DARK_TIMBER_WAMissing person flyersI’m local to where season 4 takes place. Since this pod came out, all the missing person banners and flyers have all pretty much disappeared. Don’t see them in the stores anymore like they once were. But the flyers for Logan are still up.

Radiochild80From 5 stars to 1First, please, please, please, LOOK UP THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD “TESTIMONY”. You use it constantly but never once have you used it correctly. You use words for your livelihood. You should want to use them correctly. You should use them correctly. It bothers me in a major way every time I hear it. The words we choose to use are very important. If we use the wrong words we don’t communicate effectively. Let me help you DEF. Testimony: 1) a statement made by a witness under oath especially in a court 2)a public declaration of religious experience (From Merriam-Webster. ) No one has any obligation to speak the truth to you as a podcaster. It is not illegal to lie constantly to you. Or even just ignore you completely. No one has any obligation to speak to you at all, much less to speak only truth to you. When someone tells you something it is simply a statement not a testimony. Testimony means it is the truth and the person speaking it is somehow obliged to be speaking only the truth as anything else has consequences under the law. That does not describe the things people say to you when you conduct an interview. You do see that, right?!? I used to love this show but this season it seems like the host has kind of sold out. Each episode drags on with this dramatic flair like something big is coming but then it ends and he’s all “next time…” that has gone on and on for multiple episodes. I can’t take it anymore. Also, The host has this annoying habit of thinking/acting as if he is ALOT more important than he really is. I know podcasts are helping law enforcement solve crimes but there is still a major difference between the host of a podcast and a detective. A little humility wouldn’t kill this particular podcaster. That’s my opinion. Maybe it’s only me that picks up on this. I don’t know. But it is cringy to me. And it seems like it is worse than ever this season.

Claire the best!Keeps getting worseEvery season just keeps getting worse. How many “recaps” do you possibly mean. And all of these cliffhangers that go absolutely nowhere!
-
DPP13My favoriteI’ve never had a podcast or tv show/documentary keep me on the edge of my seat the way Hide and Seek does. You guys are not afraid to take it there, and ask the hard questions. You guys are amazing. 5 stars is not enough!!!
-
Lanny NeverStop RecappingThe recap episodes are a cop out and stall tactic. Please just tell the story.

Lindz:&This season tanked this podI have listened and loved this podcast since day one. I didn’t love James bringing in Sara Jo but understood his reasoning. However, this season there have been so many red flags but if you question JB and SJ, you are not just booted but blocked from the H&S social media. I can’t even see the typical FB page for this pod anymore. I didn’t say anything untoward, just asked questions. This is doing a disservice to this case. What a mess!
-
ZnamenitySadly overproduced and bizarreThis podcast went from ok to so terrible.
-
Jill9699Always left wanting moreMuch needed coverage of these cases while leaving us all hanging and wanting to hear the next episode!
-
ShaySha06Always the best.I could listen to each of these stories more than once. Well told. Facts. Questions.

possehCliffhangerIf you liked up and vanished then this is the one for you. Love the host he is great and good at what he does. Shane is def still alive- update I knew Shane was ALIVE!! Had to update my review OMGGGGGG
-
SouthCountyDogMomWaste of timeI live in the area and figured how bad can it be. It made me dumber. Do not recommend.
-
DeeGoySHE KNOWSIt’s clear as day after this episode for me that Rachel knows what happened to Shane. She knows he didn’t leave on his own volition. I’m confused though - what is the part about a shooting that happened?
-
JcicalaGPS Ankle MonitorEpisode XIII.2 for the record I believe Nathan I don’t think he is lying. However, something to keep in mind for later episodes or future podcasts ankle monitors are most definitely NOT always accurate.

