B-ball ZackBring back Paul reedNice to know there are other sixers fans whose sicko mindset bleeds into music. Give Cartwheel by Hotline TNT a go if you get the chance. Awesome record, feels like a great leap forward for shoegaze/nu-metal in modern music. love the show!

MG42069Extremely pleasant music review podcastPlease review Stage Four by Touché Amore. It’s a gut punch of an album about the death of the lead singer’s mom. I haven’t lost anyone close to me really but it still hits really hard They have a new album coming out and the singer was just on the Watch pod with Chris Ryan talking about it
-
SbrlungExcellent listenNot sure how I stumbled on to this wonderful podcast. I never heard Spike mention it on the radio. Glad I did! Have listened to a lot of music podcasts over the years, none are this in depth. Keeps me entertained on drive home from work and walking dog. I do have a suggestion What’s Going On, Marvin Gaye. Great story on how he convince Motown to let him make a “ protest” record. Still incredibly timely

Homestyle Dinner RollsHomestyle Dinner RollsSpike and Mutlu always knock it out of the park with this music appreciation pod cast. This pod is for music lovers. I have found some amazing artists through them. If you are music lover this is for you. Spike and Mutlu my 16 year son introduced me to a new group called homestye dinner rolls. They are a new group that is not main stream yet. Our favorite song is taken but I like all the songs they have dropped. Love to hear you talk about them on your pod. Amy

The DonastyTwenty One Pilots - BlurryfaceI really enjoyed the latest podcast regarding Bush Sixteen Stone album. I saw the band Twenty One Pilots live first at a free concert and was instantly hooked. After that concert they shortly released the album Blurryface and it is one of my favorite albums of all time. I would like to hear your thoughts! Thank you for the consideration :)

quentinrdBest way to find new musicI’ve found so much “new” (for me) music through CLRC … it’s a fabulous and unique pod. Just the right mix of opinion, observation, enthusiasm and humor. It’s also a go to antidote for dealing with the perils of being a Sixers fan ….. And I’ll throw in recommendation for Horrible Crowes’ Elsie (Ladykiller, Sugar, Behold the Hurricane being the best songs) for a future show. Might not make the cut … but I wouldn’t have found it except for CLRC inspiring me to look for new stuff.

JoseDarezNice podWould like to hear your thoughts on Patent Pending by Heavens.

knowledgeforuSay The NameGreat range for the reviews. Really appreciate that the dynamic duo covers all genres. Dripfield review was great. Please review Shenanigans Nite Club. Killer album.

Aliceinchains1994Love you guysAs a musician it’s great finally listening to some music analyzers who actually know what their talking about. I would love to hear your take on the 2000 album White Pony by Deftones. It’s just an incredible album that totally defined the alt/rock scene back when it came out. I’m biased because I’m a huge Deftones fan but I’d say it’s maybe one of the best albums ever.
-
ES1025Awesome podcast, suggested album reviewLove the podcast! Would love to hear a review of “Curcuna” by Vahe Sarkissian. It’s an eastern fusion album.
-
HindsIsMyHeroFantastic music podcastGrowing up, I always wanted a music review outlet to better understand music. This podcast is everything I seemed in my youth. I love what you both are doing! Young Thug’s Jeffrey is likely the most complete album from Young Thug, one of hip hop’s most unique acts. Fair warning, don’t critically review the lyrics, Thugger isn’t known for his lyricism but for his flow and unique sounding tracks. Enjoy!
-
MakeScottishAccentsGreatAgainDoing Gods Work.Five stars for spending time on John Scofield’s A Go Go. Incredible jazz album. Wonderful late night cocaine soundtrack.
-
SlayHisWigOffLove the podcast! So much new music to discover from this. Heard Lexie Liu’s episode recently and you’ll might wanna check out her latest album “The Happy Star”, rated second highest on Mandopop chart on RYM. Would be intrigued by your reaction!

