Holy Ghosting

44

Meg & Sarai are former church kids who came of age in 80s and 90s American Evangelicalism - We are Holy Ghosting

In each episode, we tackle healing from our youthful experiences and the harm we endured and perpetrated as American Evangelicals, and we laugh, we're sarcastic ladies.

We're working to reconstruct a community that gives a shit about our neighbors. Join us as we work to tear down the American foundation of patriarchy and white supremacy and rebuild a better world with equity and equality as Ex-Christians.

    So Relatable
Just found these ladies! Coming from the Last Days Ministries side, DTS, I didn’t think I would find anyone I could closely relate with but this hit the mark so much. I’m 2 episodes in but can’t wait to listen to each one!

    Irresponsible
Couldn’t get past these irresponsible pet owners laughing about not spaying/neutering their cats, contributing to overpopulation and overflow of animal shelters.

    Healing
So healing for me to listen to these ladies as a 40 year old woman deconstructing her own evangelical upbringing!

So much love and appreciation for this show
This show is beautiful and so validating. Listening has been a huge part of my own healing journey from a high control (para)-religious group and all the things that went with it, like purity/rape culture and psycho-emotional and sexual abuse. I’ve been on this journey for 4 years now and learning to trust my intuition and gut instincts for the first time in my life. It’s so powerful for anyone coming out of an environment of shame, gaslighting, and constant self-doubt and questioning of our own realities to hear others share their stories and healing journeys back to the true self. Thank you ❤️

    I feel seen
Besides making me LOL, Holy Ghosting has validated so much of my experience. Sarai, Meg, and Lindsey are so great. I love that their convos reject that there is one “right” way to be spiritual and instead focus on diverse individual stories. I found them in Nov 23 and am almost caught up on all episodes. Fav so far: Convo with DL Mayfield. Thanks for your great content!!!

    Love this podcast
Love this podcast. It’s funny, it’s tragic, it’ll make you cry, it’ll make you shoot your drink out your nose if you’re not careful. So helpful to hear from people who have *also* transitioned away from Christianity and the church culture for reasons similar to myself. Can’t recommend this podcast enough.

This podcast means so much to me
I just listen to the podcast that’s me in the corner. It is now late October and this is when my somatic pain normally kicks up connected with the abuse that Dr. Dobson taught our parents to inflict on us. I found this podcast and it has just been“healing balm to my wounds”. but actually for real, not the way the Christians use the term. I feel so connected to each of you. thank you so much for being here and showing up and sharing your stories, and letting all of us know that we’re not alone. I’m letting all of us know that what happened to us was not OK. You get me. As I sit here with an ice pack on my chest, lol.

    My childhood revisited
When listening to this show, it’s like I gave them notes from my childhood. It’s cathartic to listen and laugh about the craziness that many 80s and 90s teens raised in Evangelicalism experienced. My bestie and I have to have a conversation about each episode and compare it to our shared experiences. I’ve also realized it was better for those of us from the 80s since we didn’t have to read the Josh Harris book. This podcast is a must for those who have left Evangelicalism after becoming adults.

    Worth the time to listen
These women tell it like it was and in such an engaging way! Always with practical, rubber meet the road solutions. They’re witty, thought provoking and funny to boot!!

    For the recovering evangelical
If you grew up in the church and are trying to heal from some or all of the toxic messages that so many of us got you will probably relate and enjoy this podcast. I appreciate the open and vulnerable conversations they all have on this podcast!

    I love this disruption!
This show is the disruption we are looking for when it comes to healing the wounds caused by evangelical Christianity. I started listening to the podcast and became so hopeful about what these women are doing as part of their healing journey. Give it a listen. It is really great!

I was 100% there- in the Midwest
My attorney told me about your podcast :-) I’m enjoying so far and can completely relate. AWANA, VBS, youth group, church camp, Teen Mania, ATF, purity rings, WWJD, etc etc I’ve been trying to work through this stuff for the past 20 years. I don’t think teenage me would even recognize adult me, and I have mixed feelings about it. I’ve gotten divorced, had a child out of wedlock, voted for a Democrat, completely stopped going to church during the pandemic. I’m still a Christian…but it’s complicated. The hardest part is: What do I teach my child?