CeCe3128Wow!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Just finished bingeing the entire podcast………such a AWESOME podcast!! 👏🏻👏🏻 HIGHLY recommend listening to Hide and Seek🗣️ One of the BEST true crimes podcast out there🤩 Looking forward to new episodes😁
-
NanaJenPenSo Done!I used to enjoy this podcast. But with recent viewings of how the discussion page is ran and seeing how Sara Jo handles the discussion page this will be the last season of hide and seek I ( we) will follow. As soon as they finish the Shane Barton case myself and many of my friends as well will be deleting this podcast due to the way the Facebook page is handled. I ( we) want nothing further to do with such behavior(s). This was the first time we ventured to the Facebook discussion page and it has absolutely ruined this podcast for us. Way to go Sara Jo! You managed to ruin what was thought to be a good thing!
-
Chelsea102⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This podcast is honestly the best out there right now!! Each season keeps me on the edge of my seat and has me going through scenarios in my head trying to piece together the possibilities of who , where, when and why?? I love everything about it I can’t recommend this enough to anyone who appreciates excellent quality true crime stories that are happening as you listen this is a must listen!!! ❤️👏💥⭐️✨✅
-
RgdgfssdrBeen following since first seasonThis podcast is one of the best. I look forward to each episode every week. I feel the podcast I still pretty new and has a few tweaks to make but truly is one of the best true crime pods I’ve listened to.
-
Respectful and compassionateOrganized and easy to followI listen to many, many true crime podcasts over the years. I must say, for the amount of information pouring in to these folks, they do an exceptional job of filtering through it and keeping it organized in a way that we as listeners can follow and understand. It can be difficult sometimes, in longer episodes of podcasts, to keep track of and follow what’s going on and to be honest, I usually would have lost interest by now, but these guys have kept me intrigued and engaged from the start. I started with Shane Barton’s case since it’s close to home. I am on Britt’s case now. I am on episode 15. I find myself speaking to you guys out loud throughout the episodes as if you can hear me. I just pray we get to the bottom of these stories and get resolution and some peace in knowing where these loved ones have vanished to and what happened on their final moments. I know that if it were me, I would die of the not knowing. It would probably literally kill me or I would die trying to find answers. Thank you James, Sarah and the team for keeping things real and putting these stories out here for the world so we can find answers. Much love 🙏🏻❤️

HMitchellGateMehhI was excited for this new podcast and waited anxiously for each episode to release. Season 1 and 2 were good. You could feel the genuine intensions of the podcaster to help these families. And then season 3 came. Ugh. Train Wreck! I stopped listening 10 or so episodes in. I decided to give season 4 a chance. It’s about as bad as season 3 with the unexpected attitude change of the podcaster. James now seems to think everyone owes him interviews and answers. He’s struggling to stay in his podcast lane, and that makes for messy episodes, which are not on a dependable release schedule. With so many fabulous true crime podcasts out there, don’t waste your time on this one.
-
PDJOREpisode nine the way she’s actingFirst of all, I love the podcast can’t get enough second of all the way Rachel is acting in my eyes shows guilt of something. The person in the right mind should treat the man that’s trying to find her husband this way if she did nothing wrong.
-
PresbstephensSo badThis pod is so bad, the host tries to be far too wordy and self serious, just tell us the facts we don’t need your 2 minutes soliloquy after every point. Hard to even follow what he is talking about, each episode pretty much just goes over the same thing. Also just really unprofessional as an interviewer, it almost comes across that he is flirting with crazy “Rach”… he needs to get over himself.
-
Marshmallow 637Downward spiralI’ve been listening since the release of Season One. I actually preferred the more humble, amateur version of James to the current version where he comes off as cocky and arrogant, like he is some sort of tough guy, super detective. It seems obvious Sara Jo or someone is writing these over the top, flowery scripts because he’s not even comfortable saying all these words. The last season with all the meth heads was annoying and just spun in circles. This one is even worse. With so many sympathetic victims out there you could make a more compelling choice.
-
LindsBasHorribleThis has become unlistenable. Shane’s wife is so erratic… She constantly changes her story and drones on about nonsense while conveniently leaving certain things out. She has zero credibility and to base an entire podcast off of her viewpoint is straight up irresponsible.
-
rich2400Skip This One - Waste of TimeWhile initially promising, this podcast has developed serious issues that make it unworthy of your time or support. The FB discussion group is heavily moderated to suppress differing opinions, creating an echo chamber. Listeners are removed or harassed for participating in other forums or offering alternative viewpoints, discouraging open and respectful dialogue. Instead of prioritizing investigations and uncovering the truth, this podcast appears to focus on stoking drama to attract attention. This undermines its stated mission of helping missing persons and alienates professionals and contributors who could provide valuable insights. The creators exhibit hostile, condescending behavior toward their own listeners, leading to a loss of credibility. Their refusal to engage constructively with criticism has driven away loyal fans including me and compromised the integrity of their work. The host is not a very good podcaster using creepy music and technically poor quality episodes. He is not an investigator using poor interview techniques and wanders around a lot. He is 0 for 3 for cases solved. If you’re seeking thoughtful and objective true crime content, there are better options that genuinely value their audience and the pursuit of justice. Skip this one.

