    Dark days
What can I say, we are set upon by darkness. Down with the mad king.

    Love of my life.
My favorite podcast. I’ve listened for years. The calm spooky ambience is deeply atmospheric and is great for first calming the nerves and then getting the blood pumping as things ratchet up. Seriously I’d be lost without Nightmare. Check out their website. They have more audios and short stories. The best anthology pod you can find. The stories are beautiful and the va are a league apart. Side note: I’m glad the mag is getting some sponsors. Here’s to hoping they put the ads at the end to not interfere with the setting of the scene. (Or off the bat would work, as long as it doesn’t interrupt the flow of calming energy)

    Excellent!
The best horror podcast ever. Not corny like the rest. Well written. Impressive.

    EDIT
I’ve really gotta give these folks some credit. They listen to their to their listeners. Brava. Quality of narrators is just stellar. As for the stories themselves, lately I find them to be more tearjerker than horror. Which is a pretty nightmarish mixed bag for me, so…spot on?

    Bloody Mary episode
The Bloody Mary episode as well as the first one really grabbed my attention. Nice. ✌️

    Love it
They find an excellent and wide range of stories to share, and the narrators are almost always a perfect fit for the story. One of my favorite horror podcasts

    Mirrors the Modern Publishing Landscape
This show, along with the actual publication, mirrors the modern state of commercial publishing. That is, it has shifted woke without a balancing recovery in sight. Most stories selected to be published have an odd moral takeaway of something along the lines of “people who consider themselves any sort of minority are always the victims,” and, “men are emotionless, brutal beings,” and, “if you are white, rich, mentally stable, straight, believe in marriage, and any other similar majority opinion, then you are societies problem,” and, “woman are never treated well.” There doesn’t seem to be many stories here that can be horror, fantasy horror, or psychological horror without getting a less-than-rare agenda across. One star for effort.

    High Quality Actors and Stories
I’d been hungry for some high quality horror podcasts when I found this one, somewhat disappointed by the declining quality of others. This and Pseudopod are my new absolute favorites. Even stories that I don’t like or am neutral on always contain some kind of writing or turn of phrase that sticks with me. “Fishwife”, “We, the Girls Who Did Not Make It”, and “The Last of the Juggalos” are my favorites, the first for its perfect primordial sea-based horror, the second as a truly perfect piece of feminist horror, and the third for hitting me directly in my (embarrassing) love of clowns.

    Unsubscribed
Between the cartoonish new host and abstract is-this-even-horror? style writing as of late, I’m just out. Will the miss the fantastic narrators.

    Lol lol
Who is that great voice dripping in diamonds, and summers in the hamptons. She is, describing all the things i have been aghast by in hotels of a so called upper class stay. Its her, ugh here it is again , cant hotels get it together for us world travelers. I laughed my head off. Bring her back for more saccharine displeasure. Shows ae great. I sooo feel pampered after a good terror

    From meh to cringe..
Some stories are great, most are just meh, new host is absolutely terrible.. so much cringe. Just shut up and get to the stories, we don’t need 3 minute of playing pretend and sad attempts at humor.

    I Love This Podcast!
Now this is Horror! I am a very king time listener and a loyal Patreon. This podcast has inched its way into my Top Ten. Possibly even my Top Five. The previous creepy Intro comorised of tense music and creepy sound effects along with an amazing Host, Jack Kincade, who has a hypnotic, silky voice with a sinister edge and blends the Intro and stories into an enthralling podcast for which I crave for the next episode like a junkie. The stories are complex and interesting, bringing in elements of history, legend, and horror is narrorated by the amazing Stephan Renikin. The hours of entertainment over the years has been exceptional. HOWEVER, THE RECENT CHANGE TO A CAMPY “ELVIRA” COPY FEMALE NARRATOR IS LIKE NAILS ON A CHALKBOARD! Her put-on voice along with her agonizing rambling, fake laugh and ridiculous screaming, is a formate I may have appreciated as a very young teenager but not as an adult. Dear Adam, Stephen & Holly, Please pacify the major majority of your long time fans and return to your original iconic opening & Host Jack Kincade, that has made Nightmare Magazine Podcast the infamous Brand it is today! ~DeadlyBlonde 🙏🏻Namaste

    Love the new host
She’s got tons of personality and is a refreshing narrator for this new season. Forget all the haters.

