    Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
This pod is a good listen for Neil fans, although the more hardcore fans will be shouting corrections at their phones.

    Nails Lofgren
Binging this podcast after watching Neil and the Horse DESTROY Bristow VA this summer. I just finished the Decade episode, I can’t believe they talked to Nails Lofgren. A true American small-businessman! Worth a listen for fans of N Yo.

Came for Neil and Nils stayed for Nails and Dan Mosh Pit
This podcast freaking rocks!!! I’ve tried to go through Neil’s albums in order before but always got sidetracked or started jumping around. Shout out to Mike and the Town Meeting boys for being my musical Sherpas on this wonderful journey and getting me through the 80s (although I think you got it wrong on old ways, I love that album). These guys are great and all of the recurring jokes and side characters keep me engaged and cracking up on me way to work. I’m on Chrome Dreams II now can’t wait to see what else is in store, keep it up! PS The new town meeting album totally slaps, The God’s Aren’t Always Watching blew my mind.

    Thoroughly enjoyable
Great show. The dude Mike sounds like Josh Homme.

    Big Neil Energy
A fantastic and fun deep dive into the catalog of one rocks most iconic figures. It is the perfect balance of music chat, humor, and a host of running jokes I like to use myself. So pour out some syrup with Old Silvergold, this is a thick stack of Neil!

Long may you Run…. Straight to this podcast
Nice podcast if you don't wish to hear anything about Neil Young. They talk about themselves and other artists 99.9% of the time, with great insight. Maybe once in a while you'll hear them bring up Neil Young, but you've got to listen to hours of them going on and on about themselves, first. Yeah, kind of enhances it for me, too. 100% false advertising, 001% Neil Young content. For this reason, I'd advise you to look right here if you want a good music podcast. Avoid Rock's Backpages with noted music critic and author Barney Hoskins (aka Barney Fife),instead, They actually talk about music, not themselves, for an hour. What an astoundingly pedantic , yet simple-to-grasp concept! no wonder why Mike Hu and the Condon Brothers have been able to avoid it. Too busy taking about themselves, I guess. They say they LOVE Neil Young. What they LOVE is to hear themselves talking, about.THEMSELVES! Go listen!!.

    Ragged Glory in a Podcast
Like an extended Neil Young and Crazy Horse jam, this podcast is interminably long, discordant, messy, loud, self-indulgent, gaffe-prone, heavily influenced by booze and weed, and tending to veer off into tangential loops. But like the best of NYCH, it’s so true, real, and full of love, passion, emotional resonance, and a reverence for our crazy Uncle Neil. I love this podcast. Each epic, marathon episode is so satisfying to listen to and the guys who host it are so genuine, engaging, fun, and amusing, especially when they do their Neil impression. That kills me every time. I love hearing them talk about albums and songs that have deeply affected me and my life. This podcast a blast. Thank you, gentlemen!

    Can’t get into it.
It’s pretty cringe tbh, they just talk about jizz and bring up their own band all the time. I tried to like it but hey. If it wasn’t Neil related it would be a hard 1 star lol.

    Today rocked!
Loved today’s episode with Derek Webb. I laughed a lot, I learned a lot, I got angry, and I got excited. All during a gym workout. Makes me want to take a dive into the Derek Webb catalog. Webb does indeed seem to have some Neil in him. BTW- I am not sucking up here- no reason to - but I continue to be impressed with the Town Meeting covers of Neil. I always have a current playlist of favorite newish bands- some perhaps only new to me- but my latest playlist has The War on Drugs, Courtney Barnett, Big Red Machine, Houndmouth, Lumineers, Bear’s Den, Big Thief, boygenius… and Town Meeting. Really. I dare you to read this!

    Misc banter
I’m the nurse that has rocks from the Broken Arrow Ranch driveway. I’m a patreon member & don’t miss an episode. I am terrified of you running out of recordings to “evaluate” & then a light went on! I have dozens of Neil bootlegs from my days of being a Rustie. Those might be fun to review plus you may not be limited to how much of a song you can play on the podcast. Neil was always supportive with the sharing of the bootlegs. I have several shows from Goodbye Waterface & early Greendale shows. Many more. Another thought is to review some Pegi songs. She has three CDs& I’m sure you are aware of her band members. Spooner, Rick Rosas, others…. Corrections- Amber is a textile artist, not painting. When you guys reviewed Are You Passionate you wondered what he meant by “stopped to slide plastic at an Esso station” on She’s a Healer. He’s paying for gas with a credit card! A few too many that night??!! Haha Keep up the great work!

