Pennsylvania PeteThe Enlightenment of "Beginnings""Beginnings" by Andrew Beckerman with guest Rick Moody I found this podcast episode in the search for Digital Media Expression while taking an IST 234 class at Penn State. The biographical expression from Philosophy Graduate of Pittsburgh discusses "Beginnings" on a journey to better explain artistic expression. The interview explored the depths of the human condition. It is very noticable that the interview originates in philosophy based conversation to incite evaluations of lifes journeys while only touching on the acomplishments of Rick Moody renowned author of "The Ice Storm" and other novels that have graced the big screen. Through this resource of divulgence the storylines develop more meaning as originations give depth to articulations of pop culture. The conversation is all encompassing and as in other episodes of the podcast 'Beginnings' Beckerman's approach creates a spae that media professionals like Rick Moody can dialogue with all the attributes of struggle and success.

-
WedybirdLaugh and think about your childhoodAndy is quick-witted and blunt in his humor but conducts a very sincere and thoughtful interview. If I had started listening earlier he could have saved me $$$ on therapy!

Karan Bajaj01Excellent podcast!! Thanks Andy!!Andy Beckerman is special. His interviews are deeply thoughtful yet appear like a conversation, he's got an incredible sense of humor yet is full of gravity, I'm excited to track his progress! I highly recommend his show.

DanmaxfoxGreat podcast for all types of creatives! This podcast is really fantastic. Andy does a tremendous job digging interesting an sometimes profound stories from his guests about their personal histories. It’s enlightening to learn about these people and what drove them to be creative. Also - the music is all original and one of my favorite parts of the podcast!!!

sparebenFavorite Interview PodcastSo there are a lot of comedians interviewing comedians podcasts out there. This is my favorite because of the personability of the host. There's a level of honesty and vulnerability I have not heard in similar shows. Andy is genuinely interested in his subjects and listens more than he speaks. Also, due to the 'beginnings' concept, it is likely you will learn more about the interviewees than you might on other podcasts. I found this to be true recently when Andy Daly appeared on several around the same time - this was the funniest and most informative of them. I hope you'll sample an episode - you too may find you have a new favorite interview podcast.
-
Ease9690Nice mix of humor and interesting conversationLots of comedy podcasts are a little jokey-jokey, so it's nice that this one starts from legitimate conversations and interesting topics and then doesn't mind being funny from there. Great guests, too!

olddadaLove this show!Andy is brilliant. Add this to your playlists.

Stephen LippmanA must for comedy loversThis is a fantastic show. Andy, don’t doubt it, believe it! I’ve listened to most of the episodes of this show and feel truly qualified and motivated to rate it five stars. I started listening to learn more about comedy writers and comedians, but I’ve been entertained and educated in how artists think and how they are motivated. While interviewing comedians, musicians, and others, Andy demonstrates intelligence, a quick wit, an infectious laugh, insight, vulnerability, and a large dose of honesty. When guests discuss their childhoods and their adult behavior, Andy pays close attention, picks up on interesting details and does so in an engaging way. Andy’s intelligence and passion for play (music, comedy, Alf) shine through each interview. It’s crystal clear that Andy has fun doing the show, both in front of a live audience in New York and recording it at his apartment or on the road To help his guests to open up, Andy acknowledges parallels in his own life. I have laughed at Andy and at his guests many times while listening to my iPod on the A and D trains in New York. Not on the B train train, though! Seeing him in person, though, I recognized for sure that Andy is a sincere and likable guy. I so hope that Andy finds the impossible - a comedy career with a 401K and the means to pay off his parents’ mortgage. He’s a good guy and deserves success.

Jiko CThoughtful, With Great GuestsI love this podcast! I recently found it and immediately became addicted. The guests are wonderful and I love the various conversations about creativity. I like that there is a lot of variety, but they are always thoughtful and enlightening. I can't wait for new episodes.

PostmodernfossilBeginnings ReviewCool concept and good guests. Mark does a good job at hosting and bringing some comedy, and you can tell Andy is trying as hard as he can. Good luck going forward guys!

Stephen PerlsteinINTERVIEW YOUR GUESTS!I want to like this show so much. I started listening to this show in the beginning and I didn't like it cause the hosts spend so much time bantering and doing bits that, whatever, aren't that funny to me. So I stopped listening for a while hoping they'd buckle down and find their voice. Every now and again I come back for what seems like really interesting guests that I'd LOVE to hear what they have to say and they never get to them. They never ask any good questions, they never dig in and discover something about the creative process. They banter. Which is fine for some but the podcasts are just not informative at all and it makes me sad. The most recent guest I heard Seth Riess was even say like, let's talk about work and instead they started going off on a bit about TV shows. Not cool guys. Not cool.
-
ClaydoniousWonderfulI started listening around episode ten or so. I loved it then and I love it now with the new format. Everyone should listen or else I'll blow up the planet! So get back to me so I know whether to activate the bomb. Thanks guys
-
Adam GuzowskiAWESOME!Just listened to the Matt Besser Begings a great interview about the creative prosses and how Matt got started. As you get to hear about Andy getting girly drink drunk!

