Stay Off My Operating Table

67
Medicine #43

I was a morbidly obese heart surgeon.

All through high school, college, med school and surgical training, I followed the U.S. dietary guidelines for both diet and exercise.  Yet nothing I did kept the weight off.

I just kept getting fatter and fatter.

Each day in surgery, I would split open the chests of people just like me. I knew I was heading for the operating table myself if I didn't find solutions that worked.

In 2016, I finally found a way to lose 100 pounds and keep it off.

Now - in addition to doing heart surgery - I work to help people just like me get healthy, lose the weight and keep it off.

I'm Dr. Philip Ovadia, the rebel M.D. and cardiac surgeon who is working to keep people off my operating table.

    “bad virus”?
Why in 171 does the guest refer to Covid as the “bad virus” over and over again and didn’t want to say long Covid? Midways through she also surprised with falling on ice and hitting her head. Seemed out of context. I found this episode very odd.

    Not all correct
This podcast presents biased and incomplete info. There are better podcasts available.

Content gets 5 stars, Jack the host gets zero
After listening to many episodes I’ve come to the conclusion that the guests and content is very educational and interesting but they keep getting interrupted and derailed from the comments of the host Jack. He continuously interrupts and asks, I’m sorry but the dumbest questions. I think this podcast could step it up a notch and get a more educated host to speak with the guests then it would be 5 stars.

    The Content is excellent
The information from the doctor and his guests is really informative and excellent. I wish we could hear less from Jack the moderator.

  • Normally Lazy...
    Must listen!
This is excellent. The team interviews interesting people each week. I’ve ended up following most of the guests on their social media. I’ve changed my lifestyle quite a bit with the information provided.

Please get a new podcast host!
The host of the show (Jack) needs to be replaced by a more educated and less annoying person. His constant interruptions and dumb comments greatly detract from the potential educational value of the podcast.

Real talk from a Heart Surgeon.
Dr. Ovadia delivers on his knowledge of metabolic health. He breaks it down for the lay person in easy to understand ways. His co-host Jack Heald, embraces this role with poignant questions and enthusiasm. This is a must listen for anyone interested in improving their health.
