stuff there too!) I love the new formats and the intro of Sam into the mix.

99ReynardAwesomeFantastic podcast, glad to have found it, please keep it up guys!

adhater44If you can only listen to one podcast, this is it!This is a great show knowledgable hosts, incredible stories. This show is the most important thing on the internet (probably, the internet is a terrible place).

thebenCAA Must-ListenAs a lifeline racer and racing nerd, this podcast is a must listen. Pure gold.

TheDonovanSmithI am a nerdHello, my name is Donovan & I am a car nerd. I have a problem with taking deep dives in to the pool of automotive & racecar engineering. Thanks to Ross, Jeff, & Sam for feeding my fix weekly.

HedmanTres Hombres Tuesday!I’ve been following Ross for a number of years now… books, seminars, podcasts, etc. I’ve been following Jeff for significantly less… but I am a huge fan of his coffee line. Sam I only got to know of with these podcasts. I can attest, he is a master of the English language and a great story teller — oftentimes making up funny storylines off the cuff… Put these three together for a Tuesday podcast, and you get a great mix of storytelling and gobs of technical knowledge in their respective fields. My point? I love this podcast! The only minor complaint I have, is the dynamic range of Sam’s voice… I find myself having to reach for the volume knob occasionally so I can hear what Sam said… That said, I realize it is probably for dramatic effect. Anyway, I give the podcast 5 Stars because I keep having fun every Tuesday. Thanks!

Yobro27Sam! Slow Down Please!Sam I know you like this Penske story but you’ve completely lost me. It feels like the side effects part of old people medicine commercials. Maybe I’m slow but I couldn’t follow. The interrupting laughter is also not my favorite… it’s never really that funny. I loved the Dan Gurney pod and most of the others. But tone it down and you’ll have me forever
-
WagerDGreat mix of driving history, theory & experienceAs a fan and participant of performance driving, I find this podcast a great listen whether on the way to the track or mowing the lawn. Keep up the interesting mix of stories, theory discussion, analysis & pure love of the sport!

DarkCornerReaderIntellectuals enjoying carsThree legends from three different areas of the automotive community come together to celebrate the cars, the stories and the people. It’s great.
-
Hooptie HoarderGreat pod with excellent hostsThe depth of knowledge the three hosts have is unparalleled. I could listen to these guys talk race cars all day.
-
Devin11001100Tendency to be the Sam ShowI love the show, what a fun evolution from speed secrets! Sam, while you’re an incredible complement to Jeff and Ross you have a tendency to make it the Sam show. Give your words room to breath (slow down) and please let others talk before going down a diatribe of adjectives. The constant interruptions are distracting. I’m excited to see this show mature.
-
rgodbyGreat new car podcastEven though the title says otherwise, this is a great new car podcast. Every week a different story about cars or driving, and about aspects most of us have not thought about or experienced. I’m always excited for the new episode, and after it’s done it leaves me thinking about new perspectives, experiences or ideas (each revolving around cars , even if it’s not about that!). Love it - keep up the great work!
-
GBplayswithcarsLoving this new show!Ross, Sam, Jeff are doing an amazing job bringing some great racing stories to life. Whenever a new episode shows up, I get excited about tuning in on my next commute to or from work 😁

Peter98Smithology, but in audio form!I’ve been listening to Sam’s columns since he took over from Peter Egan at R&T, and this, like his writing, is just fantastic. Ross and Jeff make excellent co-hosts and it just sounds like a couple old friends sitting around talking cars and history and memories. Probably because it is? Give it a listen. Preferably, while working on something old and nostalgic, in an old and nostalgic shop that smells like Castrol. Or on your snowblower in a leaky shed, I don’t care. Just give it a listen, you won’t regret it!
-
FoodTruckSixty4New favorite podcastI’ve been reading Sam Smith for years in Car and Driver, R&T, and Hagerty. He’s the best automotive writer in the business and the conversations on It’s Not the Car are at least as good as his writing. I was in my early twenties when the McLaren F1 changed the world - thanks to Sam and Ross for putting me in that middle seat!
-
smashzillaReally enjoyable deep diveListened to the first two episodes and look forward to more. The guys have a free-flowing conversation that strikes a good balance between general expressions of joy about the topic and weedsy, behind-the-scenes details. 👍👍
