Billy Salmon SavageEntertaining & InformativeThe show is well produced, and the sound engineering sounds good. They have interesting guests and provide a lot of information for Western backpack style hunting.

Archery GarageThis podcast stands the test of time. These guys keep showing up year after year. Follow this podcast if you want savvy intel on bowhunting and gear. You won’t be disappointed.
-
7SaumJoshTag LineListening to today’s Monday minute you talk about needing a tag line for Exo. Then you dive right into talking about every stitch and inch being purpose built on your packs…Exo Mountain Gear - Purpose Built Packs. Love the content! Thanks! Josh

CakotadeverlyNo ads!I just decided I was going to archery hunt this year and have been binge listening to this podcast. Love that there’s no ads and an unbiased range of guests. Lots of entertaining banter keeps it feeling relatable as they’re all just normal guys. Also cool to know most of them are Boise guys as well! Looking forward to my first bow/backpack hunt.

TEc294Nothing betterGreat people and great content!

crestwoodcrna0123From packs to rafts to meatRealistic and informative with interesting content. I don’t always agree but they’re not BSing just different points of view and they’re open about it. Great gear tips and stories to learn from as well.

YaakRiverOutfitterBest Backcountry Hunting PodcastI’m still getting caught up on all of the podcasts but I have yet to find one that didn’t provide entertainment and/or solid gear or technique info. It’s the one podcast that I consistently recommend to hunting clients if they ask.
-
WapitiSpokesBest Outdoors / Hunting pod out thereMark and Steve do everything right. They don’t waste your time, talk straight, provide new ideas with supporting data. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work guys! As demonstrated in the Feb. 10th podcast, you are always going to get negative comments from guys that are either not eloquent or just not nice people. Ignore them. (I also love the retail experience and support from Rob McConnell).

South Hills Precision RiflesDecent PodcastDecent podcast the archery stuff is better that the firearms content, the masked voice “expert” is mildly annoying
-
Andy Smith the gunsmithGreat showGood info based on their experience and they don’t push their gear constantly, unbiased and informative
-
matt kim.Best of the bestBest, most unbiased outdoor show that’s out there.

Mini he'llGoodPodcast is good but I’ve lost a lot of interest after hearing all the promotions for small caliber. Thought they were done but they’re still on it. Clearly “form” is the end all be all of rifle hunting. I’ll try back in a few months.
-
Tony PhiferBest podcast out thereAbsolutely love this podcast. Mark and Steve along with their guests provide unbiased information and aren’t trying to sell us on things. Keep up the great work and great content. Thanks guys.
-
WangchinglimTime well spentI’ve learned so much listening to this podcast over the last 6 months. The detail and actual evidence based practice recommendations have been next level. Thanks for the info.
-
parkerscaggsBest Informational Hunting PodcastI’ve just about listened to every hunting podcast out there and this is by far the most educational, least biased one out there for reliable info. Steve and Mark’s experienced based info is the best out there IMO. They don’t push any products or brands.

6789843$:;?Good hunting podcastI have listened to this podcast for hundreds of episodes, and even own an Exo pack, but I can’t do it anymore - I had to unsubscribe. Mark is a good host, but Steve is a difficult listen. He has an overinflated sense of self (that clearly comes through in his speech), and as a result, seems comfortable speaking well out of his knowledge base. An example would be a few months back on an episode where Steve was confidently espousing the merits of the 6.5 Creedmore (which I am a fan of, while remaining aware of it’s limitations). Steve made dangerous and irresponsible recommendations about this caliber and it’s suggested use, even though his background is in archery, not rifles. He has admittedly come to rifles quite recently, so it is impossible for him to have a knowledge base requisite to the confidence level he possesses. This is irresponsible for someone in a trusted position of sharing knowledge. This makes me doubt whether any of the information he gives is based on any real knowledge or experience, thus undermining any usefulness to be found in the podcast as a whole. This is a shame, because Mark has obviously put a great deal of work into making this a useful resource for people, but the business owner seemingly has to add his two cents in when he clearly has no place doing so.

Earth's EndSuperb Information and fun, as wellAlways very informative and entertaining.

T2023yeyhevsbdhrjirjeGreat podcastTons of great info!