anwyn33Exceptional!I’m part of the Patreon team, haha. I had to grab the top tier annual membership as soon as it was available. I highly suggest to anyone who listens! I’ve listened to each season at least twice. Very well done! I rarely open Apple Music or Podcasts. I thought I would drop in for a 5 star review. Keep up the amazing work H&S crew!

RccitronNeeds Professional TrainingI’ve been a follower of this podcast since its start and while I admire how James got into the podcasting game, after yesterday’s episode, it really got under my skin and I think it’s time he took a step back and got some professional training in Investigation. By this I mean, while I think there is a certain amount of rapport that one needs to build to gather information, I think this season in particular, James has crossed over into an unprofessional relationship and too much familiarity with his subjects. His relationship with Rachel is too casual and familiar. For one thing, and this may sound small, but my name is also Rachel. The only people who are invited to call me “Rach” are my husband and best friends. I would not welcome it from anyone else as it implies intimacy and close friendship to call me by a nickname. But James shows his frustration and feelings too loosely with her. It’s too compromising to the investigation. That’s occurred during the last season as well, even though good work was done. But it’s important to maintain boundaries. Finally, I suggest editing. I don’t need to hear quite so many details.
-
K00?Well,The family killed him for some reason, figure out why James.
-
cbod1121Long winded and going no whereThis is awful. I have twice tried to listen to episode one and it’s way too long and produces nothing. What up with that music. The opening dialogue with his girlfriend sounded to me more like you were hitting on her and didn’t want to leave. Are you sure u told me everything. Like really sure. Like you didn’t leave anything out. Like your triple sure? Awful.
-
KzakzakzaSeason 1 episode 3Seriously, if a woman’s children aren’t at her home, it doesn’t mean she is comfortable letting a man or someone new come over! She clearly didn’t give her address out because she was cautious as most single women should be. Please don’t assume there’s is some “secret” as to why…..maybe an understanding of why women are cautious about their “safe place” should be taken into account. That was painful to listen to the speculation.
-
voxx11224/5One of the best true crime podcasts out there with one of the best starts. But.. I’m concerned that in season 3 James started stretching content and getting hung up on cases. Season three was wayyyyy too long. It could have ended half way thru the season. Episode four of season 4 was 65 minutes of cat and mouse with Rachel rambling on and on while James intermittently quipped “yea okay.” That entire walk thru should have been a 15 minutes, concise timeline delivered by James and not Rachel. By the end I didn’t have enough breadcrumbs to get home. We listen to hear you James; pull the plug on the real-time recordings and cut to the chase. “A Door left close” felt like a blown deadline / scramble to get an episode out. Almost like it was a single .wav recording cut and pasted in between intro/credits. Cmon guys, tighten up.
-
Fresh2EnvyGreat PodcastI stumbled across this podcast …so glad I did ,James Baysinger work is great. The interviews are good to listen to the questions asked are on point.Keep up the great work looking forwarding to hearing the rest of episodes.Well done!
-
CHRISSYB1234567This season is TOP TIERSeason 4 is starting off so strong! The mood of the episodes, the information, and the 6PM consistent release time,… LOVE IT!
-
magaoingoOverdone and PretentiousTalk about melodramatic and fake.
-
TrishaconradNegative Reviews are crazyI love this podcast. In comparison I love culpable, up and vanished and unrestorable, your own backyard, and this one here!!!!
-
Sara B43Good but Sound Effects 🤦🏻♀️This is a good story and very detailed which I love. But throughout, there are annoying, distracting side effects, which add nothing to the podcast.
-
