    Awesome podcast!
Gavin and Matthew take us through the SAW catalog with an extensive knowledge of the songs/artists, as well as great interviews with many of the people involved. I truly appreciate how they sometimes ask those tough, good probing questions in an empathetic and non-judgmental manner. They’ve also introduced me to some great tracks I wasn’t aware of such as Sonia’s “Better than Ever”, Mandy Smith’s catalog and some Princess tracks that I’m discovering for the first time. Keep up the terrific job guys. Thank you!

An In Depth Look at Every SAW Single
I was already a huge fan of Dead or Alive and Kylie. And sure there are plenty of SAW singles i love; but this podcast has exposed me to SO MUCH MORE! I look forward to each episode!

Wonderfully thorough and full of passion!
I suspect there is a booming amount of interest in PWL after the recent UK documentary aired, and having been a listener to this podcast since the first episode, I’ll say: it’s a PERFECT accompaniment to what folks saw on the TV documentary. On screen, we got a quick, incisive overview of the beginning, middle and end…but on this podcast, we get a DEEP narrative about every step in the Stock / Aitken / Waterman journey. Gavin and Matthew are so passionate about the music and the narrative. I wish I hadn’t already been such a devoted SAW fan, because hearing the story and the music for the first time through THEIR ears would have been wonderful. That said, they still cover songs I didn’t know about and speak to people I’ve rarely (if ever) heard interviewed, as an American PWL fanatic. Long story short: Gavin and Matthew have a fun, informative and easy to listen to podcast that truly celebrates a magical era in pop music. I gave it five stars, and with so many more exciting stories to tell (I wrote this in early-2023, as the guys are just getting into 1989), I’m sure that five star mark will hold even stronger with time.

    A must-listen!
I love this podcast so much. So insightful, well-researched and informative. Also, it’s just so much fun to listen to. Matt and Gavin are experts in podcasting, and clearly they are also good friends. Their banter (and, yes, Gavin’s singing!) add to my enjoyment. I eagerly look forward to each new episode - and the bonus materials! As a US fan, I’m learning so much… especially about the major differences at that time in our charts vs. the rest of the world’s. This podcast is a true masterclass on one of my very favorite topics. A real treasure.

Amazing Treasure Trove for PWL Fans
I don’t really like podcasts and have a very short attention span but I’m a huge fan of Stock/Aitken/Waterman and PWL Studios. If you have any interest in either, this is such fascinating and essential listening. I’m only halfway into the currently released episodes but there have so many amazing revelations. I’ve been a hardcore PWL fan from the Cafe80s days and these two are consistently coming up with so much new info and presenting it with humor and charm. I absolutely cannot recommend this enough. At least listen to the Pepsi and Shirlie, Roland Rat, and Mandy Smith episodes, you’ll be hooked.

    Blow by blow deep dive
Stumbled across this through a twitter link and have been all-in ever since. For lovers of the music business, pop music and SAW in particular this is a wonderfully produced enthusiastically presented podcast. Really loving it.

    Amazing
I came across this podcast about a week ago and have already blazed through 10 episodes. Such an interesting listen and full of really great insights. As someone whose first record at the age of 11 was I Should Be So Lucky, this podcast is perfect. It reminds me of when a new copy of smash hits would come out and I would devour it from cover to cover soaking up all of the stories, news and gossip. Nice job and thank you!

    A journey paved with gems
Wow. This podcast is lovingly crafted and extraordinarily detailed. I’m amazed by all the source material these guys have unearthed—from exclusive current interviews to fan magazines from back in the day. You think you can find everything these days from a Google search, but not for this kind of music. American fans like me only know a fraction of these songs. I have burned through the entire run so far and am now on a second listen! Get the bonus material if you possibly can.

    Music+80’s=Excellence, like this podcast
My musical passions are firmly in the 1980’s. I’m from Australia and my musical tastes were always more British and European (Pop) than American (Rock). SAW are from a time when often who produced the record was as important, if not more important than the artist singing the song. When I listen to Gavin and Matt, the hosts of A Journey Through Stock Aitken & Waterman, I hear myself and my best friend all this years ago, listening to the latest single while pouring over the credits that were fueling our discussion (the bus ride home with the I Should Be So Lucky 12” is a particularly strong memory). They have a real love and respect for this music and it shows in every episode. This podcast is as much a ”must have” as the songs themselves.

    Addicting!
I remember listening to You Spin Me ‘Round for the first time and went straight out to buy the 12” single and proceeded to play it constantly. Then it was Kylie and Rick. But it was only after Donna’s This Time I Know It’s For Real that I realized the sound I liked so much was created by the same production team of Stock Aitken Waterman…DUH! I then spent my 30’s trying to hunt down any record that had ANY affiliation to PWL which was quite a challenge living in America. My timing was also unfortunate as SAW had broken up shortly after I started collecting but thanks to the internet and Jeremy Kay’s wonderful SAW/PWL discography I was able to amass a pretty decent collection. Now, many years later comes this wonderful podcast from Gavin and Matt that offers so much information and insight behind the creation of the music I spent so much time and money collecting. The amount of time and research they have put in to create these episodes must be enormous and I for one am truly grateful for their efforts. I find it fascinating to hear the interviews of the people Gavin and Matt have been able connect with and look forward to all the upcoming episodes. Keep up the good work guys!

    I finally feel seen
As a guy who grew up loving this music genre, I’ve found myself over the years feeling like I was alone in my obsession with early Dead or Alive, Rick Astley and the iconic Kylie Monogue. No longer. The hosts speak my language—from the snippets of tracks they love best, to deep dives on the extended remixes I couldn’t get enough of at the time. It’s a love letter and a trip down a nostalgic Memory Lane—plus, the interviews and back stories help me hear the SAW collection in a whole new way. Viva ChartBeats!

    Simply wonderful.
This is a podcast for anyone who loves music. Yes, the focus is on SAW singles. But even if you’re only somewhat familiar with that history, the insight and the stories behind the music are fascinating. Lots of great interviews and always a few surprises. The production of the podcast is excellent. The research is meticulous yet concise. Cheers to our hosts, because they’ve created a gem.

    Wow fantastic
For me, SAW’s music represents my years of youthful optimism. In fact, I got back into their music during the pandemic (As a reaction against the hard times) this podcast was perfect timing. I’ve discovered a lot of songs I had forgotten about. Thank you guys, you rock!

    Outstanding!!!
I am so happy I found this podcast. Brings back so many memories. The deep dive and the depth and complexity with which the hosts reflect on the music of SAW is impressive and incredibly interesting. Hearing clips of these old songs brings back so many memories of a wonderful time in music history. And the interviews with the artists that they painstakingly search down for the podcast is the icing on the cake. Highly recommend. Would love to give this 10 stars. Thank you so much for this podcast it has absolutely become my favorite podcast these days. I’ve binged every single episode back to back LOL. 😊🙏
