    Wanted to love this…
I’m a Pumpkins fan, and I really wanted to love this podcast…but I can’t. Billy INCESSANTLY interrupts, he still has a major chip on his shoulder, and his arrogance puts a damper on the interviews. He repeatedly talked down to Par Benetar, and despite starting the interview with Wolfgang Van Halen by saying he wasn’t going to focus on his dad, that’s ALL HE DID!!! Ugh. I can’t take it anymore, despite him getting interviews with people I love. If you’re a music lover who values their time, listen to Rick Beato’s interviews instead.

    Insufferable
Stop editorializing your career and the music business. It’s brutally tedious and egomaniacal.

    Smashing!
I love the Pumpkins and Billy, but The Magnificent Others truly stands on its own as a great podcast full of insightful discussions and revelations.

    Interesting
I totally dig Billy Corgan, great guy, excellent musician. I can’t quite figure out if he is just learning how to interview people, or if he doesn’t really care. I find it off putting how he continually talks over his guests, by adding in personal anecdotes that tangentially relate to the interview. I mean some of the stories are interesting, but I feel like it takes away from the content that is supposed to be generated by the guest interview. I will still listen, I just hope he will develop as an interviewer.

    Excellent
I’ve enjoyed every episode so far. You can tell Billy does a lot of research to know and understand his guests. Highly recommend.

    Interesting Content
Love the content and the guests. Just listened to the interview with Wolfgang, but Billy interrupted so much. I don’t think poor Wolf was able to complete one thought or sentence. Or whenever he finished a thought, it was jump to the next topic as if you hadn’t digested one thing that he said. Beyond that, the guests are have been exceptional and the questions are thought-provoking (just wish we could listen to the answers).

    Nice Job Billy!
I was pleasantly surprised to find this podcast. Always enjoyed Smashing Pumpkins since the debut. Billy is a very good interviewer.

    Im enjoying this
I listened to two episodes today and I have to admit, I have always had a soft spot for Billy and I really enjoy this. I enjoy the questions and the back and forth. I was surprised to see there were some negative reviews. Im going to listen to every episode.

    KNOW IT ALL
Quit interrupting…..you are trying so hard to be a therapist and spinning your agenda….LET PEOPLE TELL THEIR STORY

    Blown away
I’ve been a fan of Billy since the Pumpkins came out. Bigger fan now that I have a newer perspective of him bringing in guests that are interesting and not asking the same questions everyone else asks. Excellent use of my time and I look forward to every new episode.

    Billy the Interrupter
Great podcast Billy aka the “Great Interrupter” because he constantly interrupts the guest. For that I deducted three stars The Feldman episode is so packed with cringe comedy from Corey and his pathological lies, he just can’t help himself. 🤣 Please have Corey Feldman on again he is the king of cringe 😬

    Great concept, bad execution.
Was very excited to dig in but Billy constant interruption of the guests breaks the flow of the story.

    Crazy interrupter
I had to stop listening because Billie interrupted Howie Mandel so many times I couldn’t continue to listen. Great concept. If you want to interview work on your listening skills.

    Great execution, uncomfortable delivery
I will always support Billy’s endeavors; however, I found myself feeling frustrated with the pace of back-and-forth dialogue (or should I say domination?). Who tells Pat Benatar to answer the question differently? I felt the constant correction or over-talking was uncomfortable and disrespectful. Maybe things will improve with time. Wonderful guests and subject matter.

    Great Podcast
Listened to the Wolfgang interview, Billy does a great job with the questions and his own stories. Worth giving a listen

Billy's conversation and question are very insightful and thought out. His personality and point of view as one of the top and most prolific performers of all time comes out with a subtle nod of appreciation and love of each guest. Great listen.

    Great interviews
Billy I love the people you’re interviewing. You’re doing great. You have a great voice to listen to. I don’t like to add criticism, but😬 you tend to interrupt your guest a lot. I think it’s your enthusiasm with the interview. When there’s a good stretch of conversation, I’m always waiting for you to interrupt. Perhaps take a step back when people talk and let them finish with their thoughts then ask your questions. You might have to backtrack a bit, but it’s better to let them finish their thoughts. None of us are perfect and I’m guilty of doing the same thing. I wish you well and lots of success.

Caught you on Rogan just your conversation was enough to know that your podcast was going to be off the chain. Good job.

    Wolfy and Billy
Billy… I enjoyed a few pods you’ve done. ( I’m a SP fan too!) The discussion with Wolfy was interesting but so much interrupting Wolfy’s responses it got distracting. I could feel your excitement with speaking with him and about EVH which was great but you said you were going to make it more about Wolfy. Please ….when you ask interesting questions, let everyone answer without interrupting. You’ve got great questions and input but I really want to hear the guest responses too. You’re so close!

    Great show
I love the show. Billy interrupts often. Thats the only negative thing I would say about the show. Other than that its a fun show. Billy asks great questions!
  • LisaQualsett
The guests should ask the questions
Not only did he interrupt Diane Warren, (constantly) he seemed dissatisfied with her answers at times. He would say things like “no but what I mean is”…or “what I’m looking for is…” It felt controlling. The pace was frenetic. She kept up with him, but it stressed me out. And she would get a few seconds at most to answer before he started asking the next question or talking about himself. I think if she would have been asking the questions we would have heard more from her!

    Great show!
Billy is an intelligent guy who asks great questions. His guests are interesting as well. He just needs to stop interrupting! In sales it is called “pouncing”. Everytime a thought comes to his mind he interrupts the guest! Makes it very hard to follow because the great conversation keeps getting derailed. I hope he reads this!!! He should read the book “Never split the difference”. If he gained better communication skills he would be a high level interviewer. You have to train how to listen. It’s a muscle.