Two fine live releases and Morricone
Greetings. Live at Fillmore is great for a live, rockin Down by the River And Cowgirl in the Sand! Both had me mesmerized. Live at Massey has such a big backstory to it. All those epic songs for the first time. And, he nails it! Please check Ennio Morricone’s Cinema Paradiso, main theme and love theme. Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden do a beautiful version. Or the symphony in Venice. Dude. Hope your gigs are going well! but I’m holdin’ on to the threads of time and with you I feel no hidden path

    For What it’s Worth
This is not a scholarly podcast. It’s unpolished, often unfocused, and mostly opinion based. And that’s exactly how Neil would want it. This is a laid back hang out. Drinking, listening to records and talking about them. Their opinions differ, they argue, get sidetracked, and every time that may annoy you, you think “yeah, this is exactly like hanging out with my buddies”. What these gents lack in professionalism they make up for with genuine experience in music/radio and deep rooted love for their subject. They won me over with their humor, (dare I say?) charm, and enough trivia about Neil and the songs to satisfy the need for more than just ‘reviews’. I’ve enjoyed every episode and am bummed I gotta wait for new ones to drop now. Whether you know Neil’s work well or are just dipping in, this podcast is a fantastic companion for digging into these records. I would love for them to bring on some female perspective sometime, though. Total sausage fest, guys.

    Give it a listen!
Love this podcast because it always makes me feel like I’m spending time with people who are just as obsessed with Neil in all his Neil-ness like me. The hosts are funny, insightful, and enjoyable to listen to. Cheers to our triple Scorpio grandpa Neil and all who love him!

I’ve been waiting for a podcast like this forever and have finally found it! Been a serious Neil fan for the last 10 years and am thankful for the nuggets I’ve picked up listening to this. Also appreciative of the Ben King stories, I went to high school with his grandsons and may have met him a time or two in passing when I stayed over with them on weekends. They always said he was a session musician and were kind of dismissive of his accomplishments (metal heads), so I would have never had any idea who he was. I put the dots together because I remember one of the grandsons saying he worked on the Jewl record, and later confirmed it by asking him on FB after hearing the pod. They weren’t as enthusiastic as I was about Neil and changed the subject before I could press them for any cool tidbits. Bummer

    NY all the time
Discovered your podcast after hearing Russ & Luke on Rockin the Suburbs. Listened to the American Stars n Bars episode first since it’s my favorite NY album. Then started at the beginning and its the only podcast I’ve been listening to since. It seems like after every episode I have a new favorite LP. Just finished Rust Never Sleeps, guess what my new favorite is now. Long time fan bought Decade when it first came out & have been collecting ever since. Thanks to you guys have been listening a lot to his music again.Joined NYA at your recommendation & bought the After the Goldrush vinyl rerelease. Also discovered Town Meeting, love your guys music too. Waiting for my Make Things Better album to arrive. Keep up the good work, hopefully I’ll catch up soon!

Silver Gold is a lousy tipper!
My wife works as a waitress at the Old Wizzer, the all Cheez-Whiz restaurant on the Old Route 7, near the Joann Fabric store. Silver Gold stopped by for a double order of the Cheez-Whiz pancakes and was served by my wife, Darlene. Cheapskate left a $0.75 tip on an $8.35 tab! My wife was furious! Cheap son-of-a-gun that Silver Gold is! Anyway, love the podcast and what you guys do - waiting for a show-down episode; ‘Landing On Water VS. Are You Passionate?’… Keep up the good work!

Happy to have new Neil friends
I have been a Neil fanatic since After the Gold Rush, traveled to see him in concert many times, interacted with him & his family, gots rocks off his driveway before the last Bridge School concert & more. The album reviews /banter/humor is fun & keeps me company on my night shifts in nursing. I am shocked at how different a male perspective can be on song lyrics. HA I’ll give you each a driveway rock if you have me on the show to tell my Neil stories.

