    Excellent for Baseball Nerds
I listen to this almost every week and like the format and Mike and Bill very much. Well researched and delivered. If I had any constructive criticism, I guess Bill is a soft speaker and I sometimes have difficulty hearing him if there is any background noise (like walking in NYC!). Keep it up, boys!

    Love the podcast
Trying to catch up but some are missing like 105-167☹️

    Good contact, but incredibly preachy
I’ve been listening to the show for awhile now, and generally enjoy the content. But the virtue signaling has reached eye-rolling proportions. Every time there’s a nickname or situation that was acceptable or common in the first half of the 20th Century we’re treated to a haughty, finger-waving lecture on the moral superiority of our times and perhaps more importantly, the hosts themselves. It gets old.

    Worst transitions
Just kidding, Mike I generally like Bill and Mike and I imagine doing a pod like this is a labor of love. Couple of thoughts though: Sound quality is so shoddy. Spend some money and get the right Mic and mixing software They are both nice smart guys but lack a certain flair for story telling. It’s hard to say exactly WHAT it is but like a bass guitar, you notice when it’s not there. For example, the Orel Hershieser Pod was just reading and droning on about each game. But what did opponents think of his record? What did Drysdale really think? I was alive then and there were rumors of Hershiser scuffing the ball. There are interviews and videos out there. Find that instead of giving us boxscores and mispronouncing names. Second — NO MORE INTERVIEWING authors or podcasters. Mike is usually so unprepared and doesn’t listen to responses. The interviews are 6th grade school newspaper level bad.

    Addicting
Strictly amateur, good podcast. Interesting historical detail. Less eating, drinking, eructations and lip smacking would make it easier to listen to. The birthday intro is oddly disturbing.

    Baseball History!
The narrative of the Diamondbacks Vs Yankees is engaging & excellent. My condolences 💐 Mike. The sound quality on episode #294 about Babe Ruth is hard to listen to: first it’s boomy and buzzing, then it switches to sound like the person speaking is in the background, and all the while the person not speaking is louder than the speaker going humph humph, louder than the speaker. Maybe try balancing your two voices sound quality wise and volume wise, that would help. This is just constructive critique, overall it’s a great podcast. The last episode, #301, Two Bad Big Apples, is great and has no sound issues!

Can’t believe this show isn’t rated higher
Awesome, in depth show. I love to think of myself as a knowledgeable fan, especially with the games history, but these guys shock me with their knowledge and research. Must listen for all baseball fans.

    Super Boring
Use them to go to sleep often. They get lost in the sauce with numbers and stats, but I have great respect for the topics they choose, the research they do, and their ability to make me nod off.

Love it. Love them. Love baseball.
One of the greatest baseball podcasts ever. I don’t even agree with them all the time, (Cleveland did have a team before the Guardians for over a 100 years; they even made a movie about them). But the love and respect these guys show the game and all of its characters, good or bad, is enthusiastic, contagious, and engaging. I’d love to be on this show to talk about Whiteyball (Herzog) in the 80s. Keep up the great work and happy holidays to you both!

    Thank you
Thank you for the deep dives and refreshing perspective on the game of baseball and the lives of the players.

Mike and Bill thanks for all that you do, you guys take it to another level and the stories keep them rolling out. Mike fist bumps from the upper left and my deepest condolences. Bill thank you for always putting a good word in for my beloved Mariners. Thanks fellas Tim

    excellent non-hysterical baseball show
The hosts are not shouters. There are no loud TV-like sound effects. No commercials. Passionate love of baseball history presented in a reasonable, adult style.
  • JustHaveFunMRM
Sad to say but I’ve stopped following
I’ve listened to over 30 episodes, but don’t plan to listen to any more of them. These guys enjoy talking about on-field baseball feats and personal player stories which is most satisfying. On the flip side, they also rattle off too many tedious baseball statistics, and too frequently share their heavily biased opinions about social justice and political preferences. No more for me!

    Well-worth a listen!
An excellent, well-researched, well-presented podcast. A must-listen for anyone interested in baseball history. It’s informative and fun, professional yet casual. The presenters have a good feel for when to be serious, and when to add humor.

    Baseball podcast?
Sometimes hard to tell if this a podcast about baseball or millennial morality. The amount of ‘judgey’ content can be painful to listen to. To bad, because the baseball content would be far more enjoyable without the constant morality interjected.
  • Randy Hundley fan
    This is a great listen.
I love baseball history, and this is a great resource that is well researched and presented. The hosts are great to listen to and their banter is really enjoyable. I’m not real big on podcasts but listen to this all the time.
  • Joe Vasile
    Love the show
If you love baseball and the stories of the people who played it, then you’ll love TWIBH. Mike and Bill do a great job with the history and telling stories in an entertaining and funny way. One of my favorites each week.
  • Jack in New Mexico
    Read up before you Rant
Personal opinions are excepted in podcasts, but educated opinions are expected in historical podcasts. Listening to Bill rant about the nickname “Commerce Comet” was painful indeed, as if watching video clips of Mickey Mantle’s stilted home run trot was any indication. Even the novice fan of baseball history knows that Mantle wasn’t only the most powerful hitters in his day, but he was also among the fastest in the field and on the base paths. A rubber drain in the outfield catching a cleat and tearing up a knee in the World Series his rookie season his lightning speed, robbing him of the nickname given him in high school.

