Pobody’sNerfectI hate Pokémon and all Pokémon derivativesI know what I would use my time travel powers for; I’d go back and make sure to eradicate Pokémon before it ever evolved into the unavoidable cultural monolith it is today. Monster sanctuary is cool though it can stay.

plattym3Amazing Show!!I gave this almost a good 2 dozen episodes (all over from #30 - #180) before I came here to write this review. It's an AMAZING show! My app tells me I've listened to almost 2 full days of Mike & Phil talk about many of the amazing games from my childhood (Phil often talks 80s games) and from earlier this millenium. Great taking me through the games and then the best part: the roundtable which is the 2nd half of each show. If you enjoy RPGs, you'll enjoy this. Love the sound effects and effort they put in to the whole production!

TheDeathmaskDivineUghThere's one dude on here who is literally the worst.

RandomkillYes it is really that bad...The first seven minutes of this podcast was ruined by the intro music going on and on Episode 140 "Is it really that bad?" Which now makes for two episodes ruined by the sound guy... good work guys. Listen, guys you have way too much intro music as it is I noticed that from the beginning. If it's now creating an issue for you then do not use it or dump the whole intro thing. I would much rather listen to whatever you guys are talking about than the sound guy struggling to do his job rather badly I might add.

Fork FighterI changed my mind!I before gave a less than glowing review, but after listening to a great many more episodes I think I spoke too soon. I think the hosts do a fine job with this podcast. Phil and Mike are both entertaining. Phil's vodka episodes are always the best, and Mike's talk about Sega consoles and games is always interesting. The amount of content is great, and it has kept me from being bored at work many, many times. The recent talk about Dragon Quest games has also been a good listen. Finally, if you don't mind spoilers, this is a good podcast to listen to if you collect RPGs and want to hear a little about them before deciding to buy them. I've heard about quite a few RPGs through here that I subsequently decided to purchase, and it's good to hear a little about story, combat mechanics, and the basic premise of a game other than reading a review on Amazon or looking at the back of the box. Anyway, keep up the great work, and I hope there will be many more episodes to come!

Harvest TyGO RPGbacktrack!I love RPG backtrack. It's a terrific show to listen to at school or home and is quite enjoyable. I love the pace of the descussion, the little bits of humor that are sprinkled throughout the show, and even the antics of the cast. The cast is also very informative and also is appealing to everyone, even younger people like me, who haven't even touched some of the older systems. Sometimes the quality of the audio gets a little weird but it doesn't occur to often. This is my favorite podcast about old RPGs, and is one of the only podcasts I'll probally listen to. I can't wait for more!

N45800A Great Retro-RPG PodcastA great podcast for RPG fans. Get through the strange intros, and you're sure to find an great RPG or two that you missed. Just beware of spoilers!

DChap07Its a bunch of nerdsI'm not sure why I listen to this podcast. It's not really good. The intros are stupid, discussion is all over the place, the hosts are not very exciting or particularly listenable, there seems to be little preperation in general and the podcast tends to drag on for hours without any real engaging humor or witty banter or anecdotes of better podcasts like Retronauts. But there is something genuinely authentic about a bunch of RPG nerds just sitting and discussing old games. It's rough and mostly unfiltered and resembles a more casual conversation rather than a polished presentation. And being a nerd who loves old games- I am sometimes put to shame by the breadth of RPG knowledge displayed here. Although a lot of times there is only one or two people on the panel who have played a certain game, or (in the case of FF8 for example) the panel will be composed of people who don't like a game, with no one there to defend it- so the discussion is often one sided. And with more research the show could probably be infused with more useful/interesting bits of info or trivia about the games. I would say the podcast could benefit from some more interesting radio-type personalities, but it would take away from what is a very raw discussion with opinions straight from the mouths of the biggest RPG fans around- often covering incredibly obscure games you won't hear about anywhere else and probably have no interest in. Again I'm not sure why I listen to this podcast but I do for some reason look forward to what topic is next.

Sir ErdrickThe review you didn't know you wanted!Always a fun show to listen to! I listen to the show while I work all night and you help keep me awake. I always enjoy hearing other people's opinions and memories about games from the distant and not so distant past. Listening to this show has caused me to go back and try out some games that slipped by me in the past!

SupermarketZombiesPhil is the bomb!Funny intros, crazy Glenn, this podcast is for anyone that wants some BBQ sauce for their plate of smoked retro games.

snowdriftingUnique and easy to listenThis podcast fills a unique niche. The program's length allows for a detailed discussion and the podcasters have a relaxed pace and seem comfortable with each other. It is easy to listen to, and fun to remember the games. Good work.

tilly the killer whaleCoolio Von HoolioI enjoy these blasts to the past and the depth of the discusions on these retro and newer RPGs that we all know and love. You guys are a very enjoyable cast and I look forward to more podcasts in the future. Keep up the good work!

Swollen BeefGood show. The show is good. There are a few issues with the audio, but i have heard worse. Another issue i have is they go from memory here. So some information presented is wrong or incomplete. Otherwise, a good retro games podcast

Matt_JohnsonAwesome!Totally love this podcast. The content takes you on a trip back to fond memories of staying up too late in front of the TV just trying to get to the next save point only to pass that and fight the next boss. The audio does have some issues, but it's consistent so you stop noticing after awhile. My only real knock is that it doesn't seem to release on a consistent basis. Every other week would be great!

Aztroh KittehThe best classic RPG podcast, period. There is no finer podcast about classic RPGs. The mild-mannered host and his mild-mannered guests gather to discuss their memories of RPGs gone by. It's obvious that the podcast creators have a deep love of RPGs, and it shows in their thoughtful discussions. The hatred, disdain and vitriol that are present in so many other video game podcasts are missing here. In their place are respect, nostalgia and even some fanboy-ism. I've enjoyed every episode and look forward to more.

Strawberry EggsA great look at the pastWhile there are some audio problems and the format is a bit awkward, it is still a pretty good podcast. So far it has covered memorable RPGs such as Super Mario RPG, Secret of Mana, Shining Force, and Ogre Battle as well as their respective series (or whatever you'd call the Mario RPGs like Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi which arose from SMRPG). Not only have I heard about games I have already enjoyed, but it also made me interested in games I haven't played such as the Ogre Battle series. The Best of 2006 episode was also well done.