Latchkey projectWitness Relocation ProgramHey guys, I’m newer to the pod, but I have been plowing through the back catalogue. I really like the format and enjoy the takes (even for bands I don’t generally care for haa). I grew up in philly, but I was molded as a kid/musician by the general DC punk/Dischord records scene from the 80’s/90’s…hard for me to pick one but I feel like “In on the kill taker” by Fugazi is the album I would have to choose. Well, either way, thanks fellas. It’s great seeing an episode fall in ye ol pod feed weekly, Keep up the great work! -Kelt
-
Blo1995Gold Diggers SoundWould love to hear you guys cover Leon Bridges’ most recent album, Gold Diggers Sound. Great podcast. Mutlu adds a musicians perspective and Spike has both quite the listener palette and the Bill Simmons Esque knack (both here and in RTRS) to be both slightly annoying but also one of the most intriguing people that you can’t quit listening to on any subject he’s passionate about
-
Rock_it_manAppreciationRevisit classics and discover your new favorite jams with this pod. The Carl features an eclectic group of albums which is especially great for those who enjoy a variety of genres. Spike and Mutlu bring insight, perspective and good vibes. Album Suggestion: Orca (Deluxe) (2021) by Gus Dapperton

chris beldenAlbum Request: Preachers Daughter by Ethel CainFirst off.. you guys rock and I love the podcast. Making a request to review Ethel Cain’s debut album Preachers Daughter. Started listening to it a few days ago and can’t stop! Her lyric writing seems very advanced it is hard to believe this is her first album. The music has a sweeping cinematic quality to it as well that supports her story telling about growing up in the american south. Really hope you guys like this one as much as i currently do. Warning: there are very few, if any, songs under 4mins.

Addison RobsTook me a minute but I dig it!I really like it. Once I realized what the format was it really grew on me. Just two guys talking about tunes and loving music. I think they are growing to be more 30,000 ft in their approach. Moving from “here was my experience” to “this was the cultural experience and here’s how my experience tied in” which adds a really neat element. Recommendations. Real one: Matt Nathanson At The Point Live Album. Such a weird experience. I don’t LOVE most of MN’s studio recordings (there are exceptions of course like Bill Murray) but he nails this live album. It just feels like he is hanging out with the crowd and it is in Philly so that is really neat too. Long Shot: MeWithoutYou - Brother Sister This album is so good and so weird and features Jeremy Enigk. This is a Christian Band but not really. They are on a christian label but very alternative. They are also a Philly band and they are actually on their final tour this summer (2022).
-
Sean_JawnThe CarlGreat pod to discover new music and learn some more about your favorites. Album recommendation: Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrox After hearing it for the first time their label drops them. Wilco puts the album online, signs with a new label, and it becomes a classic. They’re labeled the American Radiohead and become one of the greatest American rock bands of all time. It’s also interesting that Jeff Tweedy and Jay Bennett were codependent addicts during the making of the album. Which was a big reason why Bennett leaves the band after the album is released. The documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart is an amazing behind the scenes look at the making of the album.

The_KO_ShowSpike needs to honestly review the Chili PeppersIn the true spirit of the podcast: Music Appreciation, and in trying to give a second listen to a band that I believe Spike despises, I present: Red Hot Chili Peppers: By The Way album. I believe this to be the bands finest album sonically. John Frusciante crushes and the polarizing Anthony Kiedis has some high points as well. Cant wait to hear Spikes honest discord on this album and RHCP in general.
-
DJud32Two album suggestionLove the show. Would love if you did Wormfood or Downers by Jamaican Queens!!
-
Hinkie Lives OnTwo album recommendations for the show1. Drunk Tank Pink by shame 2. Being So Normal by Peach Pit