CoopR85Practical, Useful, not SalesyBest hunting podcast out there by far. Why? They want you to succeed because you’re a hunter not because you’re a customer. What does that mean? - Unbiased (besides packs) advise on gear. - Practical tips that actually make you a better hunter - What’s worth spending money on or not - Free resources (gear lists, how to videos, nutrition guides, workout plans, etc.) - No BSing you, like ever. They give it to you the info simply and make it easy to understand, without a major sales pick behind any of it. If anyone is new to hunting or wants to be a better hunter, I don’t think there is a better podcast/resource than The Hunt Backcountry Podcast / The Experience Project and the team at EXO Mountain Gear.

YaakRiverOutfittersI advise all my hunting clients to listen!Gear (including clothing) questions are by far the most common questions I get from hunting clients ask. Most often, they want to know what I use and why. I do my best to answer them but always advise them to listen to hunt backcountry for more thorough answers, reviews and advice.

Archer32Great Backcountry Hunting ResourceThere’s a lot to be learned here. I love that this podcast isn’t sponsor driven. Much of what Steve and Mark share could really cut down a guys learning curve in the backcountry. After having failed many times in the backcountry, I find myself nodding my head yes to a lot of the information that they share, that I had to learn the hard way. Keep up the good work. I always look forward to a new episode dropping.
-
55MAW55Excellent ResourceGreat podcast full of educational material free from a marketing slant. Thank you for your honest approach Exo! Never change!
-
NantzhBest backcountry podcaatThis is easily the best podcast available for the backcountry hunter.
-
HammerDick5151Best western hunting podcastHands down the best. No sponsors, nobody is bought and paid for so you get the most honest gear reviews. The guests are experts in their fields and are all applicable in western hunting. Couldn’t ask for much more.
-
MnMskierAwesome content! One of the best hunting podcasts out there. Unbiased, no ads or sponsors, and no sales-driven agenda! Yes, Exo is a backpack company, but this podcast sticks to providing helpful information and thoughtful discussions on topics that every western hunter should consider.
-
Dude 105?/!Honest KnowledgeHard to find honest podcasts that aren’t sponsored. Yes they have a backpack company but they aren’t sponsored by any other company and make honest reviews of gear and equipment! EXO backpacks are amazing and they are great to deal with!!!!
-
eBayiscoolSo informative and enjoyable.I find Mark and Steve informative and enjoyable to listen to. I have to be honest that I originally avoided this podcast forever because I assumed it would be a commercial for Exo packs. It is not that at all. It is actually surprising how little they push their product. They cover about anything you need to consider when hunting back country and I feel better for listening and learning from them.
-
Cole Boy 63Great discussions and info, even for this vicarious backcountry hunterI discovered this podcast several years ago, but after my three elk hunting experiences (all in Colorado). These guys are well experienced and they are very effective with their discussions and format. They make a great backpack, but they don’t center the motive of their discussions around shoving their product down my throat. Their experiences and their effectiveness of sharing and describing the details convinces me enough. And even though I can’t make it back to hunt the backcountry, their discussions “take me there” and keep me ready and motivated to return when that opportunity presents.
-
COelkhuntrTips Based on ExperienceThis podcast is what it is all about. Recommendations based on experience.
-
Red One Checking InGreat podcast, even for the aspiring backcountry hunterI have been listening to this podcast for years and have yet to even think about a backcountry objective but their talks tips and trips have made me a more solid front country hunter. Besides, how much classic rock can one person handle. Listen to the best podcast instead. Thanks guys.
-
SeanazizExcellent info for backcountryI’ve been listening to this show for a couple months. I’ve found that there is a lot of really useful and practical info for backcountry hunting. The hosts also do a good job of cutting through marketing claims of various products and have down-to-earth approach on hunting and gear selection.
-
SplatekOne of the best! This podcast is one of the best for any hunting style. The new experience project is a wealth of information. The ballistics/small caliber episodes… mind blowing. Thanks!
-
Elkchayser468Pack episode spot on thats a good session without being overly biased love the exo K3 but itv may be time for a K 4 ! Thanks for another informative episode!
-
AK-cowboySuper informative!Love the podcast, can’t recommend it enough. As someone who’s getting into the sphere of backpack hunting, lots of good information here!
-
Dennis Rackersoutstanding wealth of knowledge for backcountry adventureI discovered this podcast in September 2018, and I'm still working through the archive of older episodes. For hunting the backcountry, the wealth of knowledge from such a variety of guests just isn't available anywhere else. While waiting for whitetails in November, I was surprised and delighted to find a interview with Andrew Skurka and to learn that he is a hunter. Andrew is known for his long-distance backpacking, esp. a 5,000-mile trek across Alaska.

