Underwood and Flinch and Other Audiobooks by Mike Bennett

Underwood and Flinch is a three-time Parsec award-winning vampire audiobook saga by Mike Bennett.

“If you think vampire tales are a worn-out genre, Underwood and Flinch will shock and delight you.” Walt Kolenda, Examiner.com

For hundreds of years, the eldest-born male of each generation of the Flinch family has been servant and guardian to the vampire, Lord Underwood.

While the Flinches have changed through the generations, Underwood has remained eternal. David Flinch had hoped to be spared the horror of serving his family's lord and master, but when he is summoned to the Flinch home in Spain by his dying older brother, he knows his luck has run out.

After fifty years of slumber, Underwood is to be resurrected from the grave in a ritual of human sacrifice, and David, by right of succession, is to be his resurrector. But there is another Flinch, one who craves the role of guardian to the vampire: David’s sister, Lydia. It’s a job she means to have, even if it means making David’s the first blood shed in this new age of Underwood and Flinch.

This feed has all of Mike Bennett’s public podcasts in one place: Three seasons of Underwood and Flinch; the thriller, One Among The Sleepless; his short stories; his readings of classic stories, including 18 from H.P. Lovecraft; and his complete and unabridged reading of Bram Stoker's Dracula.

“Bennett’s ‘Underwood and Flinch’ saga is the best hidden literary gem in existence. Experience the same thrill you have when you find an unsigned underground band that blows your mind.”
P.J. Parrish. Editor-in-Chief: Tennessee Valley Business Journal

    Doesn’t disappoint!
The voice acting is so good! The storyline takes unexpected turns, laced with dark humor and the macabre, leaving the listener wanting more.

Started listening to your Dracula reading in mid 2024 and it lead me to underwood and flinch and I’m wishing for many more seasons!

    Best vampire series ever!
I can’t recommend this highly enough. Mostly set in Spain and London (but also islands and pirate ships), it’s dark, funny, full of amazing world building and twists- and some of the best and weirdest and most believable characters. You won’t want it to end, and the best part is it is still ongoing. It’s read by the author and he’s freaking great. I can’t believe it hasn’t been made into a tv show yet.

Good Story with scummy sales tactics
I like the story but the several minute long intro and outros get annoying. I was willing to over look them until the first episode of Season 2 where “those pesky intros” are mentioned to be intentional so you’ll pay for the version without them. That soured the series for me and I lost interest in it

    Vampires story at its finest
I recommend this to everyone that likes well written, well read stories. It’s so much more than just a vampire story. I can’t get enough.

    Extraordinary!
Just began with season 1 and am unable to stop binge listening. So well written and hilarious at times. I also thoroughly enjoy Mike Bennett’s little intro and outro at each eps beginning and end. Such an enjoyable touch.

    Since the beginning………
Ahhhhh Mike! 10+ years listening to Underwood & Flinch! I can hear him right now, as well as the fog horn on the ship during Night Crossing! Can’t wait to see if a movie or series happens in the future! There’s just not a better vampire 🧛‍♂️ around! I’ve completed what you’ve written a few months ago, i do believe I’ll give it another go! I do love Night Crossing! Congratulations Mike! 🎉🧛‍♂️

    Brilliant!
The writing is great. The story is great. The narration is great. And to think one person is responsible for all 3. What a talent. Thanks from this devoted listener.

Absolutely epic and captivating - Mike’s readings are incredible.
Mike singlehandedly helped me get into a genre that I never knew I had love for until now. Underwood and Flinch is incredibly epic, and the fact that I can consume this at my own leisure for absolutely free is really awesome. A must-listen.