JoeyDel11Good podIf you’re into trying new music that you may not have been exposed to, its a good listen. Artists vary across many different genres. Request: DON BROCO - Amazing Things If you’re into a rock band that spans multiple genres
-
Postal League 3849ersGreat Pod, you guys should…Do an episode where you both get stoned and talk about the Albums. Try “in mind” by New Jersey’s finest indie band Real Estate. Cheers! - Jordan
-
stephen5511Great podcastLove the podcast! I would love to hear you check out the Titus Andronicus album The Monitor. Also, Diarrhea Planet’s (don’t be turned off because of the name) album Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams is totally worth a listen. I’d love to see punk music get some love on the pod.
-
SimmoTheSavagegreat music podEnjoy the interesting takes and deep dives into the albums. Recommend reviewing Baroness, either the Yellow and Gold or Purple albums. Lead singer John Baizley is a Philly guy, and also does the crazy awesome artwork on the covers. P.S. Please bring back the Art of the Take!!!!

not mentally ready to reviewRamshackle Glory - Live The Dream^ album suggestion, maybe a little outside the box for you guys, but one of my favorite albums from my teenage years with some serious content to talk about
-
gabriel_perez26Alt PodI get a kick out of the idea of someone not knowing what the **** the Ricky is and just liking Spike and Mutlu organically, enjoying a great pod that talks about interesting albums. Album suggestions are The Monitor by Titus Andronicus and On The Impossible Past by the Menzingers
-
Timmy SeanCame from the Ricky pod…Got hooked on the Ricky pod during the pandemic, saw Spike wearing a Butch Walker shirt on one of the episodes a few months back (which will always grab me), and then saw guys were covering FoW’s first album, so now hooked here too. If you’re a fan of either of those acts, I’m gonna do a shameless plug for my new powerpop concept album I wrote and recorded during the pandemic “A Tale From The Other Side.” Hope y’all dig it and really happy I found this from Ricky! Best, Timmy Sean

Paul JammiesCouple of weird albums from the Electric Circus guyReally enjoyed the ep you guys did on EC and thought I’d recommend a few other albums that I’ve found similarly confounding. First is Fantasma by Cornelius. It goes back and forth between indie rock to sort of sound collages and maybe even hip hop influenced music at various parts of the album. He’s been called Japan’s Beck and I think that fits. Two other albums that I think would be great on the show are New Amerykah pt 1 by Erykah Badu and Channel Orange by Frank Ocean. Two neo soul classics from about a decade ago.

billg543Love the CarlGreat podcast to talk and learn about new music. Great hearing discussion of some of my favorites (Arctic Monkeys, My Bloody Valentine) and being introduced to great stuff i've never heard before (Kate Bush, Gang of Youths). I disagree with some of the takes though. I listen to the pod at 1.8x which i know is highly frowned upon amongst these parts. I also love the boss and going to his 4+ hour concerts because his music is good enough to fill that amount of time. Anyways, thanks for the great pod. Love the Carl, love the Ricky, love the Sixers. My suggestion is Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes, an absolute all-timer in my books. P.S. I have a list of all the records you've covered on Rate Your Music. Including the records you covered with Mike on the Ricky, William Bell's The Soul of a Bell was the 100th record of the CLRC. Congrats and keep up the great podcasting

clnmchThank uPlease review “Exploded Drawing” by Polvo. It’s a fantastic record from ‘96 and the way they arrange guitars is extremely interesting
-
tomds215Carl ForeverChanging up my pick because it’s a package of singles which is against the sensibilities of the Carl. The pod is one of my favorites out there and there is truly nothing else like it . 10 Mutlus . Oh and the album is Jaime by Brittany Howard
-
gbhenryA healing album about death…Love the pod, it keeps getting better with each episode. The album I’m suggesting you both listen to is Hospice by the Antlers. It tells the story of a caregiver and a patient with a terminal illness- it also serves as a metaphor for a toxic relationship (much like the one I have with the 6ers). The singer spent years post the release of this album trying to distance himself from it (it’s autobiographical). Years later after surgery to repair issues with his vocal chords he ends up having to sing all of these as part of his vocal therapy to heal.