AJ190000000BackcountryI only listen to 1 podcast, this is it. Great informative hunting, hiking and outdoors content.

Steve from the PNWInformative, Interesting, “Right-Sized”Been a listener of the show for years. Steve and Mark do an incredible job of breaking down all things western hunting. Gear, mindset, fitness, nutrition: it’s all here. One thing I really appreciate is that they have not succumb to the length creep that other shows have. Most of us don’t have the time or attention span for episodes longer than two hours. I also love that despite their connection to their own product, they don’t have any ties to other gear and they present an unbiased opinion of what they use and why they use it which is often backed up with real work experience. Always enjoy the death hike planning and recap episodes every year. Keep the great content coming gents!
-
Thow*Top notchIncredible to have such a deep pool of knowledge without sponsorships calling into question the legitimacy of the information. I taught myself how to hunt elk and mule deer with a huge amount of help from this show.
-
St. ArchiteuthisGreat showGuys, I thoroughly enjoy the content, discussion and delivery. Love the interviews with the state departments of fish and game/parks and wildlife as well as the recent discussions with fitness experts from Cal State Fullerton with a focus on the aging backcountry athlete. Keep up the good work.
-
Salty YakMy Fav!!!Y'all are my favorite podcast! I look forward to each and every episode! I am still new to backpack hunting at the young age of 56😂 and I glean something from every podcast! Thank you all for doing this! I know it is not easy.
-
iration420Continuous Hunter InformationThis podcast is one that I can always learn something from regarding hunting. Some other podcasts tend to venture off into politics and other topics. This one is motivational and sticks to the point… hunting. No b.s adds or endorsements. Keep it up! Love listening to every episode
-
WiserjAlways a staple to listen toMark and Steve and their guests (even Jake on occasion) do a good job of telling stories, asking questions, answering listener questions etc. Been listening to them since beginning. Learned a bunch over the years. Thanks for doing a great job.
-
jmani24No fluff. Right to the good stuff! These guys get right to the point! I love it
-
zchfntnOne of the fewOne of the few podcasts I listen to every episode Mark and Steve are a wealth of information and Mark does a great job both finding and engaging with guests that are interesting and relevant to western DIY hunters. Great job guys!
-
Noobish_HunterSimple, helpful informationI find pretty much every episode of this podcast to be helpful and informative. They never seem to be speaking over my head (I’m a noob hunter) and I don’t get the impression that more seasoned hunters can’t find something new to learn. I *LOVE* that the show isn’t sponsored by anyone (other than Exo themselves, obviously), so I don’t have to wade through all the trash ads that seem to be infesting all of my other podcasts lately. These guys just really seem to love what they are doing, and want to make everyone a better hunter.
-
jjnv72Great way to keep the hunting vibe during the off season! This podcast stands out as one of the best hunting podcasts out there. Real hunting stories, real world (non-sponsored) gear discussions and a informative discussions and advice for guys and gals that might be trying to learn something new in the world of hunting.
-
Ozark HunterGreat resource for backcountry huntingThe Backcountry Hunting podcast is a great resource for information pertaining to strategies associated with hunting in the backcountry, as well as moving through and existing in the mountains in general. The information provided is applicable and easily incorporated into a backcountry strategy. The podcast overall is not a gear advertisement platform, but rather productive discussion about strategies and what actually works.
-
JIngram2Great ContentThere is so much to learn from this podcast. I am a relatively seasoned hunter but regularly find new information on tactics and equipment that is very helpful.
-
Benny98407Getting played outInterviews with “adult onset hunters” about their guided Montana side by side elk hunting trip is not what I signed up for. I am disappointed in how far their content has degenerated and now this feels like another me too hunting podcast that is hotspotting and encouraging more and more crowding while hawking gear and gizmos. Peace, I’m out, for good.
-
GfreidyGreat guys and awesome content!Really appreciate the hyper focused content on backcountry hunting. I know the advice shared has been earned from years of experience, yet they are open to trying new things. ‘Prreciate-ya!