Top 3 podcast of all baseball podcasts
I caught a foul ball too one time and therefore I felt like I was in the conversation. You guys are great even though you don’t like Pete Rose.
  • Janie Cassidy
    Good
This is the kind of thing I like. If you are like me, you will to.

This is the baseball history podcast you’ve been looking for
Great, interesting topics each week. Even the topics you aren’t familiar with suddenly become very interesting thanks to two informative and engaging hosts. I wish I had discovered it sooner.
  • Paul Nicolai
    Informative and fun
Knowledgeable guests, interesting book topics and Justin is a wonderful host. With this podcast, I’m rediscovering my joy for baseball past and present.
  • Okbar2
Have grown to love these guys
Three thumbs up! It’s always diverse content and perspectives. “Little bits” of humor too. I say “little” only because their sense of humor is quirky in a good way. I’ve definitely grown to love these guys.
  • GoRoyals!!
    Super podcast
Just found this a few weeks ago and love it. Mike and Bill have interesting topics you don’t hear about every day. They do their research but present it regular baseball fans type style. Love it!!
  • CSSchneider
    Great Baseball Podcast!
I just discovered this podcast (belatedly, I know), but I am very impressed. These guys are knowledgeable, and open to learning more about baseball history. They convey their info and their informed opinions very well, and for a sports podcast, these guys are unusually intelligent. I recommend the Tommy John surgery show, also the pushback against recent semi-literary attempts to rehabilitate Ty Cobb's reputation. These guys aren't easily fooled. Well done!

    I love this!
I love this! Thank you for doing this! I’m joining patreon (so) so that I can support you- this is so awesome!

    Lucky to find this podcast
Preface - I have NEVER rated or reviewed ANYTHING. I have never given feedback on any product or restaurant, etc. I felt compelled to rate this because this is an absolutely fantastic goldmine of baseball storytelling. I almost feel guilty listening to this for free. Keep up the great work. Can you do 7 hours of Gaylord Perry stories?
  • leo zemble
    You know your stuff
One of my favorite podcasts. Do more stuff involving the Phillies please!
  • LandryandKaedynsdad
    Thanks guys!
I’m that guy who loves the game of baseball but comes up short in historical knowledge.... this podcast has been awesome for bringing me up to speed on a lot of things!
  • MearnsPSA
    Great even beyond the theme
Bill & Mike know their stuff, and the podcast is just the right length to tell a few stories from baseball history every week without it feeling like a lecture. The banter between them really makes it work. Also, Bill’s son makes for an excellent guest star.
  • G_A
    Favorite baseball podcast
I subscribe to a number of baseball podcasts, and many of them are good, but TWIBH is the one I look forward to the most. The topics they choose are consistently interesting, and even if it’s a subject I know, I’m sure to learn something new. What’s more, Bill Parker and Mike Bates have great chemistry and interact so well together. They have a very engaging delivery that draws in the listener. Keep up the great work!
  • Fefer04
    Great baseball podcast!
It's a great podcast for longtime baseball fans! These are deep-dives into historical occurences and players that aren't usually the most widely-known. That's what makes the stories really interesting! The hosts use dry humor and wit to enhance each episode.
  • stlcards175
    Great podcast
Very interesting podcast if you are at all interested in history, specifically baseball history. The hosts work great together and I really enjoy the ending segments. Keep up the great work!

    Fascinating
Really well done. I especially like the sound effects. I expect to hear Mel Allen after the twib theme song. I’ve really enjoyed listening to this podcast. I consider myself a pretty big baseball fan. But much of the content is new and fascinating. Please keep researching and recording. Great job.

This is a really good podcast
I have started recently listening to this podcast. It is awesome. Mike and Bill do a good job of putting context to each of their stories and keep things lively. I really like the story lines. Keep up the good work guys. I highly recommend the podcast.

    First Time Listener
Just found your podcast and glad I did! Love baseball history. Found this story fascinating though I have read alit about this event and saw the movie 42. Really liked the birthday segment and the segment about ballplayers who passed! Looking forward to catching up on past podcasts and listening in the future!
  • xenajai
    great., despite themselves
With every episode, I wish they'd work harder to be more professional. Every "So, and..." just grates. That said, these guys are so well-informed and so insightful and so absolutely fair and accurate and nuanced in their discussions (see the recent Ty Cobb episode--he doesn't deserve a revisionist history, and they nail it) that I just don't care. They know their baseball history. Keep it up, guys! You're great!

    Great show!
Given the lack of quality baseball history shows it’s nice to have this one. Always learn something new about this game.

    Fun podcast
I really enjoy hearing about the history of my favorite game! Takes me back to collecting baseball cards as a kid and watching the “original “ TWIB!!
  • JukeofUrl
They Got It All. . ..
Heard about TWIBH on another baseball podcast - and was immediately hooked. Other reviews have echoed my feelings - this truly is a home run of a baseball history show. The use of the TWIB theme alone would get this 5 stars from me. But that only starts the magic. Touch ‘em all fellas. . ..

    Required Listening
An absolute treat to listen to. They do a great job of shedding light to otherwise overlooked aspects of our national pastime. I hope this show has a very very long run.