    Do some great alternative people
Do Peter hook or maybe Daniel ash

    Pumpkins Guy
Love this podcast. It works because William is a fan and knows what questions to ask. He needs in interrupt less though.

Billy Corgan is a fantastic interviewer
Entertaining podcast with interesting guests. Love the style of interviewing- more conversational with research done prior. Thoughtful questions.

    Want to love
Let the guests talk. There is constant interruptions and it’s hard to follow.

    I was distracted…
Too many interruptions by the host. Couldn’t make it thru any episode.

    Nice job!
Interviewing Gene Simmons is like wrestling a mountain lion. Well done.

    Recent Joe Rogan podcast
Just listened to Billy’s episode on Joe Rogan. That’s all I need to hear to know Billy is an exceptional human being. I had no idea and I’m delighted to learn more about Billy’s extremely insightful perspective which speaks truth to me. Thank you sir for being who you are.
  • numberoneglittersista
    Well worth a listen!
Billy Corgan is a thoughtful and intuitive interviewer. He knows where to dig in, and when to back off. Because he IS one of the Magnificent himself, he has an idea where the true treasures lay! So glad I gave this podcast a listen.

    Plays therapist too much
I was really hoping to learn more about Wolfgang. But Billy spent almost the entire time assuring Wolf that he’s ok to forge his own path. And Wolf already knew this. He spent most of the episode acknowledging that Wolf lives in his father’s shadows. I don’t feel like I learned anything new about the man. With Gene Simmons he just kissed his butt the entire time. Which, as you know, Gene just eats that up 😅

    Could be great
So much potential. I love Pumpkins and I find Billy really interesting, but this is way more about him and his options than his guests, which kind of makes him less likeable even to longtime fans. He’s really - really - got to stop interrupting everybody the second they start talking. Or asking questions so he can answer them himself.
  • NotDweezil
    I want to love this!
I enjoy Pumpkins and Billy’s talent as a musician. Love MammothWVH. Please Billy: less you and allow the guest to answer your questions. Multiple times, sometimes multiple times per answer, you’re stomping on the response. Keep working at it!
  • salvadorie1
This man knows how to ask the right questions.
Entertaining on every level with his interviews. Being a musician myself and the same age as Billy I can relate with every topic in discussion with his guests. Always been a huge fan of his since day one of the pumpkins. He was a huge inspiration. Can’t wait for more interviews. My new favorite listen and drive podcast.
  • VT Guitar
Really interesting interview ….love Wolf good guy!
“I am not going to talk about your Dad”…..and hour latter…… every EVH story is told

    Great job Billy
    Very informative I love it

    Great guests but…
I appreciate Billy’s perspective but he should let his guests talk more. Really good guests tho and enjoy it for the most part.

    Let People Talk
What is the point of having guests on your show if you were never going to let them talk? You’re very smart and very articulate but as soon as your guest starts to talk, you jump in and interrupt them. If you just wanna do a talk show, then do that.
  • mish909
    Eh
Stop interrupting your guests when they start telling a story. Also the constant pandering and ego stroking is kinda gross..esp of Simmons..who has a rep of being an incredibly rude guy.
  • Brookfield
Not what I was expecting - even better!
I know in some interviews and such, Billy can come off as an intellectual to a degree that can be offputting, but the conversations he is having with his guests are very human and very insightful. He is asking good questions, and talking about things we’ve never heard discussed publicly from some of these people. I kept wanting more. Absolutely recommend this show.
  • @benspradlin
    Great content, iffy host :)
I first listened to the Tom Morello episode. It was fascinating but I wish Tom had more opportunities to speak. Tom would begin to tell a story and get 5 words out and Billy would invariably interrupt and start telling another story. Frustrating to listen to. Hopefully Billy can learn to let his hosts speak without interruption. :) Love the Pumpkins regardless!
  • Estone2112
    Interesting but…
I’m intrigued. It’s great to listen to a musician ask questions to another musician. His interview skills need some work. I think he told Gene Simmons 8,500 times in 8,500 different ways that Kiss are good musicians and he has a tendency to cut off the guests to guide them toward the answer he wants. But the podcast has potential to be very good.
  • Officer 2
    Great show
One of the best interviewers I’ve listened to! The fact that Billy has so much knowledge so he talks to an artist he really gets it and being an artist still at his peak and he’s talking to other artists that have surpassed that peak are still on it is just amazing
  • Glitchfactor
Bully Corgan to Gene Simmons “But I think you’re wrong!”
Bully Corgan to Gene Simmons “But I think you’re wrong!” This phrase sums up the podcast. I love Billy and SP, but he’s a terrible interviewer. He’s constantly trying to control the narrative and get the guests to say what HE wants them to say. He won’t let the conversation occur naturally. Billy has an agenda and a script and he will let nothing stand in his way of following it. Interesting conversation be damned. That being said I will still listen for now. We will see if he gets better over time.
  • yessur
    Surprising
Corgan’s interview style is shockingly warm and empathetic in ways that I wouldn’t have expected from a notoriously prickly artist. I wasn’t quite sure if I’d be excited about the guest roster he has lined up either, but the first three have been incredible once he gets them talking about their lives in the industry.
  • Doghouse Studio Los Angeles
Corgan makes obvious he’s educated on the guests
No fluff No BS…Corgan makes obvious he’s educated on his guests and the topics he brings up and therefore… interviews stay interesting start to finish. Hope he ventures out beyond music people
  • Tour Money
    Gene
I think that was the best Gene interview I have ever heard.
