Sad the summer sesh has ended!
You all are the BEST! LOVED that you had a summer session! I never could have made it a whole summer without you. Especially not with all that’s happened to shift things in such a joyful, hopeful and engaging way in Presidential politics, which, shizzle runs down hill, so that will impact ALL of our politics, up and down the ballot in equally joyful, hopeful, energizing and engaging ways. And that TFG and all TFGs (including my own dad, mortifyingly so) are losing their friggin minds because of it is a lovely, tasty bonus indeed!! So, just thanks so much for all you do (including rewire newsgroup following me on Threads! Loved that!). 😘💙🌊

    Translates legalese effortlessly.
Whenever I'm feeling behind on news regarding reproductive rights in the USA, they're right there to get me caught back up again.

    Fantastic!
I luv listening to you both! It always feels like I’m listening to friends discuss subjects. I sometimes find myself yelling in agreement along with Imani and Jess. I work in abortion care, and appreciate your passion and dedication to keeping us informed.
  • Nerd but not a law nerd
"Love you, sailors. Your law's a little dry."
Love to listen to these ladies breakdown the law. Boom Lawyered, feels like I have two best friends who break down the latest supreme court decision and why it matters in a way that makes sense even if you are not a lawyer. Their enthusiasm is contagious. While, I'm never going to read a 200 page decision. They will. And I get the sense this is what they do for fun. They always seem to have a good time telling the story and explaining the arguments even when the decision doesn't come down their way.

    Useless Podcast
I had hoped to get an informed opinion from a more liberal viewpoint. But instead this is garbage jr. high level screaming into the microphone and throwing around insults. The only thing making this not a “Rush Limbaugh of the left” is the lack of moronic sound effects. Loads of fawning and hating of the respective people being mentioned on the podcast, but literally zero value in real information.
  • GunnarN45
Pls stop screaming into the mic!!
Y’all. Seriously. I love the content of your podcast. I too am very angry about the overturning of Affirmative Action. But your episode about this was unlistenable. For the love of my ears, please please PLEASE stop SCREAMING INTO THE MIC! If you’re screaming, I get it! Maybe lean back or something? Idk. But leaning INTO the mic WHILE SCREAMING is just incredibly painful to listen to. I don’t have time to listen with my finger on the volume button to turn it down and then back up every few seconds. If I don’t, your screaming is literally physically painful. I wish you’d stop so I can listen to your podcast. Oy.

    Ethical side piece
Let this awesome podcast be your “ethical sidepiece” to life! ❤️✌️😂

    One of my favorite podcasts
This podcast is great. It’s in-depth enough to really get at the heart of this issue and some how they infuse (sometimes dark) humor into such a dark issue during such a dark time. Plus living in Colorado, I love the little bits of local flair thrown in.

    Supreme Court made understandable!
The smart, passionate hosts of this podcast break down all the Court goings-on in a way everyone can understand. When I start to freak out about the latest rulings at least I can listen to Imani and Jessica give voice to the same concerns while they educate me and lay out all the implications of high court shenanigans. Appreciate them very much and I donated!

All Rise, Oh Yes Oh Yes!!!
Podcast Court is in session and Awesomeness is presiding. I borrowed six figures to spend four years in night law school and not a single professor, and I did have some excellent ones, did a better job of explaining the nuances of US law and theory than Jess and Imani. But this is no slog through the murky morass of arcane legal concepts. The law is explained in order to put it, most entertainingly, into the context of current events. This light of reason is fun, informative, badly needed and could not come at a better time. These two deserve lifetime appointments. But don't take my word for it, listen to an episode, Res Ipsa Loquitur!!

love the show, here’s something to think about
i love hearing you two break down what’s happening in politics in terms that non-lawyers can understand, thanks!! was listening to the latest episode, and something jess said stood out to me as it’s something i head a lot of people say, and it’s bothersome. when talking about scrutiny and covered groups jess mentioned that “women make up more of the population than black people.” to me, this statement has a similar effect as when people say “women and women of color.” that sort of language fundamentally others women of color and black women, and asserts that white women are women, the assumed norm. so when people talk about “women’s rights” or whatever they mean white women—they are the standard, the norm. so hearing that “women make up more of the population than black people” i’m like..okay so what about black women? where do we factor into that stat? which women are you referring to? white women and women of color? do black women exist? does “people” just mean “men?” i hope this makes sense, and I know jess didn’t mean anything by it. i just think it’s important how we frame things and choose words. ty for reading if you did.