This has become my favorite podcast!
I started really diving into Neil’s works 5 years ago and now he is my all time favorite musician. I didn’t think I could possibly appreciate his music more, but when I found Long May You Young a couple of months ago, I quickly realized I was wrong. I have learned so much more about Neil Young and his catalogue that I wouldn’t have learned without the guys. Mike, Russ, and Luke have done an amazing job with this podcast! The guys’ hilarious banter makes it so hard to laugh quietly as I listen at work (in particular, Russ’ jacket voice) and it really makes my day when new episodes drop. Thank y’all for being the best podcast out there! Keep up the amazing work. Also, Town Meeting rocks 🤘🏻

On the hosts' favorite song, "Make Love to You", Stephen Stills sounds like Chef from South Park.

Great pod to listen to while you’re parked in your Aerostar.
Loving the cast, been listening ep by ep. Big Neil fan, but had never fully dove into 80’s Neil until your show took me there. Thank you, it was just something I needed to do. Those were some lean years, and I don't understand a lot Neil’s choices back then, but hey, I’m a dreamin’ man, I don’t have to understand, I know it’s all right. I did enjoy learning about the backstory of Transformer Man, however. The unpluggged version of that song has since shot up the Neil charts of my mind. Looking forward to more eps, especially regarding the album Broken Arrow, an old fav of mine. The song Loose Change on Broken Arrow is one of his best ever in my opinion. Great show, keep up the good work. -Dreamin’ Man.

    Neil junkie
Good to see someone else has the Neil obsession! I’m just now finding out about this and have only made my way through the first 5-6 episodes, but it’s great so far! Roads stretch out like healthy veins, wild gift horses strain the reigns. Cheers!

Great podcast on NY if you don't mind a little nonsense
Youngster from Kentucky here! I got on board a little late and I am trying to listen along to each album before the podcast, but this is a great Neil Young podcast. These fellows are prone to digression but a lot of the jokes land. What I initially found a little annoying became hilarious once I got the lay of the land. Jacket voice is hilarious and the Condon boys are fun, but Mike Hsu might be the heart of the show. He might be a little eccentric (say hello to baby David Briggs Hsu for me), but he is typically well researched on each album and the lore that accompanies it. Knowing the story behind these albums is key to appreciating some of the more uh, demanding listens. I'm way behind and with work and kids, it takes me a few days to get through each show, but a couple of notes since you are contractually obligated to read my comments in their entirety on the air. From Everybody Knows This is Nowhere: Hey Mike - It is pronounced Ap-pal-latch-a, buddy. I know you fellows are up in the great New England, but Ap-pil-lay-sha is how folks say it when they don't want to get any hillbilly on them. From Time Fades Away: Isn't the Great Pretender also a name for Satan or the Anti-Christ? From Tonight's the Night: How can anyone not like Tired Eyes? I don't remember if it were Luke or Russ, but really, man? From Re-ac-tor: Mike and Russ have the correct take on T-Bone. If Luke wants a 15 minute version, he should just put it on repeat, because that's just as good as a longer version. And the lyrics really drive that point home on repeat listens. Spoiler alert, not looking good on the T-Bone front. But seriously, this podcast is so much fun, these guys do a great job. There are some really hilarious running gags and I don't know why I can't find Nails in the Yellow Pages. Are the Yellow Pages still a thing? Don't listen with your kids around, but listen loud!
  • dim-23_weesh
    Great show!
Only complaint I have is about Mike and his distaste for Cripple Creek Ferry. They should’ve have cut Oh Lonesome Me and made Cripple Creek 3 minutes and 47 seconds longer.
  • #Youngster Rickie
You saved me again this week
I’ve been a fan since the first episode but special thanks for the clever banter and laughs this week particularly, a real oasis in the long wait for results that felt like 400 years not 4 days. I never found a way to listen to Old Ways, but from most of the clips you played and the discussion, seems I didn’t miss much. Anyway, keep up the insights (wherever you are pulling them from), riffing, and never taking yourselves too seriously. It’s all great fun.
  • zakyfarms
All the best cowboys have Chinese eyes.
I’m only partway through the Old Ways episode, but so far you guys have completely missed this golden opportunity. And also, did you ever listen to the version of Cortez with the extra lines at the end? Anyway, 5 stars all around. Glad you resisted the advice to shorten the podcast & tighten up. The sprawling nature of it is its charm.

