manayunk wallexcellent but do not criticizeI remember Dana as the only reason to watch the tv show "working" and when he was dropped in the second season I bailed on that show. I have lsitened to probably all of these podcasts. But this is a revised review because there is a draconian group here that rejects with fervor even the remotest criticism. Woke mob indeed. No room for growth.

IdiocricyApes and MonkeysHey Dana, you would represent yourself as the intelligent person you are in a better way if you wouldn’t personify your ape persona as a monkey. Plus by doing so you are perpetuating the misinformation that apes are monkeys. Because even though, you Dana Gould may have a mutant tail, apes do not. Love the podcast. Keep your filthy hands off me you dirty ape.
-
JackieLadybugBecause you normalized Mike MurphyMike Murphy confessed on Dana Gould’s podcast that Republicans paid off Black leaders to get their constituents not to vote. They chuckled over that. Comedians used to be truth-tellers.

gotchaknowsMid-show telephone debacleI love your show, buddy boy! I’ve been a fan of yours since before your podcast began. That being said, please never ever us telephone conversation audio again. It’s only slightly easier to discern what’s being said over two folks talking submerged in maple syrup. But, apart from that Dana, you’re good people.

Slob slyThe Best podcast…. Period. This is the best podcast I have ever listened to. Dana does an amazing job month in and months out. I look forward to this podcast each and every month. His topics are so interesting along with his guests and his delivery and research is second to none. I just love every minute of this podcast. Thank you, Dana. Please never stop.

Sans NicAlways entertainingDana is always cheerful, full of life and funny on his podcasts and standup. His humor and jokes are like a extended release medicine that hits you a few seconds after. True tales is also like story time for adults and always captivating.

Danny Joe’s Tree HouseComfort food for my earsThe Dana Gould Hour is like what I remember Mac & Cheese tasting like when I was a kid. Playing outside on a crisp fall day, coming home just in time for lunch and mom has made Mac & Cheese! It doesn’t get better than that. Do I wish I had it more regularly? Sure. But, waiting for it is what makes it extra special. Thanks for the tummy spackle, Dana. Your pal, DJ

Atticus25An hour ain’t enoughIt doesn’t get much better than this, in my opinion. I throw Dana my money whenever I can because I never want to live in a world without this podcast. Thanks for all you do, Dana.
-
greycatdotAwesome Hollyweird HistoryI tell everyone about the lady that designed the Creature from the Black Lagoons costume. Her daughters book is mandatory reading for cosplayers & horror fans. I will say you used to interrupt less and I am good on Rob Zabrecki.

the Detroit KidJames Ellroy???Here’s my dream guest for you to have, James Ellroy! Yup, the Devil dog of American crime. Between his & your knowledge of old L.A I can only imagine the filthy business that could be dredged up! Have been listening to older episodes & and really like the newer format of the show. Really enjoy the “the True Tales from Weirdsville” always fun & interesting. Love the show so go, Dana, go!!!

katfoodbreathLacking in falcon contentFrom his pictures, I expected more information about falcons. Nothing. Merlins, peregrines, kestrels? Hello? It’s not hard.

RCWard3Great stuffOne of the best produced podcasts out there, and when he’s not interrupting, Dana is incredibly witty and wonderfully curious about all the topics on the table.

DJ Santa ClausThis Podcast Is A Whole VibeIf you’re a fan of the host, then you’re already going to love the show. I cannot think of any other podcast that is so singularly expressive of the person creating it.Unlike other shows we only get one epic per month, but I haven’t been disappointed by a single episode yet. There is some super cool bonus content on the Patreon (no tiers just a low, flat rate) but the show itself is tops if you are a free content consumer like myself.Unlike most other standup comedian podcasts this isn’t just a long winded rambling interview show. There are sketches/characters like Two Guys From Boston, historical oddity stories like True Tales From Weirdsville, and an etherealEditing style that makes the listener feel like they are walking from room to room in a party catching snippets of different cool interesting conversations. I recommend this shell to anyone who was a monster kid, anyone who enjoys planet of the apes, anyone who grew up in the northeast of the United States, just about anybody I know really. I really love the show.

MarGarBarDana Needs to Shut the F Up, PLEASE!He bulldozes over all his guests’ answers and constantly interrupts them. It’s so irritating, however I keep listening because his content/subject matter is interesting. But Dana, man, let your guests SPEAK or just do the show on your own! Jeeze.
-
WillythepitbullConstantly interruptingLove Dana but man, he is border line rude when he constantly interrupts his guests. It seems to be getting worse lately.