postmasterflexawesomesaucethe bee's knees ain't got nothing on these guys. i stumbled upon 'em via the flop house's glowing recommendations and dan mccoy/elliot t kalan's great guest spots on 'beginnings'. i was instantly hooked, and particularly disappointed when they were (imho) prematurely and unjustly tossed from the earwolf challenge. I'm not sure what I enjoy more, the pre-recorded bits or the tangent-laden discussion.
-
Dr EB DoinksGreat Podcast!I am glad I stumbled on to this one! I'll definitely be taking the time to go back through all the shows and get more familiar with the show. I listened to a couple and was definitely hooked! - Eli B. / Interrupted Transmission

busemancomedyAwesomeThis is a really fun and informative podcast for anyone who writes, performs, or just loves watching comedy. Thanks for making this, wrestling team.
-
JennPantsawesomeConstant entertainment- Wrestling Team has done it again. I really look forward to each release. It's a simple idea that goes a long way- really awesome for those looking for a career in comedy but easily enjoyed buy all ears. keep it up!

Licky Juan Stock MarketThe Waka Flocka Flame of Comedy PodcastsIn much the same way that Waka's gangster crunk stylings embody the nihilistic aggression of disaffected urban Southern youth, "Beginnings" codifies and chronicles the 21st century alt-comedy zeitgeist in a manner as unassuming as it is informative. But, really, since Mark and Andy both suffer from hives they should have called this Bee-Ginnings. See what all the "buzz" is about!
-
qmaliif you adore funny...you will adore this podcast. because these guys are funny. and they will make you laugh. at least once.
-
Jacko McWillikersA brilliant side of Wrestling TeamThese guys are always weird and funny, but in Beginnings Mark and Andy bring their actual personalities to the forefront for something really wonderful. On the surface, this podcast is an exploration of the early stages of a comedy career; in actuality it's a clever and occasionally philosophical interview series that has introduced me to some new talents. I'm not a comedic professional myself, and you don't have to be to enjoy Beginnings.
-
ZToasterFunny and InsightfulAndy and Mark's style is quirky and sincere and they've attracted a great mix of talent. The interviews are hilarious and insightful. I always look forward to see who they have on next.
-
JonMonjeHilarious and informative!I wish I thought of this idea first

Don't Call Me SassyGreat for any up-and-comerThis podcast cracks me up, and makes me want to be a better man. It feels so natural and fun. It seems like Mark and Andy are just two dudes who are really into comedy, and it's so cool that they can get these great writers and comics stop by and chat. There's a good-natured, at times nerdy and awkward sense of humor that's really relatable. As an aspiring comedian, hearing about people at various phases in their careers (not just the well-known dudes) helps me figure out what I can do NOW (you know, since I don't have Apatow on speed-dial). Good stuff--check it out!
-
caden_cotardunsolicited reviewWith no regard for the fact that I lost hearing in both left and right ears years ago on the set of Wrestling Team's never-to-be-released Lifetime Original Movie, 'Charcoal Bonemeal Bergman' or for the five dollars he owes me, Andy asked me to write a review for this podcast. A podcast I will never hear. My initial plan was to "Report a Concern" to the iTunes, but I know the good people at Apple can do nothing to bring back my five dollars. Instead, in the spirit of the holiday season, I'm choosing to give this podcast an "it's great" rating. Out of the many, many podcasts out there in the world, this is arguably one of them.
-
SophieBegoniaThis is not your grandmother's saccharine Jay Leno-esque comedy routineThese are great conversations between funny people. I haven't heard of all of the guests they feature, but this podcast has been a great way to be introduced to established talents I hadn't known of before, and to discover emerging talents that I might not have known of otherwise.
-
characters remainingGood stuff!Mark and Andy talk to comedians about comedy, but it rarely feels like an insiders type thing. Instead, discussions of starting out, navigating careers, and dealing with disappointment are applicable to almost any of us, and as much as I enjoy the humor in these podcasts, it's the casual conversation about life and jobs and work that I find most rewarding.
-
karyheadCalling all comedy nerdsWho are the people that are the current and next wave of household comedy names? How did they get their start? How can I learn this information and laugh at the same time? All of these questions are answered in an entertaining fashion on Beginnings. If you give a tinker's cuss about comedy and careers in comedy this is the podcast you should be listening to with your ears.
-
Will "The Scoop" CooperThis podcast is just the Beginning(s)...There are plenty of interview podcasts out there, but this is one of the better, nay best ones. Andy and Mark already have a great rapport with each other, but throw in another comedian and you're in good hands. Their quick wit and silly premises are combined with really interesting stories from the interviewee instead of a boring step by step timeline of how the comedian got to where they are. Not only is it funny, but it's really neat to listen to what all these folks went through and how different each story is. Just the varying views of comedy and life in general is enough for you to listen to it. Well...go on and listen, ya silly head!
-
A_BurdGreat Premise!Don't expect to hear the comedians telling the same story about how they were the class clown growing up. These guys get deep into what it is that drives someone to become a comedian, and the various successes and failures along the way. Now maybe you haven't heard of one of the comedians on a given episode. Well, listen anyway. It's great insight into what it is that sets these people apart from not just non-comedy types, but also each other, famous or not.
-
ceapeaHey, have you heard this? You should try hearing it! These dudes always have funny and insightful chats with some of the most respected people in comedy!