    Brain explosion 🤯
Every episode makes my brain explode with the legal origami these women create with their words. To connect a case about pork production to the abortion struggle. Very well researched and presented in a fun yet educational way is a gift! It also makes me a little freaked out every episode. We are in trouble with the Courts.
  • cruzintheworld85
Stop what you are doing and listen to this!!!
How on earth have I not been listening to this?!?!? My new favorite podcast. Literally what anyone who is paying attention is thinking.

    Best podcast ever!
These ladies are seriously my favs. Been listening for just under 2 years and I pounce on each new podcast. They are hilarious, irreverent, and are just so knowledgeable about repro rights. Thank you SO much for bringing this podcast to the public and getting us all in the fight and bringing us up to speed, and being so godamn funny in the process. I don’t know how you do it, but please keep doing it!

My favorite way to learn about our current dystopia
Let’s be honest - talking about the state of reproductive freedom in this country can be depressing. And yet - Imani and Jess discuss these issues in a way that always leaves me with a bit of hope (or at least keeps me laughing through my tears). I get a bit smarter every time I listen to this pod and am really grateful to the hosts!
  • just right period.
    Roe

Favorite way to learn about the law
This podcast is exactly what I needed, two friends explaining complicated history, current events, and legal issues in a way that’s accessible, informative, and somehow very funny for such serious topics. It’s so good.

    Educational, Hilarious, and Essential Listening
Love every episode I have listened to. As someone that is not a lawyer, I have learned so much about our judicial system as it relates to current events! Please do more!

    Such a great podcast!
These ladies do such a great job of breaking down these legal issues in a way that makes sense AND is so entertaining! I’ve learned so much from them and have had the best time doing it. Must listen!!!

    Boom! Lawyered
This show breaks down complicated subject matter, including principles of law and legal arguments, into understandable and easily digestible bites, which are delivered with great humor. Makes and intellectual and detailed discussion of the law fun! Highly, highly recommend.

    Such Good Analysis
As a law student, I love the way you explain the law but really make it understandable. I constantly send the podcast to my parents and they love it because we can talk about about decisions and converse about the law. I appreciate you both!!

    Seriously? Y'all are the s*&t
Thank you Imani and Jess for bringing the REALNESS on your podcast!!! I'm an abortion provider and I am SUCH a huge fan. Your podcast has been so incredibly helpful for me in terms of understanding all the legal mumbo-jumbo that I never thought I would need to learn when I originally pursued a career in medicine! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing your thoughts, ideas and explanations with us all. Thank you for all the work you do and for being so goddamn funny while you do it! much <3 jane

    Thanks for being great
These two are hilarious and so informative. I’ve really appreciated everything I’ve learned from them about how the court system works so I can try to explain to idiots in my life that the president can’t make a governor rescind an executive order, and that you also can’t just take it to the Supreme Court. Thank you for giving me the tools to talk these people off the legal ledge.
  • Kmillerca
Interesting topics but cyber bullying not my thing
I found the podcast interesting and the topics thought promoting. The hosts are substantive, though it’s not where I’d go for a balanced debate. I won’t subscribe and listen rarely after checking out Gandy’s twitter page which is essentially her cyber bullying others and I’m not into that scene.
  • HCzebra
    Love love love this podcast
The two hosts manage to make me laugh multiple times per podcast while simultaneously feeling great anger. As an aging white boomer female can I say how GRATEFUL I am that these two very smart young women have taken on these issues?
  • Kathka17
    Enlightening and Entertaining
Not a dull oratory full of legal jargon. Anyone, regardless of their legal knowledge, can follow this.
  • yogiprofWI
    Fabulous
    Just fabulous. Love it!
  • frizztwizz
    Hosted by victim-blaming bully
Imani Gandy is completely hypocritical and uses her platform to bully others. She doesn’t practice or believe what she preaches. This work undermines the people who really care about reproductive justice.

    Wannabe Law Nerds, Listen Up
I look forward to this podcast (and the tweet threads) every week. They do a great job of explaining complex legal arguments in way that shows how it directly impacts you. All the while engaging in so much snark. It’s entertaining and horrifying the same time. The constant threat to our body autonomy is the horrifying part, not the snark, that’s a delight. A must listen to those on the fringes of any kind of activism, but also to just everyone else.
  • HayleSatan
    Must Listen
Excellent show. The hosts do an excellent job of explaining legal concepts while being entertaining, like having an engaging conversation with a couple of your more interesting friends.