The Pod SquadGreat podcastI second all the positive reviews below, this is a great podcast. I listen to every one from end to end. To earn that 5th star back, he’d have to return to the previous longer format, and to let his guests complete their sentences and thoughts every now and then. Dana is incapable of not making the interviews about himself. And that’s fine, he’s a terrific talent. But that “I want to be in the cool club, please validate me” gene can get in the way of some interesting guest dialogue. On a related note, I think his Hangin’ With Dr. Z series is rock solid.

Hean44Great podcast but....So here’s the thing with this podcast. I like it- I really do. I’ve listened for a long time, I enjoy the format- even with the recent changes. It probably helps that I agree with Dana’s politics, so when he gets all anti-Trump, Im 100 percent on board. My only gripe is his interviewing style. Dana has to inject a personal anecdote after EVERY story his guests have to say. If a celebrity mentions a particular actor or actress that they’ve worked with, Dana has to mention that he knows them as well. I have heard SEVERAL times now that Dana has met Mel Brooks, that he has met James Garner, that hes friends with The Pixies. Your long time listeners know your stories. Let your guests tell THEIR story.

tincanmailmanMy Very Favorite Podcast!Just hands down the most entertaining, enjoyable, well-produced, gluten-free comedy podcast out there! I look forward to every episode drop. Dana can be a little sporadic about getting the show out, but given the joy his sensibilities provide, I couldn’t care less. This is the podcast I keep and listen to a few times until the next delightful offering arrives. Love the long format. Love Dana’s geek/nerd, sci-fi, culture, film, crime, dark-shadow tastes! Thanks to Adam Carolla for turning me on to Dana (via his memorable Huell Howser impressions). (I am also a fan of Greg Fitzsimmons, Greg Proops, Joe Rogan,

Tommy and Waks ShowPoliticalLove your comedy and your writing. Can’t listen to one sided political speech. Although we differ on little, strongly speaking without an opposing voice is not entertaining.
-
cdthomaaThe chickens are adorable... and Mr. Gould should consider adding some to the cast. I saved up this year’s episodes, in hopes I could play them whilst working. That dream is gone, but the episodes are better than ever. Thanks, for keeping them going.

Radio RabbiSo amazing and wonderful!!I’ve been listening for a few years now and I have to say that The Dana Gould Hour is my absolute favorite podcast of all time. The guests are amazing, the topics are fascinating, and Dana is sublime! His quick wit, superior interviewing skills and his fantastic writing make this the podcast I wait most eagerly for. Whenever the podcast drops, I put everything on hold and listen. Although there would be quite a gap between episodes it’s always worth the wait! Thank you Dana.

@Dr_RevelatorOf all, (was once) my favoriteI don't care how much time passes between eps, because I love this one. UPDATE June 24, 2020: This once great podcast has fallen victim to reworking, re-tooling, and ultimately becoming a reflection of too much attention from someone who isn't working enough in their real job. C'mon Dana! You need to write a new show or pick up some other project that will take your attention away from this podcast for three months. Perhaps then you will feel the same drive to put together a show as interesting, innovative, and UNIQUE as it used to be. I think the thing I miss the most since the retooling is the multiple interviews about the same basic subjects mashed together. I don't think Dana realized how much more interesting it made his interviews. During the two mashed-up interviews, listeners were treated to different moods, different perspectives, and different dimensions about a subject. Sometimes we'd hear Dana telling different variations of the same joke during the two different interviews but each time it would spark the conversation in a new direction, and we as listeners benefited from the two juxtaposed together. I miss that. I find I'm getting bored during the new, retooled show. I'd have been happier if The Dana Gould Hour had kept the same format and same erratic release schedule AND add Cousin Oliver to every interview than I am with the new format as a carbon copy of every other celebrity-interviewing-their-friends podcast.

HandkengkcnahdbcjrnfkNew review for new formatThe Dana Gould Hour is a really good podcast that has recently gone through a change. Now only one interview per episode, which means that if Dana interviews a cam girl the end result is a cheaper experience because there isn’t another interview skip ahead to. Dana committed to releasing a new episode every other week. It’s been 5 weeks since the last drop at the time of writing. Might be dead, guys.

dutchpigPlay misty for meGreat show as usual but I miss 2 guys from Boston, Eddie Pepitone, April Richardson, Arden Myron. Et al. I’m a sky cadet and have listened to every episode at least 3 times some even more. I’d be willing to triple my sky cadet membership to go back to the original format.

pka4lifOne of the best on the planetDana Gould, veteran comedian and former contributor of shows such as The Simpsons, Parks N Rec, and many more, hosts a BRILLIANT collection of comedians, rockers, history buffs, and just all around Hollywood involved. The editing is tier 1. The content might somehow be better with a perfect blend of goofery and deep history. Every. Danged. Episode. is BRILLIANT.