Hey guys, keep up the great work. Every episode I laugh my head off and also learn something new. I would 1000% buy merch if you guys sold some. Also, a couple nights ago I had a dream you guys had Neil on the podcast. Foreshadowing??
  • Popster (pun on Youngster)
    Best Podcast Ever
Best podcast on the internet!! I have listened to every show with the exception of the Stephen King ones. Just finished Hawks and Doves and had to write. Can't disagree more with the iTunes reviews written by Carruth and Popster. On Carruth: He just doesn't get it. The interaction between you three is what makes the show great. Nails, Baby David Briggs, the Jacket ,the non-Neil music talk, Italian subs, the destruction and annihilation of Stills (but not Dylan) and everythingelse you talk about makes it fun. Plus, there is plenty of Neil talk and the analysis is thoughtful and on the money. On Popster: This one is a bit less offensive but he is still wrong. I get the point he was trying to make but Nils could talk forever so you really had to reign him in. I hope he listened to your Mark Mothersbaugh interview. You guys were masterful bringing out all of the fascinating things he has done. Loved the Booji Boy stuff and the talk of potatoes, Johnny Rotten, Cool Aide, John L Williams (sorry) and everything else. Really interesting person and life. Please do NOT change a thing with the show. It is the best. Angry Zeke ps - Love Town Meeting pss - Favorite song is West of Seattle psss - Favorite Neil cover is Alabama pssss - Love Chu too

The Only Neil Young Podcast You Need To Listen To
Started listening to these guys shortly after their first episode dropped and right from the start I was hooked. Hearing them discuss Neil's music is great but just as important is hearing them talk about their personal connections to the music. These guys are hilarious and if they didn't talk about themselves the show would be dry and boring.

    Highly entertaining
Within the hilarious chaos that runs through these episodes is a fantastic chemistry between the hosts and an appropriate appreciation for Neil’s great music. I love this podcast.

    Youngster For Life
Wanted to thank you guys as this podcast has been a major bright spot for me during these awful times we're all dealing with. Neil is my favorite solo artist and I love the joking, humor and knowledge of Neil I get in this pod every week. You guys mentioned your love of Guy Clarke in the American Stars n Bars ep, but no mention of the movie Heartworn Highways? It's a must watch for Guy Clark, Townes and Steve Earle fans. One more thing, Hsu mentioned he's a big Wilco fan. Maybe next idea for a similar series would be to go through every album Jeff Tweedy has been on. Jeff is right up there with Neil for me at least. Keep up the great work and thanks for everything! From Ben, a Minnesota Youngster

    This youngsters got a boner...
I found you guys on the Neil sub Reddit and am pleasantly surprised at the sack tickling that happens every episode. Of all the musicians that deserve a podcast dedicated to them Neil is the biggest and best in my opinion. Thank you for taking your guys passion and putting it into a form I can enjoy in my car each week. Really looking forward to the Neil and the shocking pinks episode for the inevitable vagina jokes that will accompany it. Thanks again (Dan Moss from Redding California) please give a shout out for all the true youngsters out there.

I’ve only listened to 10 seconds of the first episode but instantly felt as if I were home. Immediately hilarious and its awesome to have a show that gets how much I love this genuis of an artist. I’ve long been waiting for a Neil centric podcast and was thrilled when I saw this on NY reddit.

    Fn' Neil, man...
Informative and hilarious. If you love Neil Young and inside jokes (I recommend listening to the episodes in order) then you will love this podcast. Unless you are Adam Morren. Don't be like Adam Morren.

    Challenging, Absorbing, Frustrating, NOT SEXY
Hey, you probably remember Mike Hsu from WAAF fondly. And you probably remember Luke and Russ from the band Town Meeting quite fondly also. So that’s why we decided not to title this review “New, Fun, Exciting, and Sexy”. Because LMYY isn’t any of these. These three dudes will challenge, absorb, and frustrate you at times as they go through the catalog of Neil one album at a time, but fun it is not. Exciting it is not. And it’s sure as hell not sexy, not in any sense. But it is free. So there’s that. There’s also donkey balls, birds, thunder, and dudes who confuse Pink Floyd for Neil...everything I expect from a Neil Young podcast. 👍👍