    Underwood and Flinch
I was first introduced to Mike Bennetts audio spectacular in searching for an HP Lovecraft audio book and was very happy to find The Shadow Over Innsmouth. I really felt that Mike did a great reading of that. He really has a gift for bringing stories to life through audio. After that I found some of his original stories, including underwood and flinch. Being of the age where the classic horror stories were quite popular as a youth, I found this very nostalgic, and also very refreshing as Mike brings his own story to the classic Vampire idea. You do a great job. I very much enjoy listening to all of you're audio stories and I am very excited to hear of possibility of a television series is in the works. Anyway, great job, keep it up. Hurrah. Scott

Can't believe it's free. So so so good. Quality audio, too.
Edit: becoming a Patreon was a great decision. Worth every penny. Yeah!!!! Dracula!!! What an awesome mix of horror and humor. So well written, performed and produced. To me, this is the best podcast out there. Highly, highly recommended

    Sorry
Just couldn’t get into it. And not a fan of the voice actors
  • beezy_ lua
    Well done🙏🏽
I’m listening to the Underwood and flinch story, it’s great so for. I don’t usually enjoy single narrator podcasts (like ever.. at all) but the voice actor is really fantastic. In seamless conversational cadence, and making the additional characters really sound and feel like. other characters. w/o having to attempt at separating personas w mad cringe overacting. I love vampire stuff but more Anne rice/lost boys leaning vs. the twilight romantic glitter kine.

    Love vampire
I love the story of the vampire Underwood in Flench. It’s a fantastic storyline. I can’t wait to see what David and Daniel get in to next. I hope there’s more backstory of Daniel if he makes it to America and find sweetheart. Thanks you have a great imagination Wendy

    Not your daughters vampire
If you’re tired of the glittering vampires of today’s pop culture, and pine for the suave, sophisticated, members of the night parade; then I highly suggest you come give a listen to the exploits of Lord Underwood.

    Great Talent
I just discovered this podcast and I’m completely addicted what a fantastic voice talent writing music everything.
  • Saruman_the_White
    A truly talented individual
Mike has a unique, iconic voice, particularly for reading HP Lovecraft. It’s like Marc Thompson for Star Wars novels- I don’t want to hear anyone else’s voice for this genre. Congrats on leaving FB as well. I’m so happy for you and hopefully more people will come to the same conclusion you did (after a very careful though process). Off to Patreon now...

    Bravo!!!
I’ve been listening to Mike since the early 2000’s. In fact, U&F was the first full podcast I listened to!!! This is probably my 4th or 5th listen through and it’s still as good as the first time! I honestly forget that Mike is doing all the voices and when that reality hits me.... it blows me away every time! I’m so glad to see you’re still putting out new recordings! Please keep them coming!!!!

What a story, can't believe it's been so long since I started listening and I still haven't wrote a review. Underwood is a pure delight to listen to, Mike does an excellent job as narrator. I can't wait for more!

    Amazing Versatility!
I’ve been working my way through several podcasts by Mr. Bennett and am constantly amazed by the creativity of his stories, the level of care he puts into performing other peoples stories and the depth of character he portrays with the almost infinite variety of voices as accents in his readings.

    Spooky enough for ya?
Heard him first on podiobooks doing Underwood & Flinch... the writing is so good; voice is even better. His reading of Lovecraft is dead on & the really characters come to... uh... anyway... If you still have a brain give this one a listen, you will like it.

    Underwood and Flinch
I am a fan of Mike Bennett's stories and I am glad he is continuing the Underwood and Flinch stories. The story line is great and leave to the imagination of what the characters look like and what they do within the novel. I look forward to hearing more.

You can't find another book like this masterpiece
While waiting for the 2nd book to come out, I suffered trying to find a book as good as this one to spend my time. Because you can't find one. Listen and you'll never look for another author again.

    One of the best
Mike Bennett excels in whatever aspect of production he delves into, be it audio quality, humor or horror. If you're looking for one of the most enjoyable podcast authors out there, regardless of your interests, look no further. I've been a fan since the original days of hall of mirrors, and I don't intend to go anywhere soon.

    YES!
I am beyond happy that Mike has decided to continue the Underwood & Flinch story! Seriously this is some entertaining storytelling! Boy was I pleasantly surprised when I thought I would be listening to Dracula and heard the annoucement that he was scraping that to continue Underwood & Flinch and then to get the new episode immediately...I was over the moon! Thanks Mike! So so excited for what's to come.