    Excellent Empowering Pod
I recently discovered this podcast after Imani was featured on Unladylike. I loved listening to Imani’s interview on that show, so I knew I had to check out Boom Lawyered and I am so glad I did! I am currently in the throes of studying for the bar exam and this podcast has helped so much. Thanks to Boom Lawyered I can go for a walk as a study break and listen to this podcast and still feel like I’m studying! Thanks so much ladies! Keep the episodes coming!

Great podcast with a wonderful listener community
Not only is this a great Podcast, but the FaceBook group is also a supportive community. I asked an open question about law school and have gotten a ton of helpful advice. Thank you for facilitating the group and for the great podcast.

    Keep On Keeping On
I don’t know either of you personally but you bring the perfect blend of deep expertise and cornball humor to my ears. This handmaid wouldn’t know where to turn without you.
  • kwalshdenver
    Amazing!
I found you after hearing Imani talking with Ana Marie Cox on With Friends Like These (shameless name dropping). I’m now binging on your podcast and, as a recovering attorney it’s great to hear that law can be fun! Keep up the amazing work❤️
  • Ripley74
    Brilliant!
This is my first review of any podcast and I don’t know anyone on the show. That disclosure aside, this is a brilliant, “you must subscribe to this” podcast. As a former state prosecutor and current criminal defense attorney, I can say that the hosts are spot-on in their legal analysis. What I appreciate more is that they don’t fall into an opinion echo chamber. My other go-to podcast is Rachel Maddow, and these hosts have no problem constructively critiquing that show, for good reason. As a lawyer, I’m intrigued by the Russian collusion/money laundering/Constitutional crisis drama, but these hosts made the excellent point to not ignore all the other day-to-day illegal encroachment on individuals’ rights. Thanks for bringing me back! Also, these hosts can go toe-to-toe with any of the other “big name pundits” in terms of quality. Well done!
  • @bigdtim
Making legal analysis clear and relevant
These two are to the world of law as Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye are to the world of science.

    Thanks ladies!!
This is such a great listen, informative, detailed and still manages to be fun to listen to. Keep up the great work!

A plus gold star smiley face.
I really enjoyed the 1st amendment/crisis pregnancy center episode. Thank you for the discussion about these centers sprouting up in communities with vulnerable, poor and black communities. I work on human service state policy in the Midwest, this year concentrating on TANF funding (and making sure TANF is actually spent on cash assistance to families living in extreme poverty). To hear that these centers are getting the funding meant for these families. I cannot. Keep doing what you all are doing! Much appreciated. -@afropickme

    My law news central
Imani and Jess are able to disseminate today’s law news in a way that I, a non-legalese expert, can understand. They’re great and their passion for the law is clear. Don’t believe me? Give them a listen!
  • AuntBec
    Right to Freeload
I love your show, I love you ladies, and I love all of the ReWire family! Now that we have that out of the way ;) I really appreciate the episode on the Janus case, because Texas is a RTW State. I had an inkling of how it worked, but now I’m freaking out because as I understood in the podcast, it could become a federal law. How many times and ways did we say it was “about the courts”? Thanks again for the excellent show(s). Looking forward to the next one. B in T
  • JimmyJames64
Blog about the law without the legalese
Imani and Jess do a great job of breaking down the legalese and putting it in clear plain language that us non lawyers can understand, with clear examples showing the real life consequences. And they do it with jokes! Keep it up!

    Awesome Show
I dont' what else to say that hasn't been said, the show is fast paced and thrilling. Although the content can be a super downer, the happy warrrior attitudes of the hosts make it bearable and leave you more informed to resist the misogynist fever dreams of 1/3 of our fellow countrymen.

Shoutout to Imani from a fellow Obie
Team Legal delivers everything I look for in a podcast: information delivered succinctly, with humor and great rapport Following Imani on Twitter has helped keep me sane over the past year, and now I follow Jess too!
  • IamJadehawk
Team Legal Is Good For My Brain
I usually have the attention span of an overcaffeinated squirrel (#ADDcheckin), so information-dense podcasts are usually lost on me. But Imani and Jessica manage to present the issues in such a hilarious and entertaining way that my attention rarely drifts. Thank you so much for the work you're doing!