Le Chevalier C. Auguste DupinExtremely disappointedThis guy and his female partner have done nothing in any of these cases. They have just used the families to make money off of this podcast. Every season is a failure. All he manages to do is stir up more trouble in these small communities. Such a sad outcome. I will not continue listening to this. My heart goes out to the families.
-
PODGOD1Great JobI loved the first two season and IFWU , objectively it feels like your team is overdoing the production, the sound effects the sound design the new editor even using the sound stripping all takes away from the show.
-
Big D in D.C.Unprofessional, malpracticeWhere in the world does this guy get off doing three seasons of a podcast, hundreds of episodes, and not finding a single answer? I feel bad for the families who had their lives upended again by this tyrant just to be in the exact same position they were when he started.
-
bad545Waiting for season 4Looooooved all the previous seasons can’t wait for season 4 !! James and Sara along with the rest of the crew are amazing!!!
-
MakloopsWish I could give 100 starsMy favorite podcast. Can’t wait for season 4!
-
KGunschThe absolute best podcast out there!!!Love the way James goes about doing his podcasts. They captivate you from the first and second episodes. He gets right to it the important questions even though they can be very uncomfortable and hard to ask. Have listened to all three unsolved cases and will continue to follow him and Sara. Their such a great team together and have helped so many families. Thank you for caring and being so passionate for all the families involved. I’m sure they truly appreciate you guys.
-
Telephone7654IncredibleI love this podcast
-
StephhhainnieieieLove these guys!Loves James & his team! Fighting the good fight. Shelby is the sweetest girl with a heart of gold. Keep it up guys!
-
Sunshine Girl 12The Search for LoganI came across a FB post about Logan’s disappearance 8 years ago. The post referenced your podcast to learn the details of the search for him. I thought it was really interesting and I applaud you for not giving upon him. He’s out there somewhere and I hope the truth is revealed.
-
StephVickersGreatI love your passion James! Keep it up, and love that it's local to me.
-
Selene StebbinsExcellent podcastSeason 3 has been my favorite so far but all seasons are excellent. James and Sara take investigative podcasting to a whole new level and the videos are so well done. If you haven’t joined their Patreon, run over there and do it! Thank you for such a well done podcast. I hope Nancy Logan and Brittany get justice.
-
MeredithHood75Superb!I have a list of over 100 True Crime Podcasts and this is one of my favorites! The investigating and reporting makes this podcasts in my top 3!!!
-
Jen2theGExcellent, thorough investigative serial storyThis is an investigative true crime podcast at its finest. I’ve listened to every serial story out there, and this remains one of the best. I disagree with other reviews here about season 3 being too much, redundant, needing editing, and feel that James and Sara are trying to be as transparent as possible with us as listeners, as messy and voluminous as it may feel to us. I really feel that they are doing this with integrity and for the right reasons. And it is clear their work is having an impact, even though of course we all are impatient for justice. I look forward to the next season and any updates on the past cases.
-
Family of 7 adventuresGripping! As a murder mystery junkie of 30 years, Hide and Seek is gripping! James does a fabulous job staying neutral and enticing people to talk. The staff has created episodes that I cannot turn off, and I hope the seasons continue for many years!
-
kels2023Better than mostThis is truly a fantastic podcast. I have listened to just about every podcast on the market and this will always remain my favorite. James is truly fantastic. If being blunt, I don’t like the addition of Sara. Im a silent follower of the podcast group on Facebook. I don’t comment snd I don’t posts, but I silently scroll and take in what’s happening. Sara is often time’s condescending and rude, even when people are just asking simple questions. It kind of ruins the entire experience for me.