    Love💀
I'm OBSESSED with the narrator, nearly as great as the actual stories!! I've listened to this podcast for years, and she had made me listen to all the ones I've messed of late
  • Ghost's Dad
    New host is truly awful.
Longtime listener here.. I don’t know who’s bright idea it was to get rid of the iconic introduction and replace it with the most cringe-inducing host in all of human civilization, but this is a very unwelcome development. Please.. no one asked for this gimmicky host nonsense. No one wanted this extra song and dance. We come here for the iconic intro & the short fiction. Not to hear the self-indulgent drivel in these heinous, new intros. From 5-stars down to 1-star. If/when things return to normal, I’ll change this back to 5-stars. What a poor decision.

Ugh the new host is awful
I really enjoy the older episodes, the new host is just awful,
  • JennRoseWrathful
    Still loving it
I’ve listened to this show for years now, but I’m writing a review to balance the negative ones about the new host. I think she’s fantastic. Reminds of the horror hosts of the past, like Elvira or Monstervision. Kinda campy and obviously loving it. The stories are always fantastically narrated and are usually worth the listen to excellent.
  • zippy4tw
    Delightfully spooky.
Really enjoying the new host, she's highly entertaining. Impressed that narrators for "Paradise Retouched"- which is set in Hawaii- pronounced all the Hawaiian words correctly!
  • LucienRElEN
    I still love this podcast
I have listened to a lot of horror podcasts and read a lot of horror. This one has its own style ad I appreciate that. I listens to every episode and always refresh for new ones, but recently the host change it taking me a while to adjust to. the intros and outros can be a bit shorter tbh.

    Great Show
The stories are quick and digestible, but also engaging. I just started working my way through the catalogue and I have to say the episode about the reanimated girls sent to search for a murderer was my current favorite. Can’t wait to continue to make my way through them!
  • Marytn1
    Not at all scary
I’ve listened to a dozen stories and not one of them was scary or even touched on the horror genre, they’re just weird.
  • Deinonychus foot
    My favorite source of fear.
The stories are really, really good. The readers are transportive. It scratches my particular itch for rich, character-driven, smart horror. It gets under my skin and I want it to stay there.

    Superb!
SO well done. Excellent stories read by very talented voice actors. Listen and subscribe today. You’ll be so glad you did!
  • Aprilbaby744
    I tried
Been subscribed for awhile now. The ONLY reason I haven’t unsubscribed is because I love the narrators voice. Have a nightmare? More like a sleeping drug. The stories are awful, boring and basically not nightmarish at all. I would say if you’re having trouble sleeping this is the podcast for you.

    Good Stories, Great Pod
I’ve been a listener for a couple years now and don’t plan on changing that any time soon. Nightmare Magazine’s pods are excellently produced and creepy as hell

    Highly recommended
I subscribe to many horror podcasts and this is a favorite. Consistently well written stories that are vividly brought to life with excellent narration. The tales come from different genres within the horror spectrum so every episode brings a welcome surprise. If you’re into horror, or so simply love great storytelling, this is a must-listen.

    Killer narration
The stories vary a lot across the genre, but the narrations are always masterful. Very little splatter, usually very thoughtful content.

    Excellent stories!
The stories are well written, the intro is short and not filled with inane chatter. The readers are extremely talented and speak very clearly. Love love love this podcast!

    Good magazine, good podcast
Stefan Rudnicki does great readings and the audio quality is terrific. Not my absolute favorite horror podcast (that's PseudoPod), but they run a lot of excellent stories. Check out "The Trampling" in the archives for some deft social commentary, or the more recent "Dead Worms, Dangling" for a good grim tale.

    Really good
I'm rating this 5/5 because Stefan Rudnicki has a fantastic horror story voice. He's a recurring narrator for this show. Sometimes, I'm very distracted. I listen to this podcast in the background, while programming or doing some other thing that matters very much to me. I might only catch a sentence, be use hey, I've got other stuff to pay attention to. I lose the plot. But that sentence will be delivered with an awe inspiring sense of gravity. He speaks in the voice that the author intended -- the punctuation is pronounced perfectly. Every period, semicolon, em-dash. The other stories are also pretty good!

This is Too Scary for Me!
These people are the best at what they do. I lasted about 5 minutes before I got too frazzled and rattled to listen anymore. I wish I wasn’t such a wiennie because what I heard was good, so good. I have friend that love this stuff, but don’t write reviews. I’m writing the review for them. If you like scary, this magazine is at the top of the best... if not, do what I do... go to Light Speed for the absolute best Sci Fi in the Solar System.

    Best horror fiction!
The episode “The Eight People Who Murdered Me” is one of the best short horror stories I’ve ever heard in a podcast. Really, really good!
